WOW! To make a long story short, we got seated, our drinks, and orders taken, and after 15 minutes, our food was hot and piping and fresh. And it was tasty - my steak quesadillas and my mom got a house Cobb salad. Both were tasty and looked great. Our server Miriam was awesome with our orders, she came by to check on us and not too many times, and was there to help us with leftovers and leaving stuff. She struck a nice balance of not being there vs being here too often, so that's Ace's in my book. Since it was Mother's Day, it's crowded and a bit loud but not too loud where it was too obnoxious, except for a few people who had no manners at all on dress, but that's another topic I won't go to, for now. Tables, plates and silverware were clean, and one can still get around, even with one table behind us with a handicapped person, it didn't crowd up much at all - it was all very reasonably spacious. Definitely will come back here, though I do miss that older lady who was our server the last time before today, who was very nice - had a bit of an attitude to her personality but not too much to make it tasteless, some sass makes for an interesting day. Though a bit obscure and hard to find, those who want a good sandwich know where to go. There is a curated selection of Italian, French and German sandwiches. This was my first visit so ordered a Cipriani with Italian mortadella, marscapone(!), arugula, pistachios and balsamic. It was the marscapone that sold me, but this was generously portioned and (let's be honest) messy for me to eat because the sandwich was piled high. I had to take half to go. I heard a few orders for the Gusti dal Nord (prosciutto, Gorgonzola, arugula and pear), and that sounds enticing as well. The bread is fresh and crusty. They had a tomato soup the day I was there, and I read on the website that they have pierogato -- Eastern European dumplings.

Fork and Flour is a Chef-driven kitchen & patisserie that I found on Yelp.  From their website,…read morethey are proud that the dishes and pastries are Scratch-made daily from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.  I recently gave Fork and Flour a try; it is truly a hidden-gem in a strip mall -- Dunbrook Center of Northbrook. The store is cute and smallish, with a total of 6 seats. There is a small round table with 2 chairs, and the rest of the chairs are facing the front window with a narrow panel table. The most attractive feature of the store is the glass dessert case that displays all the beautiful and enticing pastries and desserts. Many of the desserts are unique. I ordered the Falafel Hummus ($14.99) online.  It took about 15 minutes to make. The dish included hummus, 4 big crispy falafel, tahini, slow cooked tomato compote, spice mix, olive oil, and served with 1 pita.  Everything was fresh and was packed with flavors.  The falafel was crispy on the outside and was delicious.  The pita was soft and fluffy, one of the best that I ever had.  I wished I had ordered one more with the dish for $1.50, though.  It went really well with the hummus and falafel. While the dish was very good, I wish it was warm, if not hot, though. It was just room-temperature. Since I was eating it at home, microwaving it was not a major problem. I purchased a dessert at the store while I was there.  I went with the Mango Explosion ($7.49), that was truly the bomb!  It looked like a real mango, but contained coconut macadamia sesame crunch, mango cremeux, fresh mango, mango fluid jelly (contains nuts), and was excellent!  Inside the crunchy mango-chocolate shell, the creamy interior with sweet ripe mango combined to be one of the best desserts that I ever had!  I will eat this again, and again... Fork and Flour has dishes that I like and desserts that I love, friendly and helpful staff, and proximity to home, I will definitely return.

The space is LIMITED. This is primarily a take-out experience. There's a tiny table with 2 chairs and a counter style table with 4 seats. Honestly, it's all too close together and uncomfortable, though I do appreciate the option to dine-in. They're working with the space they've got, so no fault, but do be warned. I noticed several things were sold out for the day, both on the savory side and sweet side. Likely best to get in early, this was roughly 2 PM. Lots of orders of challah ready to go out, seems like they've got dedicated regulars already. A good sign for the authenticity. I ordered a shawarma pita and two desserts from the case. The menu is exciting and it hits a few unexpected notes, I'll have to try the chopped cheese (a cheese steak style sandwich) sometime soon. I dug into my peanut butter and jelly themed pastry while I waited for my shawarma and it was great! Super elevated with an an impressive balance of flavors. Not overly sweet. My main came out pretty quickly. Oh wow, what a sandwich! The flavors were everything I wanted. Juicy meat, heavily seasoned. Spicy harissa, acidic sweet pickles, creamy slaw for balance... all on a perfect pita that I could rip chunks from as I ate. A bit of a messy experience but they offer the best wet nap in the game, much respect. I needed it too. Later at home I enjoyed my chocolate dome. Spot on. Slightly sweeter than my previous choice with a good texture. Picking just a few options from the case was tough, they have lots of delicious looking offerings. I'll have to come back soon! But as a treat, because it IS on the pricy side. My 3 items cost me around 40 bucks, but they're killing it with both the sweet AND savory so I don't think I'd skip either. Service is quick and friendly, and prices are reasonable. Parking can be a challenge at times in this busy shopping center, so it's not a bad idea to get carryout outside of normal meal hours. I suggest getting the dressings on the side so that you can control the flavor. You could even see the ingredients being prepared. I enjoyed watching the greens they used being pulled off the branch. The salads were good but were too big to finish in one sitting. I hope that they add a half salad option to the menu. The servers were very nice and friendly. I will be returning to Sweetgreen.

There were so many delicious sounding options on the menu. I decided to get the short rib banh mi with tater tots. I was really tempted to get the sweet potato fries, but couldn't pass up tater tots. My food came out fairly quickly and it looked delicious. The tater tots were crispy golden brown. And that's exactly what they were crispy and crunchy. The main part of my meal looked great as well. I was so glad that I came across this place. This banh mi was tasty. The meat was cooked well and tender. The Serrano aioli glued the sandwich together. I want to come back and I will come back. I have so much more to try.
