We've eaten at Field House several times, and order delivery on a semi-regular basis. I can't do half stars, but I would do 4.5/5. Here are some highlights: great service (very attentive), family friendly, excellent food (nachos, calamari, wings, burrata salad, steak tacos, the veg flatbread, steak frites - phenomenal, and the chocolate cake), nice sports environment but not too loud. I haven't been in the Deerfield area for several years but my friend and I had to stop to eat while running an errand in neighboring Highland Park, so we came here because it was one of the few restaurants open at 9:30pm in this area. The place was clean, it was well lit and we were promptly seated. Our server (Kaila C.) was very pleasant and professional. I explained to her that I was hearing-impaired and she was very patient and helpful. The food we ordered was very tasty. It took a couple of tries but we were finally able to give Field House a try. The first time we tried we were given a $10 gift certificate and invited to try again on another night. The second time we tried we made reservations two weeks in advance. While we enjoyed our meal we didn't think the experience was worth the effort to have it. The Field House dining room looks very similar to the dining room of the previous restaurant in the same space. It makes for a nice date night location. The service is friendly. We enjoyed our beverages - a hard cider and a cocktail and the cookie skillet dessert was what it was expected to be. The other items were okay. We tried the calamari and cauliflower bites appetizers. The cauliflower appetizer was marinated cauliflower which was different than what I expected. It was fine but I probably wouldn't order it again. It mostly tasted like raw cauliflower. Our flatbread was good however we ordered it without onions but still ended up with onions on it. I'm a little confused about Field House. Is it called Field House (logo has a deer/stag) because it's located in Deerfield? Is it a sports bar? Is the menu composed of foraged ingredients? The website said it is a space where "dinner feels easy, social and elevated." It is American classics and a lively bar program. Naming conventions aside, our party of 7 rolled in on a weekend afternoon and were warmly greeted and seated (we had reservations). The atmosphere is modern, cozy. The menu has several tantalizing "shareables," burgers, salads, flatbreads, tacos and handhelds. I had a Cranberry Fields Forever cocktail. I also had street corn (delicious!) and Brussels sprouts (yum!). Our party also ordered carne asada tacos, field house club, truffle royale burger, kale arugula salad and a chopped salad. Our food came quickly, and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Restaurants seem to come and go in this location. This would be a great meeting place, happy hour, or a lunch with friends. We had a wonderful experience. We were a group a of six, including two small children. Our server, Michael, was so kind and smart about the best way to wait on and time serving a group with kids. I've been looking forward to the opening of this restaurant for a good while. I was very happy when it finally opened recently. I tried to make a reservation for dinner, but dinner reservations were always full so I made a reservation for lunch yesterday. My family's consensus was that it was okay but could have been better. First, when we received our food, the waiter asked who had the Triple B burger and I said that was me. However, what I was given was actually my wife's burger, the Truffle Royale. I didn't notice until a couple of bites and then we swapped burgers. Second, my burger didn't have the bacon it was supposed to come with. That led to the first issue as her burger didn't have bacon so she thought perhaps what she received was correct. I mentioned the lack of bacon to the waitress and she did address the issue. Third, the service was a bit meh. It took a while before we could find our waitress to resolve the bacon issue and then, after correcting things, we didn't see our waitress until we were finished. Overall, it was an alright lunch. I think the burgers could have been better. I think mine needed more BBQ sauce and more blue cheese. My wife thought the meat in her burger was kind of bland. We both thought the fries were good and I enjoyed trying a new beer. My son seemed to enjoy his club. Although not an issue for me as I can walk to the restaurant, I should note that parking is a bit limited. read more

We arrived at 5:15pm on Sunday night and it was just starting to fill up. It helped that we had made a reservation and were seated very promptly. This was our second visit to Fieldhouse and it was as good or better than our first visit. The standouts were the Margherita pizza and the buffalo chicken wings. The Margherita pizza was so much more than your average flatbread. The crust was so light and crispy. The edges stayed crunchy even 20 minutes after it arrived at our table. The cheese and pesto on the pizza were great quality and very tasty. The wings were also very good. Even the celery was fresh and crunchy. The service on our visit was great. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate one of our party that has a disability and cannot manage to sit at a stool or hightop table and that was greatly appreciated. Also we were impressed that the manager stopped by our table on two occasions to make certain everything was good with our meals. We had a wonderful time at Field House yesterday. Tuna tataki and roast chicken were perfection, especially the minced root vegetables that came with the tuna-- the kind of little touch that makes a standard dish interesting. Probably the best were the roasted potatoes that came with the chicken, crispy skin and meliting on the inside. The gelato-- chocolate and pistachio-- was very good too. I really have to give the staff a shoutout for the way they handled my friend's wheelchair. We always call ahead to make sure restaurants can accomodate. A lot of places say they can do it, and they mean well, but it turns out to be kind of a pain. These folks swung into action smoothly and got us to our table in seconds. You would think they do this every day. The parking was super convenient, right by the door, and the area was quite open and easy to navigate around. My Guinness arrived in a can and I was asked if I wanted a glass..... even the can states 'Best enjoyed in a Glass' but neither the bartender, who should know better, or server had a clue.... Just after our drinks arrived the waitress was back pressing us to order..... Please give us some time to enjoy our drinks and to look at the menu! Once ordered the side salad came out instantly followed by a 30 minute wait for the mains. Then the Food Auction began.... who had the chicken? Who had the tacos? Who had this burger- no wait it's the chicken club not the burger? It's unprofessional in my opinion to have no clue who ordered what when the same server took your order! And after 4 of the 6 plates arrived two of us sat there waiting for our food while the other four let their food get cold trying to be kind. Waiting......waiting....After 5 minutes I finally got up and walked to the kitchen and asked for the manager who arrived after a few more minutes. I'll admit I was fairly blunt in asking why 4 of 6 diners had food which was getting cold while 2 of us were still waiting. He quickly appeared with the 2 missing meals which I guess were likely sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served but weren't taken by our servers. My Hangover burger was excellent except the top bun seemed dried out as others reviews have noted, maybe from sitting under a heat lamp too long. Great burger, bacon, egg and maple syrup combined for one of the best burgers I've had. The fries were nothing special and brought to mind the frozen ones made of processed potatoes with a coating. I likely had the tastiest entree. Turkey burger was described as 'dense' and was a lot smaller than a beef one. Bun was also noted to be dry. The chicken sandwich was well received and enjoyed but my friend stole the sweet potato fries from her neighbor rather than eat her own regular ones. Chicken tacos were described as 'filling' with no mention of taste and the brick chicken was enjoyed despite questions as to whether the Brick was actually used... a plump bird which was juicy and tasty but we joked no brick marks could be found. Then once done the waitress was no place to be found and we had a wait quite a while for our check, which was very reasonable. Our friend who comes here often and recommended we come here was very embarrassed and I can understand why. Generally mistakes like the incomplete main course service come with an apology, which we received, and some token acknowledgment. When discussing if we'd return I still can't give an answer. They proved to have pretty good food but the quality of the service we experienced left a lot to be desired. It takes more than just food to enjoy eating a meal out. read more

I wasn't wowed. It was all pretty average. One thing that our entire family enjoyed a lot was the curds. They were the only item that stood out on the menu and were slightly unique and different. We love this place. The food is so delicious. We dined with two children who were starving after a day at the swimming pool. They ate everything in sight. I visited this restaurant in the early afternoon, and while the wait for seating was reasonable because there were plenty of open tables, everything after that was disappointing. Once we sat down, it took about 15 minutes before a server came over, and all she did was ask if we wanted something to drink. We waited another 15 minutes just to place our food order. When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre. The portions were small, the flavors were underwhelming, and the fries were honestly some of the worst I have ever had. Nothing about the meal tasted like it had been properly tested or refined. Throughout the visit, the staff kept saying "we're new" as an explanation for every issue. That is not a valid excuse. If a restaurant is not ready, if the menu is not finalized, if the staff is not trained, and if the food has not been properly taste-tested, then they should not open to the public yet. Customers should not be paying for the restaurant to figure things out as they go. The staff seemed very young and inexperienced, and it was clear they were learning everything on the job. Even the menu felt confused. It was a random mix of bar food, American dishes, Mexican items, and other things that did not make sense together as one concept. Overall, I cannot recommend this place. The service was slow, the food was disappointing, and the entire operation felt unprepared. I hope they improve, but right now it is not worth the visit. read more

We ordered takeout for Saturday night, three couples, to be ready for a specific pickup time. First, the food wasn't ready, and then they were confused by our order because we each ordered under our own names to be picked up by one person. Then they left off an item that was ordered by one of the couples. They also allowed one of our friends to order three different tacos when their policy is apparently that they all have to be the same. I ordered the Rueben. Awful! The corned beef was skimpy and dried out, hardly any sauerkraut. The mashed potatoes had no flavor of even though they were "garlic mashed."
