This place was a huge miss for me sadly. i had high expectations given all the media hype around this place and my love and constant obsession with dubai chocolate anything. space is huge and nice. i was really excited when i walked in... until i saw the menu board. they have similar items to melt n dip but the prices were all $2-3 higher than melt n dip which is already priced pretty high. food: -portion sizes are really small for the price -dubai cake.. the best part of the dubai style desserts is the crunchy katifi. it tastes stale and really unpleasant. the top chocolate part of the cake was really good though and made up for it -baklava.. fine. nothing crazy but for the size.. it should have been a bigger piece pros: i liked that they have self serve water available and service was ok sadly will not be back read more

Haven't been here before the remodel so this was a first attempt of trying to go here. It was ok tried pistachio gelato ice cream. Their pistachio latte didn't really taste much of the pistachio. Biscotti latte was ok, a bit too sweet for my liking but overall not so bad. read more

I read some of the negative reviews. Some I can see the service lacking. Others gave 1 star just because they failed to look up the hours and automatically assumed they'll open or remain open for their entitlement. Yeah, not how it works. You can't just go there and start pounding the doors in the morning, when they open in the late afternoon (week days). Or be one of those people that come close to closing time and assume the kitchen will remain open. Like any regular restaurant, the staff will start cleaning up close to the closing time and lock the doors. I believe 3.5-4 is a fair rating. It was busy on a Saturday night, so it took awhile for them to make our drinks. I took pictures with the timestamps so it took 14 mins. We finished our desserts way before that. The other thing is the case that has the fruit cakes, milk cakes, etc, it would be nice if they posted prices for all of them. So, the drinks were moderate for $6 each. The banana fruit cake was $10 and the mango was about $13-15 range. The banana really did taste like banana on the inside. The mango one had some real mango chunks inside, overall the taste could be stronger like the banana. Drinks were great. We got the lotus milkshake and passion fruit mocktail. The milkshake was a lot smoother and not as thick than most American style milkshakes. Service was very friendly. Prices were moderate to expensive. Honestly, the people complaining about how super expensive it is, they should not go in the first place if the place has luxury in the name. Been here more than a year ago and missed this shop when they shut for renovations. But I'm really glad they reopened. The revamped shop is stunning and they improved with space utilisation by adding more seating area. Coming to the desserts, they have the BEST knafa in Illinois. Period. However, it was bit extra sweet for me. I would like to suggest the management to give the sugar syrup on side like they used to before they shut for revamping. The new items like real fruit cake and other pistachio desserts were good. Also the mango real fruit cake is my new favourite and it melts in the mouth with perfect texture and sweetness. My husband and I came here on a Saturday evening and couldn't believe how slammed it was. There were SO many people there- Omgosh!! I didn't expect to see that many people at a dessert place at 11 pm at night but if you think about it, there's not many places like this in the Chicagoland area. In Europe, South America and Africa, cafes like these are very common because people love to drink coffee and dessert even if it is into the late hours of the night. People who don't drink alcohol and don't hookah but still want a social place to hang out find comfort and ease in such cafes. I love the hustle and bustle atmosphere so much- reminded me of being in Europe. Cleanliness: very clean place. They have a server who was going around and wiping down the tables as soon as someone would leave and bringing water to the table as needed. I also noticed that the server was picking up dishes and cleaning up the floor after people. There were little children there too and the server was so patient even as they made a mess. The bathrooms were clean as well- bonus point is always when there is enough toilet paper because lately some restaurants have really been slacking in this area! As you can see by the pictures, you could see how they prepare the sweets and sometimes people can leave their finger prints or some type of mark on the glass. I can say that even though there were hand marks while we waited, the server came by and cleaned them. I also observed him cleaning them again as we ate our sweets so I know that he is very detail orientated on cleanliness. Because you can see how your food is prepared, there really is no reason to have mistrust with how your food is prepared because you can see what they are preparing and the cleanliness of the area. Staff: More of the staff could use a smile or two. You will notice that this is a business run completely by men, I saw no women from the cashiers to the food preparation which is fine but man, they just looked so mad haha! I've taken a lot of cultural competency courses at work to understand that that's just how some cultures operate (which btw is okay, to each their own) and that some people just don't have that warm ambiance to them but that doesn't mean that their business isn't warm. The atmosphere created by the customers is what makes it warm and welcoming, you want to be there. The space itself and the art is kind and makes you happy to be there. The food: DELICIOUS! My husband and I were on the fence about what to try but then decided on thr kunefe which is house made. Kunefe can sometimes take some time to make but they had it ready for us to eat within ten minutes. I wasn't in the mood for coffee so I had tea with the kunefe. It was so good, drooling now thinking of it. It's a sweet dessert so the tea complimented it but I wish they had more choices of tea to choose from. They only had two and they weren't such great choices to begin with (green tea and earl tea). Anyways, it worked out. We will be back to try the rest of the menu because there is SO much to choose from! I highly recommend this place, perfect for a late night snack or an outing.
