Delicious Mexican spot with gorgeous decorations and good service. We wanted to try this place after seeing great reviews and enjoyed it for date night. They had many different tequilas and a great selection of drinks. This place was really clean and pretty inside. The food was good but seemed tailored the local area and not like hole-in-the-wall/super authentic if that's what you are looking for. It was tasty nonetheless but I've had better. Great service and decent portions.

I really wanted to love this place. We came on a Sunday as it opened. The chips on the table were okay, the salsa tasted super watery. My husband got the sal pique steak which he asked for medium, but it came out medium rare. I got the shrimp diabla which I expected the sauce to be spicier. Also wish it came with more rice. Service wise there was only one waiter and she checked on us periodically. There is alot of seats so it is good for large groups.

It was my first time trying Sal Pique. I like the interior of the place and the service was friendly. I ordered the Shrimp and Steak fajitas which came with rice and beans plus sour cream and guacamole. The fajitas were okay, nothing special. For the $30 price though, I didn't think it was worth it. I also had a Skinny Margarita. It was good, although it seemed like there was more ice than the drink in the glass. I would probably come back to try other dishes on the menu. I get that the location is probably why their prices are high, but it still seems unreasonable compared to other Mexican restaurants in other neighboring towns.

Sal Pique was my birthday selection for this year. It was a great meal. I hadn't had fajitas in quite a while but they were delicious and hit the spot. I also ordered some guacamole, since I knew that is something my kiddo would eat without argument. Their guacamole was the best! It was an adequate portion, great ingredients and spiced well. I believe the chips were house made and they too were a step up from most of the chips you'll get at a restaurant. I'd say the only thing that was inadequate was that they only provide three tortillas with the fajitas which isn't enough; it should come with four. Still, I would very much want to visit again sometime. Though the prices are a bit higher than usual, but it's good for a special occasion or an occasional night out. The parking is a trick--it's in Uptown, so you'll either get lucky and find a street space or a space in the small lot that's shared with several other businesses. It looks like there's some sort of below-ground parking, but I'm not sure if that's for business or some of the residents near here.

This spot used to have a different restaurant I used to go often.. they made the decor so fun and vibrant! Food was wonderful, the service was great, all the items I tried was so good I took steak tacos and tres leches cake to go for someone else, and I hear they are amazing as well. I will definitely revisit to try trio salsa, shrimp in different sauce, and churros.

Roberto and Zinnia, the owners, have done an amazing job in bringing an authentic Mexican restaurant to Park Ridge. From the decor to the food and the service, you feel like you're part of the family and like you're in a little corner of Mexico. I'm a fan of their first restaurant, Ovo Frito, which you should also check out, and what carries through is Roberto and Zinnia's dedication to making sure one has a great dining experience. The food is top notch delicious. My faves and go tos are their signature dish, Sal pique or any of the fajitas or enchiladas. The flautas are a must appetizer. I don't drink much alcohol but they do have a great selection of drinks. The service is always great, knowledgeable and friendly staff who are constantly checking up on you. I recently learned that there are Mariachi or Trio bands playing on certain Fridays so this is definitely a must for special celebrations. Have also seen the staff bring a cake and candle for birthday celebrations, along with of course singing happy bday. Very conveniently located a few steps away from downtown Park Ridge and Park Ridge Metra with a parking lot in the back. Always a pleasure to dine here.

Sal Pique is a traditional Mexican restaurant in Park Ridge, and I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Margarita 5/5 Food 5/5 Service 5/5 The inside is very nice with the bar near the back which is where we sat. We were immediately greeted and brought chips and salsa. The salsa and guacamole were spot on. Full of flavor. I asked for some hot sauce for my carne asada and they brought it out and said - it's hot! It was hot but that's ok by me. Fantastic stuff here. Met the owner and she was very nice. If you're looking for traditional Mexican in the burbs, look no further than Sal Pique. 5 stars!!

not crowded on a Wednesday evening, my family stopped in for an early dinner around 6 pm. They had chips and salsa waiting on the table and we polished off 2 bowls of chips before our food was brought to the table. I had the old fashion and hubby had the Michelada. We had fajitas , enchiladas with mole and blackened salmon. Everything was good.

A friend and I dropped by for dinner on either a Monday or Tuesday. Not many patrons dining in so we were seated quickly. We ordered a variety of items to share and our entrees were carne asada and salmon. My steak was like a 3. Flavored well, but a little tough and chewy. But it may have been just the cut of beef. My friend enjoyed her salmon. The garlic shrimp we ordered was a 2 to me, not sure what my friend thought. Drinks were good. Service was great! Everyone we encountered was very nice. I don't live near here, so I'm not sure I'd make the hour drive back. But I'm glad I got to try them out.

Good addition to downtown Park Ridge! The restaurant is warm and inviting - cool decor and good music. Looks great for a date night or group gathering. Upon arriving we were brought to a booth that already chips and salsa waiting for us which was a home-y feel. Their chips and salsa are good - addicting! My husband ordered the Huarache De Asada which is their version of a sopa. I ordered the Enchiladas De Mole (barbacoa). I love how they give you 3 protein options for enchiladas - steak, chicken, barbacoa. The mole was good, but felt the barbacoa meat was dry and lacked flavor. The beans and rice were also average as a side (that comes with the enchiladas). Service was prompt, kind, and fast. Prices are average and are competitive with other Mexican restaurants in the area. I'd come back! We enjoyed!

This new addition to Park Ridge is worth checking out! We went on a Friday night when they were packed but our wait was less than 10 minutes. We ordered drinks at the bar until our table was ready. Ambiance - 10/10 Nice place for a date night or a family dinner. You can park in the surface lot or street parking. We parked at Trader Joe's and walked over since everything was full. Customer Service - 10/10 Everyone was very nice and friendly. They would check in with us to see if we need anything and quickly got food and drinks to us. Food - 10/10 Drinks: Black Magic (made with charcoal) was good but its a special. I like my Mojito to have more of a minty flavor but this one tasted more like lime. I would probably get something else next time. Appetizers: Complimentary chips and salsa (if you like spicy, then ask for a spicy sauce....trust me its good!!!) Elote - Tastes great with the tortilla chips Main Entrees: Chicken Mole (comes with a side of rice and beans) - I highly recommend this dish. I wasn't a big fan of the side of greens but the chicken was good. I added some of the spicy sauce to add some spice and flavor. I ordered corn tortillas but did not get them. Chicken Enchiladas (3 burritos but you have to select one meat type) - This was also tasty and came with a side of rice and beans. *Note: The food comes out quickly after the appetizers. Overall, this place is highly recommended and we will definitely be going again!!

Cute spot in downtown Park Ridge. I met my mentor to celebrate our promotions. They started us with some chips that was nice and crispy. I tried a jalepeno pinneapple margarita and it was flavorful. It has a dried jalepeno in it. I also tried the pretty in pink and the flower they put in it was past its prime. For my entree I went with the chicken tinga tacos. It comes with 3 tacos. They served two kinds of salsa on the side. Rice and beans are extra. The rice was only ok. Service got a little slow at the end. However, it looked like our server was filling to go orders. They have a decent size menu for cocktails, mezcal, and sodas. Their food menu was a decent size and not overwhelming. I would recommend this spot. read more

Found this taco place in the area. Located on a strip with other stores and restaurants. We ordered frozen margaritas and it was so good. Food wise I got the carne Asada and my cousin ordered the al pastor tacos. A little on the pricier side but food was good. read more

Went for Cinco de Mayo. we were seated. Music played by DJ way too loud could not have a conversation. placed our drink and appetizer Oder as well as dinner order since it took a while to be acknowledge. appetizer and dinner served together. Mexican restaurant always offers chips and salsa, the place is great but the salsa was so sad to think about, it felt like they open a can of tomato blend with a few spices. The drink are not there special they need some barista classes. I had the sal pique steak and that was actually good soft meat. My husband had camarones al ajo and they were also good. The food was very delicious from appetizers to dessert, service was also great. My only objection is to the music that was played. Being that it is a Mexican restaurant, it should be, in my opinion of course, Mexican music. With all of the thousands and thousands of songs and the different genres of beautiful Mexican music, I can't understand why, not a single one, was Mexican! I really enjoyed the food, all of it, however, due to the music, I wouldn't go back. Call me petty but again, in my opinion, Mexican restaurant should play Mexican music! read more

We sat at the bar and our server "Johnie" aka Carlos was the best. Very authentic drink selection. The Mrs had a Paloma and I had a strawberry margarita. Both delicious. The chips are fried on site and the salsa has a slightly hot taste . Very good The food is among the finest in the Chicagoland area. Read my other reviews- I'm no push over. The owner is the chef and it shows. The food is fresh served hot and the waitstaff is very attentive. Try the carne asada My wife liked the chicken flautas. Give this place a try. Everything was delicious! So happy we finally tried it. Had the enchiladas with chicken and mole. Mole was excellent. Mole is my go-to when trying a Mexican restaurant for the first time. I came here two times a couple months in between. Food was ok, the vibe was not there. It was almost empty even on a weekend. Service was slow and hard to communicate with ppl that can't understand the language. I wish it was better, the space is really great. read more

First of all the decor at this place was great. There was obvious attention to detail. Chips are already on the tables even before you sit down. The salsa was good, but I wanted a side of guacamole which was authentically made. We shared the steak fajitas and chicken mole. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and we had leftovers to take home. Great "newer" Mexican restaurant in Park Ridge. Nice environment and atmosphere with plenty of free parking. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Plenty of freshsly made warm tortilla chips (fried tortilla style) and red salsa. We had the Chesse Quesadilla, Guacamole for appetizers, and Mi Tierra Burrito, Steak Enchiladas De Mole, Steak Fajitas, Steak Rancheros, Kids Chicken Burrito, and Kids Steak Taco for dinner. This was incredible! Cooked to perfection, amazing flavors. Just beyond. Everyone at the table had a great meal. I've been waiting for this restaurant to open and finally saw the grand opening sign and had to try and it did not disappoint. I decided to try this place because it has high ratings on Yelp and Yelp has not let me down yet . We were greeted warmly by our waiter who let us know that there was a happy hour going on from 4-6. The margaritas were half price which always makes things taste better. We both ordered salads that were beautifully presented (see pictures). Not only were they beautiful but tasty as well as generous in size. Took home for another meal. The place was very bright and festive. I loved the decor! The booth gave us privacy. What a waste of time I'm never going back to marias, again, never, never never never! I think the waitress did not speak English that well too bad. But the worst part was when we were ready to wrap up. It took at least 40 minutes for us to get our check and get settled. I had been thinking I probably wouldn't make it to another meeting because I hadn't expected to be gone for a couple hours, but others mentioned they'd made plans after the book club and specifically mentioned that they usually weren't that long (it was my first time meeting with the club). We paid with cash and card, and made note of what was what, but somehow the guy got it totally messed up and we waited 15 minutes for them to cash us out after he took our cards. Had they just given us individual tickets from the start they'd have been done in a fraction of the time, so that was super frustrating. As I said, the food was just ok and with many other places around (at least a couple at which I've eaten and were pretty good) I don't need to come back unless for some reason the book club makes its way back here again. It took OVER 15 minutes for Server to acknowledge us, And another 10 minutes just to take our order, while we watched multiple tables who were seated after us being served promptly and efficiently. At that point, we should have left. I eventually received an appetizer, but my mother and sister received nothing. As I sat there awkwardly picking at my food, we watched surrounding tables (who arrived after us), receive full meals before us. We flagged down our server, and only then were we casually informed that my mother's meal had been given to another table. No apology beforehand. No proactive communication. No attempt to correct it until we had to ask. Let that sink in: an elderly woman sat there (over a hour now), waiting, ignored, while her meal was served to someone else and no one thought to inform us. At that point, we got up and left. The front door staff were the only bright spots. They were polite and immediately got the manager. The manager assured my sister that the situation would be "handled," that we would be contacted, and that some form of recompense would be made for the experience. She was also so apologetic... But her apologies were as devoid is truth as her personality was devoid of any humanity. So her promises that she would reach out that we would be recompensed well...That never happened. No call. No follow-up. No accountability. As for the food? I can't fairly review it because we never actually received it. The small portion of appetizer I did get was nothing memorable, and the sake was honestly subpar. What I can review is the service, (if one can call it that,) and it was abysmal. Disorganized, inattentive, and completely lacking in basic professionalism and respect. Promises were made and not kept, which makes the experience even worse. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are too many places that actually value their customers' time, dignity, and experience. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

I was proven wrong, with my first time dining in showcasing their ability to cook some seriously great Italian dishes and changing my mind on this just being an ordinary pizzeria. For food we opted for the Regina Margherita pizza, Linguine Chicken Tettrazini, and lasagna - all based on recommendations provided by our amazing waitress. For starters we got the riceballs, fried calamari and cream of chicken soup. There was not one thing from this long list that we ordered that we were unsatisfied with, and everything was extremely good, fresh, and of the highest quality. The chicken tettrazini definitely surprised me the most, as I always knew this to be a quick family meal at home made with canned cream soups. This rendition of a comforting dish was definitely more luxurious, cheesy, and made so well. The pizza was amazing, with the dough being airy and crispy and the char from the wood fired oven adding great flavor. The cream of chicken soup was addicting....didn't think that was something I would enjoy as much as I did! The staff here is all so welcoming and attentive. We visited on a Thursday evening for dinner and though tables were filling up with the dinner rush beginning, our waitress was always checking in on us, making casual conversation while juggling all the other patrons simultaneously. It's quite evident that Paninos is popular with the amount of people dining in, taking out, and delivery orders during the short amount of time we were there, so I highly recommend reservations if you have a larger party or if you're planning on having a meal during the weekends!

My recent taco experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The Pastor tacos were an absolute flavor bomb! The tender, marinated pork was bursting with rich, smoky spices, perfectly balanced by the sweetness of pineapple. Every bite left me craving more. My boyfriend had the fish tacos, and they were equally incredible. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a zesty kick that brought the whole dish to life. The fresh toppings and creamy sauce made each bite a refreshing delight. To top off our meal, we shared churros that were simply heavenly. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, and filled with luscious chocolate that oozed with every bite. The rich chocolate filling added an extra layer of indulgence that made these churros unforgettable. They were seriously the best churros I think I've ever had. I really wanted to like this place given location and staff seems very friendly, but the food was bad. For the price I was expecting good food. Paid $130 (including tip) for one appetizer, one entree (fajitas), one kids burrito and 3 drinks. We ordered the Chori Queso appetizer that was essentially ground chorizo and a sprinkling of cheese on top. When the server offered me a box because we had so much left, I said we didn't like it and his response was "it's our third most ordered dish" and giggled. Didn't offer something else and didn't remove from bill. The house lime margarita was very sweet and tasted like orange juice. The kid's burrito was very bland and came with French fries. Some fruit or rice/beans would be better. The fajitas were also very bland and the onions and peppers were undercooked and crunchy. The ambiance is nice but almost too fancy. The food looks good and is presented well, but I'd rather have tasty food. They put orchids on some of the dishes. I would prefer no flowers on the food and lower prices. read more
