About a 2-2.5: Straw & Bubbles Tea Bar is an intimate space that offers various milk/fruit/matcha/blended teas and drinks, croffles, and even instant ramen options. We stopped by after having lunch in the area, and we ordered: +the Strawberry Cream Cheese croffle - topped with strawberry-flavored cream cheese and freeze-dried strawberries (the description actually state they were fresh strawberry slices, so this would need to be updated) +a Strawberry Matcha Latte +Orange Jasmine Yakult +and, a Pineapple Creamy The croffle itself was okay; it was slightly chewy and may have been stale; wished it would have been served hot. The drinks could have been steeped longer and prepared better, as they were watered down. The place is cute, and there's limited seating inside. There seems to be consistent to-go/pick-up orders. Limited street parking is available. +watered down drinks +slightly stale croffles +instant ramen options +limited seating

We went to Straw and Bubbles Tea Bar for the second time and we liked it. I will admit it is a tad pricy for boba but for convenience it is worth it for us. We got: Ramen: 9/10 I got to try a new ramen that I normally do not get. I added an egg and radish ($1 each for toppings) the ramen I picked is the Jin seafood version. The noodles are nice and chewy with a good amount of spicy. It also has dried crab bits added! Boba: 10/10 we got some strawberry boba and it was delicious. The tapioca here is always perfectly cooked with good chew to it. The owner/shop worker is very nice! She gave us two waffles on the house. The ambiance is a really cute shop perfect for dates or boba chats. We would for sure be stopping by again for late night boba cravings.

At how many other places can you... Order bubble tea and enjoy a bowl of ramen at the same time? New instant ramen pot cooker thingies (technical term) are available to use, and S&B has evolved to having a whole wall of ramen selections. Easily place your order on a kiosk? Enjoy RAINBOW popping boba? (Kids' #1 fave) S&B's pricing is at a premium to other local options, in line with its prime Glenview Rd real estate.

Really cute shop! Loved that they have kiosks to order efficiently. I thought the ramen wall was super cool, you get to see all of the variety of packaged ramens to pick from. I ordered the milk tiger sugar with tapioca and it was so good. It was super tasty and the flavors blended so well together. The tapioca balls also were the perfect texture and not frozen. Prices are reasonable and staff was friendly and quick!

The cafe is small Local Bubble tea shop but has extensive bubble tea options. The drinks are delicious and service was quick and kind. They even have Korean ramen bar so you can come in for a quick snack as well. They have small tables with some seats if you want to hang out with friends. Definitely recommended stop near the Glenview train station and the library

Very cute little boba shop! You order on a kiosk so don't really have to deal with anyone and the boba is very good. The pearls weren't too chewy and the brown sugar boba mot too sweet. The ambiance is adorable and will definitely be a new neighborhood fave!

Ordered a mango cream ice upon my kid's request, and it was really good. I'd come back again to get this. I'm not usually all for drinks with whipped cream and the like in it (I usually ask for my coffees without whipped cream on top), it it was a good blend of the mango and cream that made for an interesting drink. We also got a croffle with Nutella and biscotti on top. I really enjoyed that as well. It was on the smaller side, but the perfect size for us, and came with a good price tag too. One of our friends got a milk tea, and she said it was gritty (maybe unmelted powder??) so I wasn't too hopefully about the milk teas, but may try it next time.

Let's start with prices. Prices are fair. The ones complaining that it's overly expensive, obviously don't know anything about the current economy. If you have common sense, you'll know that the price of everything has gone up - look at groceries and gas. Now, use that brain and look at the cost of eating out and buying boba teas. With that said, i ordered a strawberry matcha latte. It was very tasty, not too sweet. Remember people, if someone says everything is too sweet they probably didn't try out the whole menu. The croissants were delicious. I tried out mango and blueberry cream. They had just the right balance of flavor. Not sweet. Free street parking. They open later than some of the other boba places. Staff was nice, friendly, and attentive. Definitely not rude. I would disregard the 1-2 star reviews. They evidently don't know anything. If you work and can't afford a boba drink, then might as well stay home.

Such a cute shop! My brother and I stopped by to grab some drinks and croffles. The croffles and drinks were so good! I'll definitely have to come back again :-)

Come for the croffles, stay for the tea This bright and cozy bubble tea place cast a welcoming neon glow as we navigated through the dreary downpour today. The two kiosks are easy to navigate and place your order. A handwritten note explained that espresso was not available today. We had a hard time deciding on which croffles to order but we settled on Salted Caramel & Butter and Matcha Cream. The Croffles are about four-bites size, crispy and light, with delicious toppings. I loved the Salted Caramel & Butter (three cubes of salted butter on top) and my friend enjoyed their Matcha croffle. There are lots of drinks to choose from and they offer regular boba, crystal boba, coffee jelly and other toppings. I went with the Strawberry Dolce Latte and my friend ordered a Milk Taro Tea. Mine had a pronounced strawberry taste with real strawberry purée, not too sweet, and nice chewy boba. My friend thought the Taro taste was good. Overall a super pleasant shop, no seating, but bright and clean with street parking.

We randomly came across this boba tea spot today and it was great! I had never had a croissant waffle and they were delicious! My husband called it life changing. I had the peach oolong boba tea and it was really good and the person working there was super kind. I will definitely be back!

This is a very cozy and quaint place. They have 2 kiosks where you can place your order. I got the triple berry matcha latte with oat milk and the salted caramel & butter croffle. This if my first time having a croffle and it was pretty good though smaller than I expected. The matcha latte was not bad either. There is limited seating but my friend and I came during less busy hours so we were able to sit and chat. This place is more of a grab and go. A large group of people came in to place their orders and we made our way out to avoid the crowd. I'd like to come back another time and try their other flavors.

This is a cute tea bar in downtown Glenview. When you walk in, there are kiosks where you place your order. We had a longer wait for our order because there was only one woman working when we visited (her helper didn't arrive until later), but it was worth it. It's nice inside, but fyi there is minimal seating. There are benches outside the shop as well. It was a sunny day when we visited so we sat outside. The teas and croffles were delicious! This was my first time having a croffle, and I was in love. The tapioca is prepared so well - perfectly sweet, chewy, and bouncy. I will definitely be going back!

I have been excited about the addition of Bean Bar to our neighborhood in downtown Northbrook for a…read morewhile.  We finally had a chance to visit together before we went to the Art in the Park the Saturday of the Mother's Day weekend!  It totally justified all the hype! Given it was a Saturday, there was an annual art fair in the Village Green close by, and the Mother's Day weekend, we expected it to be very busy, and it was justifiable so.  There was a rather long line placing orders at the cashier, but it moved quickly.  There were many laminated menus for us to read while waiting in line.  The cashier was friendly, patient, and helpful in answering questions.  Our daughter ordered an Avocado Toast and a Berry Zen Refresher.  My husband and I found that a good idea, and each of us also ordered an Avocado Toast, although I had hoped that I got different types of dishes to photograph, lol.  Husband had a Cappuccino, and I had a large Iced Pistachio Latte (oat milk).  This simple brunch came up to $77.34 with tip, and it's worth it. All 3 Avocado Toasts were perfectly made.  All the ingredients were very fresh, although there wasn't a lot of seasoning, the taste of each ingredient worked well together to achieve a delicious dish.  I especially liked the over easy egg and the crispy edges of the warm toast.  My Iced Pistachio Latte was very good without being too sweet. Although the food and drinks were the star, the ambiance was so pleasing and relaxed that totally elevated the entire experience.  The dining room with high ceiling and chandeliers was spacious and beautiful.  There were many different types of seating for patrons -- big comfy couches, regular tables, high-tops, small booths, conference rooms with long table and chairs, small private rooms... not to mention about the large sheltered patio with many tables and seats!  As I have mentioned, we went at a busy time, there were not a lot of tables left for dining purposes, we opted for a high-top.  Even though the venue was almost filled to capacity, it still felt very airy and comfortable.  I could just chill there happily for half a day with my latte! However, there were small hiccups that fortunately did not ruin our first experience there.  My husband's and daughter's drink came out almost instantly after we sat down, but I had to chase down a staff (there's no servers except for the staff who delivered the dishes or cleaned tables) to tell him that my drink was missing.  I told him that it's supposed to be cold but with no ice.  He immediately got me a Pistachio Latte but with ice.  The cashier lady had specified no ice on when she placed the order for me, I talked to her about this and she offered to make me a new one, but I had already had a sip and didn't want to put the drink to waste, so I just kept it.  I later scooped out all the ice so that it did not dilute my drink, and it was good.  I must mention that the food came out in just 5 minutes even though the place was busy. Our high-top table wobbled when we used our knives and forks to cut the toasts, not a very big deal, but the restaurant could easily have that fixed as I am pointing it out now, It's one of the high-tops under the BB sign. This brunch kicked off a very happy Mother's Day weekend.  I was in a very good mood going to the art fair from Bean Bar.  We will definitely return to try the many other items on their menu.

As employees were already putting away the bread, I politely asked if I could grab a piece before everything was picked up. I was told that the bread was being moved to the front and that someone would assist me there. While I waited, two other groups entered after me. They heard the same information and ended up being helped before I was, despite the employees knowing that I had been waiting first. I politely asked twice for assistance and was told to continue waiting while the other groups were served. What made the situation more frustrating was that the customers ahead of me were taking a long time deciding what they wanted. I had already put on a plastic glove and was prepared to select my own bread, but I was told that wasn't necessary because an employee would help me. While waiting, I witnessed one of the teenagers from a group point directly at the bread, and another teenager pushed their hand into it. This happened in front of the employees, and no one addressed the situation or reminded them not to touch the food. As someone who was trying to follow proper sanitation practices, I found this very concerning. Not only did this happened once but 2,3 times infront of them. Yet nothing was addressed. After being ignored, waiting while others were served ahead of me, and seeing unsanitary behavior go unaddressed, I decided to leave without making a purchase. I was disappointed by both the customer service and the lack of attention to food handling standards.

Lots of customers either working or socializing with their group of friends. Decor was nice and modern. Service and Ambiance Grade: A+ I ordered a cortado, Anytime Toast, and a Gigantic Pretzel. The Cortado was nice and strong. They did not skimp in any way and came in a double shot glass. (Cortados generally come in that size.) Grade: B+ The Anytime Toast comes on a whole grain toast with Avocado, Bacon, Tomato, Egg (I requested fried), Giardinera, and a slice of green apple. Very tasty I must say! It normally comes either salted or cinnamon sugared, but I opted for just butter. You also have the option of choosing 3 out of 5 dips...beer cheese, yellow mustard, dijon mustard, chocolate, and/or sweet cream. I chose cheese, yellow mustard, and my favorite was the sweet cream! The place was definitely happening and a lot of people coming through both to eat there take things to go as well as some really quick pickups of cars, stopping with passengers, dropping out and picking things up and hopping back in the car. Parking looked good because the surrounding buildings and other businesses were still closed at nine or 10 in the morning so I think the parking was pretty open and available The inside is very bright and clean. Every single person was working here that Saturday morning could not have been older than 21. And even despite their young age, they were all super nice and very friendly and helpful. Not a single one of them were on their cell phones, distracted or doing something else. What's cute about the places that yes you do order at the counter and you get a sign with a real street name from Glenview as your identifier for your food to be delivered to your table. They also clean up your table when you're done so you don't actually have to bring anything anywhere. Now for this type of counter service, I typically don't tip, but I did simply because our cashier who had rung up our order again was very young, but super attentive, very friendly very helpful as well, including her recommendations. I don't typically expect this type of service from someone this young, especially in a busy happening restaurant. I definitely need to come back here again. I need to try more of their menu. Only reason I'm giving them four stars is that while the inside is very nicely decorated it is tight and when there are a lot of people there are chairs being bumped and people bumping into everyone everywhere and I don't like that also on this hot summer day they keep all the doors open, which completely defeats the purpose of sitting inside for the sake of the air-conditioning so close the doors so people who want to sit inside and get nice and cool

But after a few visits, it's just not for me…read more The first trip, I tried the Matari Tea: Green tea, Himalayan pink salt, milk, and spices, topped with roasted pistachios. Sounds good, right? Alas, it could not have been blander. I couldn't taste any "spices" or even the hint of salt. The profile was that of very watered-down tea mixed with milk, and a ton of pistachios floating on top. Like, barely crushed pistachios. Huge pieces, covering the top of the drink, bobbed around like tiny icebergs, and even they somehow had a toned-down flavor. The drink was definitely a swing and a miss. Fast forward two weeks, and I tried Matari again. This time with a simple cortado. I sat at the table right by the door, and the espresso was pretty good. Solid body, not too bitter. It was on the pricy side ($7+), but I was ok with that. But then, I'm hanging out, sipping my coffee, and I catch a burst of perfume-like scent. I'm shocked, but whatever, I figured someone in heavy perfume walked by, no big deal. A few minutes later, wham, I'm hit in the nose with another burst of perfume. Then, I see it. A slight haze around me. So, not a heavily perfumed woman after all, but an automated air-freshener. After further inspection, I see the unit plugged in on the ground right behind my chair, which sprays up and out on a timer. That's right, an air freshener right next to a table where people consume food and beverages, shooting a mist into the air that slowly rains down onto my head and table, and into my coffee. I ended up tossing the last few sips of my cortado, as I could taste the scented whatever-it-was in my cup. I'd have gone to the counter and asked for a new one, but I was so over my visit by then, I just opted to get out. The staff aren't very friendly. Not rude, but they don't give off a welcoming aura, and I didn't feel like trying to explain the issue. Lastly, can we talk about their little "your order is up" beepers? We've all seen them. The little electronic things that blink and make a noise when your order is ready, so you can go snag it from the counter. When I think of a coffee shop, I think quiet and peaceful, or perhaps a bit louder, with bustling people and well-paired music. At Matari, it's an insane BEEP BEEP BEEP that goes off every few minutes when an order is up. I get it, you don't want to bring the food out to your customers. But does it really need to feel like an airport Chili's? It's a bummer, because Matari is beautiful inside. It's clean, it's chic, and its location is at a notable crossroads in Skokie with plenty of parking, leaving it extremely convenient. They've even got an easy-to-use website, which so many coffee shops simply do not have. There aren't a lot of coffee shops in this particular part of town, which is why I so, so very much wanted to love Matari. But subpar drinks? Air freshener spray intrusions? Frequent and obnoxious beeping? I tried. I'm sorry. I just can't.
