A fun little 'neighborhood' bar. There is an old school feel to the bar, complete with artifacts from former breweries, beers and softball league trophies. Try the Reuben or Patty melt and enjoy a DAB on tap.

Definitely a neighborhood watering hole since 1933. Cash only with wondering if walls could talk what would they reveal. Friendly staff and pretty decent food! One star off for using styrofoam for plating.

I live close to this place and have driven by it for months telling myself "self, you need to try it out". Mission accomplished! I tried the thing everyone suggests, cheeseburger with tots. I ordered it medium, it came well done. That appears to be common among taverns. The cheeseburger is a basic cheeseburger. The tots, were basic tots. Seasoning isn't really the selling point on these, it is the cash price. Cash... they only accept cash. They have an ATM though. My meal sans drink cost 10.45 without tax. I mean, that is very good for a sit down place. The atmosphere of this place is exactly what you'd expect from a roadhouse tavern. Lots of wood, checkered table cloths, and the noise of a manual cash register in the background. The TVs over the huge bar are not too big, and this is a throwback in nostalgia to the 1960s. Hamms beers signs, Blatz sign at the front door, and DAB and Old Style on tap. The patrons are definitely locals and there are plenty (about 1/2 capacity on a Saturday at 2) This is an experience. If you are in the neighborhood, it is worth stopping and having a beer and a burger. I may need to come back on Friday for the fish fry.

Truly a sundown town type of bar. Terrible service. Mediocre food. Hard pass on my end.

My husband said it was the best fish fry ever. Full stop. Not a ton more to say other than we loved it and the ambience!

Nice old school bar with great prices, perfect for after a round of golf. Stopped in on a whim and it was worth it.

The patio is just okay, in my opinion. It's small and nothing is very special about it, but on a nice, sunny day, it's perfect for lunch. I've never been a huge fan of the indoor dining area either, and I usually opt to sit at the bar if I can. The staff is very kind. They have an excellent burger. It's always cooked right and I love the bun. I add avocado to mine. The fries are great too, and always the perfect amount of crispy. I consistently used to order their Turkey Club, but at some point in the past few years, they switched from fresh cut turkey to deli turkey. It's not nearly as good anymore for that reason, and not worth ordering. The only Glenview restaurants I know of that still use fresh turkey in their sandwiches are Hackney's and Meier's Tavern. Also, their Guinness pours can be questionable depending on who's pouring. Nowadays, when I go to Grandpa's, I only ever order the Chicken Kabobs. They are absolutely delicious! If you like medium spice, I advise you to ask for them cajun-style. They are best this way! The kabobs come served over rice with the most juicy oven roasted tomatoes, and this addicting peanut sauce on the side. I pour it over the whole thing. It is a must-try and no doubt the best thing on their menu. Highly recommend Grandpa's food, as most things on the menu are enjoyable. They also have Merkt's Cheese!

The space has a relaxed yet stylish vibe that works perfectly for brunch, lunch, or a night out with friends. The food is consistently outstanding. Every dish is flavorful and thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients. And I have to call this out specifically: their Fred's Garage habanero sauce with a hint of pineapple is easily one of the best sauces I've ever tried. Just the right balance of heat, sweetness, and flavor it's unforgettable. The service is what really sets this place apart. Jessica is hands down one of the best servers you'll ever come across kind, attentive, and always on point. Gabby is also amazing, bringing great energy and genuine care to every table/bar area. The owner, Cary, clearly pours his heart into the restaurant, and that pride shows in everything from the food to the atmosphere to the staff. In the summer, the patio is the place to be. The live bands and outdoor setting create a fun, welcoming vibe that makes you want to take your time, relax, and enjoy the moment. There isn't a parking lot, but there seems to be a lot of street parking around and I found a spot mere steps from the restaurant. The place has a old world charm with lots of dark wood and warm feelings. When you enter, there's a room to the left hosting a nice sized bar area which made me immediately think of the bar area from Cheers. The place was full and they seemed like regulars from the neighborhood. I saw someone come in and thought I heard the place yell out, "NORM!", but that was in my head but made me smile nonetheless. In front was a host stand and a welcoming host and hostess who both welcomed us to Jackman & Co and took our name for our reservation and then immediately walked us to our table. It was a booth and I was a bit worried as I am a bigger individual and find booths kind of cramped, but didn't feel this way here. They had ample space for someone of my girth. It's a nice place with a warmth in decor of dark wood and white tablecloths. We started with the Potato Chips and Dip. It sounds very informal, but the chips are housemade (kind of like the homemade chips from Claim Company) and a tasty dip with sturgeon caviar. That turned an eyebrow or two from us, but we ordered it anyway and it was very good. A nice way to start the meal. As I look at their current menu offerings, I'm bummed as the item I ordered, a short rib pot roast on noodles isn't listed, but I assure you, it was there and it was perhaps one of the best dishes I've had anywhere of late. It was so flavorful and filling. It was a nice update of a traditional pot roast dish and I wish they had it on the menu so you could go and order it as it was so delightful. They also had a special drink which is also not on the menu, but it was equally good. We will definitely return and check out their outdoor seating when it is warmer out. Such a great gem in the suburbs!

For appetizers, we got the sesame rolls, and they were super soft and fresh. I also tried bacon wrapped dates for the first time (so I have nothing to compare these to), and they were alright but I thought the cheese was sort of overpowering. For food, I got the brick chicken and it came with a side of crispy cottage potatoes. The chicken with the garlic thyme jus went well together, and the potatoes were so crispy and delicious. The sticky date cake almost tasted like pumpkin bread because of the spices I was tasting. Overall the food was good, but I wasn't blown away by anything I ordered. Although our server was really friendly and helpful, I felt that the service was lacking and it took awhile to be checked on to order our drinks and food, but maybe they think it's best to just leave customers alone and allow them to take their time. He also gave us our check without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else. He apologized and made sure to ask if there was anything else we needed before we left which I appreciated.
