Everything we hoped it would be. Primo stop after spending the morning at the hospital around the corner. We wanted GOOD food and Buck Russell's delivered. Delightful interior, exquisite selection of sandwiches (it was hard to pick!), and welcoming staff. Interior and patio seating available. The shop connects to Buck Russell's Bakery, and Pizza by Sal; so everyone in your party could really get what they're craving in one swoop. The Super Green Vegetable salad was loaded with flavor. The topping - olives, pistachios, Parmesan cheese, broccoli, asparagus, avocado WITH the lemon vinaigrette was some kind of magic. So bright and fresh - and you feel good eating it. If only it were closer to home so that I could try one of the 7 other menu items I wanted!

We stopped here to some hot chocolate so that's what we had it's good not to bad. Cool spot for sure lots of treats and cake and ice cream as well among other drinks. I do recommend it for sure.

We were near Buck Russell's so we stopped in for sandwiches to go. The dining room has a cozy retro feel. I wouldn't be surprised if a movie filmed there. The staff are friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our order. The sandwiches are a bit expensive for what they are. I ordered The North Shore Turkey Club and my husband ordered the Smilin' Guy. Both sandwiches came on a hoagie roll in either white or wheat and come with a pickle spear. Both sandwiches were good although the vinaigrette on the club made for a messy eating experience. We are glad we gave Buck Russell's a try.

Good location in Wilmette, I had the Ouilmette Cheesesteak Sandwich, it was delicious, had a basket of fries and the kids had iced coffees and a cupcake in the bakery. I may be partial to anything John Candy I admit.

Takeaway: Incredible sandwiches in a fun, old-school diner package, but definitely pricey for what it is Context: Dined-in for lunch What I Got: Turkey Jeweler (9/10) One of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had. Warm shaved turkey with an incredible, just sweet and tangy enough spread with peppers that add that extra zing . Really just one of the best sandwiches I've had in the area - especially considering just how simple it was. However, for ~$14, it really was quite a small sandwich. I still think it's probably worth it, since the sandwich itself really was quite impressive, but the decor is actually a bit misleading in this sense, since you're expecting something a little more substantial with the image that it gives off.

My wife had the Chili and it was really good. I chose the toasted Italian sub on ciabatta which was also very good.

Good sandwich options at a throwback 50's diner atmosphere near downtown Wilmette. Limited seating so good for smaller groups.

Banana Pudding Bundt Cake made with Nilla: Nothing Bundt Cakes (NBC) Banana Pudding Bundt Cake was…read morefirst introduced in 2025, but its limited run from 2/16-4/12/26 was my first tasting. Opening the container, the cake itself had a yellow/golden color and a mild vanilla aroma. The official description is "a delectably comforting banana cake, baked with real banana puree, made with real Mini Nilla Wafers and drizzled with vanilla pudding" (and of course their delicious, sweet cream cheese frosting). As usual, the texture is superb, with one of the best aspects of their cakes being the exceptional moistness of them. In this case, I think the pudding and possibly banana puree contributes to the moistness factor as this seemed moister than usual (in a good way). This is where things get a little perplexing. The name "Banana Pudding" makes me think that the pudding would be banana flavored, but according to the description, the pudding is vanilla and the batter is what's made with bananas. My taste buds only got a vanilla flavor from both the pudding and the cake though (zero banana). There was a fair amount of vanilla pudding in the center, but both the pudding drizzled on the exterior and in the center is difficult to see with the naked eye. The Nilla Wafers were crisp, but soft. I can't really hold this against NBC because unless eaten immediately after prep it's almost impossible to keep them crisp. It's also important to note that the wafers were baked throughout the cake and not just the conspicuous one decorating the summit. Unfortunately, the Nilla Wafers do not really contribute anything as the overall flavor is already vanilla and the soft texture gets lost within the moistness of the cake. This one is tough because it was a phenomenal vanilla pudding bundt cake, but it's a terrible banana cake. They really should be calling it Vanilla Pudding Bundt Cake made with Nilla. Doughboy approved as a vanilla pudding cake, avoid if you're hoping for bananas. Doughboy_Food_Reviews My top bundt cakes: 1. OREO 2. Biscoff Cookie Butter 3. Confetti 4. Churro Dulce de Leche 5. The cafe is large with many tables in the back, bar seats in the front window, and big display cases of pastries. They also have whole cakes, a few savory food options, and a small coffee and tea menu. The staff here are generally friendly, and you order at the counter. I have tried many offerings from Sweet Reserve and there truly are no bad choices in the food menus. My favorite savory offering is the chicken tikka twisted bread, which is flavorful and light and crispy pastry warmed up, and also the grilled cheese. These are perfect lunch options for me if I can swing by on my break. On the sweet side, the almond croissant is my absolute number one from Sweet Reserve. The croissant is layered and flaky and buttery, and the almond filling is rich and creamy and divine. I could eat a thousand of these. Their brownies are rich and chocolatey, the Ferrero one is a top contender in our house. I'll often grab one of their pre-wrapped cookies to take with me also, they do have seasonal choices in these. They also generally have a vegan and gluten free option, for example a vegan raspberry matcha muffin (that I know to be very tasty also!) If you're feeling extra indulgent, their miniature tarts and cheesecakes are high quality and well made with great flavor choices. As a Floridian in Chicago, I really enjoy their key lime tart especially. Finally, I took a chance on their whole cakes over the summer for my partner's birthday. I was able to walk in and pick a whole chocolate cake and take it with me. The price was reasonable for the quality and how beautiful it was, and the cake was incredibly luxurious to eat. I would absolutely buy another whole cake from Sweet Reserve with how easy the experience was. This is a spot that I frequent and I really enjoy. While I highlighted some of my favorites, I have never tried something that I wouldn't go back and have again here, and will continue to try new offerings.

The bakery offers large cakes - and yet they will.not customize in any way, not with any kind of birthday message, or anything to recognize a special occasion. We went to pick up the cake, the young kids working there didn't even seat the cake well in the box - didn't close the box properly, and when we got home, the cake had shifted so that it had rubber against the side of the box. The chocolate cake layers themselves in the Ferrero cake were excellent - a slightly denser texture with some chew, but not overly so, and nice and moist. The hazelnut cream was ok. Overall it was hard to taste that this was a Ferrero cake, although I could see a few crushed up pieces of the Ferrero chocolate inside. But the white frosting was awful - tasted something between flowers and soap. I do not enjoy a soapy cake. In terms of the cafe itself , it's an industrial space that put minimal effort into feeling like a modern/minimalist cafe. Not somewhere I see myself enjoying a latte in. I don't see myself returning any time soon.
