Their new item, Quesa Birria, arrived in three pieces. Because of the excess cheese, the tortillas have a wonderful crispy edge. The delicate and flavorful pulled meat is lovely. The freshly chopped onions and cilantro on the side added a nice touch of flavor and color. Anytime I can get authentic Mexican food cooked and served by Spanish speaking people I'm happy. This place is in a strip mall so you might miss it if you don't look. Tried this location as the other ones I frequented (Western and defunct 47th) took a nosedive in their once excellent quality. Sadly they're all not worth visiting. First off my order was incorrect, inexcusable when it was simple to begin with and zero other customers (wonder why). The meat which is their whole selling point and the reason they used to be SO GOOD was old, rubbery, completely flavorless. The burrito itself was markedly smaller (like we wouldn't notice), it was the size of a kid's burrito you'll find at any other place yet $13. The tacos were soggy and falling apart with like a tablespoon full of ingredients. Salsa watered down to the point of blandness. I started visiting them when they were located in Brookfield over a decade ago, they were my favorite but I've given them and all their locations enough chances to know they'll never be the same, you'll definitely regret eating here. And please don't believe any recent 5 star ratings, they're obviously from friends and/or family, no way anyone would spend that much for garbage and be happy about it read more

Was so looking forward to getting a burrito from this place since i was working in the area and haven't had this place in a while. I was shocked to see the lady making my burrito measure out a small of steak! This was the smallest burrito for $13.03 to be exact i had. It had no flavor at all. This used to be one of the best steak tacos/burritos I've ever had till this occcasion. To make a story short, i get that prices are up everywhere and increase is needed. The tacos al pastor were really good. I asked for no onions and they had zero onions. Other places tend to cook the meat with onions and luckily they don't here. That's rare. Also he was so nice to tell me the guacamole had onions in it. But it didn't have much actually. The chips were good too. They are very strict with the masks and social distancing. That's nice. I stopped here at the recommendation of a Mexican co-worker who loves to cook. He said this is the best Mexican meal in the area for lunch. I really wanted to be amazed by it because of his recommendation, but it was just good. I got a ground beef taco (nothing adventurous and my coworker got a steak burrito). The co-worker that came with me is a big Mexican food fan so I asked how he liked his meal. He said it was as good as he's had at any number of Mexican joints but nothing he was doing backflips about. He said he would come back. We both agreed it's hard to screw up or differentiate yourself when you're serving Mexican food because it's such basic ingredients. (Though I've reviewed a taco place in Libertyville that were incredibly flavorful with meat that was seasoned perfectly and super tender, so it is possible.) I'm not quite sure why my other co-worker recommended it as better than other places. (By the way: My taco came with a corn tortilla. I didn't specify corn or flour, so it seems like corn is the default. If you like flour tortillas, make sure you specify that when you order.) I have to say the guy who took our order was very nice and I was impressed because when I ordered water (which gave him no soda business) he made a point to give us a glass with ice as if we'd paid for a soda. That told me he was more concerned about us enjoying our meal than he was about making a few extra bucks on selling a soda. For that I gave them an extra star. read more

Never fails. There's very very few Taco places that do every Taco flavor well. So here's the breakdown so you know what to get. And you can trust me. Been a chef for 20 years and traveled all over Mexico. Al pastor- pretty good. They actually add pineapple like it should be. However cannot get an excellent score because it's not made on a rotisserie like it should be. To me, why even bother if you don't make them right. Asada- Excellent! Good quality meat. Well seasoned! Chile relleno- good. Chorizo-poor. Not made from scratch from either a good Mexican store or deli. Comes from a nasty tube. You can tell because it's finely ground and very very greasy. They'd be better off not even offering it. Service was friendly. Kids enjoyed it. I would actually come here again. Still worth it since they good asada and pastor. read more

This place is better to eat at rather than take your food back to the office or home. The food is cooked fresh right in front of you and if you judge this book by it's cover, you will miss out. They are a pretty darn good restaurant. The chicken used in their tacos and burritos includes some grilled onions, so beware non-onion fans, like me! The steak they use is not the best cut of meat and can be a little tough, but they season it very well. The double up their corn tortillas for their $2 tacos and that's helpful for your folks that put salsa and junk all over it. I am not a fan of all that, so I just eat the inside tortilla. Ask for some limes on the side and squeeze them over your steak taco or burrito. It will add some freshness and lighten up the greasy-ness that is your lunch. They charge you for little things like cheese ($.50) which is kinda lame, but what are you gonna do, they gotta make money. You can have a pretty decent sized burrito for under $7.00 and they make spanish rice too for $1.75. It's a small bowl/cup. I think sometimes it sits too long because you will get the clumps of rice mixed in, but the taste is decent. They aren't the fancy sit down place you may be thinking they might be. It's an order at the counter- they will holler out your order- you will pick it up at the counter and find a place to eat. Now, my office is just down the road, literally, and I prefer to eat in their place than take anything back because it's just so fresh on site and I recommend you do this too. Give them a try. It's my first time visiting this place and I'm not happy with the experience. I will take fault for not paying attention to their prices. They are overpriced! Their chips and guacamole is $7.50 and you don't even get much chips. Only 1/4 of the bag was filled with chips. Their Chile relleno is $3.95. Basically, I paid $16.50 for two Chile relleno tacos, 1/4 of a bag of chips and a small container of guacamole. Definitely overpriced! I won't be coming back to the place. read more

MEH...Ive experienced better...at Taco Bell... My coworker and I were driving by and wanted to grab a quick "working lunch" for whatever reason he didnt want to go to our usual spot down the street at Avanti, we both regretted that decision with every sad bite of Las Asadas. I went up to order and as I was ordering I noticed a microwave next to the grill...No NO NOOOO!! This should have made me walk straight out the door, Ive had food at many Mexican "hole in the walls" and I have NEVER seen a microwave next to the grill, I dont want microwaved Mexican food. I placed my order for a vegetarian sope and a quesadilla. When I received my quesadilla I was terribly disappointed. It was a small quesadilla made with two corn torilltas, it wasnt the usual large quesadilla made on a flour tortilla. ughhhhhh My sope was miserable...it was a small doughy sope, I ordered it as a vegetarian. It came with rice, lettuce, and sour cream.....Beans, cheese, and avocado would have been nice to add into this and maybe more lettuce...Thats usually what other Mexican spots do. it was soo unbelievably small on serving size, it really could have been a kids meal. The rice on the sope was pretty clumpy and didnt appear fresh, which makes me believe this is probably what they use the microwave for. My coworker ordered chicken tacos and he was complaining about the lack of flavor the chicken had. He was covering his taco in hot sauce in effort to give it some flavor. The only thing I did like about this spot was my horchata, it was good, not too sweet. The seating here is alright, we were able to do work and eat in a booth that we spread out in.
