We recently stepped into the newly updated UYUHAUS ice cream and bubble tea shop and had the opportunity to bring the whole family to try a little bit of everything--where do I even begin? This place was such an experience from start to finish. One of our favorite surprises was the self-serve ramen bar. It was quick, easy, and so much fun! They had a great variety of ramen options, making it easy for everyone to pick exactly what they wanted. We also couldn't resist trying the affogato, which was the perfect little treat. For dessert, we tried both the Misugaru Bingsoo and the Strawberry Ube Bingsoo. I absolutely loved that you can customize your bingsoo with any of their homemade ice cream flavors, and you can even choose between a cup or a bowl. The bingsoo is made with incredibly creamy shaved milk ice, topped with generous scoops of their homemade ice cream and delicious toppings. It was light, fluffy, creamy, and so refreshing. And the ube croffle...I'm still dreaming about it! It was soft, buttery, and crispy all at the same time. It reminded me of a funnel cake topped with ice cream--but somehow even better. It came with the biggest scoop of ice cream, and one thing we noticed throughout our visit was how generous every scoop was. The Asian-inspired ice cream flavors are unlike anything we've had before. Every flavor we tried was rich, creamy, and left us wanting another bite. Our kids absolutely devoured the Oreo ice cream and kept asking for more. This was the perfect family outing. There truly is something for everyone here, whether you're craving ramen, bubble tea, bingsoo, croffles, affogato, or unique homemade ice cream. Next time, I can't wait to try their bubble tea and bring home a few pints of ice cream to enjoy later. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming, especially to our kids, which made the whole experience even more memorable. We felt so comfortable from the moment we walked in. First impression? Cute, colorful, and lively! The bright colors of the shop instantly give you those good-vibes-only feelings. It's a fun spot for boba, ramen, and a little sweet treat! We ordered the Matcha Brown Sugar Latte and Mango Bingsoo topped with Alphonso mango ice cream. The Brown Sugar Matcha Latte was really good, especially if you're someone who loves a strong matcha flavor. The matcha definitely comes through, which I appreciate! The boba, though, was a little disappointing for me. The pearls were on the tougher side and almost tasted like they weren't fully cooked. Next up, the Mango Bingsoo. I liked the texture of the vanilla shaved ice--it was light, soft, and melted nicely. The toppings included fresh mango, mochi bites, and corn flakes, plus that Alphonso mango ice cream on top. While it was good overall, I was hoping for a much stronger mango flavor. With "mango" being the star of the dessert, I wanted that fruity flavor to really stand out. read more

Straw & Bubbles Tea Bar is for sure my daughter's go to when she has a taste for boba/bubble tea or ramen. She has been there with friends as well as myself multiple times. (I wish they had a loyalty program or punch card of sorts for her because of her affinity to the store!) Last night, she had a taste for bubble tea so we took her after dinner and we had some pleasant surprises in our drink choices! My boyfriend got the Cookies and Cream milkshake with oat milk ('cause dairy) and it was thick, delicious, and had a strong ratio of milk to cookie in it. Last time my parents took my daughter, I tried a Coconut Purple Berry tea and added tapioca. It is tea, coconut milk, and like, chunks of guava--delicious. I can tell you my daughter's go to is a Taro Milkshake which is milk and taro blended--very delicious! The presentation is appealing--it looks like white clouds in a purple sky. Other drinks I have tried include their galaxy lemon tea, a sort of ocean lemonade (?), etc. My daughter also lives for their croffles--I know she has had matcha, tiramisu, plain, etc. Last night's choice was matcha and there was not a crumb left in the box. Ordering is easy on the kiosk, and the staff is quiet, but friendly. I have been there with different sized groups at different times of day, and the food, drinks, and service are always consistent. Sometimes it's packed, sometimes it's not. Driving back home, I wanted to yell at all the youths in that green siren logoed coffee shop to drink something better across the parking lot, but I did not. Straw and Bubbles is a nice gem in Downtown MP. The Taro Milk tea here was really good, and they have a nice cozy sitting area where you can even make your own ramen! They have ALOT to choose from with bowls on the spot so you can enjoy there. You order through the Kiosk so it makes it easy to look at all the sweats and drinks they have. We are frequently in the area and so stop in often. The lady running the shop is so nice. I usually order the strawberry matcha or the coconut purple berry, depending on whether I want something milky or fruity. The croffles on offer are also tasty. I'm partial to the plain croffles - buttery and lightly sweet. On our most recent visit, we noticed a new addition to the menu (and the wall) - an assortment of instant ramen noodles. There is also a hot water station, so you can make what you buy on site. I recently noticed another storefront coming to Mount Prospect (by Algonquin and Busse) called Ramen Library, and I have a feeling this is how it might be there, too. So maybe a sneak peek in a way. We visited on a rainy afternoon and was met with a very sunny and welcoming interior! Yellow and white are the main colors and boy do they pop! We ordered at the kiosks which were modern and user friendly. A great variety of drink options and customizations. Two drinks and 2 donuts was $20 which is more then we usually like to spend on a coffee date, however the quality was fantastic. Drinks both had great presentation and flavor. Sometimes these drinks don't look as pictured but these were so visually pleasing! The strawberry donut was just OK to us. Ours was a little stale. The mango one though.....so fresh and tasty! Got this for delivery via Uber Eats for the first time. The matcha rose milk tea was really good but a bit overpriced at $7 for the amount (22 oz). Thai is the menu price not Uber Eats price that I'm referring to. The reason I ordered from here was that the Croffle sounded very intriguing. It's a crossover of a croissant and waffle but I like this so much bette Ethan either a croissant or waffle. It's not as dense and filling as a waffle and not as greasy and buttery as a croissant. It's very flaky, which is the best part of a croissant and fluffy and thick which is why I like the waffles and they can hold onto the flavor in the square pockets. I got 2 boxes of 3 croffle flavors including: the matcha cream, dark choco and cream, salted caramel and butter, strawberry cream, choco pretzel, and mango cream. My favorite was the mango cream because the fresh mango was a perfect balance of fresh and sweet followed by the dark choco cream. They are actually not that sugary as you'd imagine from looking at them. The cream is fluffy and delicious and on the sour/sweet side vs super sugary. The only thing I did not like was the cold brew. It's way too watered down and they have no options for milk. At $5 I expected it to taste better and be bigger. Overall, I'll be back for the croffles but will likely skip the drinks as I can get better for the price elsewhere. The croffles are very unique and worth every penny. I hope they come out with even more flavors to try! read more

A new place in downtown Mount Prospect. They opened about one month ago. It is very modern, almost stark inside and there are kiosks to order. I am not a fan of the kiosk ordering, but it was easy. The place is not very welcoming, it does not have much personality. On a weeknight I was the only customer !. There needs to be better promotion and signage. I tried a brown sugar boba, and was able to customize the sugar and ice levels. My drink was prepared very quickly and was good. The server was nice. Nothing stood out from my experience . My granddaughter found this place and suggested a mini spring break trip for the "make your own" ramen. It's a cute little restaurant with a huge drink menu and a wall of ramen packets. Since it was our first time, the owner was very helpful showing us how to order and how the ramen works. The ramen variety is unlike anything I've ever seen, and you can add things to it like kimchi, dumplings, cheese etc. It takes a few minutes to cook on a little machine they have and then you get a nice big hot bowl of delicious! Love this place! My boyfriend and I come all the time and we can't stop. Matcha is always spot on, and the lavender latte is the perfect amount of everything. These drinks are addicting!
