Duck noodle soup - A bowl of duck noodle soup containing broth, cooked noodles, and pieces of duck meat, with some vegetables visible.

I can't believe it took me so long to find this place. I was feeling under the weather, so I wanted a duck noodle soup, and my husband ordered the saki lover (5 pieces of salmon nigiri and a spicy salmon roll). We split it all of course. Duck noodle soup- broth was perfection! It hit all the right spots and was loaded with delicious boneless duck. They did not skim on the duck. The noodles were wonderful, and plentiful, too. We had leftovers. For lunch the next day. The Saki Lover- I have never had a better tasting Salmon Nigiri. This was so fresh! The salmon roll was just as good. The salmon melted in your mouth, and the perfect amount of rice was given to each piece. I can't wait to order avain from here!

Lunch Box Spicy Kung Pao Tofu - A Japanese-style bento box with rice, tofu, and vegetable dishes, paired with a bowl of miso soup on a wooden table.

Cool little Thai place located in Wilmette is good for lunch. Dowize is right, and you would do wise to come here for some good food and prices. It only has a small dining area, which seems to work because most people get takeout. Also they deliver. The lunch specials make lunchtime the best time to get your Thai fix. A lot is on the menu at this small cafe. It's hard to believe they have so much food here. They were only doing delivery and takeout. Now they offer dine in. Of course most people still get takeout. Upon seeing the inside, it's easy to see why. It's tight quarters. There's only a few tables. It was lunch on a weekday and they had specials going on. We got the Lunch Box, where you make choices on some items that come in this. It's about $10 depending on the protein choice. These all come with miso soup. It was light but full of salty bean flavor. You pick an appetizer from the list. Get crab Rangoon, egg roll, fried tofu, or gyoza. We each got the fried tofu. It was little pieces and fried to a crisp. This came with a sweet and sour sauce. After this you pick a protein. There's beef, chicken, shrimp, tofu, or vegetables. I picked tofu. She had vegetables. I thought the tofu had pretty good flavor. This came with rice and vegetables. Also you choose the style of how it's cooked. I got it as Spicy Kung Pao. It certainly had a spiciness but it wasn't too much to handle. She had it as Pad Kee Mao. It came with noodles, so it was a little different. There's egg in a few of these specials so be sure to say if you don't want any in it. Best time is at lunch to take advantage of the specials and save a bit. It has a lot that can be made vegetarian including pretty much any of the specials, because you can choose proteins and ingredients. They have dine in, but it's only a few tables so most people get takeout.

We have ordered delivery from this restaurant when we're craving Thai food. They serve Japanese and Thai items. Coming from California, we definitely have a lot of Thai restaurants. The dish I'd recommend here is the Pad Say Eww. They are generous with the amount of meat and veggies they place on this dish - thanks for that! Pad Say Eww - flavorful (my go to dish) Green curry - Good Fried Rice with Chicken - Decent Kids Mac and cheese with Katsu - kids LOVE this dish (and they eat the broccoli too) California Roll - OK Spicy Tuna Roll - Meh Spicy Salmon Roll - OK I'd definitely stick to the Thai dishes vs ordering sushi here. Love that they have fast delivery!

Simple pan Asian cuisine. Great Thai, good Sushi. Eat in is pretty modest, but the service is great and the owner really friendly

They have the best Pad Thai one of my favorites ever. The sushi is also pretty good as well as their appetizers.

We ordered two rolls as well, salmon rice bites, two appetizers, and two sides of sashimi. So we left three of the nigiri on the plate.., the rolls were not great as well... seeing how off the nigiri was left quite a bit of the sashimi on the plate. Forced ourselves to eat since our bill came to $180 with tip but seeing the amount of food left the server kindly asked us to whether we wanted to box anything and didn't want to get sick so politely declined. Seeing that most of the tables around us stuck to ramen understand that is why this place has good reviews.... The star is purely for the service (they sweetly took a picture of three of us) and the table was comfortable with one side being a bench against a brick wall and TVs showing the world series but a really expensive mistake to make worst of all it was my one night of dinner seeing my daughter at college and not the way that I wanted her to remember our time together.

Disclaimer I forgot to take a picture of what I ordered, which was the chicken teriyaki bento box I forgot because I was so hungry and everything was so freshly cooked and hot that I just dived right in. That bento box had edamame a spring roll gyoza and the rice covered in furikake plus the chicken teriyaki and seaweed salad and more. I also ordered the lychee jasmine tea, which was cold and absolutely delicious and it was not a cup of diabetes, thank goodness We also ordered a Tonkatsu bowl, which was very generous, freshly cooked and super tasty. Both orders came with a miso soup, which was also piping hot and tasty. The set up is definitely a little bit more fast food because you can order to counter and then get your food on a tray and sit down or you can order it from a kiosk as well. They also do takeout orders. The best part about this place besides the food and the ambience are just so cute and modern and clean is the staff and the manager. People really do make the difference and people really do enhance an experience and an overall lasting and first impression. I would absolutely come back here. It is super conveniently located. Great pricing with very generous portions. The owners are Japanese and everything here is super authentic.

You can grab as much sushi as you want as it passes by, but keep in mind you're charged per plate--and the cost adds up quickly if you come in really hungry. The sushi itself is okay; not bad, but not quite worth the price point in my opinion. Service was a bit lacking. You really have to be patient, particularly when it comes to checkout--it took us about 45 minutes just to close out. That definitely put a damper on the experience. Overall, it's a cool concept and worth trying once for the novelty, but for us it's more of a one-and-done spot rather than a regular go-to. One standout feature was that this was my first time dining at a restaurant with a self-driving robot that delivers specific drinks and items directly to your table. It's really cool and definitely helps Kura stand out. Because of that, you'd expect more server presence for everything else you might need--but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The layout and path of the restaurant are really well designed, and the overall ambience is great. I came with my duvet loved the atmosphere, which made the experience feel fun and memorable despite the service gaps. Overall, the technology and vibe are impressive, but the lack of consistent human support takes away from what could've been a much smoother experience.

It comes down to the question of quality. There was nothing that put my intestines into reset mode, but the purge was not more than two days away. Take the Ikura... I've had top-notch caviar that was bone dry (the best), and caviar that was average. The stuff here was covered with a thin white film that appears when it is well past its prime. The same thing can be said for the toro. Ordinarily, this is a beautiful cut of fish that melts in one's mouth. However, the toro here was slimy and chewy. While I can't bring up any more specific examples, the theme of past-prime products was not limited to these two items. Beyond that, I was also underwhelmed by their selection. While it seems vast, most items have either crab stick or tempura-something. Cheap ingredients that I don't enjoy in the slightest, making the menu agreeable to my palate much smaller. With Kura being self-service by design, I am unable to really comment on the service. However, it was helpful in the limited cases when I needed assistance. Final verdict: If it weren't for the dangerously lackluster quality, I might have been open to a return visit. However, given the tragedies the kitchen allowed to make their way onto a plate, it is almost certain I will not stop in again.
