Hey Nonny used to be my favorite restaurant in Arlington Heights as a local, but sadly, that has changed with the new BBQ menu. The pulled pork sandwich came with NO bbq sauce, the fried pickles were overcooked and a tiny portion, and even my espresso martini was disappointing. The drink menu is also much smaller now. The mac and cheese was good, but overall, the food and experience were nowhere near what it used to be. I really don't understand why they changed the menu. Hey Nonny had some of the best food in town, especially their burger. And serving everything in paper or plastic containers was the final disappointment. Such a shame! This was the first time in AH that I dined and really didn't want to pay my $60 bill for me and my kid. Just wild how quickly their food and service turned from being top notch to lesser than fast food. read more

Overall bad experience. Food was average at best for the price. Steak which is what I ordered was poor quality and tough, cooked poorly and just a waste of money. It was too hot as well in the venue .. uncomfortable. I know it was hot outside but to go into an establishment and not cool you down is pretty bad. Service was good. Food was very disappointing. Boring, VERY one note. Felt like I was at fast food BBQ. I was expecting (wrongly I guess) more upscale BBQ. We ordered apps, pickle chips and curds. Each were $9 and I don't think we got 9 pickle chips or 9 curds. Very small portions, no plates. We also had a bad waiter. We asked about different sauces, he just said, "they all come with sweet, I can switch out later if you want". We wanted to order a side of fries (not the app) for the table to share, waiter said he couldn't do it as it would come as an app, not with our food - crazy. So then we ordered it when our food came. The fries were incredibly disappointing and they gave us a whopping 2 ketchup packets - seriously, packets at a sit down restaurant? And 2? No real plates, served all the food in baskets. The rest of the staff were great. The AH Sounds of Summer band was the saving grace. Won't go back until they change the menu. read more

Been here a few times and sat at the bar. Friendly staff and good drinks. They used to have a drink called the Elivish ( something like that) which was on the dessert drink list. This past weekend the drink was no longer on the menu. Does anyone know how to make this drink? I know it has banana liquor. The bar tender went out of his way to find the banana Liquor in the back and made the drink. Much appreciated but I must know how much to make it or bring it back on the menu :) read more

Bottom Line: On the pricey side but I have to say, overall, a higher quality experience though we could never quite figure out who our server was... This place is in the heart of the downtown which is a fun place to be when they close off the streets to traffic (As an aside that experience is worth a visit even if you don't come here). Decor is rich in warm tones made more sensual with warm-hued lighting--it is calming, relaxing, sensual, or sexy depending on what you make it which is cool. Ok, the service: not super fast and they seemed understaffed for the crowd on a warm night so as our wait for various items grew we'd flag whoever was available and were able to get what we needed but it was a tiny bit frustrating though not enough to kill the vibe and experience. Nice array of menu options from starters to entree if you pay attention you can get a good experience without shaking your wallet out--if you don't order drinks. Everything served was properly prepared and delicious. None of it was "Wow" but it did not need to be as the main thing is that the food was good, a part of, and did not detract from the experience overall. So, if you're looking for a new place to try for a first date, hang with friends, or with the fam, this is a place to try. read more

This review is only for the experience I had seeing an improv show there. The room is very chill and nicely decorated and the seating area by the stage is nice and intimate but those chairs are horrible! It was almost distracting because I was so uncomfortable and still paying for it the next day. The cocktail menu is nice and expansive with a few zero alcohol cocktails- I tried the No Fashioned which was tasty and nicely served with a bourbon cube, but the menu seemed pricey. The service was fine - we just had one round of drinks, so didn't really need a lot. read more

So far, the visits at Hey Nonny have been Sunday brunch, all with enjoyable jazz. The most recent visit: a jazz guitarist played as we were offered a number of choices for Easter brunch: quiche, ham, eggs benedict or shrimp with grits. Eggs Benedict may have suffered a little from the necessary fast production of diners ordering at the same time. The best dessert seemed to be the chocolate one--pairing well with a red wine. The Bloody Marys? Stellar! An affable owner visit added to the day. AND a very patient, efficient and personable server, Ava, divided the charges into three bills for four diners. read more

We went to see a local band recently at Hey Nonny, which was really fun and turns out to be a really cool venue to see live music in the burbs. I've never heard of Hey Nonny until going to this show, now we're telling all our friends about it and looking for more shows to see in the future. The space is just right for seeing live bands. It's big enough to watch a show comfortably without being too big. They have three different ticket/seating options based on what we saw ordering tickets and the layout of the venue. There are 5 high top tables along the perimeter that seat 2-4 people listed as Premier. The majority of seating is the Cabaret, which is around 18 small round tables, all seating 4. There is a general admission standing room right in front of the bar, towards the rear of the venue. The cabaret seating is pretty tight and the tables are small, we had four people in our group and ordered about 4 or 5 appetizers before the show started. It was almost impossible to get everything to fit on the tables, including drinks. The venue space is one large room with no poles or obstructions to view the stage. I don't think there would be any bad seats. Looking forward to supporting more local bands and checking out more live shows at Hey Nonny. read more

Had never been here - until last night! I was totally missing out! This place is a complete Gem. Ambiance - Hip Club / restaurant atmosphere! My husband loved the large projection TVs of the NFL Playoffs and College Basketball Games. I enjoyed the music, drinks and quaintness of the restaurant. Food - Absolutely fantastic. Beet Salad was to die for. I had the pot roast, my husband had pork chop. Huge portions. Absolutely the greatest meals! I can't wait to go back. I hope I can try something else... but I may have to get the pot roast again. It was so good. And we would put in an order and the food was out super quick! You will love this place. read more

I was invited by my buddy to go to Hey Nonny to see "ROCKS OFF". Rocks Off is Chicago's premier and authentic Rolling Stones tribute, delivering music by you guessed it The Rolling Stones. They did a great show over 2 sets & approximately 20 songs by The Rolling Stones. Hey Nonny is located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights 10 S Vail Street. They are a combination gastropub & music venue. This is a great venue for concerts. The stage area has seating w/tables where you can sit and get drinks and food. (I didn't need the food we just ate a prime rib). We were there to see the show as we already grabbed dinner @ Carsons. My buddy had some great seats @ Table 13 located 1 row back from the stage. Last time my group went, food was great. Went last night, 2 of us are chefs, and food wasn't good. The wagyu skirt steak...no way was that wagyu. Nevertheless, if it was, it wasn't outside skirt steak. It was the toughest, chewiest piece of meat. It had to be an inside skirt, and to charge $32 for about 6 oz of shit, is a joke. I can get American Wagyu inside skirt at $6-7/lb; yet, the only time I'd serve inside skirt, is diced up in a taco. I would never charge someone the same price I just paid the night before at Perry's for a small filet, for inside skirt. Then again, I would never serve inside skirt as an entree. Also ordered panna cotta, which is a creamy custard. Evidently, they don't know this. You shouldn't go to take a scoop and the whole amount in the bowl moves. They used so much gelatin, that it was just a solid mass. The chocolate tart is just meh. The apps were decent. The ciobatta was good, the sausage meatballs were tasty, slightly too dense tho. The fried shrimp cocktail, do not recommend. They were small, super flat butterflied, and perfectly consistent in size (prob 35-40/#) directly out of a bag, frozen, cheap crap. If you want to do a fried shrimp, use larger shrimp, bread it yourself, have a little pride. We really thought we would be making this place a part of our rotation, but after last night's meal, we will not. One good note, our server was good, sarcastic (which we like when they can joke around), but should've taken us a little more seriously about the steak. read more

I have been here twice now, once for music, and once for trivia, both visits went well. There is a free parking window in the neighboring garage to take advantage of. Fyi they seem to be big on reservations. Plenty of beverage options to be had. As for food, my two faves so far? The grilled vegetable plate and the brisket tacos, both were just what the doctor ordered and were mighty tasty, I would totally get them again. Hey Nonny is at one of the ends of the Arlington Heights Al Fresco areas in the downtown area, allowing for outdoor seating in the summer and enough room in the back for the winter. I have been a couple times for dinner and for just drinks and music. They have some delicious signature cocktails and your standard old school drinks that you're used to. They also have wine and beer, and the selection is plenty. The best part of it all is that they have mocktails. I like having a fancy drink, but don't always want the liquor, so that was great to see. Their menu is interesting, with some fusion of random cuisines, but they are good. You receive flavorful food and the portions aren't small. It's nice because of the price you pay. While the food and drinks are delicious, be prepared to dish out some cash. You will spend about $15-20 for appetizers and $20-30 for main plates. Signatures drinks go for $15-20. There was a time I also went to see a band play. Some bands have cover charges, and other bands allow shows for free. While the band was going, the server was always there to give us refills while we were able to enjoy some good sounds. I like Hey Nonny. While it's more so of a "fancy American restaurant" they execute it well. read more

We went to Hey Nonny for dinner and a show. When we arrived, we had reservations for dinner and were seated right away, but the dining room was empty. The bar did have a few people sitting there. It took a few minutes but we realized there was a "Christmas Story" pop-up going on. They had three large TVs with the movie playing on them, and all sorts of memorabilia around the room. It was fun. My dinner was good. Others at the table weren't so pleased. One in our party commented the burger was the smallest they have ever seen. I had a Barbeque Chicken sandwich which I thought was very good. The fries could have been crisper but were clearly hand-cut. One thing I really liked was they didn't oversalt the meals. You can always add salt but you can't take it away. The server was really outstanding. When we entered the venue we took our seats. We had one VIP ticket but the rest were general admission. I took one of the general admission seats but the view was fine. There is a small stage, VIP tables in the front by the stage, and VIP tables in the back that were high-tops so you looked over the crowd. Two of the three performers and the Master of Ceremonies were professionals, one of the performers was not. She may have been the best of all of them. The show was a Cabaret and since there were a few of the performers who came down with COVID or were exposed, they were left with only three performers and the master of ceremonies. The reason for four stars instead of five. First was the mixed reviews on the food. But in the theater, it was very crowded with people sitting so close to each other our shoulders touched. And, in this time of COVID and multiple variants, if the closeness wasn't uncomfortable enough, the overwhelming majority of people did not wear masks. Yes, there is a bar and yes, they serve food. I can understand if people need to take their masks off for that. But after your done, they didn't put their masks on. Seriously? I enjoyed my meal and enjoyed the show. I don't expect I'll return until we have the pandemic under more control. read more

I went to Hey Nonny for a friend's birthday brunch on March 13. While I've eaten on the patio before, as well as on the right side of the restaurant (the room without the live music), this was my first time dining alongside the entertainment. My group had a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. Our server, Brittany, was wonderful -- very patient with our questions and requests to omit/add ingredients, and made sure our water glasses were always full. She also went above and beyond to try to accommodate me when I asked whether they serve lattes (they only serve regular coffee, no lattes or other caffeinated drinks). I ordered the Chicken Bergamot sandwich, and enjoyed it. The thickest part in the center was on the pink side, so I sliced that part off when I noticed it. The fries were soft and thick, but otherwise not memorable. Our server overheard us talking about my friend's birthday, and offered to bring a free dessert, which was really nice. The chocolate lava cake was delicious. While we ate and talked, a jazz singer and piano player performed at the front of the room. They provided nice ambiance without being obtrusive. All of my experiences at Hey Nonny thus far have overall been positive ones, and I'm sure I'll be back! read more

What a terrific place. I was sidetracked due to traffic so decided to have dinner in Arlington Heights. Parked in the public parking garage and walked out and fell into this restaurant. Beautiful patio dining but decided to eat at the bar. Great video screens at the bar. Welcomed by the bartender and started with the Juggernaut Pinot. Very good. Bartender was informative about the specials and his favorites on the menu. I started with the spinach salad and blue cheese. My only tweak was too much dressing was poured on but didn't stop me from cleaning my bowl. For my entree I had the chicken papillard which was excellent. I'm told live music is played here at night so I need to come back. I'll be back! read more

I love Hey Nonny's for their live music. However the food has taken a bit of a dive since I was last there in 2023. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and the sauce on them was too hot for me to eat, so my husband enjoyed them. The burger that we both had (Nonny Burger) was way overcooked--almost like shoe leather. If we did not have a show to run to, we would have sent it back. In the past, we loved this burger. Not sure what happened. My husband ordered "medium" and said maybe to make mine a bit past that, and I said "medium" is fine. No one said shoe leather! No pickles on burger--sigh. The fries were good and plentiful. Margaritas were tasty. Not sure I would come in early again for dinner before a show, but I do love their live music shows in the music room, and it's a nice touch that there's also some live music in the restaurant area. Hey Nonny venue is the best there is for music. The restaurant however is another story. Had the tureen of lamb and the chorizo meatballs - both appetizers. The lamb was pressed and served in the shape of a piece of bread. Very off putting texture. I was expecting it to be covered in some sort of sauce. The chorizo "meatballs" were the shape of meatballs but that is where the similarity ends. Very hard almost like a sausage casing but was very difficult to cut and hard on the inside. Husband got the chicken which he liked. The week before I had the smashburger and it was very charred and dried. I should have sent it back because I have had it there before and liked it. The last 2 experiences were not good. Overall, I'd give a thumbs down for the poor quality food and the inconsistency of the items. read more

Such a great place for brunch. Our party of 10 enjoyed the music and the ambiance. Nice place, nice decor. People are friendly here. The service was great, the food was awesome. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The sausage was great and the egg scramble in the AM feast was a great mixture of flavors. Most in our party ordered the Nonny feast and the AM Scrambler. Both are fantastic. The jam that comes with the AM scrambler was just right. Not too sweet and just enough for your toast. I would recommend coming but I believe they are doing away with the brunch. Pricey, but worth it. My friend said it's her fav, but I was hesitant since the menu seemed blah. My sister and I tried it and loved it. Shared empanadas, cold cauliflower soup, bolognese pasta, and a special that day--banana pudding. The banana pudding came with ice cream! Everything was yummy and presented beautifully. We rarely love everything we order, but did here. I got the "AMALFI COAST VILLA" drink. I asked our tattoo rocking server, Britany?, how this compared with the ELDERFLOWER LYCHEE G+T. She was nice and attentive. Said Amalfi was sweeter, so I tried that. Liked it, smooth and subtly sweet. It was rainy that day, so ate inside. Even after the band stoped playing, it was very loud and hard to hear/talk to my sister. It was tricky to get in with my wheelchair; the main door was roped off for outdoor seating on the sidewalk where the ramp is. My sister had to move the post/rope. Getting out of the restaurant after all the indoor tables got full. Had to ask seated folks to move. Want to return for happy hour. read more

I attended a comedy night there and they did say it would be a limited menu. But their prices were totally ridiculous I had french fries and brussel sprouts was the cheapest thing I could find on their small menu I added a Diet Coke and it cost me $25 that's really a shame these restaurants are getting carried away with the pricing that us average people can't afford to even come. read more

My fiancé and I came here on 11/30 to watch our friend perform in Love & Rock. The performance area was a bit smaller than I had expected, but I was able to see a lot more from the angle of our premier seating than I had expected (minus the pole). Our server, Michael was wonderful, however, I was kind of shocked that he wasn't able to recommend a signature drink. I'd think the servers would have those memorized, or they'd at least have a favorite, but what do I know? The acoustics were great and my drink (Harmony Park) was SO YUMMY. The food was extremely fresh and they did well with customizing my veg dinner. I don't eat seafood, but even I was tempted to eat the calamari that my fiancé ordered TWO servings of (LOL). Tickets are fairly priced ($25 for a premier seat, and no need to book a reservation for dinner).Free weekend parking on the 5th level of the adjacent parking garage as well. We will definitely be back in the near future! Pro tip: there is a bathroom and hooks to hang your jacket through the door just past the bar, but within the performance area, so you don't have to walk out to the main restaurant. read more

I recently had the opportunity to attend dinner at Hey Nonny. Let me start off with the positive- The location is beautiful and I love the outdoor dinning. They have live music as well which was nice. Let's discuss the food - I had the steak and Fritas and the steak was terrible - unfortunately it's drowning in a terrible sauce and completely ruined the steak - The fritas were hard and not tasty. I had a mezcal cocktail - Unfortunately, not made well. The bartender over poured and the cocktail was off balance. Lastly the following day the entire dinner party was sick from their dinner. I hope they can revisit their menu because the location was very nice. read more

I was visiting friends for a scary movie night and picked up food at Hey Nonny. First, downtown Arlington Heights is always a pleasure. It's such a lively and cute area. Pick up was easy peasy. We got the veggie burger, buskers BBQ chicken, and bergamont chicken sandwich, all served with thick cut steak fries. Each of us really enjoyed our food. The one criticism is the cost. Each item was $16, and the portions were normal. I think this is pretty high unless they're paying their staff a living wage. read more

Great live music! They have decent seating indoors and outdoors on their patio. Their staff are very friendly and helpful! They're also dog friendly for those that are good doggos and puppers when dining with people. Their menu tends to get updated once in a while. Inhave tried various menu options since they came to be in downtown AH and have always left satisfied. Make a reservation for Friday and Saturday during "peak" dining hours if you want a guaranteed table. They also do brunch on Saturday and Sunday with all you can drink mimosas! read more

5* for Venue. Love the small venue and intimate seating close to the performer. Come for the great music but eat elsewhere before the show. 2* for the Venue Food. What a disappointment. I had eaten in the restaurant many years ago and loved it. Not sure if a different cook for venue food but they need to change this. I ordered the Grilled Calamari and had to send it back. The Calamari did not taste fresh and I did not trust it. I then asked them to give me the Citrus Beet Salad. Everyone at the table was laughing when it arrived. A huge bowl of leafy greens with a few chunks of beets and a tbsp of goat cheese. Was this done because I had returned the first dish or is this normal? Well, this was not a satisfying dish and I went home hungry. But loved the music! read more
