Pictured here is the pistachio latte (which, was....INCREDIBLE), Nutella croissant, pistachio donut, and an iced chai latte! Everything on the table was delicious and fresh! Each pastry was so soft and perfectly filled inside, the latte was so yummy and I usually never get hot lattes unless it's cold outside but I'm so happy I tried it because it's a must the pistachios on the side of the cup add an extra crunch when drinking that I couldn't get enough of! The iced chai latte was very refreshing, it wasn't too sweet and you really get the punch of the chai. The service here is so sweet and they are just the best and it's such a beautiful place to bring friends and hang out, or get work done! You need to check this place out!:) Sip, smile, repeat! Cafe 44 definitely was a treat, tried a strawberry matcha latte and an iced mocha coffee both which were very yummy! Will definitely go back to try food but the drinks and the atmosphere was incredible! It's definitely a place to go sit and do some work while you enjoy tasty treats:)) The service is also so sweet, made it even better!:)

We came here for a caffeine fix, ordering the following: +Turkish Coffee +Latte with almond milk +a Pistachio Latte +and, a Spanish Latte We also tried their mini bird's nests, a few filled with chocolate, and another few filled with pistachio - these were actually pretty tasty! Unfortunately, the coffee was not brewed well and was extremely weak; they looked aesthetically pleasing, though, with the latte art and/or the toppings. Staff were friendly; once you order, your items will be ready for you on the side counter. The space is bright, and they have a handful of seating inside - the place is popular, so you may have to wait a few for a table. Street parking is available off of Waukegan. +weak coffee +stick with the mini bird's nests +street parking available

It was grilled and prepared to perfection! The order came with fruit on the side, it was really healthy and satisfying. The coffee was really good as well. We will come back again and try other dishes. The staff here are really kind and courteous as well and I love the mission of the place. Delicious food and a good cause. You can't beat that!

Café with a Cause? Absolutely…read more I run an organization called Stomping Grounds Literary Arts Initiative, where we teach visual arts, creative writing, and audio production inside juvenile detention centers. We're currently active in three Illinois Youth Centers--Chicago, Warrenville, and St. Charles--as well as at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. I often interview my students about their creative work, and recently I met up with one of them to talk about a powerful piece he created for our Locked Achievements gallery show. During our conversation, he mentioned he'd been gaining work experience at Curt's Café--so naturally, I had to see it for myself. Tucked in the heart of Evanston, Curt's Café is warm, welcoming, and beautifully intentional. As soon as I walked in, I spotted not just one but two of my students working behind the counter. That moment alone made my day. The café has a comforting vibe and a menu that caters to everyone--even someone like me on a cleanse. I grabbed a vegan dish featuring sweet potatoes and kale, and it hit all the right spots. Clean, hearty, and full of flavor. What makes this place even more special is the mission: Curt's Café is dedicated to giving young people a second chance through employment, life skills training, and mentorship. They're doing real, restorative work--and it shows. I even found out they're hosting an art showcase on May 3rd, and there's a chance some of our students' pieces from Locked Achievements will be featured in their gallery space. If you're ever in Evanston, do yourself a favor: stop by Curt's Café. The food is great, the mission is inspiring, and your support goes a long way. Check out their website to learn more. Five stars--because how do you rate a place that serves up hope and sweet potatoes?
