This was our first time at Kitchen House Cafe and we had a great experience. The food was so good! We started with the khachapuri, which came out piping hot with a perfectly runny egg yolk and melted cheese--absolute melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I still think about it and it's a must-order if you're dining here. We also tried the borsch, which was beautifully presented and very tasty. We rounded out our meal with draniki and Georgian Ostri, both of which were quite good. The staff was friendly, though the service was a bit slow. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back again.

I had learned that over the past few years, a number of Georgian restaurants had opened in the Wheeling area, and I was excited to visit one the next time I was in the area (usually once a year). Another Yelp friend also here for the same event found Kitchen House Cafe, conveniently less than a mile from the hotel at which we were all staying. Our group dinner was everything I had hoped it would be, with great and friendly service, a fine selection of Georgian wines, and those delicious traditional Georgian foods. The Georgian wines included both red and white options. I was disappointed not to see any Didebuli, but the Saperavi we ordered was terrific with a very rich flavor. It paired well with everything. I think among the 9 of us we sampled just about every entree on the menu, and of course several of the cheese boats. Mine was the most traditional, with butter, cheese, and egg, and it was perfectly crisp on the outside. We of course saved some of the pastry to dip in the juices of the other entrees. And I need one of those wine glass cleaners like they have here. We did not have dessert here, but there are many good options, because they are also a bakery, with a counter displaying many decadent looking options.

When in Chicago we love to check out the amazing options for international cuisine. Never having had Georgian food before and seeing positive reviews we decided to give it a try. Firstly, I love that they have so many wines from Georgia but if you're not adventurous, they have many more main stream options. We began with the Khinkali which were incredible. Next we shared the Tbilisi salad which was substantial and finished with the lamb Shashlik. Schweety thought it was some of the best lamb he had ever had in a restaurant. The presentation and spicy sauce were excellent. There was definitely a language barrier but the menu gives excellent descriptions. Also, the atmosphere is leisurely. Sit back and relax over delicious food.

A little gem hidden away, you could drive by it and not notice it. The food is great! They also offer a great selection of Georgian wines. It had been a while since we tried Georgian food, and this place didn't disappoint. The service is what you would expect from a small family run business, everyone trying their best. The music is nostalgic and the vibe friendly. They would do really well if they upgraded their decor and moved closer to downtown Chicago! They would get on the guide, eater, all of it! My 5 stars for now. I'll always visit when back in town. Highly recommended.

I love the decor, love that there's a georgian restaurant to fill the void ever since that other georgian takeout place closed. So I truly want to like this place with 5 stars. Spacious place so it is good for group gathering. However, the service is hit or miss. They always carry a smile on their face. But we asked for tap water when we ordered, and the water didn't turn up till i went up to the counter to ask again...Maybe she didn't understand/hear what I was asking the first time around =/ Food was ok, kinda pricey for the portion size. Nice presentation but not the best I had. The Georgian Kaurma was a good dish, but just wish it was reheated thoroughly. There were some luke warm spot while some part of the dish were quite hot. The cabbage rolls had a good flavour, but for the price, the 4 pieces were merely a "momo" dumpling size.

Authentic Georgian cuisine with a great staff, though be prepared to Google some of what's on the menu as their English is limited. Khacapuri and khinkai are Georgian staples but also don't miss out on the potato pancakes and Shkmeruli (Georgian style chicken).

Food was delicious. Friendly staff. Food took long though, probably because everything is made to order. Would definitely go back.

Georgian cuisine is one of my favorites! A wonderful place with great service. Kharcho is a very rich soup. Khinkali are incredibly delicious and juicy! As for the shashlik -- I'm at a loss for words!

This is not the first time we eat here every time when we visit Chicago and this place never disappoints. Every item from the menu is very delicious with authentic Georgian (European) flavor. The portions are generous enough. We shared almost everything. But even if you'd have leftovers, they will be good to take home. We will be coming back here during the next visit to Chicago for sure.

This place was recommended by a friend who couldn't stop raving about it. First and foremost, the service was incredible. We were helped by Sofie and (forgive me if I'm wrong but I think Victoria). They were the nicest girls. Sofie really helped by giving some suggestions and explaining what we were eating. Most importantly we decided to do a wine flight of their 4 favorites. I ended up loooving the red Saperavi wine. Very savory. Then our group decided to try a little of everything and basically ordered the whole menu. Below is a list of all the food we ate, starting with my most favorite but it was alllll sooooo good. The Adjaruli Khachapuri and Khinkali boiled beef-pork were outtttttstanding. Loved. Loved. Loved. But I think the star of the show was the Kebabs, easily the largest and juiciest kabobs I've ever had. The spice mix on it was subtle but by no means lacked taste. And the Khinkali were grade A. I want to get them every time. It is a really nice looking place and the only bummer is they are only open a few days a week, so when I visit I don't always get to go. I would say the food is expensive but not overpriced. We had 3-4 orders of kebabs that fed 6 people and had leftovers. Tucked unassumingly in a shopping mall in Mundelein, Ararat is a tiny hidden gem. With only about an 8 table dining room, it is a cozy, intimate venue, with a huge and amazing menu, featuring Armenian cuisine. A party of 4, we ordered drinks, 3 appetizers, and an entree for each of us. The portions were generous, delicious, and we probably over-ordered by at least one appetizer, but we wanted to sample and share as many dishes as possible. We began with glasses of tasty Armenian apricot wine. Our appetizers came out in sequence rather than all at once, starting with Italian Lady's Fingers. A mixed salad of cooked bell peppers, nuts, onion and prunes. Very good. Next we were served Khorovats, Armenian style grilled eggplant . Also an excellent dish. Last was beef and lamb dumplings, Khinkili. One of these large, juicy dumplings could have been almost half a meal by itself. I've tried khinkili in a number of restaurants, and these were the best I've eaten. Our entrees were Steak Kebab, Lamb Kebab, Lamb Rice Pilaf, and Frikasse, a chicken, mushroom, vegetable in sour cream sauce dish. All were very good, and were were saddened that we were all too full to try any of their baked goods desserts. The meal was excellent, the small dining room comfy and the service very good. One word of caution: If you plan to dine here you must be patient. Dishes were served as they were prepared, and apparantly little if anything is prepared in advance. The advantage is hot, fresh, and tasty dishes. The disadvantage is that there was a 10 minute delay between service of the 1st and 4th entree. We were in no hurry, so we did not mind. Also we were sharing our selection. For a casual, relaxed, delicious dining adventure I highly recommend Ararat.
