I've been here 6 times. I've been there a couple times and it was good. But the rest of the times is wasn't good at all. The meat wasn't even cut, I had a steak burrito. There were chunks and chunks of chewy steak. Other times I orders the tacos and it seems like old food that has been sitting out for hours, the tortillas were cold and stale & again chewy meat. Honestly it's a hit or a miss. There was one time I ordered a burrito and it was really good. The next visit I order a burrito and it was disappointing. I wish it was a more consistent place with the quality of food. Also ordering on the phone and paying a few times, this guy had a terrible attitude. Very good place. The waiter was exceptional. Asked me to try the sauce on my dish in case I didn't like it. Man it was great. Had the carnitas with a red sauce (ancho peppers I believe) to die for. The carne asada burrito and gordita were a huge disappointment :(! The meat tasted as if it had been sitting at the bottom of the frying pan for hours! The meat that wasn't fried to a crisp was grizzly or just pure fat. It was so bad, that we couldn't even finish our food. Not to mention that the burrito was more tex-mex, rather than Mexican, with corn & carrots inside. The only thing that helped this place get a star was the nice seating areas and music. read more

I will not return due to the fact that it is my first time here and the cashier tried to take me for 33% more for being a gringo. Little does she know I am fluent in Spanish and my two closest college friends were name Luis and Pablo. I have a genuine appreciation for the Latin cultures but people like this make me sick. Had to question about the bill twice and they still tried to screw me. Muy mala!! If you don't speak Spanish, you will get ripped off here. Having read decent reviews on Yelp, we decided to try this out. The flavors are authentic and taste good, but the food is very greasy. The service was slow, there was only one lady working and the restaurant was empty. It seems they might be popular for their Oaxacan dishes, but we got a taco dinner and chalupa. The tacos were okay, but the steak was so oily, same like the chips that came out when we first got seated. The chicken and lengua tacos were okay, again quite greasy. The best mole I've had in a long time!! I'd show you a picture but I ate it all! My lunch partner had the pork with cactus. She ate it all too! The guacamole was filled with lime juice and cilantro. Very yummy! The restaurant is Mexican decorated like you are in a little cafe in Mexico. This is a true Mexican restaurant. You won't find the "American" Mexican foods there. But worth a stop. Love this place. It's the kind of place I can see on food network's DDD. From the outside, it doesn't look terribly inviting. My wife of all people wanted to try this out, and she did good. This is a family run organization with delicious homey meals. We've tried a bunch of dishes. We actually came here twice in one week. The ones that stand out for me are the chorizo and papas huaracha and the chicken enchiladas withe oaxacan mole. Both really awesome. You don't see oaxacan mole too often. Instead of getting better..... They will serve you your burrito with french fries. Thanks, the Portillo's is just around the corner and I can have french fries there. And it was sort of funny when they had the weird shaped fries, but lately i have been getting some saggy fat drenched potato. From the second I called in my order to the last bite of my taco dinner. And they try to satisfy everyone. Case in point, you can order the tacos "American style" or "Mexican style". Hadn't been here in in about 2 years, since they moved from across the street. Taco special in window, $5.99 with a drink. When I ordered the waitress told me "oh, it's $6.99 sorry, and no drink." Huh? OK, I said. When I went to pay, the taco plate was $10.99. Food isnt bad but I wont be back. Too expensive for area/what you get. What a treat to try this little Oaxacan restaurant. I may up my star rating if I try more of the menu, which I believe was about to get larger at the time of my lunch visit last month. The exterior is so nondescript that I doubt I would have ever noticed it, much less chosen to stop in for a meal, had I not been brought here by a friend. It's a little off my beaten path. But I'm glad for the experience and the food. The owner was really sweet as well, bringing us a gratis order of esquites (a corn thing) after first saying she didn't have it (I'm wondering if she was short one ingredient or something). All I had was a nopales-loaded huarache and some of the guacamole (and the esquites), but both were extremely tasty. And the chips were as fresh as can be. Amazing! What a hidden gem. I am a regular with the pork tacos for lunch. Spicy, flavorful, and authentic. They dont serve it with lettuce, rice, sour cream, guac, and all that mumbo jumbo (Of course you can get it all on the side), but this is authentic mexican cooking served with chopped onions, cilantro and a roasted jalapeno and green onions on the side. I am not at all wild about the food, but it is far from bad. It is rather bland, and there appears to be a problem with preparing chicken to put into a burrito (bone chips and cartilage). I've been here i few times now. On my first visit everything was way too salty. Even the guacamole was over done. But, everything was fresh and well prepared. So i decided to give then another try. This time, when ordering, I asked for no salt added to any of my dishes. I figured that meat was already salted for marinating anyway. I was right. Ones again everything was fresh and well presented. Saw this place months ago, but didn't think anything of it... until today. Damn, what took me so long to come here?!!? Ok, so this place is divey from the outside. Like really, nothing special and in a stripmall next to a convenience store. So you walk in, and it's bigger than you would think than from just looking in from the outside. And it's actually cleaner than you'd expect it to be. The interior has a bar, and is quite festive on the inside with streamers and stuff. The menu is much more expansive than your typical Mexican restaurant. Oaxacan mole with chicken, homemade huaraches with tinga or chorizo con papa, and picaditas are something that you don't see in very many places. At all. And it's freaking cheap!! My husband got an asada taco, a chicharron taco and a chorizo con papa taco along with a watermelon drink. I got the huaraches with chorizo con papa along with a real sugar Coke. And we split an order of guac and chips. The guacamole was alright, nothing to write home about. My dish was freaking fantastic. The huarache was thinner than a pita, but thicker than a tortilla, and fresh. On top of it was a layer of refried beans, then a layer of the chorizo, some lettuce, chihuahua cheese,cilantro, onions and a side of crema. The chorizo had a bit of char, and the potatoes were cooked perfectly and it was melty in your mouth... YUM!! Seriously delicious, and very homey- like you can tell this was someone's mom cooking this stuff in the back. The husband's tacos were good too, but the least favorite was the chicharron. It tasted good, but really while eating it, it had the consistency of like fat or tripe- it was soft. Would have been tastier if the chicharron were crispy!! The bill came out to $20 for our entire meal, not including tip. We'll definitely be back, for sure!! read more

We were driving around looking for a family run Mexican restaurant so decided to try it out. The decorations? Hmm. It was decked out in creepy Halloween stuff but I don't care about décor as much as food. But I was pleasantly surprised when the menu was in Spanish, not English. That was a good sign! I didn't know if they offered a cheese enchilada dinner, but they were happy to come up with one when I asked. It was yummy! My friend had chile rellenos and loved it too! when I am in Mexico I like to eat at local markets "fondas" this place is the closest place I have found in the US to a "Mexican fonda". I met the owner at the grocery store "La Tezoateca" and she gave me the recipe for salsa con Morita chiles, very good. I went to try "La doñita" (Doñita means "Little mrs") when they first open and their mole is very good, I brought several friends to try the mole, one of my friends said the Tacos al Pastor were the best he ever had. Try Mole Oaxaca it is not spicy, you cna taste the chocolate and peanuts... very good. so far enchiladas verdes and the huarache with cecina are my favorites(after the mole) read more
