Can I just say that I love this place for a quick dine in or pick up meal? So many options (tortas, burritos, salads, enchiladas, tacos, and more) and fresh every time! Lately I've been getting a shrimp taco or a taco salad, and it's hit the spot. When you dine in, you receive a complimentary basket of chips and salsa. Ordered takeout tonight from Taco Maya and I really enjoyed it. It was packaged up very nicely with the grilled chicken tacos in one box and the rice & refried beans in another. I ordered the taco dinner with avocado salsa and salsa verde. The ingredients were fresh and I liked the way they put the refried beans into a small container made of a tortilla chip. I love Taco Maya! These are my favorite tacos hands down. They've got some of the most unique and delicious combinations and they execute them perfectly every time. The complementary chips are some of the best you can get and with the salsa bar you could fill up on those alone. This time I had the Cajun shrimp, chingon, and the Korean beef. They were all fantastic! I always get a shrimp option when I come, they do shrimp tacos much better than other local spots. Always fresh and juicy, I'm never disappointed. The price point... was always reasonable. However, they now have some tacos over 5 bucks which is just too much. I get it, everything is more expensive but I just struggle with a single taco costing that much, even if it's fancy. I love this place. I love that their Horchata is refillable. I love their shrimp tacos and cant get enough of it. Shrimp is grilled instead of fried which i like. Another family favorite. This time I remembered to take at least some pics. After you order they will give you complimentary chips & salsa for the table. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is the complimentary salsa bar, featuring 5-6 salsa options ranging in heat levels, along with limes, and pickled jalapeños and vegetables. My daughter particularly enjoys the Masala fries with ketchup for that sweet and spicy taste. I have enjoyed every taco I've tried so far, but this time I tried the chicken Tikka and Nashville hot tacos. I especially enjoyed the Mexican fried this time. So it's been 6 years since I've been coming to Taco Madre/Maya and I'm never disappointed anytime I come. Not only do they have great food options on the regular menu but they rotate their specials in case you want to be adventurous. From the filet mignon taco to the mahi mahi taco, there's always a surprise waiting for you. They also have an amazing assortment of other dishes outside tacos like burritos, tortas, etc. They also serve alcohol, mostly beer, so you can be refreshed after you down those tacos. The service is great. The workers are all part owners so they have a vested interest in the company doing well. The vibe is pretty standard but at times they spice it up especially for Mexican holidays. Lastly, if you notice a variety of Indian inspired dishes, it's because the founder of Taco Maya is of Indian descent. He discovered the executive chef of a Mexican restaurant and liked his food SO much that he hired him as the head chef for all the Taco Maya restaurants and the rest is history. This was my first time at Taco Maya Niles but not my first time at Taco Maya. I came with a group of 5 for a work lunch. None of the other people I came with had been to Taco Maya before! The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone. Our group got a mix of tacos as well as a burrito bowl and taco salad. Everyone raved about how good their food was and how it was nice to see more fusion type items on the menu one doesn't typically see. Prices can be a bit expensive but everything tastes fresh and comes out hot. Don't miss out on the free salsa bar on top of the complimentary mild salsa and chips. Not a huge fan of what I got at least. Chicken taco was a bit dry but the al pastor was good. I like mayo so I didn't completely mind but the mayo to corn ratio seemed out of wack- so much mayo and it was so salty. They prepared our food quickly and our order was neatly packed (we got it delivered) and food was still warm. Not sure how it is in the restaurant - would try again in person to see if it's any better. Prices were a bit high for food quality . The rice and beans were not good at all tbh. This place is a gem. I went to restaurants and had nothing close to quality of tacos or variety. The avocado salsa is to die for and fresh all the time. The steak is real steak and thick cubes and tasty. The new Birria tacos and the au jus it comes with are so good. I am so lucky to have this place local. Even when I come late and they are cleaning and closing, they dont get upset and serve me quick and friendly. Frequent visitor as I cant keep away. Arlington Heights, Bloomingdale, Lakeview Coming Soon, Logan Square Coming Soon, Niles, River North Chicago, Rosemont, Schaumburg, Southloop Chicago. This Niles Location was pretty good. See my pics. There are 676 Photos. 488 just for food. So it's a lot to sift through. But my review here has 2 photos attached. I ordered the Steak Burrito. I said hold the lettuce and tomatoes. They did just that. It was 20 something including tax for just that and a fountain drink. It is a lot but Chipotle is very expensive. No chips just 2 burritos with guac and 1 fountain drink for me and my nephew this past April 2022 and it was 26 bucks. Even 3 tacos with drink and no chips at Chipotle was close to 15 at Chipotle. So for 20 you get so much more here. They gave free chips and salsa to start with. And with the giant burrito cut in half they gave rice and beans on the side. I have not tried the desert yet but it looks good per the photos here. But none the less lot more here for what it's worth. I will def recommend to all and go back my self. Maybe even for my birthday coming up soon. read more

The first time I had taco maya, the carne asada tacos really stood out to me. They were flavorful, tender, juicy, and just overall really good and worth the price. Since then, I've been craving them and I finally decided to get them again. I ordered them for take out and they definitely didn't taste the same as I remembered them as. They were just decent and pretty carne asada tacos. Maybe they taste better when you dine in, but I think I'd rather get carne asada tacos at a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants where they cost $2-$3/ea instead of $4/ea. Atmosphere-wise, I like it there! The employees are nice, the restaurant seems clean, and you can grab your own hot sauces and salsa too. read more

The taco came with three shrimps (or "shrimp"?) - Chingon taco -- the taco had chopped Steak, Chorizo, jalapeño, onion, cheese & Cilantro. The staff are extremely friendly and patient even though I was overwhelmed with the menu options. the tacos are DELICIOUS and the rice is fluffy and flavorful. Their queso is SO CREAMY and the endless chips made me so happy! If you're boycotting Chipotle like I am, I highly recommend you try their queso. The horchata was really tasty too but very sweet. Taco Mayo has several locations in the Chicagoland area - one in Bloomingdale, one in the South Loop, and this location in Niles. The menu offers various appetizers and sides (such as queso blanco dip, nachos supreme, freshly-made guacamole, etc.), enchilada entrees, tortas, salads, fajitas, tacos, burritos, and desserts. I had the steak chimichanga, which came topped with a queso blanco dip - honestly, this was pretty tasty! It was deep-fried, and there was definitely a generous amount of queso that was smothering the chimichanga. The filling was jam-packed, too, and everything was seasoned well; I think the queso just added a bit more saltiness. My dad, who is the original chimichanga lover, thought the queso was just too much - he thought it was unnecessary and it was a bit too overwhelming; he preferred his to be more simple! When dining in, you also get a basket of complimentary chips and salsa - the chips are thin, crispy, and well salted; their salsa tasted fresh and had a nice kick. There is also a toppings bar with more types of salsas and peppers. This is more of a fast casual restaurant, and there were many parties dining in as well as some pick-up orders. There's plenty of (tight) parking in the plaza lot. A group of us from the office frequently go here for their taco Tuesday deals. Their tacos are very tasty, generally no complaints on the food and price. We ding them two stars for the service. They used to give you a basket of chips for every two people, and everyone got their own warm salsa cup. Recently that changed and they became much more stingy; it's one basket of chips and only one salsa cup for every three people. When we asked about more chips, the manager was pretty rude about not giving us more. You have to understand--the warm salsa is very good, and not available on the salsa bar. Everything tasted great- the refried beans, rice, and pick de gallo which came on the side was excellent. Portion size was adequate as well. My only complaint was the size (not the quantity) of the peppers and the meat. They were way too big to fit on a small flour tortilla. I would recommend cutting the meat in half and increasing the size of the tortilla. I will definitely be going back there for more items. Delicious.
