I was actually pretty impressed by this place! This is more of a 4.5 star review, but I can bump it…read moreup because maybe it was just a "bad night". If you are looking for a good ol Mexican place, this is the place for you! They do take reservations and are pretty sizable. We went on Saturday night which was a bit crazy. It was very crowded and we were concerned about the service. While the service was a little bit on the slower side and we were there for almost 90 minutes, all the food came out hot and delicious. I got the Enchiladas in Mole Sauce which was excellent. It also came with a soup or salad which was a nice surprise. I went with the black bean soup which was great! If there was any downside, my House Margarita tasted a little weird. I probably could have complained, but I kept with it. Pretty good size, but I think there was a little too much tequila in it! Either way, this place isn't inexpensive, but you do get quite a bit of food and everybody at my table enjoyed their meal. Sometimes thats enough! This is a great icon in this part of Chicago/Rosemont.

Disappointed. We are frequent customers. Hostess has NO people skills. March 1, 2026, 530pm…read more Asian or Philippines, and the other Hostess, Latino unfortunately. Waitress was also tense, rushed, (place was not full). What is going on?? Revenues & Profit will not prosper, with poor Leadership, poor people skills from Top to bottom, regardless of food experience. Not sure we will return. You can't charge Michelin wine price, if you don't deliver the full experience. Please go back to the basics.

Situated in the far corner of a shopping complex, La Autentica Donita is pretty unassuming. Lined with colorful flags, plants, and string lights, the restaurant has a cute but vibrant atmosphere. Upon entering the party starts, with music blaring and drinks flowing, you know you're about to have a great experience when you see the happy faces of other guests. The drinks looked amazing, but we came here for the food. Recommended by staff was the ceviche & molcajetes -- they weren't kidding when they said those were good. We were so full when eating but kept going back for more as the flavor was addicting. The ceviche, made with tilapia, came out shaped like a fish -- an extremely cute way of plating that caught our attention inmediately. The flavor was amazing, not too fishy, perfectly paired with citrus, and minced small enough that we weren't left chewing our seafood for long. This paired perfectly with the accompanied chips, or if you're me, just eat it by the spoonful because it was that good and refreshing. The molcajete was....insane. You can't go wrong with flame grilled meat piled high in a stone bowl, but each piece had it's own flavor and was so delicious. Though served with homemade tortillas to make your own wrap, I couldn't stop myself from just grabbing the meat on its own. This was the first time I tried cactus as well, and to my surprise it had just as much flavor as the meat. The salsa that is poured on top of all the meat pools at the bottom of the molcajete after your meal, making for a great treat at the end with some rice. Speaking of rice, their rice is perfectly fluffy and has great flavor as well. I'm typically not a fan of beans but I couldn't stop eating the ones that accompanied our meal...how did they season everything so perfectly? I also ordered the enchiladas oaxaqueñas (mole), but ultimately was served the verdes. This wasn't a big deal for me and I didn't even bring this up since I devoured my plate anyway, but after reading a few reviews have found out that they often are out of the mole sauce and possibly just served me the green sauce for that reason. Something to be aware of in case you were set on trying their mole! All in all, this restaurant packs flavor, quality, and great service. Staff was always attentive and I wish I lived closer to try more items.

The service was great too, which made everything even better. Honestly, this spot was one of the highlights of my Chicago trip and made it feel complete!

The decor was second to none Asians the Bar and restaurant area had nice wall decoration and ceilings had dahlias hanging - nice touch. Service here was absolutely incredible and I forgot his name, but our server was super kind and friendly. The food came out very quickly and quite fresh. The tacos were good, but nothing out of this world frankly and quite overpriced. The mango ceviche that came out was good but again nothing that really stood out. My friend Said she absolutely loved her salmon but she didn't touch any of the vegetables because everything was smothered and butter. The biggest disappointment frankly was when we ordered dessert and had the churros. Whoever fry them up literally fried them up to a crisp. There was nothing chewy about them. They were absolutely rock solid hard and when I pointed it out to our waiter, he said that was not normal nor should it have been cooked or fried that much. So they were kind enough to remove that from the Bill because frankly, we didn't eat any of it. I think it's worth checking out. The place is really cute, but considering all of the choices for truly authentic tacos and Mexican inspired food this is not on the top of my list..
