It's only fitting that my 600th review is one of my go-to spots. Just a quick update that this place is awesome. Love the community vibes and staff are great. Also they have very cute cups for the holiday season, which brings me joy. (I bribed myself to come here today to get bunch of finals week grading done, so the fun cups honestly makes it a little more fun).

We're big Tala fans! Our usual cafe if the Libertyville headquarters - but while in the area, we had to try the Winnetka location. What a unique building. Parking was difficult to figure out as a newbie. We passed the lot and had to make a massive circle through the neighborhood to get back on track. Learn from us - don't miss the parking on Green Bay Rd. There is lots of outdoor seating, which I'm sure is nice in the warmer months. The interior of the cafe is bright and open, with lots of seating. We experienced the same warm welcome and friendly atmosphere at this cafe. I ordered a mint tea and my son was thrilled to grab some Holcomb Hollow treats. A must visit - Tala is a local gem and their hospitality, heart, warmth, and service extends across the many locations.

I must say, as a barista myself I have heard many things prior about this place. Great people running it, great roasting and great put together drinks. I can say this lived up to the hype. The coffee beans were lightly roasted with notes of caramel and smooth velvety milk. The barista knew exactly what he was talking about and my experience with the views and naturally light in the cafe made for an even better experience. Lovely place and will definitely be back.

My second time visiting and this time I tried the ube latte with a chorizo breakfast burrito. The ube latte was okay. It could've been a tad sweeter. The chorizo burrito was okay as well. Although a handheld food, I'm surprised it's not served with a fork because most of the contents fell out anyway. I will add my husband ordered the horchata latte and he enjoyed it.

This was actually so disappointing. Ordered a 12oz specialty latte and a breakfast sandwich. It cost $19.50. Outrageous prices, but I liked their coffee before so it was fine. The coquito latte I ordered tasted like sweet milk, the barista said there are 2 shots in it but I find that very hard to believe. I didn't taste any coffee, the latte was tinted beige so there was probably some in it The breakfast sandwhich on the other hand... was disgusting. I should've expected it would've been bad, but it was recommended to me. It had a couple pieces of wet soggy bacon, and a perfect circle of what I think is egg. I'm t was also drenched in some kind of wet juice stuff, not sure if it's cheese, or bacon grease, I don't know. But I do know that it shouldn't cost $12. The picture speaks for itself. I'm pretty disappointed by the steep prices and low quality of this place.

I actually really like this coffee shop! There's a good amount of parking, a nice outdoor area, and the interior is great! Very clean. Staff is very nice and informative. They had great beans and amazing drinks! I got the pour over and my buddy got the iced backbone and we both loved them! The backbone also came in a metal straw which we loved. Definitely recommend!

Super cute cafe right by the metra tracks. Love the ambiance and the location. Standard menu with everything you'd expect, including matcha and chai. Love their lattes!

Delicious coffee with fun flavors. Homemade syrups which is what I always look for in a good local coffee shop. Plenty of space inside and outside to work or hangout Nice employees who are very helpful and informative on different drinks

A Brew-tiful Experience at Tala Coffee Roasters! I recently visited Tala Coffee's newest location in Winnetka for the first time after opening up nearly two years after the initial announcement of the new café. Working nearby I imagine this café may become my go-to spot for a caffeine fix. The location itself is a gem - nestled in what used to be a car service station steps away from a Metra rail line, the transformation is impressive and adds a unique charm to the entire experience. Although we are in the midst of winter I can see this spot becoming a great scene in the warmer months with their plentiful outdoor seating offerings. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the coffee. The brews here are nothing short of fantastic! Whether you're a fan of robust espressos or prefer a smooth latte, Tala has you covered. The baristas are not only skilled but also passionate about their craft, and it truly reflects in every sip. The variety of beans they offer for drinks and take-home is commendable, and I appreciate the effort they put into sourcing high-quality coffee. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with ample seating both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating area, set against the backdrop of the old service station, adds a touch of nostalgia. It will be a great place to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy some quiet me-time with. Now, onto a couple of areas that could use a bit of improvement. The wifi signal here tends to be a bit weak to non-existent, which can be a slight inconvenience for those looking to get some work done or browse the web. It would be great if they could boost the signal to provide a more reliable connection for customers. A few more food options on the menu, especially some delicious donuts or muffins to pair with the fantastic coffee, would take the experience to the next level. Despite these minor areas for improvement, Tala Coffee Roasters has won me over with its great coffee, unique location, and friendly atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning, and I hope to see the wifi and menu offerings get even better in the future. Cheers to the team for creating such a delightful coffee haven on the North Shore!

The drinks are just okay, and the ambiance is lacking. It's a fine place, but I think there are much better places around the area

My companion and I stopped here after an afternoon of shopping. In the evening, the Cafe is considerably quieter, and I saw that the bakery case was almost empty. My friend ordered the shrimp and corn salad and a biscuit -- but they were out of biscuits. I ordered the tomato soup and one of the sad lonely cookies that were left. We sat in a booth (the decor seems a little dated) and a wait staff confirms your order and brings your beverage. I like that they still keep refilling your diet coke from a carafe. My friend enjoyed his salad and the tomato soup was the same as before -- rich and tangy and tomatoey. The cookie was good -- would have been even better warmed. The food is pretty good. I think all of the salads are great. It's livelier during the day -- in the evening it seemed a little sad. They used to give you a little chocolate wafer when you finished -- but not this time!

We're currently active in three Illinois Youth Centers--Chicago, Warrenville, and St. Charles--as well as at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. I often interview my students about their creative work, and recently I met up with one of them to talk about a powerful piece he created for our Locked Achievements gallery show. During our conversation, he mentioned he'd been gaining work experience at Curt's Café--so naturally, I had to see it for myself. Tucked in the heart of Evanston, Curt's Café is warm, welcoming, and beautifully intentional. As soon as I walked in, I spotted not just one but two of my students working behind the counter. That moment alone made my day. The café has a comforting vibe and a menu that caters to everyone--even someone like me on a cleanse. I grabbed a vegan dish featuring sweet potatoes and kale, and it hit all the right spots. Clean, hearty, and full of flavor. What makes this place even more special is the mission: Curt's Café is dedicated to giving young people a second chance through employment, life skills training, and mentorship. They're doing real, restorative work--and it shows. I even found out they're hosting an art showcase on May 3rd, and there's a chance some of our students' pieces from Locked Achievements will be featured in their gallery space. If you're ever in Evanston, do yourself a favor: stop by Curt's Café. The food is great, the mission is inspiring, and your support goes a long way. Check out their website to learn more. Five stars--because how do you rate a place that serves up hope and sweet potatoes?

Lots of customers either working or socializing with their group of friends. Decor was nice and modern. Service and Ambiance Grade: A+ I ordered a cortado, Anytime Toast, and a Gigantic Pretzel. The Cortado was nice and strong. They did not skimp in any way and came in a double shot glass. (Cortados generally come in that size.) Grade: B+ The Anytime Toast comes on a whole grain toast with Avocado, Bacon, Tomato, Egg (I requested fried), Giardinera, and a slice of green apple. Very tasty I must say! It normally comes either salted or cinnamon sugared, but I opted for just butter. You also have the option of choosing 3 out of 5 dips...beer cheese, yellow mustard, dijon mustard, chocolate, and/or sweet cream. I chose cheese, yellow mustard, and my favorite was the sweet cream!
