When in Chicago we love to check out the amazing options for international cuisine. Never having had Georgian food before and seeing positive reviews we decided to give it a try. Firstly, I love that they have so many wines from Georgia but if you're not adventurous, they have many more main stream options. We began with the Khinkali which were incredible. Next we shared the Tbilisi salad which was substantial and finished with the lamb Shashlik. Schweety thought it was some of the best lamb he had ever had in a restaurant. The presentation and spicy sauce were excellent. There was definitely a language barrier but the menu gives excellent descriptions. Also, the atmosphere is leisurely. Sit back and relax over delicious food.

A little gem hidden away, you could drive by it and not notice it. The food is great! They also offer a great selection of Georgian wines. It had been a while since we tried Georgian food, and this place didn't disappoint. The service is what you would expect from a small family run business, everyone trying their best. The music is nostalgic and the vibe friendly. They would do really well if they upgraded their decor and moved closer to downtown Chicago! They would get on the guide, eater, all of it! My 5 stars for now. I'll always visit when back in town. Highly recommended.

I love the decor, love that there's a georgian restaurant to fill the void ever since that other georgian takeout place closed. So I truly want to like this place with 5 stars. Spacious place so it is good for group gathering. However, the service is hit or miss. They always carry a smile on their face. But we asked for tap water when we ordered, and the water didn't turn up till i went up to the counter to ask again...Maybe she didn't understand/hear what I was asking the first time around =/ Food was ok, kinda pricey for the portion size. Nice presentation but not the best I had. The Georgian Kaurma was a good dish, but just wish it was reheated thoroughly. There were some luke warm spot while some part of the dish were quite hot. The cabbage rolls had a good flavour, but for the price, the 4 pieces were merely a "momo" dumpling size.

Georgian cuisine is one of my favorites! A wonderful place with great service. Kharcho is a very rich soup. Khinkali are incredibly delicious and juicy! As for the shashlik -- I'm at a loss for words!

Food was delicious. Friendly staff. Food took long though, probably because everything is made to order. Would definitely go back.

Authentic Georgian cuisine with a great staff, though be prepared to Google some of what's on the menu as their English is limited. Khacapuri and khinkai are Georgian staples but also don't miss out on the potato pancakes and Shkmeruli (Georgian style chicken).

This is not the first time we eat here every time when we visit Chicago and this place never disappoints. Every item from the menu is very delicious with authentic Georgian (European) flavor. The portions are generous enough. We shared almost everything. But even if you'd have leftovers, they will be good to take home. We will be coming back here during the next visit to Chicago for sure.

! , :) , . ! wonderful place with great service and tasty food! We ordered borscht and khinkali, it was delicious. The restaurant area is nice and cozy. We will definitely come back!

I've never tried Georgian food before, and I'm glad I stopped by this charming location to sample some of their menu! There is a small patio/sidewalk seating area, but we opted to sit indoors because of the interesting booth and wall decor (and air conditioning!). The khachapuri was very fresh, and the crust was satisfyingly crispy, light, and fluffy. We also had the Georgian soup, and it was delicious as well. Service was friendly and accommodating.

Decided to try Pirosmani and SO glad we did . It's located in a strip mall in Wheeling . There are a few bar stools to eat your food there but if you have a big crowd, plan on taking your food to go. The girl in front was very helpful telling us what things are and what they are made of . If things are served hot or cold . We picked out a few things to try and not one of them were bad ! The cheese pie, the two rolled up eggplants , the chicken kabab, corn cakes, the chicken sandwich, and even the fun pops were all delicious . Today is my birthday so I wanted to try something different and new and so happy I did . Another girl came out from the back and chatted with us. Both girls were so sweet and helpful. They informed us the place next door is owned by the same person s, which is another Georgian restaurant, so we will be visiting them next . They gave me this dried fruit and nut log for my birthday for free too. Only thing was they didn't have the cheese and egg "bowl" or the dumplings to eat there they were ready to bring home frozen though . But that wasn't enough to take away a start .

It's a small and cute shop, but there's so much to choose from. I wasn't very hungry so I decided to order three small items. I got the Georgian Cookie, Cottage Cheese Cookie with Walnut and Meringue, and the Syrniki. The Syrniki was PHENOMENAL and a dream. The outside is golden brown and the inside is so fluffy, the flavor was outstanding and made me want to savor every last morsel. My second favorite was the Georgian Cookie, which had a beautifully rich, nutty, and buttery flavor. The Cottage Cheese Cookie was great, but it was my least favorite of the three. I did come back here the next day and I ordered a Golden Raisin Syrniki (it was perfect in taste but could use more raisins), the Penovani (it was delicious and I was lucky when it just came out hot), and the Potato Pie (which I liked the least but it was still good). Overall, this is a great place to try and I highly recommend it. I'll be coming back

We are lucky to have a wide range of cuisine options near our place in Andersonville, and now we can add Turkish-Georgian fusion to our regular rotation. We had a wonderful meal there--I took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu and ordered cioppino. Half the time I order seafood in a restaurant, I end up with rubbery shrimp and tasteless fish. Not at Oda. Their seafood stew was filled with great stuff. My wife had tokat chicken, which she also enjoyed. The humus, Khachapuri, salad and dessert flight were also excellent. It would be fun to go there with a group. It's an ideal place for a shared-plate night out with friends. But there is one thing--like most restaurants in the city, the tables are close together, which is totally fine. We're not looking for Applebee's-type table separation when we go out. Even when you get a table a few inches between two others, it takes about 30 seconds to isolate your own conversation and enjoy your meal, unless you're next to a table where the diners are essentially yelling at each other. I'm not talking about a couple fighting about money or a bunch of 30-somethings getting rowdy on Moscow mules and umami burgers during a night out without their kids. I'm talking about two people yelling--in a friendly way--about the most mundane subject of all: their coworkers. We noticed as soon as we sat down but by the time we considered asking to be moved, the three tables nearby were filled. No big deal. It was kind of entertaining, in an eardrum-splitting way. Their conversation was shockingly loud. And not just the statements, like "SHE THINKS SHE'S IN LINE FOR HIS JOB," but also the brief conversational acknowledgements, like "YEAH! FOR SURE!" It was like sitting next to dueling car alarms. If you're familiar with Pee-Wee's Playhouse, picture the obnoxious salesman who loudly blah-blah-blahs his way to a quickly slammed door, courtesy of Mr. Herman, but two of them whose faces are two feet apart. And we had no door to slam. All that being said, this isn't a knock on the restaurant at all. And since Oda is so close and so good, we'll be back. And hopefully by then, Josh from accounting figures out how to use Smartsheet--"RIGHT? IT'S RIDICULOUS!"--so if we do end up next to the Decibel Duo, we'll have a new workplace dilemma to listen to.

So much of the menu appealed to me, and I don't go out for Mediterranean often, so it was super difficult to choose a meal (family style would have been ideal but with Mediterranean we couldn't have more diverse preferences). So I ended up opting for two small/lighter dishes to have my own tasting: the mini eggplant roulades and soup (I tried to order the chicken meatball on the menu, but they only had butternut squash). The mini eggplant roulades were just DEVINE. So unique and so fresh. The soup was really good - since it wasn't on the menu I had no description when ordering - it ended up having some curry spice which isn't my favorite (specifically cumin) but still enjoyed it. Our server was really friendly, originally from Turkey and was receptive to my parents' excitement over our upcoming trip to Istanbul. We weren't rushed on a weekend evening. The restaurant was really nice and pleasant atmosphere. A little more upscale than I was expecting. I would absolutely love to go back here and try more of the menu. Although I know the struggle would be real to not repeat the eggplant roulades.

Tucked unassumingly in a shopping mall in Mundelein, Ararat is a tiny hidden gem. With only about an 8 table dining room, it is a cozy, intimate venue, with a huge and amazing menu, featuring Armenian cuisine. A party of 4, we ordered drinks, 3 appetizers, and an entree for each of us. The portions were generous, delicious, and we probably over-ordered by at least one appetizer, but we wanted to sample and share as many dishes as possible. We began with glasses of tasty Armenian apricot wine. Our appetizers came out in sequence rather than all at once, starting with Italian Lady's Fingers. A mixed salad of cooked bell peppers, nuts, onion and prunes. Very good. Next we were served Khorovats, Armenian style grilled eggplant . Also an excellent dish. Last was beef and lamb dumplings, Khinkili. One of these large, juicy dumplings could have been almost half a meal by itself. I've tried khinkili in a number of restaurants, and these were the best I've eaten. Our entrees were Steak Kebab, Lamb Kebab, Lamb Rice Pilaf, and Frikasse, a chicken, mushroom, vegetable in sour cream sauce dish. All were very good, and were were saddened that we were all too full to try any of their baked goods desserts. The meal was excellent, the small dining room comfy and the service very good. One word of caution: If you plan to dine here you must be patient. Dishes were served as they were prepared, and apparantly little if anything is prepared in advance. The advantage is hot, fresh, and tasty dishes. The disadvantage is that there was a 10 minute delay between service of the 1st and 4th entree. We were in no hurry, so we did not mind. Also we were sharing our selection. For a casual, relaxed, delicious dining adventure I highly recommend Ararat.
