Tried Culinary Gangster and definitely adding it into our regular rotation! Small spot with only about 4 tables, but the food absolutely delivers. Owner was friendly but sounded rushed when we were ordering. Definitely had to order quickly. The Spicy Gangster Burger had a serious punch of heat in the best way possible. The burger patty was super flavorful with a nice crisp on the outside while still staying juicy inside. The chicken tacos were delicious with a little kick to them -- my 14-year-old absolutely inhaled them. The carne asada fries were also really good and easily shareable. What magic is this?! That was my first thought when I took a bite of the Juicy Lucy burger. Between the tears as I took each bite, I could taste every component of the burger, the well seasoned, caramelized meat, the cheese oozing out of the middle of the burger, the grilled brioche bun. This was absolute perfection made by a gifted chef. The chef and owner told me how he started out of a food truck and two years ago moved into the hidden, unobtrusive spot is now inhabits. The ambience is bare bones. Metal tables with metal chairs and having a rough time keeping it warm. But it isn't about the ambience. This place is gangster in that way. They just make a tear-jerking burger and perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries. It currently holds my top spot for North Shore burgers. Think they focus mainly on take out but the dine experience was pretty quiet and good for a quick bite. Our family of 3 went there for lunch about a week ago. We didn't realize there was technically no dine-in available even though there were 3 tables with chairs. The staff said there's no dine-in because there is no bathroom. Despite that, we were allowed to eat-in. Our food was brought out quickly and everything was delicious! Heard about this place awhile back and was finally in a position to stop in and check it out. It's fast food - but intended to be higher quality. After perusing their menu, I decided to get a "Juicy Lucy". Having had one in MSP at one of the original Juicy Lucy spots not all that long ago, I felt like I had a point of comparison. I ate at the place - it's really more of a carryout spot, but they do have limited seating. The burger was served in one of those cardboard rectangular serving "bowls". I opted to "make it a meal" which added $4 to the $13 burger tab; $17 plus tax total. The burger was exactly as it should have been - juicy, cooked medium rare as I ordered. I was truly satisfied with it, But the fries were mediocre at best... I was thinking they'd have some fresh cut homemade ones, but these were crinkle cut and many of them were kind of greasy. When the word "culinary" is part of the name of the restaurant AND it's a fast food type place, one should expect really good quality. The burger exceeded expectations in that regard; the fries fell short. I'll be back - glad I tried it. read more

I placed a delivery order from Culinary Gangster. This was my first order as I live a couple blocks away. I have to admit that this is partially my fault. So I will take a little blame. I ordered the American burger and fries. I did not look on the menu what condiments were included. I just assumed that a regular burger would come with onions, pickles and a tomato. It only arrived with cheese and ketchup. When ordering online, it does not give an option to add these items. What a disappointment to get a burger without the extras.
