I can never justify going out of my way for only sweets... so when I found myself heading past this place coming home from an event I jumped at the opportunity to grab something! A small and unassuming strip mall spot with a lovely calming atmosphere. The front was under construction on this day, but they were thankfully open all the same. The girl at the counter was busy helping customers which was a perfect chance to peruse the options. Lots of range here, which I love. Little one bite treats, cookies and pastries, full cakes and slices too! I spotted an un-marked tray of cookies that looked nice, turns out they were soft ginger cookies with jam filling. Raspberry or apricot, and baked in different shapes so you know what's what. Clever... and delicious. The edges were definitely a bit dry but once I hit the jam it was perfect! I also grabbed a triple chocolate mini dome for later. That was quite good as well. Not too sweet, but velvety and flavorful. What's the next holiday I can use as an excuse to get a full cake? We are incredibly disappointed with our experience and feel obligated to warn anyone with food allergies. My husband has a severe tree nut allergy. Before booking, we explained this in detail and specifically told the bakery that **there could be absolutely no nuts or sesame in any of our cake.** We understood that cross-contact could not be guaranteed, and we explicitly agreed to that. What we did **not** agree to was nuts being intentionally included in any part of our order. We confirmed this requirement multiple times leading up to our wedding. On our wedding day, after arriving at the venue, the owner informed us that there had been a mistake: the decorator had accidentally used almond flour in the top tier of our wedding cake. This wasn't a case of cross-contact--it was a completely different ingredient than what we had ordered and explicitly discussed. She then told my husband to avoid anything containing vanilla because that was the tier with almond flour, while assuring us that the sheet cake was safe because it was supposed to be triple chocolate and chocolate raspberry. When the sheet cake was served, we discovered that half of it was actually white/vanilla cake--not what we had ordered or what we had just been told. At that point, we had no confidence that anything had been made correctly. When you're dealing with a serious food allergy, trust matters. After already being told that an ingredient we specifically prohibited had been mistakenly used, we could no longer trust that any of the cake was safe. As a result, **the bride and groom were unable to eat their own wedding cake.** What has made this even more disappointing is the response afterward. Rather than acknowledging that this was a significant mistake, the owner refused to offer any partial refund because my husband had said in the moment that he is "not allergic to almonds." This completely misses the point. She did not know the specifics of his allergy before making the mistake, nor should she have assumed that intentionally including any nut after being instructed not to was acceptable. People with severe food allergies are often advised to avoid all nuts because of the risk of reactions and cross-contamination. After discovering that our explicit instructions had already been ignored once--and after finding that the cake flavors didn't even match what we had been told--we simply could not trust the product enough for him to eat it. Mistakes can happen. What matters is how a business responds to them. Had the bakery accepted responsibility and worked with us toward a reasonable resolution, this review probably wouldn't exist. Instead, we've been met with defensiveness, denial about the sheet cake despite what was served, and a refusal to acknowledge that the real issue was the complete breakdown of trust around a serious food allergy. Your wedding cake is supposed to be one of the special moments of your wedding day. Ours became a source of stress, disappointment, and anxiety, and we never got to enjoy it. If your family has food allergies--or if you simply expect your baker to follow explicit dietary instructions and stand behind their mistakes--I cannot recommend this bakery. read more

I don't typically write negative reviews, but what happened at my daughter's wedding deserves to be shared. My daughter and son-in-law were very clear with the bakery from the beginning that my son-in-law has a severe tree nut allergy. They specifically requested that there be no nuts or sesame in any of the cake. They understood that cross-contact could not be guaranteed, but they confirmed multiple times that there should be no nuts intentionally used anywhere in their order. On the day of the wedding, after the cake had already been delivered, the owner informed them that her decorator had accidentally used almond flour in the top tier of the wedding cake. If the bakery had already admitted to making one major mistake involving a food allergy and the sheet cake wasn't even what they expected it to be, how could anyone reasonably trust that the rest of it was safe? My son-in-law wasn't willing to gamble with his health on his wedding day, and because of that, he and my daughter never got to enjoy their own wedding cake. That should have been one of the happiest moments of their day. Instead, it became a source of stress and disappointment. What makes this even harder to understand is the bakery's response afterward. Rather than taking responsibility or offering any meaningful resolution, the owner refused even a partial refund because my son-in-law mentioned that he is less allergic to almonds than other tree nuts. That completely ignores the issue. The bakery wasn't told, "Almonds are okay." They were told no nuts in any of the cake. That instruction wasn't followed. I have been getting cakes here for all my employees' birthdays for 3 years because they are delicious, fresh and not too sweet, but the service is getting worse and worse every time unfortunately. today I went to drink cappuccino with my husband, the girl counted dimes for cents and out of twenty-five cents we were given 80 cents in change, of course we threw this money at the tip, but it spoils the overall impression of a good place. we also waited a long time for one drink, because there were no clean mugs, there was no one else there at the time. so my conclusion is that the desserts are awesome, and the service needs improvement, I'm not sure if I'll come back here in the near future. read more

I wanted to let this go, but this was very bothersome that I had to express my disappointment at the customer service I received. I was there Sunday around 1pm and approached the counter. Two young ladies were at the register. One was holding papers, so I thought maybe she was reviewing orders. The other one didn't even look up. An older lady came in and they promptly helped her, then an older man came in, and the other girl helped him. At this point, I may as well have been invisible. Then a line of people started forming behind me. One of the workers finished up and started walking towards the line and literally, didn't even look at me and asked the lady behind me if she needed help. I couldn't believe it! I spoke up and said that I was here first. I hate to pull out the race card, but that's all I can come up with (I'm Asian). Hmm... my budget tracker tells me I've been here 3x in 2 weeks! Maybe not the best plan for my waistline, but I couldn't help it! Each day, there's 15ish mini pastries to choose from ranging from $1.79-$1.99. They're the perfect size to have a taste of everything. Fancy individual cakes and pastries are $5-6 and perfect for celebrating a Happy Every Day! Outside of this, there's various 6-8" case cakes, cookies including macarons, and a few bar options. Espresso drinks are also available, but they don't do it iced. Lately, I've enjoyed the mini blueberry lavender pastry, pistachio apricot pastry, and almond marzipan mini. The coconut chocolate individual cake was so appealing to the eyes, but most of the flavor of the sweet was a coconut mousse and lacking a bit in cake layer. My oldest toddler inhales their macarons, and usually she doesn't eat much unless you stuff it in her mouth. I ordered an 8" pistachio strawberry torte from here also. It's dome shaped and decorated with macarons on the outside. The girl at the front could've done a better job with a greeting upon my entrance, and when she couldn't hear what I said, she mumbled a careless "huh?" Also, considering I spent almost $50 on a cake, it would've been nice to receive a macaron that looked a little better, but the staling blueberry one I got was drastically mismatched as far as size of the top and bottom cookie. No wonder she gave that one to me... she grabbed it from the back, as the display case was still being set up, and I couldn't see what she had put into the box. Anyway, the decorating on the dome torte was creative and lovely! I was expecting way more ratio of almond cake layers to pistachio mousse, since the majority of your cake slice will end up being mousse. The strawberry compote layer in the middle and the crunch added inside the cake was a nice touch. Plan to be back at some point for sure! read more

We are fans of kievskiy cake so I really don't try any other European cakes because we already have our favorites as it is something we grew up on, but I tried this cake and it is absolutely made beautifully and the flavor is out of this world. It is least with raspberry flavor and has a very thin gelatin over the cake, but nothing overwhelming at all. Eliya is so thin that it just add something magical to the flavor and it is not too sweet like most American desserts. It is a perfect medley of sweet and flavorful! Beautiful European bakery with plentiful stocked cases. It is a feast for the eyes looking at all of the colorful cakes and desserts. As you walk in, the first case you see has medium sized cakes on the bottom with small versions for people to buy and eat right away. There are many different pastry items I had no idea what they were. Then to the left they have cookies and bars. I can't eat wheat so I am rating this based on my son. The first time we came he ordered a macaron and a chocolate croissant. He devoured them. We came back again and he ordered a special European cookie-like item. It was a large honey/gingerbread cookie-cake that had a glaze of icing on top and then a filling of either raspberry or apricot jam and then another cookie-cake on the bottom. My son again devoured it. We took a chocolate chip and nut cookie home for my husband who can eat wheat. Only downside is that there are employees who cannot speak English so they can't answer questions about the desserts. We will be back! read more

I found Lana's Dazzling Desserts from Yelp a few years ago, I ordered a Mango Mousse Cake for a family birthday party, it was a big hit, even my mom who is picky with cakes loved it! Lana's has become our favorite bakery since then! Their cakes are consistently good, both esthetically and taste wide. The decorations are elegant and beautiful, and the cakes are not extremely sweet. The ratio is more mousse and less cake, if you like mousse, their cakes are for you! Actually, if you go to their "Cakes and Tortes" menu on their website, just click on any cake picture, and it will show you a cut piece of that cake! So, you know exactly what are inside the cakes. Other than the Mango Mousse Cake, our other favorite is the Pistachio Strawberry Torte, which sometimes comes in sphere shape that is more fun looking. I also like the Triple Chocolate Cake which is very creamy and rich, and is definitely ideal for the chocolate-lovers! I used to order cakes for our special days, now as we are only having cakes for our immediate family during the Pandemic, I would just go there to pick one. There are so many good choices available that it is not hard to find one to purchase! For now, the 6" and 8" cakes at the store are $30 and $50 each respectively. I also love to buy their individual pastries for my mom when I go to visit her, and she just loves them! We ordered the cake for our daughter's two years old party. The cake was delicious, the only issue was the decoration on it. The top rim of the cake was uneven and rough. Seems like the cake was made in a hurry, even so it cost over $150. After posting my review, I received a phone call from the owner of the business with negative comments about my review. She had mentioned that people who write negative reviews just ruining the business. In my opinion, the review is for quality improvement of the business. I'm a working mom with three little kids and unfortunately I cannot stop by at the bakery and negotiate regarding the products. Moreover, because of my honest review, I was told that I missed my chance to receive any discounts. Even so I did not ask for it. Every single cake left an exciting burst of flavor on my palate. Lana is amazing!! She always takes the time to work with you when you are ordering a cake. She asks insightful questions about what you like in terms of flavors and what you want the cake to look like. She also makes great suggestions on how to best accomplish what you want. One major thing she does is be honest. She will NEVER say she can do something if she knows it won't work. She will explain why it won't work and how to make it better. She will also NEVER try to up-sell you and try to convince you to order more. In fact, when I placed my entire dessert table order for my wedding with her she even suggested I cut back and mentioned that since I'm getting a cake my guests won't eat as much and I should order less. She even asked me if I was sure I wanted the size cake that I asked for, she was worried it was too big and didn't want me to pay for more than what I would need. (On a personal note, there is never to much of Lana's cakes!!) When you walk in here, you are always greeted with friendly staff and the gorgeous desserts!! Looking at them is like looking at a masterpiece!!! And tasting them is like biting into heaven!! If you are looking for pastries or treats that will wow people this is the place to go!! The chocolate to raspberry ratio was pure perfection, So rich! So delicious! My husband had an apple cream cheese pastry. I don't normally mention what he had unless I had a bite. It was also very good. Not as good as mine though, as he couldn't keep out of it. The service was great.
