What a great coffee shop in Downtown Winnetka! The patio out front is rather large with some covered tables. The inside is also spacious, bright from natural light, had a simple design. Upon entering, one can walk right up to the ordering counter. They have a standard coffee and tea menu, specialty drinks, seasonal drinks, and some pastries for purchase. Their specialty/seasonal drinks aren't posted outside of the register so I recommend looking online as a preview if needed. I got the Funky Monkey as the barista said it was their most popular seasonal drink. I loved the subtle banana flavor and slightly sweet notes. The espresso is also house roasted and great quality. My husband tried their Chai Latte which was okay. We also shared an Old Fashioned donut which had great flavor. Coffee flavors definitely seem to be their sweet spot! read more

Recently, met one of the owners by chance. Decided to try a bag of Ruca on his recommendation and it is excellent. I don't even need to add cream and sugar to it. The Winnetka store is very cool. Great ambiance. Ronnie my server was very nice and helpful. Will be back to try the Dark roast version. read more

We're big Tala fans! Our usual cafe if the Libertyville headquarters - but while in the area, we had to try the Winnetka location. What a unique building. Parking was difficult to figure out as a newbie. We passed the lot and had to make a massive circle through the neighborhood to get back on track. Learn from us - don't miss the parking on Green Bay Rd. There is lots of outdoor seating, which I'm sure is nice in the warmer months. The interior of the cafe is bright and open, with lots of seating. We experienced the same warm welcome and friendly atmosphere at this cafe. I ordered a mint tea and my son was thrilled to grab some Holcomb Hollow treats. A must visit - Tala is a local gem and their hospitality, heart, warmth, and service extends across the many locations. read more

I must say, as a barista myself I have heard many things prior about this place. Great people running it, great roasting and great put together drinks. I can say this lived up to the hype. The coffee beans were lightly roasted with notes of caramel and smooth velvety milk. Only stopped in for coffee, but what a coffee stop it was. We got the 93 Octane and the Baklava Latte (a fall special) and it was difficult to decide which was better. Rather than just being overly syrupy, each sip had dimensions of flavors that roll around and wrap up your tongue in the best, big warm hug. Service was so wonderful as well, and if I were more local, I imagine getting to know the baristas would take no time at all. Kind of an interesting location to get to, but that just adds to the charm. I'm sure commuter traffic would swamp the place in the AM though. read more

My second time visiting and this time I tried the ube latte with a chorizo breakfast burrito. The ube latte was okay. It could've been a tad sweeter. The chorizo burrito was okay as well. This was actually so disappointing. Ordered a 12oz specialty latte and a breakfast sandwich. It cost $19.50. Outrageous prices, but I liked their coffee before so it was fine. The coquito latte I ordered tasted like sweet milk, the barista said there are 2 shots in it but I find that very hard to believe. I didn't taste any coffee, the latte was tinted beige so there was probably some in it The breakfast sandwhich on the other hand... was disgusting. I should've expected it would've been bad, but it was recommended to me. It had a couple pieces of wet soggy bacon, and a perfect circle of what I think is egg. I'm t was also drenched in some kind of wet juice stuff, not sure if it's cheese, or bacon grease, I don't know. But I do know that it shouldn't cost $12. The picture speaks for itself. Although we are in the midst of winter I can see this spot becoming a great scene in the warmer months with their plentiful outdoor seating offerings. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the coffee. The brews here are nothing short of fantastic! Whether you're a fan of robust espressos or prefer a smooth latte, Tala has you covered. The baristas are not only skilled but also passionate about their craft, and it truly reflects in every sip. The variety of beans they offer for drinks and take-home is commendable, and I appreciate the effort they put into sourcing high-quality coffee. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with ample seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating area, set against the backdrop of the old service station, adds a touch of nostalgia. The unique drinks and quality coffee that Tala offers are great! They always keep up with the seasons with revisiting and new seasonal drink ideas to keep things fresh, while they also have a solid menu of delicious drinks that they have all year round. They have exclusive drinks at each of their 3 cafes, so they always have plenty of good options to choose from. My wife and I often make the trip and pass by countless well known coffee chains to make it to this cafe, which is a 49 minute drive. Quite a haul, but worth it to try their cafe exclusives when they have a good option (which is pretty much always) This location is the most appealing in my opinion, being located on Green Bay Road at a somewhat busy intersection, so if you enjoy sitting and looking out the window at traffic as it goes by, which I love, this location is a good choice. They have a beautiful outdoor seating area with plenty of space, and the indoor seating options, although limited, are a great option as well. I have no complaints about the customer service here. They have always been friendly at this location and helpful when I'm having a hard time deciding what to get because there are often so many good options. read more

If you've been here for longer than, like, three minutes, you already know that I am a Tala fan. I love the coffee and the community, and was excited to visit their newest location. It did not disappoint! The new setting is beautiful. There are a variety of seating options, which is going to make this a hot spot for meetings and study groups. There's a ton of natural light, and the patio is expansive with views of downtown Winnetka. The coffee was, as always, perfect. I had an oat milk gingerbead latte on this trip and stood at the counter near the windows watching holiday lights come on while I enjoyed my beverage. Am I romanticizing coffee? Probably. But the drink had the perfect amount of ginger spice, balanced with the creamy oat milk and rich espresso. When I left, I went to the Home Alone house just because the latte got me in the holiday spirit! Congrats to Tala on another smooth opening.
