Supreme pizza!
Julie Ann I.

Cute place in downtown Des Plaines, friendly staff and it had a nice crowd when I came in for a friends fundraiser. They do serve food and they weren't kidding regarding their pizza, it's delicious, fresh ingredients, and tasty. The drinks was good, they have darts, and a shuffle board.

Always a cozy spot in the winter and nice and breezy in the summer. Best bar in town.

Bartender seemed inebriated, caters to regulars. Doesn't have local sports teams on TV for game nights. Don't waste your time and money.

Great bar. Just surprised that the left channel of the sound system has been blown out for 2 years now. And one of the owners is a DJ.

When I was a kid I use to go to the Des Plaines Theater & watch movies for 60 cents (ahhh nostalgia trip down memory lane), but I digress The speakeasy inside the Des Plaines Theater is an awesome idea. The show was awesome but the one MAJOR MAJOR issue I have is the bartender who continued to serve my sister's friend. He was obviously very very drunk to a point where he could barely walk wo/stumbling. He was slurring his words. Both my sister & I asked the bartender not to serve him anymore alcohol but she kept serving him drinks even after we asked. She continued to serve him even after we asked her not to. When he and my sister left she told me he tried to put the key in the ignition 14X's before she convinced him to let her drive. Your bartender's need to be aware of a persons level of intoxication. Both my sister & I asked her not to serve him anymore drinks but she continued to serve him. Thank God my sister was able to convince him to let her drive home otherwise what was an excellent evening could have ended tragically. Please have your bartenders be more conscious of a persons level of intoxication. While I gave Bourbon & Brass a 5 star review I need to down grade that for over serving someone alcohol even after both my sister & I asked her to stop serving him

There was a show that evening, when we entered the theater, the usher asked to see our tickets. I asked how to get to the speakeasy and the usher pointed to the elevator, take it to the second floor. Once we got to the second floor, more ushers greeted us and informed us there's a jazz band performing and small cover charge. As soon as we paid and entered through the bookshelf, the room was beautifully arranged as a lounge with fancy and vintage sofas and couches. Kind of reminds me of someone grandma's house. The bar had snacks available, otherwise more drink options. The band played good songs too. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and jazz fan.

Once we got started cooking at the table for ourselves we had a great time making sure everyone got to try different meets and sauces. I am a big fan of warm food. Other places will bring you warm food that starts getting cold instantly. At Kow we had a constant supply of meat pork shrimp and chicken coming right off our grill to our plates. Pair that with your choice of many different types of ramen packets helped keep the joy of hot steaming flavorful food.Beware that different ramen packets are labeled to show their heat intensity. Be aware that robot waiters bring the food to your table (Jetson styles) make sure you grab everything before your waiter rolls away. All my buddies were satisfied with the food and beverage , alcoholic and soft drinks. We all enjoyed the experience. Definitely will return soon with my wife.

They have a little loft which would be great for get togethers and gatherings, wish there was a place like that here too. The cold noodles and galbi were really good haven't had such good noodles in a while which is very odd with all the options we have here in SoCal. Anways, these noodles really hit the spot. Even better if you have it with soju. :) It definitely will be my place to go back to when in the area and would recommend. Oh and almost forgot to mention the ramen bar that was absolutely legit, you people there are definitely spoiled we pay like $20 dollars for just the ramen and some toppings here, but to have it included in the ayce bbq that itself is a major plus.

Beacon Tap is a great sports bar with a chill vibe and I really liked it. I've needed an excuse to…read morecome here after having it on my list for years and the stars aligned for Game 4 of the ongoing White Sox - Cleveland Guardians ALDS. As I refuse to pay extra for sports channel subscriptions over my basic Comcast cable TV package, I didn't have TBS for this particular game or series, and decided to come here hopeful of watching a festive home field series clinching celebration on this night. It was a festive and fun and tense night, and I had a blast until things fell apart in the 6th inning. Beacon Tap has a great reputation as a good and long standing local sports bar and it lived up to it. In fact, I learned that on Bears football Sundays, you need to reserve a spot here as it's so packed, you can't just walk in and watch a game. I sat at the bar and ended up having a couple of delectable Maplewood Son of Juice IPA drafts (at a reasonable $7.25 apiece) and had a blast with fellow fans, two of whom were regulars here. Tim was the fine and attentive bartender and he kept the beers flowing and it was a packed bar and dining room as expected. I left after the 6th inning when the game was decided and the Sox eventually lost 9-5. It would have been so cool to celebrate a major sports win in a sports bar along with the comaraderie, something I've never experienced, but alas, it will probably have to be in another life, ugh. Come to think of it, I have been at a winning major championship game, the Bears' 1985 NFC championship game when they beat the Rams 24-0 at Soldier Field, but being at a rowdy sports bar is indeed another thing. They have a quite nice beer list, and the usual pub food offerings. I learned that their popular 1/2 price pizza night is Tuesdays. They have a big parking lot to handle their big weekend crowds. I'm a big fan of this place, and will look to return again some day for a good time.
