There are certain Wednesday nights when the universe cracks open just enough to remind you that God has a twisted sense of humor. This was one of them. I walked into Public House expecting beer and bar food. Instead, I encountered Amanda. Ladies and gentlemen, we need to discuss the P.O.A. Index, an entirely unscientific scale developed after decades of rigorous field research conducted in bars, restaurants, airports, and regrettable weddings. Amanda is an 11-and-a-half out of 10. This is statistically impossible. She has one of those smiles that causes otherwise intelligent men to momentarily forget their own last name. A smile so radiant it could probably qualify as renewable energy. Unfortunately... she failed the Ring Check. Her left hand glimmered like the cruel punchline to an otherwise flawless joke. I briefly considered challenging her fiancé to trial by combat. Pistols at dawn. Sabers. Bare-knuckle boxing. Maybe a chili cook-off. Whatever the law allows these days. I would've won... and history remembers the brave. Now, on to Lauren. Lauren is the bartender. Lauren also committed the unforgivable crime of not swiping right on me on Facebook Dating. I wish her well, but I hope she knows she has created a permanent emotional scar that may never heal. Every time she poured a beer, I could hear Celine Dion playing faintly in the distance. My heart remains broken. The food arrived before I could spiral completely into despair. The onion rings were... objectively terrible. Hard enough to qualify as building materials. If Home Depot started selling battered masonry, these would be aisle seven. And yet... We could not stop eating them. Every ring was another terrible decision. "This one's awful." Crunch. "God, these are terrible." Crunch. "I think they're getting worse." Crunch. I've seen this same behavioral pattern in casinos. The Maxwell Street Polish was magnificent. Greasy. Covered in grilled onions. Exactly the sort of sandwich that reminds you Chicago understands things the rest of the country never will. The Chicago-style hot dog? Exactly what a Chicago dog should be. No unnecessary innovation. No avocado aioli. No artisanal truffle ketchup invented by a man named Brayden. Just an honest Chicago dog doing honest Chicago dog things. The pulled pork sliders were solid, disappearing quickly enough that nobody bothered pretending to be polite. Then came the brat... on the menu, the main topping was listed as sauerkraut. F&$@ that! Absolutely insulting. Keep your fermented cabbage and your Wisconsin propaganda. Give me onions, peppers, mustard, and enough cholesterol to make my physician visibly uncomfortable. Amanda smiled with the effortless confidence of someone who had no idea she was quietly dismantling civilization. I watched one man forget his wife's birthday, another walk into the hostess stand, and a third begin Googling engagement ring financing before she'd even asked if he wanted another Coors Light. Professional. Friendly. Catastrophically attractive. Seven stars... out of five. Lauren still owes me emotional damages. Amanda deserves hazard pay. The onion rings should probably be classified as geological formations. And I'd return tomorrow without hesitation. read more

Good for fun with a focus on value, Mount Prospect Public house serves a fairly standard food menu of appetizers, wings, hot dogs, salads, and sandwiches at a very reasonable price with plenty of specials available. Drink prices are also priced fairly low, even without specials though you can enjoy an evening for less than 20 a person if you order the daily specials. I went here for trivia night and the dining room was fairly spacious and well setup for this. The crowd was lively and service was friendly though not extremely fast. The food was alright for me -- the BBQ pulled pork sliders being my favorite with slightly toasted buns and a fairly sweet sauce. The chicago style hot dog looked good, but was too pickle heavy for me and a bit sloppy to eat. The maxwell street polish was quite flavorful and the grilled onion flavor came out well. The brat was alright as well but there wasn't much that was too memorable about it. The fries were alright for me, but the onion rings were a bit overcooked and too thin for me. Overall, the food is alright but the bar setup and value prices make this a good spot to spend an fun evening with friends. Like everywhere else in this area of Mount Prospect, you may have to park a bit further away from your restaurant and walk if you're going around dinner time. read more

My husband and I met a friend at Mount Prospect Public House for their trivia night. There is not much parking there so we parked a few blocks away. We ordered the BBQ pulled pork sliders, a hot dog, and a Maxwell Polish sausage. They came with French fries and onion rings. These were were the most overcooked onion rings I've ever had. They were difficult to bite through. The rest of the food was average, not bad but not memorable. The trivia game was fun and our team ended up coming in second place. This earned us a $20 gift card. I cannot recommend Mount Prospect Public House. read more

Went in on a Monday night after traveling from Alabama via car. Wanted to try a local place and it did not let me down. I tried wings and a Chicago dog. Neither disappointed me. The wings were bigger than I expected for the price and my first experience with a Chicago Dog left me wanting to have it again. Everyone sat at the bar as it was not too busy and the only complaint I have is the service was little slow. There was just the bartender but only a handful of ppl. Took longer than I expected to get another beer. He was polite and nice but just slow. If ever in the area again I would visit here again. read more

Recently opened in the former Ye Old Town Inn , Mount Prospect Public House maintained its the vintage authenticity throughout the renovations and upgrades. A large space , with pool tables, dart boards, two bars, a fireplace, and lots of TVs. There is lots of wood , paneling and the bar. Service was excellent, attentive, and friendly. They do serve food and offer a variety of bar food, appetizers, sandwiches and salads. Prices were very reasonable. It was nice to see on a Sunday late afternoon there were several patrons. Oh my gosh. We went for a burger and they are absolutely delicious!! Server was so attentive and very and nice. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was too early for the place to be packed. Looked like a lot of locals enjoying the beers. We're not drinkers but it looked like a nice selection. Place started to fill up as we were leaving. Have gone to Mount Prospect Public House a number of times since it opened a year ago. Love the relaxed atmosphere, it's never too loud and the space is done well. It's a great place to meet some friends and play pool or darts. Drinks are well priced and it's a great place to have a conversation and some laughs. The staff is super friendly and is always talking with the bar patrons. Despite Public House's unassuming look, the food is some of the best I have had in Mount Prospect. Great wings, burgers, and salads. The nachos are piled up high and there are cheaper options for those looking for a light snack. We have been going once a week for Monday night trivia ever since they began it about few weeks ago but will probably start bumping that up to twice a week soon. read more

First off, let's go with the dirty mop smell when you walk in...We love home town bars and we're looking forward to our first time here. We sat at a table the bartender came up asking what we wanted, not very friendly and we felt rushed. Then we assume the owner came, asked if we were ready to order then told us to wave when we wanted something. Odd yes, but ok. We waved...nothing! Nobody came by so my husband paid for our drinks at the bar and she was surprised we weren't ordering food. Went for the Bloody Mary special. The bloody was fantastic! The roasted pepper was a nice touch!! They had a complimentary breakfast buffet which was very nice. Real scrambled eggs (NOT hotel breakfast watery garbage) bacon, sausage, potatoes, French toast etc.... We stayed for March Madness games w/lunch and had some killer cheese burger sliders that were also on the weekend special menu. Owner Sam was great and the place had a very nice crowd and people were having fun! It's great that the historic YOTI building / Space is being utilized again .... (Just to clarify I made this post on google reviews too but I'm pretty sure the Manager/Owner flagged it and got it taken down so his precious reviews would look better. The first half is from our first experience, the second half is from our second one. Two friends and I, who were all born in 2003, all just celebrated our 21st birthdays recently. We kept hearing chatter about this new bar in MP and wanted to give it a try. When we got there, the bar had maybe 3 people in it and was completely dead. We sat at the bar and some nice bartender politely asked for our IDs and checked all 3 of ours. My id she had no issues with because it was horizontal, but for some reason she was skeptical of my friends Illinois IDs that were still vertical because they were recently 21. (Even though vertical IDs should be an automatic yes because they do not make fake vertical ids) She asked her manager to come check them. The manager was a sloppy looking guy who pretty much rolled his eyes at us and gave us a sorry and lazy excuse that he couldn't read the ids and he needed his glasses. But he refused to go get his glasses and instead would have rather pushed his only customers for the night out the door. To the bartender, super nice and just doing her job. The owner/manager with the grey hair and accent is a lazy d****bag. Edit as of (6/26/24) My friends and I decided to give the manager and this bar a second chance because all places deserve them. When walking in the second time, the bartender checked the ids and had the manager check the vertical one again. The manager, who had his glasses this time, was able to read the id (yay!!!!). After realizing that we were the ones who came in a few weeks prior, he started being rude and openly pressing us in front of everyone in the bar about us writing bad reviews from our first experience. Instead of being apologetic for being a lazy and rude manager the first time he dealt with us, he instead made us feel uncomfortable in front of everybody in the bar. Then, the manager went behind the bar and proceeded to talk crap about us with a direct quote saying "These are the guys that came in with the vertical IDs a few weeks ago and wrote the reviews. These guys have the audacity to show back up here, screw them!" After hearing this, l immediately finished my beer and left the place to go to the other bars in Mt. Prospect that have nice managers, and actually welcome us and treat us kindly. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH A DICKHEAD MANAGER WHO ONLY CARES ABOUT HIMSELF AND MAKING MONEY FOR HIMSELF (Oh and PS) I have a friend who came in with his 13 year old son, had to wait 20 minutes and flag down a server himself to be served, waited an hour and a half for burgers and wings, they did not cook the wings properly, and my buddy said the food was nothing special. An hour and a half is embarrassing and the lazy manager should get his act up quickly before Emerson's, Station 34, and P's all put this place out of business. (You can't run a business pal with your laziness and loser mentality.
