    Gumbo shooter

Such a fun experience! Excellent server who explained everything beautifully. Wine selection limited but everyone found a drink they liked. Gumbo shooters are yummy and a nice small taste. Grouper was outstanding! Others in the party had shrimp and grits with andouille, and bbq platters. Inventive baked beans with brittle, and amazing potato wedges as sides. We split a trio of desserts. Raves all around. Casual boppy ambiance, loud but fun!

Made a reservation before a show at Ravinia for three of us. Service was wonderful and everything we ordered was delicious. It's a cozy little spot and they were busy the whole time we were there. They knew we were going to the show so they got us in and out as quickly as we needed without rushing us. Would love to go back again!

What an absolute dining pleasure. Friendly, welcoming staff and phenomenal meals and drinks. Highly recommend the Orange Sesame Chicken and Crawfish Étouffée. Ongoing Mardi Gras celebration was extremely festive. Have the Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned and/or Bluegrass Martini. You won't be disappointed. Finished our meal with Icebox Pie and Key Lime Pie. Wonderful ambience to top things off. Extremely enjoyable and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

We chose Bluegrass because we celebrated our 10th anniversary here and really enjoyed it, so why not celebrate our 25th anniversary at the same place? The story: We made a reservation in advance for 5:30pm, which was confirmed twice. We arrive a few minutes early and are seated right away. There are a few tables already seated and a couple at the bar. Pretty quiet. Lovely server named Jazmine takes our order and we're off to a good start. Jazmine delivers the drinks, our appetizer, and the bad news - the kitchen has "sold out" of the Tuesday Trio special (chicken, ribs, brisket) that my husband ordered 10 minutes ago because there is no more chicken. It's 5:30pm on a Tuesday and they've sold out of chicken. What?!? We need to know more and inquire. Apparently, the restaurant allows certain patrons to reserve the chicken special ahead of time and come in whenever they damn well please to receive their prize birds. Reluctantly, my husband reorders some other bbq plate that he wasn't excited about and we spent the rest of our meal watching customers come in and be served their Tuesday Trios with CHICKEN! Our server was great and clearly embarrassed that our order couldn't be fulfilled because the birds were reserved by regulars who are in the know about covert chicken deals. The FOH manager literally checked in on every table, specifically asking about the delicious chicken, and avoided us like the plague. We could have been annoyed, but the whole situation was so ridiculous that we could not stop laughing. The food is decent at Bluegrass. Solidly good, but no longer great like it used to be. The restaurant decor is super dated and has gotten a bit icky after 20 years in business. And truly, we just can't support your covert chicken reservation policy. Jazmine deserves 5 stars and we tipped her accordingly, but Bluegrass is a not a place we will ever dine again.

Stopped in here for dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was busy! We only had to wait 15 minutes for a table, and the service was quite quick! The restaurant had a cute, fun bar area that you can sit at as well. They start you off with some warm bread and this amazing butter. We ordered the Mushroom Broil for an appetizer, which I thought was so tasty. The Gruyère cheese mixed with the mushrooms was so good. For dinner, my husband got the shrimp jambalaya and I got the crawfish etouffee. I had never had etouffee before, but as a crawfish lover I knew I had to try it, and I was not disappointed. It was so good! We can't wait to return to try more menus off their large menu!

Does this restaurant have a party room that can be reserved? And if so, how many guests can it hold?

Unfortunately not, we have one dining room and one patio. We can do lager parties at certain times pending the size of the group.

Looks great but I'm allergic to seafood. Can these be made without?

Sure, we always have a chef on the line.

Are there gluten free options here?

Yes but I would tell them that you are Gluten free when you order just to be on the safe side.

Are there any vegan or vegetarian options here?

Yes there are some vegetarian options

For appetizers, we ordered the baked feta and the beef tartare. The baked feta was excellent. The tartare offered a creative twist on a classic; while it was slightly underseasoned for my taste, it was still enjoyable. The raw egg on top was an interesting addition. As we relaxed and enjoyed our drinks and starters, we saw several dishes coming out of the kitchen that looked fantastic, which built up our anticipation for the entrées. However, before ordering, our server informed us they were out of the lamb chops and duck--disappointing, as the lamb in particular looked great. My wife initially ordered the skirt steak, while the rest of us chose the Bistro Tampiqueña. Shortly after, our server--who was very polite and professional--returned to let us know they were also out of skirt steak, offering ribeye as a substitute, which we agreed to. My wife then switched her order to whitefish. A few minutes later, the situation took a turn: the server came back again and informed us that they were completely out of all meat. On a Saturday night, around 7:15pm. That's a tough pill to swallow at any restaurant. At that point, we settled for our third and fourth choices. Two of us ordered the shrimp risotto, which was a generous portion, creamy, and well-executed with a good amount of shrimp. I had the seafood pasta, which also came with a generous portion of seafood. However, the arrabbiata sauce was very mild--almost bland. I had to add crushed red pepper and parmesan to bring it to life. It would have been much better if it had delivered the bold flavor you expect from a true arrabbiata. We asked to speak with a manager about the situation. After about 20 minutes, Chef Miguel came out to address another table experiencing the same issue. He took full responsibility for the ordering mistake and apologized sincerely. He comped us a tiramisu and a round of cocktails, which we appreciated. That said, while the food we did have was good, the overall experience was overshadowed by the fact that so much of the menu was unavailable. It's hard to return to a restaurant when you can't rely on the menu being there--especially on a Saturday night.

We were seated promptly. The place is a little louder than I prefer; we had a 2 top booth in the rear of the resto that tempered the sound level a bit, but keep in mind it's not a "quiet place". The menu is straightforward; pizzas, pastas, proteins. We started with the arancini; they were great (and a large portion, to boot). I had the house made pasta with Bolognese, and she had the chicken piccata. Both dishes were wonderful; again, really large portions. It wasn't so much a speakeasy because it was not hidden, but that didn't really matter to us once we were there . I thought the focal point would be a bar in the middle of the restaurant, but there was never any bar that I could locate so that was also confusing. The food was really good. We had black garlic, deviled eggs, some tuna tartare and a lamb Ragu that was really good. So if you're looking for speakeasy, this is not really a speakeasy, but it has really good Asian food so just an FYI when browsing the Internet.
