I have been excited about the addition of Bean Bar to our neighborhood in downtown Northbrook for a while.  We finally had a chance to visit together before we went to the Art in the Park the Saturday of the Mother's Day weekend!  It totally justified all the hype! Given it was a Saturday, there was an annual art fair in the Village Green close by, and the Mother's Day weekend, we expected it to be very busy, and it was justifiable so.  There was a rather long line placing orders at the cashier, but it moved quickly.  There were many laminated menus for us to read while waiting in line.  The cashier was friendly, patient, and helpful in answering questions.  Our daughter ordered an Avocado Toast and a Berry Zen Refresher.  My husband and I found that a good idea, and each of us also ordered an Avocado Toast, although I had hoped that I got different types of dishes to photograph, lol.  Husband had a Cappuccino, and I had a large Iced Pistachio Latte (oat milk).  This simple brunch came up to $77.34 with tip, and it's worth it. All 3 Avocado Toasts were perfectly made.  All the ingredients were very fresh, although there wasn't a lot of seasoning, the taste of each ingredient worked well together to achieve a delicious dish.  I especially liked the over easy egg and the crispy edges of the warm toast.  My Iced Pistachio Latte was very good without being too sweet. Although the food and drinks were the star, the ambiance was so pleasing and relaxed that totally elevated the entire experience.  The dining room with high ceiling and chandeliers was spacious and beautiful.  There were many different types of seating for patrons -- big comfy couches, regular tables, high-tops, small booths, conference rooms with long table and chairs, small private rooms... not to mention about the large sheltered patio with many tables and seats!  As I have mentioned, we went at a busy time, there were not a lot of tables left for dining purposes, we opted for a high-top.  Even though the venue was almost filled to capacity, it still felt very airy and comfortable.  I could just chill there happily for half a day with my latte! However, there were small hiccups that fortunately did not ruin our first experience there.  My husband's and daughter's drink came out almost instantly after we sat down, but I had to chase down a staff (there's no servers except for the staff who delivered the dishes or cleaned tables) to tell him that my drink was missing.  I told him that it's supposed to be cold but with no ice.  He immediately got me a Pistachio Latte but with ice.  The cashier lady had specified no ice on when she placed the order for me, I talked to her about this and she offered to make me a new one, but I had already had a sip and didn't want to put the drink to waste, so I just kept it.  I later scooped out all the ice so that it did not dilute my drink, and it was good.  I must mention that the food came out in just 5 minutes even though the place was busy. Our high-top table wobbled when we used our knives and forks to cut the toasts, not a very big deal, but the restaurant could easily have that fixed as I am pointing it out now, It's one of the high-tops under the BB sign. This brunch kicked off a very happy Mother's Day weekend.  I was in a very good mood going to the art fair from Bean Bar.  We will definitely return to try the many other items on their menu. read more

The ambience is incredible here! What an eclectic, artsy vibe. I feel like I'm in Chicago when I'm at the Bean Bar. I love the brick walls, high ceilings, and the wide variety of seating areas - both indoor and out. Staff here is wonderful, very friendly with top-notch service. I ordered the avocado toast with no egg to make it vegan, and a latte with oat milk. The latte was perfect, but I didn't love the avocado toast. Bean Bar is the perfect place for both personal and work gatherings... or to just hang out by yourself. read more

I really want to love this place because it has a lot going for it. The atmosphere is great, there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and it's a convenient location. My main issue is the drinks. I've had a couple that were good, like the pistachio latte and dirty lavender chai, but most need improvement. They often taste watered down or mostly like milk rather than the actual flavor. The rose latte, London Fog matcha latte, Turkish coffee, and cardamom cinnamon latte all felt pretty weak. The $0.75 charge for alternative milk also feels high given the drink prices. The bakery items are hit or miss. The tomato basil Danish ($7.50) was delicious, but some cakes and pastries we've tried have been dry. I keep coming back because the space is beautiful and convenient, I just wish the drinks and snacks were more consistent. read more

Bean Bar is a great addition to downtown Northbrook! It's spacious with lots of seating, and offers a large menu that includes various drinks and meals. On my first visit, I only had a mocha latte (it was good, but could have been hotter and mocha-ier), but I'll be back to try more of their menu. We arrived at 4 p.m. on a Sunday, an hour before they closed. The place was packed with people of all ages. The service was pretty fast -- they bring your order to your table -- and the decor was really nice. They are serious about closing time -- staff walked around at 4:55 and basically asked people to leave. So be sure to allow enough time to enjoy your order and the ambiance! read more

Must try coffee spot in Northbrook! From the outside, this place looks huge. They have a very large, covered outdoor patio with lots of seating. Inside has an elevated yet eclectic vibe with lounge seating, tables & chairs, and enclosed, small meeting spaces. I loved the design of the inside as well as outside murals on the building. Their menu had a lot to order both on the food and drink sides. One orders at the counter and gets a number for items to be delivered to your table. I got the 16oz hot Bouquet Latte which had both lavender and rose flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed that their lattes were already priced out with oat milk included. The flavor was perfectly floral. My husband got the Rose & Cardamom Chai Latte which also was a good balance of spice and floral. I left thoroughly impressed by Bear Bar and will certainly be back when in the area! read more

I was hungry, in dire need of (more) caffeine and had an hour to kill when I dropped my kids off at Glenbrook Tennis. I looked on Yelp and was intrigued by Bean Bear, which is in the same shopping center as dollar tree. This coffee shop is massive. It was quite full on a Saturday afternoon, but there was plenty of seating indoors. They also have a great outdoor area and a bunch of mini private rooms.I'm not sure if you have to reserve those ahead of time, but I was thinking great space for coworking! The biggest downside was that you can't order online ahead of time and there was a long line. Their menu looked good, but I went with a yogurt parfait because i figured that would be fast to make. And an almond iced latte. The latte came out pretty fast, but the parfait took about 15 min which left me with about 5 min to eat it. It was OK. I'd prefer to try something else next time. Due to the long line and inability to order ahead I'd probably only come back when wanting to sit for awhile to get work done, but it's the perfect spot for that! read more

I had a very disappointing experience during my visit. The barista who assisted me, Savannah, was rude and dismissive when I requested a few simple modifications to my drink. Throughout the interaction, she appeared unprofessional. I noticed her rolling her eyes and overheard her speaking negatively about customers while I was waiting for my order. Unfortunately, this attitude did not seem isolated, as the overall staff attitude came across as unfriendly and unwelcoming. In addition to the service issues, the quality of the food and drink was also below expectations. The coffee tasted burnt, and the cinnamon roll was rubbery and lacked sweetness. While the interior of the space is appealing and offers comfortable seating, the poor customer service and disappointing quality make it difficult for me to return or recommend this establishment. read more

Bean Bar is the new hottest place to be in Northbrook. I work nearby so have been meaning to stop in and they are always busy especially in the morning time. Ended up going after work and it was the perfect timing. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and the dragonfruit lychee lemonade. The workers were so friendly and answered questions and gave some suggestions of what to order. You order at the front you get a table number and they will bring it to you. There is plenty of seating indoor and out. It has a relaxing feel to the place. They have board games out or books to read. The dragonfruit lychee was refreshing with the lemonade added to it. It wasn't super sweet which I enjoyed. The chicken pesto panini was amazing! So full of flavor and the chips along with it. I know I'll be stopping by after work to try different things. Who am I to say, my name is..... Names aside, this is a spacious and gorgeous cafe, that looks like a literary salon, antique library or your great aunt's sitting room, but updated. Lots of comfy couches are set in inviting groupings, there is a large outdoor seating area. There are also meeting rooms. And I stopped in at opening (7am) and there were many people already in, taking drinks to go, or sitting with friends. There's a breakfast and lunch menu, pastries, drinks. They are open until 5 pm. I tried a macadamia latte with oat milk and a croissant. Delicious! It is a little confusing to order -- it's over at the counter. Maybe some signage about where to place your order. This would be a great place to meet up for lunch, split a dessert. I'll have to come back for a meal. Maybe have a meeting? Delightful and spacious coffee shop! There is so much room to lounge and hang with friends. Numerous alcoves to sit in and enjoy your food/beverage, private meeting spaces, expansive covered outdoor patio. This is a place you'll want to linger. The longer you take it in, the more delightful character you'll find from the tile behind the bar, to the light fixtures, to the furniture. The staff was so helpful and kind. I asked for a lid that did not require a straw due to dental work I just had done and the woman was gracious. As I was swapping them out another staff member held out his hand to collect my garbage. I was shocked and appreciative. They've got a great breakfast/lunch menu. The veggie scramble bowl was delicious - packed with vegetables. The iced coffee was strong. We had a great first time at Bear Bar! It's a nice atmosphere to hang out as a family, grab coffee with a friend or settle in to get some work done. The owners and staff are really nice and working hard on their first weekend open. I had the brioche chocolate roll and it was so delicious. We were in the area and wanted a quick lunch nearby so we stopped by Bean Bar on a Sunday afternoon. There is a large parking lot and plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and then seat yourself afterwards. I love the interior décor and cozy patio outside. There are also some board games available. However, it took longer than expected for our food to arrive. I had the pressed chicken pesto sandwich (sourdough, pesto spread, roasted chicken breast, red pepper, mozzarella, basil) which was served with a side of chips. The sandwich was just okay. The chicken was really dry. The chips were just your run of the mill standard potato chips. Hubby had the BB chicken BLT (avocado aioli, roasted chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, tomato) and felt the same about his sandwich. Bean Bar is a nice space to chill/hang out with friends but I probably wouldn't come back for the food. read more

This. This is what Northbrook has needed. I eagerly awaited the opening of Bean Bar for months, following the progress on their social media posts. And then they had the audacity to open while I was out of town! But that just means I'll spend the foreseeable future making up for those few days I've lost. Whether you're working remotely or meeting with a group of friends, there are comfortable and inviting spaces (including private rooms). The patio is gorgeous and well covered. Staff are super friendly. The menu is interesting with plenty of food and drink options. I've had a few different coffee beverages, including the vanilla almond latte and an americano, and they've all been great. The salad I had for lunch was wonderful and you can't skip the pastries. Serah, the owner, is hands-on with the team. Every time I've been there, I've seen her behind the counter making drinks or dropping off food to tables. I love the personal feel of Bean Bar, and it helps that it's already become a hub in the community. Every time I'm here I run into a few familiar faces. Love the addition to Northbrook and am looking forward to continuing to support their venture (while they support my caffeine habits)! read more

They probably need two "coffee prep" stations as there is one near the bar but if they deliver to you at the front of the store you have to walk to the back to get your cream and sugar...They also have some timing issues that need to be worked out. He was a senior barista at Starbucks and is super excited to be a part of an independent coffee shop and eatery in Northbrook. The space is giant, it is located in the former Chase Bank. If you like wasting your time and money go here. Me and my Turkish friend went here recently and ordered an iced chai with cold foam, a chocolate baklava, and a strawberry matcha latte. There was only a WHISPER of chai and a WHISPER of matcha. I think theyre rationing their ingredients to re do the horrid office interior. I ordered a chai with cold foam and got a cold foam with a hint of chai. The baklava was SO SO greasy you'd think I was at McDonald's, and it tasted like how it looked, like shizz. If you want to go to a coffee shop better than this go to Starbucks, at least they will have flavor for the same price. The shop also had zero customer service. Plus the interior was really ugly and nothing matched. New coffee shop in Northbrook. I came with my family and I was pleased there was something on the menu for everyone. The space is huge. I love that they have individual rooms. My family and I situated ourselves in one of the rooms so I was able to get some work done while my kids picked from their selection of books and games for entertainment. My matcha drink was very tasty. Just a heads up that we went on a Friday around 4 and there were a lot of kids and students hanging out there at the time. It looks like there is outdoor seating too, so that will be a nice option once the weather improves. read more

I find this to be a glorified Starbucks. I met a friend for brunch this morning. There were a lot of people there, many with laptops. There were a few glass enclosed rooms with only 1 person, even though the tables are for larger parties. There were very few tables available at 1030AM. I went up and ordered my food, we both ordered at the same time, separate orders. My friend got hers in less than 5 minutes, coffee and all. I waited almost 15 minutes, my eggs and bacon, and potatoes were cold. I had to ask for my coffee, I didn't send my food back because it took so long to get. I've only been to the Bean Bar once and had a great experience. The place is large inside with plenty of seating. I sat outside with a group and we had plenty of room and space to relax and enjoy our coffee and food. We sat under a canopy and had the option of sitting in the sun. Whatever coffee experience you crave, they can accommodate! This is a great spot that is not claustrophobic by any stretch of the imagination. Lots of room to spread out. Their prices are in line with the local competition as well. We were served quickly and I think I will come back again. read more

Really like this place. Big welcoming space, music isn't too loud, lots of seating. If you have a small group there's a few options for private meetings. It's accommodating for kids as well. There are board games and books available to read, and Internet access as well. Service is friendly. The coffee was very good. Had a blueberry muffin that paired well with the coffee I had. During warmer times, it has nice and ample outdoor seating. Lots of parking too. Will be back. read more
