Stopped at a Route 66 diner in Pontiac, IL for lunch, The Log Cabin. It was established in 1926 and they are celebrating their 100th anniversary in May 2026. The Yelp reviews were mostly five stars, and it was touted to be a locals' favorite, so we decided to give it a try. We both chose the patty melt with a cup of vegetable soup. The soup sounded like an excellent choice on this cold cloudy day. The food, the service and the ambience were all wonderful. We finished off the meal sharing a slice of hot peach pie with vanilla bean ice cream. It was all fantastic.

Zapiekanka: I had "pizza" in mind which was a mistake. It's a toasted open-faced sandwich. Well-made but I don't think I'll crave it.

Sports bar with good Polish food and the vibe of a tiki bar mixed with a pirate bar with multiple bocce alleys out back. This place is a little slice of heaven. Established (as the wall told me) in 1936, I expected "Polish" to be in menu alone...and I was wrong. The gal behind the bar had an accent. Halfway through the Bears game, I started hearing folks concerning and cheering in Polish. I felt like I had slipped into a cool little club to which I would never have otherwise been invited. Loud (but not too loud) and boisterous. I read some other reviews talking about rude regulars: rubbish. Chicago is loud and direct. If you don't like that vibe, the shoulders in this city may just be a little too broad for you. The pierogi and the pyzy were great, both served with sour cream. The beers, while not draft, had a wide, Euro-leaning selection but still respected some local favorites (Old Style). Good food. Good folks. Confusingly brilliant ambiance. You're missing out if you skip The Log Cabin.

5 stars for The Log Cabin. Wow, this place is a hidden gem! This is a unique polish bar/restaurant and lounge with a spacious, beautiful patio in the summertime. I tried it out for the first time tonight with some friends and was super impressed. The pricing is very reasonable and they have a ton of options for food and drinks. The best part of the Log Cabin is surely the patio - there are so many tables and chairs to sit at and hang out at, multiple ponds and old decor and more - really nice looking. I'd totally recommend if you want a unique experience instead of your everyday bar & restaurant experience.

Great place to hang and smoke a cigar outside and enjoy all the outdoor garden oddities

the interior was so cute. you have to order foods and drinks at the bar for them to bring it to you. the food & drinks were alright but expected something more for the prices

Unique fun gem. Finally, I got to try this place. From the outside, you can't tell what the inside holds. This place looks amazing inside, and the atmosphere makes me feel like I'm home. There are so many different little areas where you can hang out and have a great time. I tried all the polish food, which you can tell is homemade with love and pride. The stew is definitely the star and absolutely amazing. I already want to go back just for that, and it's a meal by itself. The pizza bread with ketchup is authentic and great. The prices here can't be beat. The service is semi-self service, all done by one very hard-working lady. You won't be disappointed here. For those that lucky live close. Make this your regular spot.

Came here because it was serving food late and my travel got delayed. But boy was I glad they were open! The inside of the restaurant is quite small, limited seating, but a long bar and pool table... but the outside. The outside is a fully decorated beer garden, triple the size of the indoors, with a coy pond and fountains. The decor is like you stepped out into Bavaria. The food was decent, I got Pierogis, but this is most definitely the spot to grab a beer! Great environment to meet up with friends

    Love the ambiance!

Wow I could have never imagined how amazing this place is on this inside from the outside. Recently found this gem while attending a birthday party and enjoyed everything from the moment I arrived till I left! Very nice bartenders with very reasonable prices! Authentic and delicious polish food available. Definitely recommend the pierogi's! You can and I did spend hours walking around to see everything they have on display. Bring quarters because they also have a fun gum ball machine with cheerios where you can feed the koi! More fun than I thought it would be! So much entertainment with nice/great service and delicious food? What more can you ask for!? Loved everything about it and can't wait to come back!

The outdoor seating is genuinely great. Comfortable, open, lively, and full of enough attractive people to send the P.O.A. Index into encouraging territory. This is not a place where you sit down, stare at your phone, and contemplate mortality. There's scenery. Then Alex showed up. Alex brought me an iced tea. With a lemon. A lemon. Do you understand how rare this is now? Restaurants have all decided that iced tea should arrive naked, joyless, and unaccompanied, like it just lost a custody battle. Alex, however, understood civilization. She brought the lemon. At that moment, I decided we were getting married. I don't know her political views, credit score, family history, or whether she even likes me. None of that matters. She brought the lemon without being asked. That's wifey material. The menu is a little more yuppie than I normally tolerate. Hot honey this, roasted garlic aioli that, truffle fries lurking around the corner waiting to add seven dollars to your bill. There are enough sauces and modifiers on this menu to make a simple man feel like he accidentally enrolled in culinary graduate school. But here's the irritating part: The food is actually good. The burgers are solid. The sandwiches make sense. The prices are reasonable enough that you don't feel like somebody mugged you with a brioche bun. Even the slightly over-engineered stuff mostly works. That puts Emerson's in a rare category: a place that flirts with yuppie bulls$&@ without disappearing completely up its own @55. Good food. Fair prices. Excellent patio. Strong P.O.A. Index. And Alex brought the lemon. Five stars. I'll be back as soon as I can find out where we're registered.

There was no sense of urgency from the staff and kept walking by us knowing we had waited quite long for our food. This time I ordered to go and the order was supposed to be ready in 15 minutes. I waited over 30 for my order and it came out wrong so they had to renamed a plain burger. I want to support some business s but I feel like there's this lack of care from the staff and as if customers are annoying the servers. Many teams come here after games but we will be seeking food elsewhere.

Now, the first time I stopped in here was in the 1990's, to watch a game and eat some burgers... and I didn't go back again until the mid-2000's, just once, for karaoke. I had little kids and didn't get out much, met up with some friends and made it a quick stop for the evening, since I had to work in the morning. Here we are, 2026, and I've been in a few times in the last few months. I've got to imagine you're wondering why I'm only giving it three stars, it's the ambiance, to be honest... there's something that isn't for everyone here. I like the place, a little dive bar and a bunch of regulars, but it's not super inviting and I guess that's the issue. The crowd is also a bit on the older side and it's generally pretty dead on the weekends. The food, though... the only thing I have had and wasn't all-in on was the Caesar Wrap, because it was an oil based dressing rather than creamy and it was very messy - everything else I've had (wings, burger, fries) have been quite tasty!
