Went to McAlister's Deli for a light lunch and got their New Yorker with broccoli as the side. I was craving a good pastrami sandwich and it was overall very enjoyable. The only thing I feel could have made it better is if the pastrami itself was a bit hotter (our friend got his to-go and his sandwich had steam coming out of it, that alone made it look so much tastier than ours). Broccoli was cooked perfectly retaining its taste and crunch. Staff are very friendly and encouraged us to come get a free refill on our soda before we go which I thought was kind. They come drop off your food if you are dining in. Ambiance is quiet, calm, and clean. They do a good job maintaining the area and the space can accommodate groups of all sizes. I recently went to McAlister's Deli for the first time. The interior was clean and spacious, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We stopped in for a late lunch after working out, and I split their New Yorker with a side of broccoli. The food came out pretty quickly, and the portion size was solid. I also appreciated the free drink refills. I was especially curious to try the New Yorker to see how it compared to the pastrami sandwich at Katz's Deli in New York, but it didn't come close (as expected). It's a nice, quick option for an easy lunch, though not something I'd necessarily crave. The sandwich would have been better if it had come out hotter. Our sandwich was warm, but our friend who got it to go had his sandwich coming out steaming. It just made it look much more appetizing. Overall, it's not the best sandwich I've had, but it's still a good deli option. They also offer a "Choose 2" deal, where you can pick any two items from half sandwich, half salad, half soup, or half spud, for $10.99, which I think is a great value. I met with a fellow marching band mom here to discuss strategy for feeding the band for the 2026 season. The staff was polite, knowledgeable about the menu, and chill with us yapping for 2 hours in their restaurant space. Everything was clean, but I did choose the high tops over the booths because the booths looked pretty well loved and like they may be uncomfortable. We each got a pick 2 and a cup of water and I believe the food was good for the value; my plate was full! The meal comes with a free pickle spear that was delicious. I ordered 1/2 McAllister's Club + 1/2 Savannah Chopped Salad. Both were flavorful and delicious! I was grateful for the space to strategize and observed a similar meeting at a nearby table as well as a family and a couple. McAlister's Deli is a decent lunchtime restaurant in Mount Prospect. We had the southwestern salad and a Turkey melt half sandwich - both were pretty good, not bad. The portions are fairly large which is good because they're not cheap salads/sandwiches. I love the iced teas/lemonade that they have at McAlister's as well. My mother and I went to McAllister's Deli for lunch on a weekday. The menu and feel reminded me of a Panera. The cashier took the time to answer our questions. We ordered the French dip sandwich and tomato bisque as well as the reuben sandwich and pecan cranberry salad. The food was delivered to our table quickly and hot. I was impressed with the taste and quality of our lunch. The prices were much less than I was expecting. Their menu is extensive, and there were many things I wanted to try. Love their food and the staff is friendly but based on what I've seen, there's just a disconnect when it comes to communication between the staff preparing the food and those serving it. There seems to be a lack of quality check before customers receive their orders. Without fail, every time I order take out, something is missing or a custom request is not fulfilled so before I leave, I always check my food. Today was no different and I had to return my food because my modifications weren't done. It took a few minutes to get a new order again so ordering ahead so I could get my food on time was pointless. Please do better! read more

The good part is I do not have a complaint about the restaurant, in general. Sometimes they take longer to prepare. Today,my order was placed and accepted at 1:13. According to GrubHub it was ready for pickup at approximately 1: 30, with a delivery window between 1:30 and 1:45. Watching the tracker, it stated that the courier Jean had another stop before me. My issue is with GrubHub delivery. It is unacceptable to schedule multiple stops. What are we paying for? Shoddy service?? My order did not arrive until 1:52. 40 minutes after I ordered. I complained and received a $5.00 credit. A token apology at best. I think McAalister's should review their policy/ contract with GrubHub. I will go back to using DoorDash in the future. read more

Had McAlister's Deli for the first time today! I came in on a Friday around 6:00pm and it wasn't too busy at all - thank goodness! There were a bunch of people taking their food to go, but my friends and I opted for dine-in. The deli itself was standard and looked pretty clean. I will say, the portions here are plentiful. I got a half salad and half soup combo, and it easily could have been 2 full-size options. I got the southwest chicken and avocado salad, and to be honest, I felt like it was something I could quickly make at home. It wasn't anything special, there were like 2 wedges of avocados and very scarce chicken. My friends both enjoyed their sandwiches, so I'll definitely try one next time I come here. I did however really like the chicken tortilla soup! It was thick and flavorful. There is plenty of parking out front and it's located in a shared strip mall with other food options. I wouldn't necessarily recommend McAlister's, as it wasn't anything remarkable or necessarily rememberable, but I would come back and try a sandwich and get another one of their soups! read more

A pretty typical McAlister's. Friendly staff; food was first rate. This time we had the choose 2 option with half sandwich and salad for one person and half sandwich and ultimate nachos for the other. As shown in the picture below, the half New Yorker sandwich had an odd look to it but was delicious. Our only issue was minor and that was that the table was a bit sticky in places. read more

Every time we order the Pecanberry salad - don't expect pecans. You receive the salad(greens) and a few strawberries, berries, and a few slices of chicken. But NO PECANS. What I love about this place is that there's something for everyone! We had 12 people who had no issue finding something to eat and everyone's order was right and delicious. I ordered the chicken breast sandwich, I put on a ton of vegetables, the flavors together were amazing. My husband ordered the Reuben and it was hot and fresh. If you are a baked potato fan they have several specialty potatoes or you can make your own. McAllister's is definitely worth a stop for lunch or any time! We have given McAlister's multiple opportunities with the hope their service will improve with no success. We have spoken to the "manager" when our take-out order has been wrong. I have escalated to the regional manager. We have waited six months at a time before placing another order in the hopes that something will have changed. Nothing works. They can't seem to get an order correct. Last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. The order wasn't even close to what we ordered. This should be no surprise. Sixteen-year-old indifferent "managers" and kitchen staff obviously could care less about getting things done correctly. I wanted to try this place after seeing the yummy salad options and the extensive menu (there are sandwiches/soups/salads/spuds/pizzas/etc) and loved that it was an easy/cheap lunch option. Service: the staff warmly greeted us and they checked on us twice. They repeated what we ordered (to get the order correct) and were really friendly. I would definitely return just because of the polite and helpful service. Food: the food was decent. They had different sandwich/salad options and combos. My guest ordered a salad and I had the two salad combo- and the portions are pretty big (I ended up taking one home). The salad itself was okay. It's on par with other similar lunch-chain restaurants. The cookie (I got the cranberry walnut) was delicious and I liked that they had different options including sweet tea! After eating here for the first time I have to say the pictures McAlister's took of their meals are misleading. They give you waaaay more food then they show in the pictures. We got a veggie spud which was easily two meals. And also the 1/2 soup and salad. The Savannah chopped salad was as much good stuff as they could fit into the bowl. I didn't even need the soup, but it was good! Finally, there's a healthy and delicious choice for lunch or dinner around Randhurst where you can get in and out quickly and you don't have to spend what you would at Smokey Bones or Black Finn. All in all, I would go back here in a heartbeat. The food was great, the prices are fair for all the food you get, and the variety on the menu should satisfy anyone who wants to leave with a full belly and a smile on their face. (After I wrote my review I read some of the others and saw comments about this place trying to imitate Jason's Deli. GAWD I hope not! I've had several meals at two of those places. The bun is soft and crispy on the outside, there is melted cheese on top of roast beef thats well seasoned. It looked like there is allot of meat but looks were deceiving. I've dined in and ordered online (via Yelp/Grubhub,) and both experiences were positive. Quality, taste, portions, packaging, and service were great. Pricing is fair. There is an expansive menu featuring: sandwiches, soups, salads, shareables, sides, and spuds. Personally, I love the Choose Two. McAllister's is definitely a welcome change from the usual Panera, and definitely much more food. I've enjoyed everything I've tried thus far: BLT + avocado, tuna salad, spud ole, and spicy southwest chicken. The marshmallow crispy for dessert is a huge, delish treat that is hard to pass up. Mediocre. I ordered an Italian sandwich for me and a Memphian sandwich for my better half. We split sandwiches. Neither of us were impressed. The service is over the top friendly. Prices are comparable with similar sandwich chains (Jason's Deli, Panera). But the quality of the food is not as good as the others. It's not terrible, but doesn't seem as "fresh" as the offerings at other sandwich shops. The Mac and Cheese isn't too bad. I've had better, and worse. Would I go back? Maybe. If I could give it a NEGATIVE 10 I would! The women who took the order never stated how much it was and she failed to give me a receipt. I don't normally eat at McAlister's Deli and I never will again after this experience. While the kitchen staff and the old ladies behind the counter were carrying on with each other my food took ten minutes to get to the counter and another 5 to get to me. They were slowly taking food to their sit in customers and the Uber drivers and I stood there waiting. In fact, I had to ask a person behind the counter for a refund and he didn't even proceed to do that. Instead he went to hand me cold food and left. Tried to call customer service and that was the biggest hoax. They didn't give a rat's a** if you had a bad experience. Didn't get my refund either. The au jus spilled on the way home because it was poorly wrapped and the lid hadn't been secured and just thrown in a bag. My opinion is two thumbs down. read more
