We went with a large group and had a set menu. From the amazing fresh crunchy soft bread to the authentic Greek dishes, we were all satisfied and full. Loved the Bronzino grilled chicken and octopus. Basically everything . Good service throughout and Theo the owner came by personally to check. Theo was nice enough to let us have their loaf of fresh bread to go. Highly recommended for your Greek meal and for large groups.

My mom and I came on a Saturday night after seeing all the great reviews. The restaurant was very busy and only takes walk-ins, so we waited about 40 minutes in the lobby before being seated. Even though it was packed, we were both able to find parking in the free lot, which was a plus. Once seated, service was quick and friendly. They start you off with warm bread and Greek olive oil, such a simple touch but so good. We ordered the fried calamari to start, and it was fresh, crispy, and perfectly done. For mains, I had the grilled chicken with oven potatoes, and my mom had the pork chop with fries. Both dishes were very good and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, I found a gray human hair in my chicken, which I only realized after it was in my mouth, which was honestly so gross and disappointing because the food really was delicious. The waiter handled it kindly, immediately offering to make a new dish for me. The replacement dish had no issues after that. Up until that moment, I had been raving about the food. The quality, service, and flavors were all strong. I just hope that was a one-time mishap.

Finally got to try this place we've been driving by for decades. Absolutely adored our experience tonight. We were seated right away. Their outdoor patio was so charming. Every dish we tried were amazing. Service was attentive but not overwhelming. A new favorite Greek restaurant. Absolutely worth the drive.

My family loves this place. Therefore , when a family Baptism occurred recently, the natural choice of dinner venue was Plateia Mediterranean restaurant. This is a Greek owned restaurant and the menu features Greek cuisine. The food here is consistently delicious. The service is prompt and cordial. The wait staff are efficient and polite. As everyone was seated the food began to trickle out. First a plate with small slices of Pita Bread and 3 different flavors of Hummus. Salad was next to be delivered to our table. The Greek Salad here is so delicious , served with Feta cheese and Pita Bread , that after eating the salad and hummus with pita bread you become sated. But wait ! Now comes the entree. Choices were Salmon, Chicken Ka-Bob, and Beef. I always opt for the chicken ka Bob. The chicken is served on skewers with a tangy Tzatziki sauce, Rice , Pita bread and veggies. It is soooo good. Wine , water , coffee , tea and soda pop were the beverages served for dinner. After dinner we headed for the sweet table which had various delicacies such as torts , cheese cake , baklava , parfait cups and sweet pretzel sticks covered with icing. Most of us requested boxes to take home our delicious leftovers. We were stuffed. Plenty of parking available in their private lot. This restaurant is open to the public and has side rooms to accommodate private parties and weddings. This restaurant is consistently on point with service , food , decor and ambiance. If you like Greek cuisine, this is a restaurant that you must visit. Oppaaaa

I have been visiting this restaurant since the day it opened and I'm not sure how this is possibly my first or one a few reviews of this place. I am so pleased that they survived Covid and while I did visit them during Covid and saw some of their changes, I'm so glad to see that they have come back in full swing with a full menu This place is always packed as it should be. It is legit and authentic. It is clean and delicious while being consistent. I love coming here because it's nearby instead of going into the city. I love that there's lots of parking however when it's busy, beware there may not be any parking, but it is free if you park it yourself If you're looking for classic dishes and recipes this is the place. The owners are Greek and everything about this place exudes Greek.

Well, 7.5 years after my one and only review of this place, it seems a good time for an update especially as we have had numerous carryouts from here as well as a few dine-ins.  Tonight, our party of 4 had a Friday night dinner at this vibrant, upbeat, and bustling place.  With 1083 Yelp reviews and a 4.3 average rating, it is one of the most reviewed businesses in this area, and their high rating is well deserved. They don't take reservations, so that tables aren't tied up. We still had only a 10 minute wait on a busy Friday night and the place was about 90% full with good turnover.  These guys run a well-oiled machine, and piping hot, high quality, and delicious dishes are brought out fairly readily.  They don't dilly-dally but they don't rush you here either.   So, we ordered: - complimentary hot and very fresh bread with olive oil was brought out - beet salad ($14) and chargrilled octopus ($22) for appetizers - lamb psito (ie, lamb shank), $35 - lavraki (ie, chargrilled branzino) with a side of green beans, $32 - shrimp and linguine, $29 - chargrilled chicken with mixed veggies, $22  For dessert, we shared a strawberry nutella crepe ($10) and an ekmek (a shredded kataifi concoction, $10).  I also had a Fix Greek lager beer ($6), and the last time I had one of those, it was here in 2017, ha. Every single dish including the complimentary bread was tip-top fresh, flavorful, and delicious.  The portion sizes are also good for the prices but we already knew that quite well.  The only slight knocks were that the nutella crepe was a little chewy and not as fresh as everything else.  The green beans were swimming in an oily sauce, but I guess that's the way they serve that side dish.  Otherwise, all was quite excellent, and it was a 5 star dinner for sure.  We've never had ekmek and it was a delightful dessert.  Evangelos was also our very capable, knowledgeable, and engaging all-pro Greek server.  It was also fun just watching him do his thing in a very busy dining room while we were eating. As another aside, I don't know what they're feeding them, but all of the servers were like big and fit football players, just sayin'! The bar room by the entrance was also very active, boisterous, and bustling all night.  The vibrant dining room was also on the loud side fyi.  As I have said in the past, and continue to say, I highly recommend this place as it's one of the best around!

Parking lot was larger than expected and unlike most Greek places, there wasn't mandatory valet , at least not on a weeknight. We met at 5p without reservations with just two of us on a Thursday. We were seated immediately. The service was ridiculously fast. We ordered quickly and it seemed the food came within 5 minutes. We were first through fresh bread and were offered more if we wanted it. The bread was denser than other Greek breads and warm. I loved it. I had the pastitsio which was excellent. Not quite as rich as I've had before which I preferred. My friend had the pasta which was creamy and good. The place was pretty much packed by 6 which surprised us for a Thursday but never too loud. Lots of space between tables and the atmosphere was light and beautiful.

They don't take reservations. It gets really busy in the evening after 6:30pm especially on the weekends. Recommend getting there earlier if you have a larger party. Their outside patio looks really nice. If you have a chance to eat outside, you should do it. I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday with my family and they charge you for bringing in a cake outside of the restaurant. The food portions are large and the pricing is great. If you are dining inside, it can get loud. I had the chicken riganati and it was really good. The chicken was tender and juicy. Service was good too.

Had a really nice time on a hot Sunday afternoon. Very nice decor, dined with a party of 7. The group ordered the fried calamari. I'm not a calamari fan in general, but it tasted pretty good. For my main dish I ordered the skewers. One chicken, one pork. They were very good. Good seasoning, great char. The pita was nice and soft, slightly dough just like i like. The vegetables were OK. The service was good as well. Overall it was a nice experience. I don't live in the area, but if I'm out that way I would definitely go back.

Ask the Community - Plateia Mediterranean Kitchen Bar

Are there good dairy/egg free options? My friend has a pretty severe allergy.

Yes there is and view their menu to see for yourself.

    Gluten free options available?

YES! I had lunch with a friend who is STRICT gluten free and she had many options. Really like this restaurant.

Do they have "soft shell crabs" ?...If not, anyone know where they are on the menu in North Shore !!

I don't think so on Plateia. I would go to Renga Tei in Lincolnwood, but would call first to see if they still offer. They change the menu sometimes, and they used to have delicious soft shell crab anyway.

What's the origins of the food ? Which middle eastern country?

    I believe it's Greek.

    Are there any vegan options?

    Yes. There are many choices

    Is this place BYOB friendly?

Don't believe so. Have not asked but they serve alcohol and have a full bar so assuming not

What do you think is the best option to eat for kids or teenagers?

They do have a few options on the menu designated for kids. Skewer of chicken or pork souvlaki w/fries, penne with choice of marinara or butter, kid’s portion of homemade Greek style beef patty w/fries, or homemade chicken tenders w/fries.

Does this place have vegetarian options?

Yes, they certainly do. I highly recommend the zucchini fritters! Review their menu on line and you'll see quite a few options.

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a warm, cozy atmosphere. It feels upscale without being pretentious, which made it a great place for a special occasion. Our server was friendly and helpful, so we asked for recommendations and ended up ordering a variety of dishes to share. We started with the Sweet Corn Hummus, which came with their complimentary pita bread. The pita was phenomenal! It isn't your typical plain pita you find at most Mediterranean restaurants. It has a delicious seasoning that makes it incredibly flavorful, and paired perfectly with the sweet corn hummus. We also tried the Moroccan Onion Dip. It has a slightly sweet flavor with noticeable cardamom notes. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Next time, I'll probably order the popular spicy whipped feta instead. One of our favorite dishes of the night was the Hamachi & Charred Avocado. It was light, fresh, and packed with flavor. Every bite was delicious. We also shared the Brussels Sprouts & Honeycrisp Apple Salad. The dressing was fresh and flavorful, but I realized I'm just not a fan of raw Brussels sprouts. The texture was a little too tough for my liking. That's on me--I should have asked beforehand if they were served raw. I think I'd enjoy it much more if the sprouts were roasted, so I probably wouldn't order this one again. For our hot mezze, we chose the Sweet Potato Latkes. They were very tasty with great flavor, although they were just a little on the greasy side. For our entrées, we ordered the Faroe Islands Salmon and the Shawarma-Spiced Skirt Steak Frites. The salmon kebabs over rice were my favorite dish of the evening. They were perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and something I'd absolutely order again. The skirt steak had great flavor as well. Although we requested medium, it came out closer to medium-rare. Thankfully, I'd rather have it slightly under than overcooked. The only disappointment on the plate was the fries--they tasted dry, almost like they had been refried instead of served fresh. The highlight of the meal, however, was dessert. The Triple Chocolate Torte was absolutely incredible. It wasn't overly sweet, the chocolate mousse was smooth and creamy, and the cake itself was rich, velvety, and decadent without being heavy. It was the perfect ending to the meal. And as part of the birthday celebration they served us frozen yogurt with sumac strawberry sauce which was so delicious. Overall, we had a fantastic birthday dinner. While there were a couple of dishes I probably wouldn't order again, the excellent service, inviting atmosphere, and several standout dishes made for a memorable experience. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

We decided it was not a good idea to drive to an unfamiliar area in inclement weather and canceled the reservation on Friday night. We were fortunate that Social Inn is close by and is a great restaurant for celebratory dining. Best of all, they still had reservation available. As it turned out, it was just light rain the entire evening on Father's Day, but we didn't regret the change at all. Although the restaurant was not filled to capacity, it was bustling with many families celebrating Father's Day, creating a festive vibe. It's the first time that we met the owner, Daniella, who's so warm and welcoming. She invited us to choose from available tables in three different dining areas. We selected the table right by the lounge that had a large TV, homey décor, couch and cocktail table. It was also right by the big window overlooking the small and charming front patio. Our server, Chis, was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. I ordered a Lemonade ($3), my husband and daughter each enjoyed a glass of Mer Soliel Reserve Chardonnay (2 for $26). We shared a Grilled Octopus ($22) which was cooked to perfection. The warm, lightly charred pita points paired well with the creamy and tasty beet hummus. I had a Slow Roasted Lamb Shank ($39) which was tender and full of flavors. It was a very generous portion that I shared a big piece with my husband; and still had leftovers to take home. It made a delicious lamb sandwich for my next lunch. My husband liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) so much last time that he ordered it again. Our daughter enjoyed her order of Rigatoni Sausage ($23), another generously portioned dish that she couldn't quite finish. By the end of the meal, we were too full for individual desserts, so we shared a Crème Brûlée ($8), which was the perfect sweet ending. All in all, it was a wonderful dinner. With consistent delicious dishes, warm hospitality, comfortable seating, and a convenient location, we will definitely be back again.

There's lots of exciting food options on the route, and I did question myself on if this was worth the effort... it was. Small place, but that just fine. No other nonsense, no air freshener, no cleaning supply smell, no candles, just the smell of exactly what your here for. The cones of meat are spinning right in front of you behind the counter. What a beautiful sight. I ordered the lunch special #1. It comes with chicken shawarma, chicken kabob, kefta kabob, rice, salad, pita, and a falafel. Less than 12 bucks! Available from 12 to 3 pm, this is a great value. I'll get the negative out of the way here, I didn't care for the chicken kabob. It just felt over done, but good flavor. Also, the pita was a very generic and dry pita. Likely store bought. Not a huge deal but if pita is in your name I expect a decent one. The shawarma was spot on perfect. I've had my fair share of shawarma at this point and I'd put this up near the top, especially on the local scene. The kefta was my favorite part of the plate, the spices really show up and stand out. Perfect cook as well. The rice was nice with some citrus flavor that balanced the plate out. The salad was very basic but tasted fresh. A special mention for their spicy red sauce. THIS. This is the red sauce I always want but no one does it this well. Just the perfect heat level, at the very tip of my tolerance, with plenty of flavor to back up the spice. This is the best red sauce I think I've had period. I usually love the white sauce but catch me here sweating with a smile on my face and red sauce on everything.

There is not a bad choice on the menu here. I always get the Lula plate. When it's described on the menu that it is cooked to perfection, I can honestly say that's not exaggeration. The mushroom, rice, pilaf and cabbage salad is always such a great combo with any of your proteins. We always give baba ganoush with the dish because we end up ordering a large hummus on the side just for leftovers at home because they're homemade. Hummus is so good and better than any other store we've ever purchased from. The combo plate is such a great choice if you're splitting amongst two people and want to get some baklava and hummus on the side or a different type of appetizer. Or if you just want variety the, plate is amazing. I could not recommend this place enough! If you haven't tried Siunik please stop in! Or order it to go. It's great to take home but there's nothing like having it fresh in the restaurant. It really elevates it.

The smells coming out of the restaurant were leading us inside. The order area was quite crowded as there was a constant line of customers coming and going with the flow of orders. There was a slight mix up with our orders as the front register person gave us the wrong order number which caused the cooks some confusion. Regardless we both ordered the Business Special / chicken breast platter w/ Rice and side salad. Wow!! She was blown away for her 1st experience with this cuisine and is instantly hooked. So thank you guys for the great job of executing a great plate. BTW the cooks were all Mexican but not surprised since this is in the Chicago city limits.

I did come after the normal lunch hour rush, but it was still a little busy. I ordered a falafel sandwich which I was really looking forward to eating a pita, with lettuce and tahini sauce. When my number was called, I walked up to the counter and asked where my food was and apparently someone took my item. They said they will make it again and since I was in a hurry, I grabbed the item and didn't double check what was inside :( When I finally got to my destination, I was given just falafels :( They were decent, but when I was expecting something else, that's why I give this place a 3 stars.

I've since visited the Niles location several times. The food has always been consistently excellent, but unfortunately the service has never matched the quality of the kitchen. Today's visit was by far the worst. It took over 10 minutes for our server to come to the table to take our order. Throughout the meal, I had to repeatedly flag her down whenever we needed something. To make matters worse, she seemed to disappear halfway through dinner--I'm assuming she clocked out--because we had to get another server's attention just to receive basic assistance. The food, however, was fantastic. I ordered the Al Bawadi Seafood Mixed Grill, and it absolutely delivered. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. That's what makes this so frustrating. This restaurant serves some of the best Middle Eastern food in the area, but when you're paying premium prices, you expect service that matches the quality of the food. I still recommend the food without hesitation, but the consistently poor service at the Niles location is making it harder to justify returning.

Our server was so kind and never let us make the mistake of ordering the wrong thing. She gave us her recommendations every step of the way and every single one was perfect. What we got: Mint lemonade: 5/5. SO refreshing and delicious. Perfect sweetness and the little bit of pulp you get is great. I only wish there was more of it! Chicken arayes: 4.5/5. Crispy, cheesy, garlicky. Need I say more? Get some extra garlic on the side if you wanna take it up a notch. Fried halloumi: 4/5. These are like a soft mozzarella stick, so tasty. Definitely eat the pickles with them. Lamb chops: 4.5/5. 4 tender lamb chops seasoned beautifully. Definitely recommend the red rice over the yellow if you can handle a little bit of heat. Kanafeh: 5/5. Whoever thought that cheese, sweet syrup, phyllo, and pistachios would go together is a genius. Definitely don't leave without getting this dessert. The salt of the cheese perfectly balances out the sweetness. No notes! And get some peppermint tea to go with it too. And the portion sizes are huge! Definitely get your money's worth here. My only issue is this place is right by my job so now I'm gonna go broke getting food here all the time. But that's a problem I'd love to have!

I thought from our front that it was some type of community center but once inside it was nothing but WOW factors. ::The Ambiance:: The inside of this restaurant is like nothing I've seen before. The steep A-Frame design showcased a beautiful and airy scenery and the stained glass gave a celestial vibe. The patio is overlooking the lake and was very scenic. ::The Service:: From host to waitress, everyone was friendly and attentive. Everyone was on the ball and very personable and warm. ::The Food:: The food and drinks were top-notch. Had the Smokey mezcal drink and strawberry vodka drink and both were superb. The Lebanese chicken wings and the flatbread were extremely flavorful and savory. The highlight was the caviar toast. DAMN!!! Pricey (it's caviar, duh!) but worth every penny. We come out to Chicago/Rosemont area at least once a year, and I will be looking forward to frequenting this establishment again in the future!

A renovated church on Lake Opeka where the cocktails preach better than the entrées…read more The setting does the heavy lifting, and it earns it. Big lot, quiet stretch of shoreline on the northwest side of town, and then the building itself sitting right on the water. Genuinely gorgeous on approach. Inside is a soaring converted church, and the first ten seconds are impressive. The tradeoff is exactly what those bones promise: it echoes, and it gets loud. Plenty of space beyond the main dining room too, with offshoot rooms they use for private parties and events. **Service** Our server ran the table like it was a chain casual spot, which isn't what this room calls for. Pushy pace, back every two minutes clearing plates we were still eating from, no sense of letting the meal breathe. It doesn't need to be steakhouse formal. It just needs to slow down and match the setting. Credit where due, they brought out a sparkler for the birthday, which always lands. **Food & Drink** - **Chicken Shawarma Rolls** -- excellent. Phyllo, cabbage, red peppers, mozzarella, spicy garlic aioli. Best thing we ate. - **Appetizers overall** -- consistently good, clearly the kitchen's strength. - **Raw bar** -- oysters, crudos, poke bowls, towers. Looks like the real move here. Going that direction next time. - **Halo Del Santo** -- spot on. Reposado, guava, coconut liqueur, lemon, tajín rim. Cocktails across the board were perfectly made. - **Steak** -- fine. Average. The mains were the weakest part of the menu, which stings at this price point. - **Banana sticky toffee pudding** -- I've had amazing versions. This wasn't it. **Verdict** Round it to **4 stars**, honestly a 3.5. Worth seeing the space once on its own. Treat it as an elevated happy hour, drinks plus apps plus raw bar, and it's a genuinely good time. Order deep into the mains and the value drops off. Slow the service down and it jumps half a star without changing anything in the kitchen.
