Summer specials, circa Aug 2025.
Howard L.

This place is amazingly as well as deservedly very popular! We returned with the kiddos for a breakfast outing on their next to last summer vacation day before school commences. There were a few other families with kids but the vibrant and busy place was totally filled with other patrons on a Tuesday at 9am. Anyway, the grand-darlings both enjoyed the kids' Breakfast of Champions which includes a drink (orange-strawberry juice) for $13. Wife had their Farmer's Market Benedict for $16 and I had their traditional breakfast (two eggs over easy, bacon, and Harbor potatoes) for $15.50. The food came out pretty quickly and was tip-top fresh and delicious. Our server was Mariela G who was friendly and also busy but still attentive. I liked that you can now scan a QR code and easily pay your bill at the table. This Egg Harbor Café has always and continues to impress! Big thumbs up!

Came here for the first time on a Sunday morning. No wait when we got there but a long line when we left. My skillet was amazing! I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Average breakfast food for above average prices. $25 after tip. Rating 6/10 Pros: Modern interior, nice staff. Cons: Boring "special", over priced.

Cherrywood Avocado Toast with fried eggs (over easy) and fruit

My husband and I discovered Egg Harbor Cafe after an early morning appointment about an hour from home. We decided we deserved a breakfast after enduring the morning traffic. I didn't leave a review the first time, but it was excellent. Because I kept dreaming about the cherrywood avocado toast (I'm not an avocado toast girl), we tried the Barrington location as well. Both locations were excellent!!! After going to a second appointment with my daughters today, I decided to treat them (okay, myself) to breakfast again. I had to have the avocado toast again. The sweet flavor of the balsamic vinegar reduction combined with the salt of the goat cheese and the creaminess of the avocado combined with the crisp bacon is perfection. I'm am all about contrasting textures and flavors, so I love this dish. My daughter had the San Antonio skillet and said it was better than similar skillets from other restaurants. My other daughter had the Swedish pancakes (thin pancakes like crepes), and they were delicious as well. Despite the delicious food, the best part was our server (who happened to be the same server my husband and I had). Her name is Betty, and she was the sweetest, most attentive server I have ever had!!!

Reserve your spot ahead of time as wait times can be 20-40 minutes on the weekends. Staff was super nice and service was quick. I didn't love everything we ate and I think Ellie's is better. The honeybee latte was a hit. I had Joe's Healthy Scrambler and I thought it was bland overall. My English muffin got soggy because there was some liquid from the eggs/cheese. Loved the signature jam though! I asked for extra honey and added that to my iced mocha. That was delish! Otherwise, the mocha isn't sweet. They have an extensive menu. No corned beef hash to my surprise.

Californai tuna melt

Seven years later, and that tuna melt is still my go to favorite! Some things never change! Some things do... at some point over the years, EH changed the avocado on the sandwich to a guac spread, which was very underwhelming and not nearly as good as the actual avocado slices. Since then, I've made it a point to clarify and ask for actual avocado every time I order. The tuna melt is about $15 now and comes with a side salad with the signature poppyseed dressing and side of cubed potatoes with green onion. Love that green onion touch! Plenty to choose from on the menu, like skillets, waffles, French toast, sandwiches, and salads, with an extensive kids' menu too. More unique offerings like a chorizo burrito and shakshuka are options too. This location recently got its floors redone (looks nice!) and has added an espresso machine at the front and really plus'd up on their specialty drink menu. Think s'mores lattes, brown sugar lattes, apple macchiatos, and frozen Frappuccino-like drinks. Mimosas, sangria, and bloody Mary's are also available. Pro tip: during your birthday month, you'll get a $10 off voucher if you're part of the loyalty program.

Service was good, not great, waiter could've been more attentive. Food was tasty, coffee was not! Lots of options on the menu. I would return.

Matt's Meat Skillet

While visiting Chicago I didn't care to have breakfast in the hotel. Busy on a Saturday morning as you would expect. Cute little place with a good menu. Service was pleasant and quick. They leave a thermos of coffee which is a nice touch. Meat skillet was good but would have been better if the eggs weren't overcooked. I ordered over easy but they were medium to hard. Skillet was jam packed with ham sausage and bacon. English muffin was well toasted as requested. All in all a good spot.

Great food and service! Everything was delicious, especially the San Antonio skillet and banana French toast. The wait times can be somewhat long, but it is definitely worth it!

I really loved the service especially capuccino made by Andrew. Really good job-reminded me of Europian trips Thanks, Andi

Eggceptional Combo with Banana Bread

Favorite breakfast spot? Egg Harbor! This location marks the 4th Egg Harbor I've visited and without a doubt the taste, quality, and service is consistent all throughout. I stopped in during a commute and it's conveniently located across the Metra station. It is easily accessible for commuters but also has available parking if needed. There is seating inside and outdoors and has a family and cozy feels like all of their locations. This is a great spot to drop by for a quick bite or to catch up with friends over a delicious meal!

Cream of Chicken with Wild Rice Soup (half of salad and soup combo)

Egg Harbor Cafe' was as good as I remembered it to be. I have not been here for several years but I used to come here with my kids when they were smaller. We all loved this breakfast place. My son even won a coloring contest and was awarded a dine-in gift card. After our dentist visit, my son and I came here on a Saturday around 11:30 am. We waited for about 20 minutes to be seated. The service was outstanding. From the hostess, and especially from our server as well. The coffee was hot and delicious. My son ordered the CINNAMON SWIRL PANCAKES, which was phenomenal. He had a side of bacon and over easy eggs. Everything was cooked just the way we wanted them to be. I had the half-DOOR COUNTRY CHICKEN SALAD and half of the CREAM OF CHICKEN W/WILD RICE SOUP (from the lunch combo). Both dishes were perfect. The salad was so fresh and tasty. The soup was warm and very satisfying. The place was clean, parking was easy, service was efficient and friendly, and the food was great. I will be back for sure.

No more grits? That's a two star deduction. Coffee is still good. Service still friendly. But this "no grits" thing...no bueño.

I had the QuesoBirria Burger (8 0z. patty topped with slow-cooked tender Birria beef, with pickled onions and caramelized Queso. It came with Birria broth for dipping. It was MOUTHWATERINGLY delicious, tender, and flavorful, absolutely dripping with juiciness. I love the cilantro flavor that popped through, and how the pickled onions contrasted with the savory beef. My husband had their signature Spicy Gangster burger with aged white Vermont cheddar, fresh jalapeños, and spicy sauce. He loved it! The gentleman who took our orders was courteous and professional. Owner was friendly but sounded rushed when we were ordering. Definitely had to order quickly. The Spicy Gangster Burger had a serious punch of heat in the best way possible. The burger patty was super flavorful with a nice crisp on the outside while still staying juicy inside. The chicken tacos were delicious with a little kick to them -- my 14-year-old absolutely inhaled them. The carne asada fries were also really good and easily shareable. The steak was flavorful, tender, and loaded on top. Overall, everything we tried was packed with flavor and worth coming back for!

I might say this is a hidden gem in Glenview!…read more Fire Thyme Kitchen holds the space that used to be Pizano's pizza. It's quite spacious and still has the logistical lay out to handle a high volume of carry out orders (separate section of the restaurant that was established for pizza carry out before). There's two separate dining areas, one where they seat families with younger kids and another for diners without kids, if you want more of a dimmer, bar type vibe. A small area adjacent to the family seating area has a couple claw machines and arcade games... to which one daughter quickly "donated" $2 to the gaming cause and the other daughter decided to pocket the $2 I gave her. The spiced pear martini was a very elevated cocktail that packed a punch and was full of cinnamon and pear flavor. It was way better than I expected and worth the $16! My kiddos enjoyed the mai tai mocktail they split, and it came out in plastic cups with straws, so good for the end users! I tried the chipotle taco salad, which was a hefty $25, but also lasted me 2-3 servings. It had steak, cheese, roasted red bell peppers, and tortilla strips in it. I forgot to ask for dressing on the side, but was pleased that it wasn't overly dressed. Husband enjoyed his comforting pappardelle bolognese ($35), which is served with toasted ciabatta spears and butter. Kids' cheese pizzas were $12 each, and the croissant crust really is flaky and buttery. They did comment that it was a little spicy though; I'm guessing it's from the tomato sauce used. Service was friendly, and our after tax, pre-tip total was $128.
