Our Burger Club finally made it's way to Jimmy D's back in December of 2025. It was a Monday night, and kinda cold outside. There were seven of us and we all converged from Buffalo Grove and Vernon Hills. Jimmy D's doesn't come up on your normal burger place lists in and around the area, but we saw a post somewhere and knew we had to check this place out, especially if it ended up being across from the future home of the Chicago Bears. We'd probably end up hanging out there and wanted to make sure it was a good enough place to hang and be a part of the action, whilst not paying for said action. Anyhoo, we all pulled up to find a nice parking lot next to/behind the restaurant. It's a cool place with a couple entrances (one in the lot and the other from the street). It's a nicely adorned building and has the requisite sports decor on the inside with plenty of televisions to watch many games at once. There was plenty of seating for our group as it was quite empty on a Monday night and there wasn't any game of note when we were there. We called ahead letting them know our numbers and they accommodated us with a reserved table. They were attentive and constantly refilled out waters and sodas and brought more beer when needed/requested. The service was friendly and attentive. We were there for the burgers of which there are four options: the House burger, the Fried Egg Burger, the Mac Daddy, and a Black Bean burger. However, stipulations for being in our club is that you can only order a red meat-based burger. We did order the buffalo sauced wings as an appetizer to share. They were sauced nicely, not too hot, and quite good. I would definitely recommend getting them if you visit. I also ordered the cream of chicken soup. It was a perfect option for the cold night and I rank it among one of the better cream of chicken soup options in the suburbs. While not a sommelier of cream of chicken soup, I do rank it quite well: I think it matches Jameson's Char House for quality, thickness, and flavor. Mama clearly knows what she's doing with her soup. I opted for the Mac Daddy burger. It's prepared with: black angus beef, boom boom sauce, house mac n' cheese, bacon, fried onions, sliced jalapeños, toasted brioche. I normally don't opt for the special/signature house sauces as I've been burned before by these so-called "recommended" house sauces (I'm looking at you, Lucky Burger, with your terrible "dijonnaise" sauce - ugh, don't get me started on THAT sauce). However, I was told it's a hot sauce for the burger and figured it wouldn't overpower everything else on the burger. The mac n' cheese was a tad creamy, but so what, the bacon, fried onions, jalapenos, and boom boom sauce cut into the creaminess a bit and it worked. And it didn't overpower the flavor of the burger, which I thought it would, but somehow didn't. I really liked this burger, the bun held up, the bacon stayed crispy, and jalapenos and sauce added a nice kick but not overwhelmingly so. I would get this again. The sandwiches come with housemade fries or tots, but I know that if tots are offered, you can (generally) never go wrong with tots (I'd point out Puck's Pub but they closed and did the world a favor in doing so). Everyone generally liked their burgers and would return again. In our 5 point scale, Jimmy D's District got a 4.25. They have a nice brunch menu and drinks to match and I want to try them out someday. Let me know if you're going and I'll meet ya there if available. read more

Talk about a hidden gem! Jimmy D's sits in Arlington Heights - a Northwestern burb of Chicago. Having a heavy Greek influence, Jimmy Ds was started by Demetrios "Jimmy D" Demarakis, after he migrated to America from a small village in Greece back in 1968. In 1986, Jimmy D's was born. Food & drinks I tried: Buffalo mac & cheese Cream of chicken with rice soup The Mac Daddy Burger with Greek Fries Apple Walnut bread pudding Espresso martini Mapleberry breeze The Mac Daddy Burger deserves respect lol It comes with their boom boom sauce, mac & cheese, fried onions, bacon and sliced jalapeños on a brioche bun! The buffalo mac & cheese truly surprised me. It's covered with an ale cheese sauce that is full of flavor and on top, there are buffalo chicken crisps! So good! The Greek Fries were my other favorite! It has a roasted garlic aioli, crumbled feta and oregano. I could eat an entire plate of it with no problem! On Fridays and Saturdays in the evening, there is live music but outside of the live music, the environment is lively, the service from everyone was pleasant and attentive, and there are TVs everywhere, like literally! I can totally see why this place is a neighborhood favorite and if you visit, you'll understand why too! Stop by and tell em that Bri from Planes and Plates sent you! read more

At the bar, during the 4-6pm hours, they reserve 25% of their bar seats for regulars. They didn't have anyone show up until 5:15, a cute lady who I believe ordered a water. Nobody else showed up between 4-5:30. I asked what the policy was, the bartender didn't want to engage in this conversation. It's rather insulting that others can't sit in the reserved seats and then they don't show up. Horrible policy! Needs to change. read more

Best burger ever... I have been to hundreds of restaurants for their burgers and they have never topped Jimmy D"s burger with that fabulous boom boom sauce. The tater tots are so crispy and not greasy. Definitely a staple in my family. The staff and owner are always so friendly and the service is always on point. I love the music and vibe as well. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. My boyfriend and I went here to eat for dinner tonight. The food was amazing. It was very hot, fresh, and full of flavor. We ordered a small size of the pub fries, chicken and rice soup, the club ciabatta, and the fiesta wrap. We also had some drinks while there. The bartenders are amazing. The ambiance is great. I would definitely recommend this place. Please come here for food and a drink. You will not be disappointed at all. We will definitely be back here for sure many times. read more

My overall rating for just the food is just a four. For the atmosphere, it's more for drinking. I feel since most people on here say it's loud. I think it's best to go during opening hours rather than their busiest hours if you're searching for a quieter area to eat. I really like the view that they have on the corner of the street. You can see all the cars drive-by with the big windows they have. This area has more of a vibe to drink and socialize more than anything, while also watching sport games. What you see in the pictures I posted is the Buffalo chicken wrap with the mozzarella cheese sticks. Five stars on tater tots. Really enjoyed the food! Visited here for MNF, was not packed at all for football, had tunes playing on the speakers, enough tv's to watch from anywhere you sit. Dipped the nacho combo in the soup, game changer!!! I have been going to Jimmy D's for drinks once and awhile and the staff are great. Sometimes it gets a bit busy and getting a check is slow but the drinks are fast and delicious! Great Menu for food and always great! read more

Sorry - not thrilled with this. When we first arrived it was virtually empty. It was quiet and we were able to enjoy conversing. Then the game started I understand that people go to bars to watch games, drink, and socialize. It wasn't what we wanted nor expected when we chose Jimmy D's. The food was okay. I will give them kudos for their tater tots, though. read more

Good hamburgers, nice surroundings. Haven't tried anything other than the hamburger. they're more of a bar than they are a restaurant. But the servers are pleasant. read more

So, the server DID warn us that the kitchen was backed up, and she apologized again at the end and thanked us for our patience. But this was all very strange, as there were only a couple other tables of guests in the whole restaurant. And it took about an hour for 8 meals to come out. Awesome menu that delivers. I ordered the sweet chili wings that were an order of 8. Good sized wings that had a balanced sauce. Burgers were huge and cooked perfectly, as I often get a medium burger when ordering medium rare. Service was friendly but at times couldn't access my server easily as they would disappear for long periods of time. Also hate when drinks are empty. Finally, interior is a nice local sports bar. Neighborhood sports bar. Very homely feel. OK to bring family (I visited during the day, not sure how it is at night). Used to be close to the race track in Arlington Heights. Still there but the Park is gone ‍. Anyway, food exceeded expectations. For a sports bar of course, this is not a fine dining place. read more

driven past a thousand times, received a facebook invitation for $10 off a $20 lunch so i dropped in today. never been there before, showed the BT the facebook offer, she wasn't sure how it worked, which is fair. I assumed it would be $10 off a $20 purchase, so i ordered a nice sandwich and soup which was $21 before tax. soup was great, sandwich was delicious and fresh. Asked for the bill, $23.86? it turns out, you get a $10 card after you spend $20+ which is cool, just would have been nice to know. as a side note, if you sit at the bar, be aware regulars have designated unmarked seats they demand when they arrive. Again, just a little quirk but made me laugh. dont want to upset the natives! read more

The food and service are amazing. It's a great neighborhood restaurant and bar, that is great for families.

Good: Food is quality. Lots of great options especially Grecian sausage and the wings. Bad: frustrating on a couple of levels. First off the kitchen supposedly closes at 10. It's happened multiple times where we are told kitchen is closed please call ahead. Arrived around 950, tried calling when we were on our way but got busy signal 3 times. The phones were not exactly ringing off the hook when we got there so I'm not sure what happened there. Tried ordering online and it wasn't turned on supposedly. Then we sat down at 950 at the bar and when we asked if kitchen was open one bartender said yes and the other gave her a look and started shaking her head. That tells me they didn't want to make anything. Been here many times and spent lots of money. Always leave great tips. Frustrating that this was the service we received. read more

Another small update- Jimmy D's now has new larger HD TV's for your pleasure in watching the big game. The night that we were there recently they had one of the TV's on the NFL Red Zone channel which was insane watching as many as 6 game highlight reel worthy plays at the same time. Great local bar with one of my favorite local food items. Space is small so I prefer to only visit for lunch or during a sports game vs when they have a band inside. They have set up a nice outdoor patio this year that we had the chance to catch some drinks on. If you are a fan of Greek food the Chicken Pita with fries is amazing and full of flavor! Ask them to make your fires Greek style for an extra kick! read more

Went for a burger a couple months back and did not enjoy the regular burger but decided to give it another try with a bunch of friends today. I can say I changed my mind. We tried the Mac Daddy burger, Buffalo wings, greek fries and the humus plate. All to die for!!! Chill sports bar, they have quite a few TVs. Service is good too. Jimmy D's is the definition of great service, high quality bar food and top notch drinks. Usually bar food is meh for me, and this is the best menu of bar options and consistent high quality compared to any other bar. From pizzas, salads to sandwiches, to soup and the best wings and apps to bartenders whipping up your faves. This place is consistently amazing. They just started offering brunch too on Sunday's and the brunch drinks and food just add to the amazing options and all around YUM at Jimmy D's. The owner makes sure every customer is happy and taken care of. Highly recommend !! read more

Ordering for pickup should be an easy process, however not with Jimmy D's. On their website you are routed to a 3rd party for online orders that will only accept Apple Pay (for macs), and Google pay for others. That's it. No credit cards. You don't even have an option to call the restaurant directly to order. The phone number listed under contact us is a cell number stating the call cannot be answered. There are many good burger places in Arlington Heights. Since Jimmy D's makes it so difficult to place a simple order, I am taking my business elsewhere. read more

They have totally transformed this place since the remodel many years ago. Now it's a cool bar to come to for beers and watching the game. The bartenders are friendly, the food is good and it's a great location if you want a few drinks before or after going to Arlington Race Track (which is across the street.) read more

I have been coming here forever, as we live in the neighborhood. It's always clean and the food is consistently great. I love the options on the menu, as it's not overwhelming, yet plenty to decide on with picky eaters. Pizza is great. The buffalo chicken wrap is my go to item. Love love the martinis. Have been here many times pre and during covid. They are maintaining social distancing policies and staff are in masks. They also have outdoor dining available. Our go-tos are Grecian Sausage, Chips and Guac, and Roasted Corn and Bacon pizza. They always have drink specials and occasionally live bands! read more

The person who sat us I believe was owner/manager, right after we were sat he was sitting at the bar, looked like he was drinking? Once he sat back down the bartender and him started cracking up laughing for whatever reason. Not professional whatsoever. Music was blaring, which made for zero conversation. This place is such a surprise! I've driven past this place for almost 20 years without ever stopping in. Finally, my girlfriends and I decided we were going to see what it was all about. So we met here on a Friday night for dinner, drinks, and darts. The only problem I had was that the dart board was located right next to the bar access point. Waitresses were really getting annoyed with us because we were in their line of serving. But other than that, we had a great night. There is a digital jukebox, which we basically controlled all night. Some of the male patrons got a little grabby, but we can handle ourselves. This might become our new regular spot, now that Dirty Nellie's has gone to the overpriced dogs. read more

Being a friendly neighbor to this bar, Im glad this is my local bar than most out there. Im close enough were I walk home but cant throw a rock at it. Out of all the times I have visited here, sober, buzzed, blacked I never eaten here...After watching the Hawks loose badly I figured I might as well break the seal. Menu is a pretty typical bar food w/ some greek choices. I decided to go w/ the "most popular chicken pita" it was something like that, whole point its so cliche when places call out their infamous sandwich. Its common sense that your best dishes are always on the top of the list... Anyways the chicken pita was simple but cooked perfectly. It came w/ grilled chicken flavoured well and not dried out, red onion, tomato, tzatzzi sauce (spelled wrong, I know im not greek), and loaded w/ feta! Of course fries over salad. The pita was full of flavor with every freakin bite! Fries were just ok, nothing special to them. But the pita sandwich was simple but tasty!! The decor after the remodeling is great. In most cases I go here to catch a sports game which this place has a tv at every angle or to grab a drink before doing something. Every single bartender/waitress is nice and more than willing to go out of there way to make sure everything is ok. Besides that, just a great local neighborhood bar. read more
