We were doing a staycation at a hotel in Deerfield and were looking for someplace new to try for lunch. I came across the reviews of Guzman y Gomez on Yelp, and it sounded great, and we decided to try it. When I looked it up, I found out that if I ordered through the app we could start earning rewards, so we did this, and went inside to pick up the order and eat. Everything was ready and waiting in a large bag for us to pick up. We grabbed it at the pick up window, and went into the dining area to sit and eat. I ordered two tacos, and my husband got a burrito. With the tacos, I chose ground beef, and chose mild on the seasoning. They were very good, although I think next time I'll try spicy and see if I like that even better. But what set them apart was that the taco shells themselves had some taco seasoning on them that was delicious. The tacos also just had the basics, which is how I like them - meat, cheese, and salsa. And two were plenty for me, very substantial. My husband tried the ground beef burrito, which was huge. He could only eat half, and took the other half to eat later. He said he enjoyed it a lot. We were looking forward to going back, but I read just now that all the Chicago locations have closed as of today. That's a shame, because we really liked it a lot. read more

First time at this location. My first time trying the Cali burrito. In my burrito I had ,steak, chipotle season fries, Jack, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo fresh chopped house, blend salsa, pickled jalapeño (spicy only) and hot sauce(spicy only). All the ingredients are standard with the Cali burrito. You can choose from a spice level mid or spicy . I went with eh spicy . They have a lot of protein you can choose from like grilled chicken, sirloin, steak, Carnitas, shredded beef, brisket, seasoned ground beef, or sautéed vegetables with guacamole. The burritos is on the smaller side, but it packs a punch full of flavor. From the fries to the salsa to the fresh pico. Highly recommended the Cali burrito. They also have this salsas, cilantro, and jalapeño and spicy pickled carrots station where you can help yourself . They also serve liquor here . The decor inside definitely has the Spanish theme. From the art on the wall to the vines hanging down from the ceiling . The service is great. I love how they have the open kitchen where you can see them cook. read more

I typically order ahead on the app, as there is always a new promo happening and you earn rewards, but I finally dined in with a group of friends this past week. The hot sauces are delish, as well as their frescas and lemonades. Bright Mexican eatery with breakfast, tacos, burritos, bowls, more. It's small inside, not a lot of seating but has a spacious parking lot. This took the spot of the former Joe Donut. There are a lot of options to customize your food. I like that there are no preservatives or additives, artificial colors or flavors. I ordered a bowl with veggies and guac, no rice or beans, mild sauce. This was very tasty, and there is a sauce bar with additional sauces, cilantro and onions. My friend had a ground beef taco with hard shell. My friend raved about the guacamole. Our food was fresh tasting and I like that they are transparent about their ingredients. I decided to try this restaurant because they mailed me a BOGO coupon. When I ordered my burrito, I mentioned that I am vegan and it was my first time eating there, so I needed help ordering the right thing. The employee was very nice and said he would tell the kitchen so there was no cross-contamination. I asked for the veggie option, not realizing that all burritos automatically come with cheese and sour cream. Plus, if they did, I would have thought the employee working the register would have mentioned it. After ordering, my friend and I sat down at a table with our number. The place had a fun vibe and there was music on but not too loud. After about 5 minutes, our food came out and looked good. I took a big bite of my veggie burrito but soon realized there was dairy in it. I brought it back to the counter to let them know and they said they'd check to see if the dairy was their vegan queso (which I do not see on their menu). After checking with the kitchen staff, they found out there was cheese and sour cream in it and said they'd quickly make me another burrito. They gave the original one back to me so I brought it home to another family member. Minutes later, the vegan burrito arrived. It was tasty and I enjoyed the ingredients and texture. The chips were great, and I appreciate that they did not taste overly salty. The guacamole was just right. I have been looking forward to the opening of the Deerfield Guzman y Gomez. I made a point to stop by today for their grand opening. It was a bit crowded due to it being opening day. However, the food was very good and served quickly. I thought the brisket had a nice flavor and it was nice pairing it with a frozen margarita. I appreciated that they had staff explaining how the menu works, providing feedback on the differing spiciness levels, and offering some recommendations. Holy cow! You can press grill your burrito!! Tell them to do it It's like chipotle just way better. Honestly though the burrito kinda crushed Chipotle and less costly and tighter wrap. Chipotle has become such a ripoff over the past 3 years to pump the stupid stock price. This place is SOOO Much cleaner and just better proteins Free tasty salsa bar It's nice that chipotle loses its dominance over the fast Mexican to actual real Mexican just as fast. Outstanding! We LOVE G&G and are so happy they found a "home" in Deerfield. Cole and Hugo were so very helpful and went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our meal. So very nice to be treated like family ----- better than family! We had a tiny issue with our Margarita which they quickly took care of and offered their apology. This place is so much better than Chipotle it's ridiculous - and in a chipotle fiend. When this place popped up next to my local Chipotle (which kinda sucks tbh) I was like no way they will ever last. But like that song says - now Im a believer. I'm in a real honeymoon phase with this place - people are actually nice and greet you when you walk in, Im not getting the bottom of the barrel scoops of meat and lettuce thats been sitting for hours. Rosi provided fantastic service. I've been two nights in a row before closing. My food was fresh and delicious both times. The place was extremely clean. The bathroom was well kept. The kitchen area, the steam table where they prep the food and the grill were clean. The margarita machine has no sloppy mess or spillage. Im extremely OCD when it comes to food prep. The staff greets you like its the beginning of their day and we come at about 10:23 pm and its the end of our workday. Im a long time customer of a different franchise directly across the street. I have to say this food is better quality. We had chicken bowls the first night and chicken and brisket bowls the next night. The gentleman the night before allowed us to taste the brisket. We committed to purchasing it the next day. The food is not well seasoned abd prepared because theyre nice, but it does help. You can taste the care in the preparation. I ordered the two taco meal with hard shell and mild seasoned beef and they were delicious. They season the shell with seasoning which makes it different than most but SO good. Picked up an order. One burrito was made wrong. Completely wrong. I get it mistakes happen. But when I called to get a credit the woman said what do you want me to do about it. I said I would like a credit. She hung up on me. I called back and the manager went on and on about how this burrito was in the wrong bag and then she hung up on me. I called and called to find out I was blocked on their phone. After a week of Emails and phone calls all I could get was a food credit. It was okay. Chicken lacked any real flavor. The burritos were kinda small for price. First time, cashier was great and friendly and nice. Second visit was an online pick up and when I went to the counter rather than the side app pick up spot they were dismissive rather than just grabbing my food. 3 stars because getting the free burrito was pretty simple. The service was phenomenal- especially Emilio. The gentleman took excellent care of five women who asked so very many questions but he never lost his smile and graciousness. The cashier intentionally didn't give me change that I was supposed to receive back. I accidentally gave the cashier $70, a $20 and a $50 instead of two $20s. I saw that the change was $34 dollars on the register but I got distracted and when he gave me $4 change and I thought I made the mistake. I realized something was off when I got home with the food and checked my wallet and sure enough the $50 bill I had wasn't there. The cashier took a chance to con me out of $30 and he got it. I will never go back to this restaurant with dishonest workers. I would give a zero rating if they let me. read more

Burrito was bland( I asked for spicy), fries were cold and soggy, and the restaurant had two customers( myself being one), and there was an incredible amount of noise among the workers, laughing and talking extremely loud, making my meal very unpleasant, in addition to several workers vacuuming and cleaning tables, ( within 2 feet of me), spraying cleaner on the tables, which had a horrible odor. We ordered take out for Cinco de Mayo. The burritos had a good flavor and the tortilla were delicious but the steak was tough. To the point where it was very difficult to chew. I think next time I will stick to the ground beef. read more

The unsweetened ice tea is a brand I am not familiar with, but that too, a delicious brew. This is a great addition to the area. First time trying this restaurant. I placed it through the app so it was an easy pick up. I loved the variety of options and there are so many customizable options. I like the mini size options as I was able to try a few different options like mini nachos with chicken, mini burrito bowl and some tacos. The meat was all flavorful; the shredded beef brisket was tasty! The chips, guacamole and queso were delicious too. It is priced very reasonable too.
