Overall we enjoyed our experience. The food was phenomenal. We came here after spending the day at the Chicago Botanical Gardens and it was a perfect treat. We were all starving after walking around. And the outdoor seating is perfect for kids. The food was LEGIT. I personally love Italian - pizza, pasta, salads. And all so fresh. We started with baked artichoke and the shredded brussle sprout salad. The baked artichoke was damn delicious and we al joked we could eat a few more plates of them. The brussle sprout salad I'd skip next time. It was shredded enough and the brussle sprouts needed to sit in the lemon juice a little longer to loosen up. It was too hard to eat and because some of the pieces weren't shredded enough you couldn't bite into it. The kids both got rigatoni in a red sauce and finished their entire plates. The only thing I wish is that they had a kids menu because if they want a drink to it comes out to $16 a kid ($12 for pasta and $4 for drink). And the kids soda is just as much as the adults soda. But the pasta itself was freshly made and the red sauce was so good I could drink it. And prolly the most frustrating part of the meal was asking if they had bread to be told that they don't except we watched baskets of bread be brought to our tables. When we asked our waiter Jeffrey if they had bread he said no twice and told us they have focaccia. The kids obviously didn't like it. After being lied to we decided to ask someone else who then brought us the free bread ??? So don't get tricked to order focaccia because they do have bread. This was really frustrating to be straight lied to and the focaccia in my mind wasn't worth $12. It needed more oil while being baked because it was dry. But in all my dining experiences I've never been lied to about getting a basket of bread just to get us to buy focaccia. It was so weird. I ordered the tortellini with balsamic and I enjoyed the tortellini themselves but the sauce lacked flavor. It almost needed a mushroom base or something that had more a punch. My husband got the bolognese and really enjoyed it and he is the last person to order pasta out. My best friend got the eggplant lasagne and damn it was good. I forget what her husband got. Then we also ordered pizza for the table and shit it was so good. Next time I'd try the mushroom pizza. We sat outside and the ambiance out there is much more livelier than inside especially if you're traveling with kiddos. They also had a magician who came to our table and really made the night enjoyable for the kids. We plan to head back at some time and have learned our bread lesson lol. Next time we would just ask for another waiter because being lied to is just odd. read more

This was a very nice visit for Italian out in Winnetka. We had a date to go to Lightscape at the Chicago Botanical Gardens and looked for a place close by to have dinner before ... thus we found Mino's. It was a very nice place with simple decor, had great ambiance for families, a lot of outdoor seating that we could return for with better weather, and a little firepit going on the patio to greet you as you walked up to the front door. Nice start. One of their hallmarks is handmade pasta and pizza ... and for dinner one in our party had the Il Mino pizza (4 stars, which was very nice with little pieces of Calabrian chili in it to give it some oomph and a generous helping of sausage); another had the White Truffle Pasta (5 star stuff, with shaved white truffles on top of very nice pasta); and the last had the Tortelloni (4 star stuff that was delightful, but just a bit al dente). I was leaning toward a 4 star rating for the whole experience here, but had to round it up to 5 stars because of the Burrata appetizer ... creamy cheese and nice prosciutto. Other stuff: as a family place, you should expect that there will probably be kids running back and forth, something which is not the establishment's fault ... but can be distracting at times; the full-service bar served up nicely curated drinks, but suffered a bit from small pours; service (Andrew) was exceptional, as he appeared every time we were just about in need; easy 90 minute street parking was available; the men's bathroom could have used a bit of attending; and they don't offer bread for the table: probably because some bread appears with appetizers like the crostini that came with the Burrata, and they probably want you to get a pizza rather than fill up on plain bread. While they have gone the way of most restaurant in adding a 3% surcharge for using a credit card ... all in all this was a very nice dinner ... we will be back. read more

All I can say is WOW. Mino's does not feel like a suburban restaurant. The quality of the food is absolutely through the roof. Everything from the apps, to the main course, to the desserts are pricey but absolutely delicious. If you're lucky enough to sit on the patio with the sun shining, you might just have the best restaurant experience of the year. They have a bisteca on the menu which is absolutely immaculate. And I've had hundreds of steaks around the country. It has to be one of the top 3 steaks I've ever had. Perfectly aged, perfectly cooked, perfect texture, perfect aftertaste. Top notch all around. My only criticism is that the indoor dining area is lackluster. I'm not sure why they don't dress up the decor and the lighting a bit. Otherwise, this is a wonderful night out that shouldn't be missed! read more

I love handmade pasta! We came with our neighbors who have come here a lot that they knew they menu really well. But unfortunately they had recently changed some of the items that they usually get. But still the food was delicious. My husband and I had the rigatoni and bolognese. The rigatoni was the star with the penne vodka sauce and the little spice in it. The drinks were delicious!! They have a patio that when we got there it was raining too hard to sit but by the time we left the rain stopped and the patio was almost full! This place can get super busy, so make reservations. First time here with another couple and we had a lovely dinner. A cool vibe inside as a converted auto shop with semi industrial decor and a lively atmosphere. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly too. A nice menu and a great wine list. We enjoyed our burrata and calamari/ shrimp appetizers-- the latter was unique with veggies and 2 sauces. Everyone enjoyed their entrees -- all pasta dishes. I had the linguine with clams in white sauce and really enjoyed the handmade? Pasta -- just perfectly cooked with a generous portion of clams and plenty of shaved garlic. We were too full for dessert and left happy. The only wrinkle was that it was a tad difficult to hold a conversation given how loud the room was. The patio looked inviting and is on the list perhaps for warmer days next years. read more

On a Wednesday in July the three of us came to Mino's. We wanted to share an appetizer, a first course, second course, a vegetable, and salad. The wait staff was attentive. They switched out the small appetizer dish and brought out a dinner plate for each of us. The food was brought out quickly and all at once. We ordered fritto misto, Mino's Caesar, tagliatelle alla Bolognese, the branzino, and fagioli verde (green beans). The pasta was a bit salty but paired well with the green beans. The fritto misto was crunchy, very good, not too oily. We had room for dessert and ordered the cherry crostata with vanilla gelato, and tiramisu. We were surprised when the staff brought out these plus a vanilla gelato with honey, olive oil and fennel pollen, on the house. Everything was delicious. A dinner to remember. The furniture was comfortable. The lighting and the interior design are modern, clean and appealing. read more

HOW have I not reviewed Mino's yet?! I went there pretty much right before the pandemic officially "began" in our area, and I loved it. I think I got the bolognese? I remember finding the food delicious. Everyone at the table agreed about their respective dishes. Flash forward to seeing them available on Resy, and I knew it would be an outstanding choice for my birthday dinner. It really was! The only negative here is that the parking is limited and, as a result, annoying to find. Even so, we ultimately found parking and walked over in the 95 degree heat. The restaurant is a bit dimly lit, but not where you can't see the menu or other people! It also has a refined, sophisticated feeling, but not pretentious or stuffy, so families, date nights, friend outings, and such are all common here. Our waiter was very nice - I think his name was Roshan, apologies for misspelling. The service here is personalized and well coordinated - no one bringing out plates and wondering who gets what (when that happens at restaurants, it's not a problem, but it's cool that here it's so seamless). We ordered a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (red) wine, one of our favorite types. (We are not experts but we like what we like!) It was good but not amazing. Even so, it didn't need to be - the food stood out here anyway. We started with a Caesar, my husband's idea. It was portioned for each of us before arriving at our table. The parmesan was delicious, and the dressing was light - and lightly dressed, nothing overwhelming. Our main courses were wonderful! My husband liked his margherita pizza. I went with the rigatoni; it seemed like a fun way to celebrate. It was incredible! The sauce was flavorful, the pasta was al dente without being crunchy, and everything came together beautifully. My husband is not a big pasta eater but tried some...and kept trying it! Our waiter asked us before dessert if we had any dislikes. After discussing this, after a bit, we got a lovely birthday dessert: apple crostata...and a serving of pistachio gelato! The crostata was amazing. The dough itself was delicious, and the filling with apple and rhubarb (plus tons of spices, possibly clove, some nutmeg?) screamed "fall" - very comforting. The pistachio gelato was not super sweet and instead went well with the roasted pistachios embedded in it. Still, we were pretty full and directed our focus to the crostata. This is definitely a restaurant worth visiting! read more

Here's what you need to know: the food is safe - enjoyable but the flavor's won't linger in your mind after a few days. However, what sets this place apart and makes for a 5 star experiment is the service and ambiance. I cannot say enough good things about the management - led by Steve - and his team (shout out to Jesus) who are so charming and warm and welcoming and guest focused that they make you love your time at Mino's. Also, that patio experience in summer and fall is just unbeatable. Possibly in the best patio casual atmospheres in the Chicagoland. Huge kudos to Steve and team for providing such gracious service and making guests have an amazing time, every visit of ours. We had the Vongole (great the first time but a bit off on our second visit but still enjoyable) and octopus (very well cooked) Pricing was competitive and fair for the area. YUM had such a delicious dinner at Minos with my friend a few weeks ago. Such a great place to grab a girls din on the back patio when the weather is nice. We chatted for a while and started with the cheese and charcuterie and a bottle of wine (obvious necessity for a girls din). The cheese board was good - nothing shocking. I'll start off by saying that Mino's used to be one of our favorite places. It had consistently good, fresh food and warm service. We haven't been in about 6 months. Our last visit was mediocre, and we didn't come back for a while. We visited today for dinner. Our server was very, very slow. We had the focaccia, which was quite dry. The Welp Farms lettuce salad used to be so fresh, with an excellent dressing. Got it today, it was brown and the shaved veggies were dry, like it had been sitting for days. The dressing was tasteless. Also got the antipasto salad, which was fresher but tasted off. The veggie lasagna was ok, but the eggplant was bitter, as if it hadn't been properly salted, and there were no lasagna noodles, which wasn't clear from menu description. Mino's is my favorite restaurant on the North Shore. The staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The food is consistent and delicious, with menus changing seasonally. Tonight we had artichokes (a staple), steak tartare, halibut with beurre blanc, chicken piccata and a tuna nicoise with anchovies and white beans - a perfect light dish. Other nights we love the fresh pasta and pizza and salads. In the summer, I could sit for hours on the patio. The bar makes such a good cocktail and the Italian wine selection fits any food selection. It's a neighborhood spot but worth a destination trip. I can't sing it's praises enough. read more

Mino's is as Italian as an Italian restaurant can get. The food was outstanding. Trout was perfectly prepared and seasoned; Tortelloni out of this world; Cacia pepe delicious. The shared sides of insalata verde and fungi trilfolati were great accompaniments. Desserts were exceptional, especially gelato di lilia was out of this world. Although the restaurant we fully occupied and noisy, it added to the exciting atmosphere. As were celebrating a birthday, the desserts were gratis..nice touch. Prices on high side but well worth it. Food and service are top notch, but the bar sucks. I ordered a spicy old manhattan. Since this is a 5 star very expensive place, I thought I didn't have to specify the type of Bourbon. My mistake. Bartender used a low quality whiskey that gave me a terrible headache next day. To make things worse both my wife and daughter also had a bad hangover after their cocktails. Again, great service and delicious food... but the bar not so much. Are you guys outsourcing the bar services? Why save money with cheap alcohol just to lose customers? read more

This is our go to place for Sunday night dinner, but now we are doing take out! The curb side pick up is really easy. The lady who answers the phone is very friendly and we really appreciate everyone working there to continue our weekly Mino's dinner schedule during this crazy time. Here's our go to items: Bolognese - Kid's favorite (I have to order 2 of them because my kids love it so much) Salsiccia Pizza - Love this pizza. We order it without onions for the kids and it makes a great lunch the next day. Tagliata Di Manzo - We order this medium rare and it's delicious. I look forward to this dish with a proper glass of wine. Filet - This is delicious. We order this if they have it available. We have tried Tocco as well but we prefer Mino's. :) read more

Wow! What can I say aside from the fact that this is the BEST restaurant in the burbs. And I don't mean that lightly. It rivals some of the better restaurants in the city. The dry-aged bistecca is one of the FINEST steaks my wife and I have EVER had. The texture is exquisite and the flavor has by far the most amount of layers I have ever enjoyed in a steak. It ain't cheap, but it's worth every penny and then some, especially for those special occasions. The cocktail and wine lists are fairly well curated, and the apps and deserts are epic as well. One of those rare places where EVERY course is delicious. Did I mention this place is in the SUBURBS?!?! Come here and have one of the best meals of the year, without having to fight downtown Chicago traffic and parking! Top notch all around. read more

An excellent Italian spot with a relaxing outdoor seating area and delicious food. Started off with fritto misto (fried calamari and shrimp), and a margherita pizza. Both were excellent, pizza was nice and thin, crispy, and fresh sauce, and the fritto misto had a nice light crisp breading and some excellent spicy peppers mixed in to add to the flavor. For the entrees, I got the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese and I also tried the porterhouse steak which we split amongst the table. Tagliatelle had a great texture, very well made and sauce was flavorful and the meat was very tender and delicious. The porterhouse was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and highly recommend. We split a bunch of dessert that the servers brought out since it was a birthday dinner. It comprised of tiramisu, raspberry sorbet, banana gelato, and a flourless chocolate cake. The banana gelato was my favorite and the tiramisu was excellent as well. Would definitely come back here to try more. read more
