Another very good meal at Cabo. Their fish tacos are really great. Love their spicy tomato salsa. Service was a little slow but not horrible. The place tends to be loud, so it's hard to hold a conversation when the place is busy which it was on this visit. Still, solid meal. Will be back.

Cabo had been on my list for a while, so I was excited to finally visit, that's less than two miles from home. I stopped in on a Wednesday around 7:15 pm; it was comfortably busy, and parking was easy in the large parking lot. I accidentally entered through the back door that was right by where I parked, but was warmly welcomed by Jimena, who explained it was table service and she would be my server. I chose a standard table and was seated at a cozy two-top facing a beautiful, full-length bar and two TVs. The colorful Mexican décor and warm vibe made it feel like dining among neighbors and friends. I started with a refreshing Jamaica agua fresca brewed from dried hibiscus flowers ($4.50), it's slightly sweet and floral and served in a mason jar. For food, I ordered the Baja Fish Taco ($6) and the Short Rib Taco ($7.50). The fish taco featured crispy beer-battered cod with coleslaw, cilantro, cheese, lime, and chipotle aioli on a cheese-crusted tortilla, it was delicious, but I wish the fish had been a bit thicker. The 24-hour braised short rib taco topped with pickled red onions, cilantro, and avocado was rich and flavorful. The red salsa was a bit watered down with not much flavor, but the taco was flavorful and didn't need it. I was already full but couldn't resist to order the Mexican Key Lime Pie ($8). It was beautifully presented and drew attention from the table of 4 next to me. I enjoyed a couple of bites and took the rest home. It was quite tart but was balanced well by the abundance of whipped cream. Overall, it was a lovely experience. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and satisfying food. I'm happy to have such a solid Mexican spot in the neighborhood and look forward to returning with my family to explore more of the menu.

I came here to celebrate my birthday with my bestie, and it happened to be on a snowy evening. The restaurant wasn't very busy, so we were able to choose our seat. The service is always great here, and the food was made quickly and served hot and fresh! I appreciate that they have vegan options, although I truly wish their refried beans and Spanish rice were vegan. I was able to order their vegetarian burrito and have them change a couple of things to make it vegan. It was absolutely delicious! The decor here is festive, and together with the lighting, they create a warm and inviting ambience. I enjoy this local establishment.

Came here Labor Day weekend for the very first time for a dinner on Monday evening. We did not make reservations and quite frankly I'm not sure if they even take reservations. It is located in a large strip mall so there was ample parking, which is great. When you enter the restaurant, it is absolutely so fun and decked out with decor lights all made for you to take photos and post on Instagram There is even an outdoor area as well, which is great, but your surroundings are the parking lot As soon as I walked in, nobody greeted me nobody was waiting to greet me, and at least four of the weight staff passed by me without acknowledging that I existed and was standing there clearly looking around for my other half of the party So then I stood there at the doorway where there is conveniently placed a table as well no seating area no waiting area and had to call my other half of the party in order to locate them as the place was completely packed After sitting down and locating the other half of my party, no one came by with water. No one came by to greet us and then somebody did finally come by and asked us to move tables because they have a party of 10 coming in who needed our table. So we did move and how ironic we moved to the very front table right at the very entrance where everyone stands around and gets to watch you eat and are literally almost breathing on your food We ordered five different tacos as you can tell from the photos as well as an appetizer. We also got dessert of the churro fries. We did not order any drink drinks. Our actual waiter for taking our order changed twice because the lady came over to try to take our order. Then another waiter was having an issue to which she left and help that other waiter and then a different waiter came over to us to actually take our order. Despite all of this disorganization confusion and horrible experience, we still left a 20% tip The food is OK. The tacos are quite frankly overpriced and real realizing that there are so many taco options in the Chicagoland area. The only reason you're coming here to Northbrook is because you refuse to go to something more authentic and further away from your home in the suburbs I don't know if I would come back again again because there are so much saturation in the market with tacos and Mexican food in general, especially authentic Mexican food. This is not even Tex-Mex.

Recently heard about this place and decided to come here with my mom. The interior is clean and simple. The workers are all pretty young. Menu is short and sweet. They also have a bar area if you're just coming for drinks. We ordered a little bit of everything to share. The torta was huge! Yum! Tacos were a bit of a mix. The tuna one didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping for, but the chicken taco had a nice spicy kick that made up for it. Chips and guac were classic and hit the spot. The horchata was delicious and came in a cute mason jar. Quesadilla was super cheesy and filling. Overall, would come back to try more and maybe grab drinks at the bar next time.

We ordered carry out from Cabo after hearing good things about them from a friend. When my husband went to pick up the food he noticed that it was very busy and they were a bit slow in terms of service. This was likely due to it being a new restaurant plus they have outdoor seating and the weather was really nice on this particular day. The food we ordered was good. I appreciated that they offer fajitas in small and large portions. I had the small shrimp fajitas which came with three tortillas. There were 9 shrimp in the serving although the corn tortillas were a bit small to fit three shrimp and the other toppings. My husband ordered their burrito which he said was good. Overall, we look forward to trying Cabo again but this time dining there.

Stylish casual Mexican joint, looks fancier than it is. Chips and salsa are not complimentary, but you have a choice of green or red salsa and it's a good-sized portion with thin, crisp and Warm, salted chips. I ordered the vegan crispy avocado tacos, which had panko fried avocado and covered with a black beans and roasted corn. It was really bland and could have benefitted from some onion and cilantro. My companion ordered a Baja fish taco and grilled shrimp taco and found them very flavorful. The Mexican street corn was bubbly and hot -- maybe could have used a little heat/spice. Overall, our dishes could have used a little more flavor -- although the salsas helped. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, food came out quickly, large parking lot. I'd come back again but order differently.

When I arrived at 5:30pm it was just our table and a handful of other tables, by the time 6pm came around the place was full. This was a weekend dinner and the service was attentive and good. The guacamole dip was tasty and came with plenty of chips. The menu is extensive and the pricing isn't that bad considering it is a more Mexican American place. The torta that I ordered the al pastor one was huge, as the server mentioned. It was tasty, there was a decent amount of Al pastor - and the meat was nicely sliced as if off a spit, recently at places I feel like they haven't been as authentic as that. The torta was $12, quite a deal for the size. Will have to come back to try some other things on the menu.

Great New Mexican place! At first I thought it was a chipotle kinda place but I am glad that it's way more and way better than that! Everything we had was fresh and flavorful at a reasonable price. And they have a bar! :) One confusing thing is that you can't grab a table until you order, and the servers will bring you the food...so it's fast causal except it's not that 'fast' coz it felt more like a sit down restaurant other than the ordering part. I wonder how that's gonna work once their foot traffic picks up.

Love: that there's a new, upscale Mexican spot right by our swim school. We've been waiting for you, Cabo! The interior decor is nice, with the bright, colorful skull by the front, and the dazzling TEQUILA lettering above the fully stocked bar. Like: quick service style (order and pay at register, then get a number for food to be brought to you). Abundance of menu options. Bound to be something for everyone, across the apps, tacos, tortas, and dinners. Dislike: the food was very bland and one note for the ambiance Cabo exudes. I really wanted to like it more. My chicken al pastor burrito needed a lot more flavor, despite the chicken, beans, and pineapple components within it. I was disappointed and got Chipotle withdrawal. I also tried my daughter's steak torta, and it lacked so much flavor. The steak was not seasoned, and the avocado, onion, and tomato didn't add much to it either. It desperately needed a bold, flavorful sauce, and come to think of it, I didn't taste any cheese, if there was supposed to be some. My husband was on the same page with his double meat rice bowl: take us to Flavor Town! Price point is steep for the quality of food. The hibiscus drink was okay to try, but quite tart and acidic.

Which made it a little disappointing when we were asked to move about ten minutes later to accommodate a large group that came and expected 15-20 seats. The cocktail menu had a good variety. I ordered a dirty martini, which was fine but not something I would seek out. The olives were standard olives and, maybe I'm a snob, but I kind of expect a blue cheese or garlic stuffed olive at a place where I'm paying $16 for a cocktail. For my second round, I got a vodka soda, which was exactly what I expected. We ordered french fries and truffle fries, both of which came out quickly. They were crispy and hot, a solid pairing for a dirty martini adventure. I'll definitely come back - I might stick to wine or a more basic cocktail next time - but I loved the vibe.

My group ordered our drinks and waited for around 15 minutes before the server came back out asking for our order once again. My friends all ordered cocktails and I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The server clearly wasn't sure what Cabernet Sauvignon was since she repeated it back to me as Sauvignon blanc. I corrected her and the cocktails came out, but another server/bartender came out asking what I had ordered. I repeated once again a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. He brought out a glass of white wine. I had to tell him that Cabernet Sauvignon was a red wine, not white, and then finally got the correct drink. It was unfortunately at least 30 minutes of being there and four conversations before I got my drink. All in all, I was pretty disappointed. With the type of bar this place is aiming to be, I wouldn't expect it to be so difficult to get a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.

For my second, I got one of their Valentine's specials which was essentially a Boulevardier made with a small float of mezcal on top. What an amazing addition to this classic cocktail! However, as…read morethe day approached, the weather forecast consistently called for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and possible flash flooding. We decided it was not a good idea to drive to an unfamiliar area in inclement weather and canceled the reservation on Friday night. We were fortunate that Social Inn is close by and is a great restaurant for celebratory dining. Best of all, they still had reservation available. As it turned out, it was just light rain the entire evening on Father's Day, but we didn't regret the change at all. Although the restaurant was not filled to capacity, it was bustling with many families celebrating Father's Day, creating a festive vibe. It's the first time that we met the owner, Daniella, who's so warm and welcoming. She invited us to choose from available tables in three different dining areas. We selected the table right by the lounge that had a large TV, homey décor, couch and cocktail table. It was also right by the big window overlooking the small and charming front patio. Our server, Chis, was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. I ordered a Lemonade ($3), my husband and daughter each enjoyed a glass of Mer Soliel Reserve Chardonnay (2 for $26). We shared a Grilled Octopus ($22) which was cooked to perfection. The warm, lightly charred pita points paired well with the creamy and tasty beet hummus. I had a Slow Roasted Lamb Shank ($39) which was tender and full of flavors. It was a very generous portion that I shared a big piece with my husband; and still had leftovers to take home. It made a delicious lamb sandwich for my next lunch. My husband liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) so much last time that he ordered it again. Our daughter enjoyed her order of Rigatoni Sausage ($23), another generously portioned dish that she couldn't quite finish. By the end of the meal, we were too full for individual desserts, so we shared a Crème Brûlée ($8), which was the perfect sweet ending. All in all, it was a wonderful dinner. With consistent delicious dishes, warm hospitality, comfortable seating, and a convenient location, we will definitely be back again.

The other struggle will be with parking as this place is generally very packed during dinner hours. After several visits here, I've decided that the best way to order is to get large dishes to share with others. While, individual size servings are great -- there is a ton of spots nearby great for 1-2 people, but this spot does offer some nicely presented large dishes like bossam which are great for serving. I also find the seafood pancake to be a generous size with plenty of seafood and a nice crisp edge. These are definitely prepared with minimal seasoning, relying instead on an assortment of sauces to infuse the food with flavor. The bulgogi similarly, is tender and presented with lots of cabbage, more of a cold day comfort food instead of a seared version with thick sauce as you may find in other nearby locations. Definitely aim for some spicy dishes like the spicy pork bbq with mozzarella cheese if you're coming here, as the spicy options are on a different level of flavor and depth (similar to most Asian food you'll find in the area). Again, the meat is prepared very tender with an explosion of flavor. Overall, excellent food with excellent presentation and surprisingly affordable pricing. Probably one of the best values you'll find from a Yelp Top 100 US restaurant.
