Two things stood out to me as I walked into Stacked & Folded for the first time. First was the…read morefriendliness of the staff ready to answer any menu questions I had. Second was the amount of regulars that came in while I was waiting for my food. The customers that came in already knew what they wanted and chatted a bit with the staff. It wasn't overly busy when I was there. I took a bit of a late lunch. It was very clean and the staff was busy putting together to go orders. There were so many delicious sounding options on the menu. I decided to get the short rib banh mi with tater tots. I was really tempted to get the sweet potato fries, but couldn't pass up tater tots. My food came out fairly quickly and it looked delicious. The tater tots were crispy golden brown. And that's exactly what they were crispy and crunchy. The main part of my meal looked great as well. I was so glad that I came across this place. This banh mi was tasty. The meat was cooked well and tender. The Serrano aioli glued the sandwich together. I want to come back and I will come back. I have so much more to try.

One thing Mench's should absolutely make a bigger deal about: the meats are made in-house, as are the dressing and mustard. That matters. It speaks to what they're trying to do here and distinguishes the place from a typical deli experience. Tell people about it! Overall, these felt like small, one-off execution issues rather than anything fundamental. The food was really good, the atmosphere is terrific, and the people made the experience even better. I left already thinking about what I want to try next. Great first impression. I'll definitely be back.

Picnic, from Evanston, recently opened up here and salads are something that i should eat all the time. And they are so good that I want to eat them all the time! They haven't been open very long, but so far I've enjoyed the New School Chicken Salad (i prefer with chicken thigh), Spicy Spring Roll Salad, Rabbit Food (probably the healthiest of all the options) and the green chicken whole grains bowl (my personal favorite). The whole family (kids included) seem to be fans and I find myself picking it up for lunch or dinner several times a week. They will soon share a kitchen with Mensch's, which I also look forward to welcoming to Glencoe!
