I've been frequenting a Dengeo's since they first opened up in the early 70s in Skokie. They have evolved greatly over the years and have never disappointed. I'm a fan of the Philly Beef, my wife likes all the salads and my daughter is crazy about the Chicken Caesar Pita. The service is good, orders are served up quickly and the dining area is kept clean. We stopped in for a quick lunch at Denegos due to a recommendation! The space was clean and spacious, with plenty of seating - including lots of room for our group of 7. Service was a bit slow and there were a couple staff members racing around while at least three were on their phones. Food was pretty good! A number of us at the table got gyros which were huge but the tomatoes and onions on the sandwiches were sparse. Other folks got the chicken kabob, meatball sandwich, patty melt, onion rings, and baklava. Everything came out hot and we enjoyed it for a lunch spot. read more

Dengeos is one of our favorite lunch spots. My team goes almost every week, and it never disappoints. The food is always fresh, quick, and high quality. I've tried the Caesar salad, Caesar pita, chicken kabob, and burger - all excellent. Everything tastes homemade and well seasoned, and the portions are generous without being over the top. Perfect for a reliable, satisfying lunch. I have eaten in restaurant, which is always clean. Plenty of seating and we've gone with a group of 9 and there was room for us. I've been going to the Skokie location for decades. I was very happy when they opened a restaurant in Wheeling which is closer to me and now that the Glenview/Northbrook has opened, it's my newest go to. In all the years I have been coming to Dengeos I have never ever had a bad meal or experience. Food is always freshly prepared and served on an actual real plate with silverware, no plastic crap here and it's sooo good! Baked Greek chicken and the pork kabobs are my favs. The gyros are in a class by themselves. Salads are some of the best anywhere. Love this place. The food is fast and hot and delicious. I had the gyro sandwich and some baklava. The sandwich was so big fresh and meaty. I had the baklava later in the evening and it was lovely. I eat in all the time and always have a great experience. This week I placed a pick up order and got the 1lb gyros dinner. They even have a pick up window you don't have to park! It's a great deal with lots of meat and all of the fixings (onions, tomatoes, tzatziki, and you get to pick 2 sides like potatoes and fries). This was a great find. The food was hot and fresh. It had a great menu selection. The service though when you walk in , they look like they aren't too happy when it gets busy . That's only because it can get busy for about an hour all that you heard was orders being called out back to back. The ambiance was modern and very spacious. I finally decided to give this place a try as I've been craving a gyro for a while now. Well, I'm eating it right now and I must say this is the driest gyro I've ever had. Their menu is pretty extensive, offering salads, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, Italian specialties, dinner combos, sides, and desserts. We came here for a later lunch and ordered: +a Double Cheeseburger - 2 charbroiled 1/3 lbs patties, topped with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, onions, and a pickle +Gyros - filled generously with onions, tomatoes, and tzaziki sauce +and, a Dengeos Salad - romaine lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, onions, olives, and crumbled feta; this is served with a pita bread and the house greek dressing; you could request ranch, French, thousand, fat-free French, honey mustard, and Caesar I was actually pleasantly surprised with the food - honestly, I am a huge loyal fan of their competitor, but this experience made me second-guess - HA! While the burger was just okay (kind of dried out and not flavorful), the gyros was generously filled with juicy gyro meat. The salad was the star, as it arrived in a huge platter - not only that, but all the ingredients were just so fresh and delicious! You order and pay at the front, and then you just wait to hear your number called out, located on your receipt. This isn't a fast food Greek place, it's a dine-in or take out restaurant with a wide variety of good food- including healthy options. Come for gyros but come back for things like the chicken kabob and village salad (Greek salad no lettuce). Nice menu with a wide variety of Greek and American food that is fresh, made well and delicious. They are generous with their portions at a good price, which equals great value for the money. We had the Greek village salad , chicken kabob sandwich and fries. All splittable between two people. The Greek village salad was outstanding- fresh and generous with the feta and olives. The Greek dressing is one of the best I've ever had, loved the red wine vinegar they use. They use real feta - incredible flavor. This is a classic Greek salad- all veges/feta/olives without the lettuce and you don't need it. Do not fear the anchovies! Delicious salty devils, pair it with the feta and tomato, it's so good! The chicken was grilled with nice char but they kept it juicy and didn't dry it out. This is also some of the best pita bread I've had- it's soft and fluffy vs flat and dry like you find in most other places. Excellent tzatziki sauce. Fries were decent, love crinkle style- just wasn't quite as fresh as our other items. Good but not great. You order your food, get a number and they bring out your dishes. Nice, helpful and friendly staff. Basic decor, plenty of seating and very clean. They kept clearing tables and I didn't see one table needing to be cleaned. I liked our meal and really liked the menu- plenty to choose from. There are 3 locations I believe. They cater too and while there I saw several large orders go out the door. I've been to the Buffalo Grove Dengeo's and love it. I met a friend at the Glenview location since she had an appointment nearby in The Glen. This is a Greek classic Chicago fare (char hamburgers, Italian beef, great salads, with some Greek dishes thrown in). The food is great, the restaurant is very comfortable and clean. My friend comes from Tinley Park to a dentist in The Glen and stops at this Dengeo's every time. She loves it, too. read more

This location is easy to get to and offers ample parking. Extensive menu to please everyone. Mostly Greek but they offer lots of options. Employees are great. We went for lunch and it was very busy. You order your food and you are given a number on your receipt. When your food is ready, the number is called. Food seems to be prepared at the time of order. Lots of seating and very clean. I just have to say I have never had bad food from here ever. Last night I saw that they had tilapia on their menu now I am brand new to fish and I'm trying different ones but I usually only get those from Bob chins I really thought OK I have to try it. OMG I was beyond pleasantly surprised whoever cooked that fish last night and whatever recipe they used it is a rockstar. It was so good and I reheated the leftovers tonight and it reheated amazingly they had just enough of the sauce in the container that allowed me to reheat it I added a little butter. I am absolutely 100% blown away. I was skeptical, but I'm so glad that I chose to order it. I love that I can order good fish right down the street from my house and not having to drive all the way to Bob chins. To the chef that cooked this at Dengeos chefs kiss I cannot say enough good things about this. The flavor was perfect not one single bone and I loved it from the first bite to the last bite the next night and thank you for putting enough of the sauce in there that I'm able to reheat it beautifully I definitely will be ordering this again thank you thank you thank you. And to Dengeos management whoever that chef was absolutely needs a piece of Portillo's chocolate cake and a balloon because that was phenomenal. read more

Dengeo's is one of our go to favorites in the area when we want a family friendly restaurant with quick service and menu options for everyone. It hovered at 4 stars for me for a while as a steady establishment, but after a handful of visits, it's always been reliable, consistent, fresh, and has an attentive and productive staffs especially the bussing staff. Lately, our meal choices have been very predictable. Mini me 1 gets a plain cheeseburger, mini 2 gets grilled cheese, and Dad and I hover between a gyros plate (for him) and cheeseburger (for me) or Philly steak sandwiches for both of us. I may or may not have burned the roof of my mouth on said Philly steak recently, as I was hungry, and it looked and smelled so good! Variety of sandwiches, Greek gyros and chicken entrees, salads, and pasta available too. Prices are reasonable, they have a drive thru, and take home colorful balloons for the kiddos! Among the best restaurants. Almost everything y they do it the best way possible. A big shout out to the cooks for the well done gyros and well done fries on request. The staff is great and knowledgeable. Two small things they could do better, the Greek salad dressing needs more oil and less vinegar and it seems that happens when you mix a batch of salad dressing it separates and it's hard to get the correct amount of oil and vinegar in the small plastic containers, the work around for that is to put a little of "gum" in the dressing so the oil and vinegar does not separate and you solve two issues one is getting the right mix in the small containers and second is to give the customer a dressing that stays mixed so every bite has the right amount of oil and vinegar because now some bites are oily and some are vinegary. Second thing that could be improved is the garlic bread, it's now a very chewy and tough piece of bread very hard to eat, my view is there are two other choices, you could buy commercial frozen garlic bread likes Texas toast put a slice or two in a regular bread toaster and you would give a tasty piece of garlic bread with your dinners the other choice would be to get a commercial bread toaster like the ones in hotel breakfast buffets or the ones Dunkin donuts uses for toasting bagels the ones with conveyor belts. You would have to experiment with the type of bread you would use but you should be able to get a tasty piece of garlic bread. Don't forget your staff is your best resource, make different versions and have your staff help you decide which they like more and do that one. Good luck. read more

This is our first visit to this newish 2-year old Dengeos location.  We've eaten at the flagship Skokie location numerous times over the decades.  We came and celebrated the kiddos' piano recital day and had a nice casual Greek diner meal.  It's all good valued stuff and all of the selections for our party of 6 were tip-top hot and fresh.  With the kiddos, it's nice to get the food relatively quickly and that certainly happens here.  You order, find a table, and listen for your receipt number to be called.  Their menu is pretty big but also typical Greek diner.  I myself had a gyros dinner for $14.99 comprising a generous plate of gyros with fresh pita bread and a baked potato. Amongst the other items ordered were chicken tenders and fries, three burgers, a couple of gyros dinners, and a hummus appetizer.  Parking was close and plentiful and the dining room was airy, spacious, and clean.  They also had a bunch of balloons available for the picking by the kid customers, a nice little touch.  Staffers were friendly. I go with 4.49 Yelp stars.  I ask myself why not 5, and all I can say is I need to see more of their current competition to know if they're a 5, so I guess I'm being stingy on the benefit of the doubt. First time stepping for foot inside this restaurant and what a pleasant surprise! Very spacious, family friendly place of you want to dine in. I ordered online for carry out and decided to go inside but they do have an online order pickup window. They had a full staff and all were very friendly. We ordered gyros, cheese fries, Italian beef, and the chili dog. The Italian beef was very juicy and was larger then we expected. The gyros dinner only came with one pita, so should've bought some extra bread. Kids devoured their meals. Think we will definitely come again! read more

Lots of menu choices at this casual eatery. Judging by the "I love gyros" neon sign on the wall, it's a pretty good bet that gyros is a solid choice. We chose a Cobb salad with gyro slices + Dengeos salad with gyro slices. The portions were very generous - we could have shared the gyro slices and the salad as well. The gyros were well seasoned and crispy around the edges and not dry. My salad was colorful, crispy and fresh. The restaurant was pretty busy with lots of groups and families. We didn't wait long for our order to come up. The restaurant is new, spacious with lots of small booths and tables. TVs were showing sports games and the TV I faced had naked people running around a forest. I told a staff person as we left and they said "That's Naked and Afraid." I guess that's a show? Now that I know this restaurant is here, I would come back for another salad or try a burger or gyro. read more

Dengoes is a solid choice in Glenview for gyros, Greek dishes like Grecian chicken, kabobs, sandwiches, sausages and pasta. They usually are consistent with their offerings and offer piece conscience food in this day and age. The service is pretty quick and the workers are pretty nice and personable. There are a good amount of families dining and the nose levels are fairly low. What's nice about this location is that even though they have a large diving area, indoor and out, they also have a drive thru for online order pickups. Thank you for a lovely Mother's Day meal for the 6 of us. The food was excellent, and I had enough leftovers for today too, which is a bonus. From ribs, to chicken, to gyros, to tuna salad, and the all time favorite kabob, we all enjoyed the food. When we went to leave I took my leftovers up to the counter for a bag, and the young tall fellow at the center register not only got a bag, but put the things in it and was polite and charming. NOT easy for staff to do on a holiday when so many customers are less than charming. I hope his Mother knows he was a delight to be around, even if he could not spend the day with her. Not sure it matters, but our daughter had made reservations for Coopers Hawk, but cancelled them when I asked we come to Dengeos instead. It was a good decision. read more

We came here for dinner since it was in the area. I had the chicken gyros and my boyfriend had the regular gyros dinner. Chicken gyros is much less greasy than its traditional version and slightly less flavorful, but it was still good. The ordering area is very chaotic, as it's a mix of people looking at the menu, people ordering, and people waiting for their order number to be called. Staff here are friendly, even though they're mostly teenagers (nice to see they hire local teens). Overall, our food was decent here. This isn't the sort of place I would expect to spend $40 on two meals and two drinks, but I guess it is. It's nice to see the amount of business they're getting on a Friday evening, but I think the prices are pretty high for what is basically a fancy hot dog stand. read more

My brother got fish and chips the first time and said it was the nastiest thing he's ever had. Went back again a second time and he got food poisoning and threw up 3 times from the chicken strips.
