    Wings

Went in on a Monday night after traveling from Alabama via car. Wanted to try a local place and it did not let me down. I tried wings and a Chicago dog. Neither disappointed me. The wings were bigger than I expected for the price and my first experience with a Chicago Dog left me wanting to have it again. Everyone sat at the bar as it was not too busy and the only complaint I have is the service was little slow. There was just the bartender but only a handful of ppl. Took longer than I expected to get another beer. He was polite and nice but just slow. If ever in the area again I would visit here again.

Recently opened in the former Ye Old Town Inn , Mount Prospect Public House maintained its the vintage authenticity throughout the renovations and upgrades. A large space , with pool tables, dart boards, two bars, a fireplace, and lots of TVs. There is lots of wood , paneling and the bar. Service was excellent, attentive, and friendly. They do serve food and offer a variety of bar food, appetizers, sandwiches and salads. Prices were very reasonable. It was nice to see on a Sunday late afternoon there were several patrons. Mount Prospect continues to expands its offerings

We made a reservation because I'd heard this place can get pretty busy. Although it didn't seem too crowded when we first arrived on a Saturday, it filled up quickly throughout our meal. I definitely recommend making a reservation, especially if you're planning to come for dinner. As soon as we walked in, I was struck by how beautiful the restaurant is. Since the building was once a church, they preserved the stained-glass windows and cathedral ceilings, which give the space so much character. We ended up sitting on the patio because it was a gorgeous day, but I definitely want to come back and dine inside so I can fully appreciate the interior. The patio was modern, spacious, and completely shaded, making it very comfortable. Since it's located right next to the little lake, we also enjoyed a nice breeze throughout our meal. Our waitress was friendly and attentive overall, but there was one moment that stood out. My friend's baby accidentally knocked over a full glass of iced coffee, spilling it all over my friend's lap and onto the floor. The waitress watched as my friend cleaned up the mess herself but didn't offer to help or replace the spilled drink. Aside from that, the service was good. My friends and I all ordered something different, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the salmon poke bowl ($19), which was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly refreshing. The ingredients tasted high quality, and all the flavors worked really well together. It was more filling than I was expecting! Price-wise, I expected the menu to be more expensive than it actually was. I'm sure dinner prices are higher, especially for steak and seafood, but the brunch menu was quite reasonable. Most breakfast and brunch dishes range from $12-$20, making it a great value for both the quality of the food and the beautiful atmosphere. Overall, we all enjoyed our experience and I'll for sure be back! I'd love to try other menu items and come for dinner, too!

It's not intrusive, but we were sat outside. I can imagine it might have been hard to carry conversation in the very full and busy dining room. We both started with a mocktail, the fly boy, which was very fresh and delicious. My husband had the 20 oz rib eye which was slightly over done, but still seasoned well. I had the bone-in pork chop with fingerling potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts which was delightful. Dessert consisted of the banana sticky toffee pudding and the strawberry chocolate cake and a decaf cappuccino. All were awesome. Our server (Lindsey?) was l friendly and attentive, while not being overbearing. Foxtail has definitely become a favorite restaurant of ours.

Our group shared the following: popcorn chicken, stir-fried chicken gizzards, fried eggs with Spam, corn cheese, truffle French fries, seafood pancake, bossam (pork belly, shrimp paste, lettuce wrap), rose tteokbokki, steamed egg souffle with cheese, spam and kimchi fried rice, station noodles (beef broth, veggies), and strawberry bingsoo. My favorite of the night was the rose tteokbokki. The tteokbokki was perfectly chewy and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. The popcorn chicken was also good and paired well with the sauce it came with. The bossam was on the dry side and the seafood pancake was pretty standard. The fries were good but wouldn't pay $10 for a basket of fries if we came back next time. The corn cheese was also good but the plate was small. There was a call button at each table which was convenient. Food came out individually as it was ready instead of all at once which was to be expected for our party size.

The food is consistently delicious, the service wonderful, and it always makes me feel special when Terry greets me at the restaurant! There are tables accessible at the time I eat dinner, haha, but they fill up later! The restaurant is dark and quiet and the bathroom is clean. We're a bibimbap family--chicken and pork, respectfully. Sometimes in a hot stone bowl, sometimes not. The buns, japchae, and assorted bonchon are all delicious, too. I prefer the aioli sauce over the traditional sauce on my bibimbap. I still remember how during COVID Terry had the ability to donate meals to thank the frontline workers. Also, one time, something was missing from my delivery order and Terry himself drove it to my house to apologize! Those are the offerings and moments that make a giant difference. Overall, I am always happy with the food, service, and love supporting a small, local business!

Our server lacked basic waitstaff skills and wasn't attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the Stuffed Crab and Fettuccine Alfredo. I've ordered this dish before when they were out of Onaga, so I knew what to expect. I also never order the basia fish because I've learned it's just tilapia, and that's not something I ever choose. This time, the four shrimp were deep-fried, dry, and overcooked before being stuffed with crab meat and topped with hollandaise sauce. In all the years I've been coming here, the shrimp were always broiled--never fried. The change made the dish far less enjoyable. I've been dining here since 1985, and it used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, since COVID, it has never been the same. Between the decline in service and the noticeable drop in food quality, this visit was a huge disappointment. I truly hope management can restore this restaurant to the standard it once had.
