Ultimate skillet (swapped out mushrooms for red pepper) with over easy eggs
Danielle D.

I've been coming here since high school so I may have some nostalgia visiting. It's my personal favorite Egg Harbor location. I love the atmosphere and it's a bit cozier than some other ones I have been too. Although it is a little more expensive in terms of the quantity/size of the dish, the food is consistently delicious. This time I ordered for pickup and they do a great job at packing up the food. I got the Ultimate Skillet with over easy eggs. It was a great lunch.

We had a great experience here today. The restaurant is large with lots of seating and while it was busy upon arrival, we were seated quickly. We were also able to order our coffees at the drink bar while we waited - a bonus! Our server was awesome and very attentive. It was easy to know what was gluten free with the dedicated menu and TONS of choices. The food was all fantastic but I've got to call out the gluten free cinnamon roll and the gluten free bread on my sandwich - absolutely spectacular. The only downside to this place that I saw was the price. Both sandwiches were $16, which seemed steep, but maybe that's normal now. Hard to tell. Either way, we will be back because everything was delicious, they do a great job accommodating my dietary restriction and the service was spectacular.

Pretty lovely and friendly brunch place. We tried their French toast and skillet. Both dishes tasted good. Highly recommend the French toast, the blue berry jam came with it is fresh made!

Quick and friendly service! My mom and I came here to this old haunt while we were in town visiting family. Love that this place is still here. I was just a little one last time I came here lol. Service was stellar And we had the Caprese avocado toast special so good with the eggs and fruit salad I had the mimosa which was yum! And min had the OJ It was a lovely meal we didn't feel rushed even for a busy Sunday there.

Had the chicken and rice soup, delicious. Had breakfast, two eggs over medium, bacon and potatoes. The issue was should have requested hashbrowns, the potatoes that came with it. we're on the cold side, not cold but not warm, hot. The service was great, my issue was with the potatoes

Pumpkin spice Chai tea latte

This restaurant in downtown Arlington Heights is always busy. The servers and manager were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure that we had an enjoyable experience. Since it's October I had to try their seasonal menu. I had the pumpkin pancakes. The house-made sugared pecans were baked into the batter. I really enjoyed the way the pumpkin flavor mixed with the candied pecans. I made it into a combo which added two scrambled eggs and two sausage links to the plate. I also tried the pumpkin spice chai tea latte. This is a very sweet drink, but tasted wonderful. I went with a friend and we sat and chatted for a while after our meal without any rush. The Egg Harbor Café comes highly recommended for a good meal, friendly staff, and a warm environment.

Love this restaurant it's a cute little spot and they are open from 7-2. Came to visit my friend who's a local. The staff was super welcoming and was able to answer any questions we had with the menu.

Since there was a total of 11 and the seating is first come first serve, we decided to call to see if they had reservations. They did take our name and reserved a table. When we arrived we noticed a table was reserved and we were informed that it was our table. We sat and looked over the menus. When we were ready my 2 boys and I went up to place our order. My one son has major allergies so we spoke to the chef and he came back out to recommend the dishes he can have. It was great that he did so and gave us confidence that my son would be able to eat without worrying too much about the ingredients. I ordered the Shrimp Kalamakia with a side of the Greek Rice. My son with the allergies ordered the Pork Kalamakia with Greek Rice and no pita, my other son ordered the Traditional Pork Gyro with Greek Rice. The sides we ordered: Saganaki Fritters and Spanakopitakia. My son that ordered the Pork Kalamakia devoured it. He said it was tender and juicy and probably could have eaten 4 skewers. My Shrimp Kalamakia was nicely charred and seasoned, I squeezed some lemon and it provided a nice tang over the seasoning. The Lemon rice pilaf was soft and cook just right and was nicely balanced. I had one Saganaki Ball and it was delicious. My son had the Pork Gyros said it was really good and the Tzatziki sauce was creamy and rich with flavors. My in-laws bought the table desserts and I got the Baklava and my wife got Loukoumades (Greek Donuts with Nutella) and both did not disappoint. I really loved the citrus honey syrup in the Baklava. The Loukoumades had a crispy shell and nice a fluffy on the inside and the Nutella amount was perfect. This place is very good and well worth the price in my opinion. I loved the fact that they took the time to make sure my son with allergies was safe.

And the music seemed similar to a club beat but not obnoxiously loud. Service The service was great. Our server gave us some recommendations and the staff seemed pretty nice. The food itself did not take too long to come out. Also, when there was a mistake with one of the orders, it was taken care of without any issues. Food Fried potatoes This was a recommended side. The potatoes themselves were crispy with a fluffy middle. It came with a spicy mayo type of dipping sauce which tasted good other than the fact that dipping the potatoes in it did not really get that much sauce on them. I would recommend this side dish. French onion grilled cheese The French onion grilled cheese is a very tasty dish. It has the sweetness of the caramelized onion and nice cheese pull. It is a rich dish so eating cause food fatigue. We got it with bacon. It was good but not really necessary. Crispy chicken sandwich This is the chicken sandwich seen on tiktok. The cutlet is thick and it was fried with a light coating. The chicken sandwich was juicy. I think mine might have needed a little more seasoning (my own preference). Overall The scratchboard kitchen is a nice place to go and have a bite to eat. It has a nice array of food and drink options. I would recommend at least trying the food and enjoying the ambiance and service.

Our server asked us way later how we're doing - I could almost sense she forgot she already took our order some time ago. I had the Kale Mango Salad with chicken. For a kale salad it was fine - but the mango pieces were far and few in between and tiny. There are fast casual restaurants with better mango salad. Just call it a kale salad. My co- worker had the double cheeseburger which was fine according to him. I had his fries they were fantastic. A lot of my coworkers go here so maybe this is a one off. Although the rare mango pieces in that salad still sounds like false advertising. This was my first. Take that for what it's worth.

We also had the roasted red pepper spread, which everyone enjoyed. Two of us ordered the Ultimate Steak Sandwich. I opted to removed the caramelized onions. The other person let them on. I also removed the garlic herb sauce but replaced it with a chimichurri sauce. That really kicked it up a notch and was good for dipping the fries in. They're fresh cut fries, so they were good on their own, but the chimichurri again kicked it up a notch. We also ordered the chicken bowl, the avocado salad, and the Greek style lamb chops. We all loved our food and were too full for dessert. It's a quaint little place, cozy for intimate conversation or a night out with family and friends. I think the night was made a little more fun when a couple came in and was seated at a counter height table and were making out all night. It was a lot and gratuitous.
