A satisfying meal can be had here. It's a real mix of pan-Asian favorites from Chow Mein to Cashew Beef (very good) Pad Thai (average). There are also a wide selection of drinks including Thai tea, Bubble tea and soft drinks to name a few. One surprise was the desert menu which had some decidedly western options like Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Fudge Cake to go with Mochi or Green Tea ice cream. The staff was very friendly and the service responsive. It's a dependable if not stellar.

I used to live in Evanston and this was one of my favorites. I met a friend for lunch and we went here. The food was still good and the service was friendly and fast. I had a bento lunch box which was quite filling. The ambiance is casual but enjoyable for a friend lunch, date night or groups

Lunch Special Avocado, Kappa, And Sweet Potato Maki

Getting Asian is easy around here. If not picky about how authentic it is. Dozika is such a restaurant in Evanston. Mostly get some Japanese inspired items along with some Chinese and Thai. The lunch specials are good for sushi and the rest is a value. At lunch is a good time to come here. It was the cheap specials that made us choose it. These are real money savers. It's about $10 each. We got the Lunch Special, Sushi Set. Comes with a bowl of miso soup which was simple yet good. Quite a lot of food to be real. Choose which rolls to get in it. We got the Avocado Maki, Kappa Maki, and Sweet Potato Tempura Maki. A good deal. Plenty of food for two people. Fresh tasting even though it came out fast. The tempura had a nice crunch and it added texture. Come here for cheap specials at lunch. It's the best time to come here and save on rolls. This isn't quite authentic but whatever.

    Crispy and Soft Noodle

I came on a weekday at lunch time. The whole place was empty except they did seem to have a couple pick up orders. I havent eaten in the restaurant before and so I wanted to try it out. If you come here, I recommend getting the non-sushi dishes. Maybe it's because it's been slow for them, but the chirashi raw fish did not taste or smell fresh. It was a bit concerning even. The crispy and soft noodles were fine. It's not better than really any other Thai restaurants in Evanston, though, so I don't think I will be back.

Went before a show at space right across the street. The place just opened early when we got there. Service was un memorable. No cocktails, had wine. We got apps, chicken satay, just ok. Secondly, we got Japanese crepe balls filled with chopped octopus( tako yaki). It was interesting, and it was cruncy out seafoody in octo not tough We had pad thai, looked , tasted meh. We also got a variety of rolls (6) all we large and fresh. Priced per average. Soild sushi place conviently located for a show at space

    Dead bug

I only had Dozika one other time, and it was very good. This time around, I ordered pad se ew lunch special with shrimp and crab rangoon for delivery through GrubHub. It was delicious, but by the time I got to my crab rangoon, I noticed something that resembled a dead bug under the crab rangoon. I was able to get a refund through Grubhub, but nonetheless I was disappointed.

I've never even heard of this place until today. They had pretty good sushi. The Thai ice tea was nice.

Good wide menu with items that you don't find at your mainstream japanese restaurant. More like old school Chicago Japanese. (Thinking a blend here of old Ginza and maybe some parts Sunshine.) Maybe only with the departure of those favorites we appreciate more what has stayed on. Appetizer selection is long enough to just get small plates to share. Notables: - ebi snijo (homemade shrimp ball) - hamachi jaw (if you haven't had it) - hirame no cha soba age (fried green tea noodles and whitefish rolled with seaweed) - evokes the old Ginza restaurant for me - octopus sunomono Even after three recent visits without repeat apps, there are still more we haven't had elsewhere to try. Part of the reason for that is - we get entrees too. We've been happy with: - chirashi (curious how the sashimi D differs) - Salmon Bento (D) - so many different things fun to share! - Kuni's Special - gomaee and mixed seafood sunomono, then our choice of sashimi followed by saba - nabe yaki udon is reasonable here at $13 with two tempura shrimp Know there's lots of reviews here, but as long as there is room on weekends for us we're happy to share!

The shallot rice with vegetables had no vegetables at all and tasted as if it was premade and warmed up again in the microwave. The shallot rice with beef was the same and contained tiny bits of burned beef. The sushi was not fresh and the crispy spring rolls were akin to dog treat sticks. The food is expensive and some of the worse food I've ever had. While I appreciate the business owners detailed response, there are contradictions. When ordering the shallot fried rice from the restaurants website on July 2, vegetables were included as an option. Today vegetables have been replaced with herbs. Nevertheless we chose the available vegetable option therefore vegetables were requested. The restaurant received our vegetables request as indicated on the pictured receipt and packaging. We received herbs and rice but no vegetables. We did not order through a third party delivery service. We placed the order through the restaurant website and I arrived early to pick up the food. I hope that the owner is able to receive my feedback constructively and take accountability for the issues my family encountered with the restaurant.

We ordered an Espresso Martini, Diet Coke, Shoyu ramen, and the Black Dragon roll to share. Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn't quite live up to the atmosphere. The espresso martini was pretty bland and lacked that bold coffee flavor you'd expect. The shoyu ramen was extremely salty--my boyfriend usually enjoys saltier dishes, but even he couldn't get through it. It almost tasted like a heavily seasoned braised pork broth that had been diluted into a ramen base. The Black Dragon roll also felt a bit overwhelming, with too many competing flavors, and it came across more sour than balanced. Overall, great service and ambiance, but the food could use some improvement.
