It got here fast enough, the rolls were reasonably priced (they seemed maybe a little bit smaller to me so just order accordingly if you're really hungry), the fresh salmon was soooo rich and creamy, and idk if this is on them but I always tell people to call instead of just leaving it at the door with no notice and this one actually did. Paragon means a perfect example of a particular quality, and this restaurant meets this definition. Award Pending! Outstandingly terrible service in a restaurant! If there was a way to be more unwelcoming in service I believe this place could, with little or no effort, do it. I don't feel singled out in this regard, nor do I believe there is something about me that they didn't like and yet I felt special and despised. If the food tasted like the service it would have tasted like garbage, but for some reason I cannot honestly review the food because the seasoning of the service was so overpoweringly salty I did not taste it. Other reviews have detailed the manner of their style so I will just say my experience was parallel. This is not a "they're having a bad day" sort of service, this is the sort of eternal afterlife is a Sartre play set in a restaurant type of experience. I look forward to future reviews by others willing to subject themselves. As for me, I will always be looking for another restaurant to usurp their accomplishment in rude. Friday fail for food. Fried tofu was a miss with a bad oil aftertaste that could not be covered up with the watered down dipping sauce it came with. Pad Thai noodles were greasy and clumped together and i also learned that the $2 upcharge for flank steak meant i got 2 barely there slices of steak. My family has Thai for dinner about 2-3 times a month, and we've tried just about every restaurant on the North Shore... SIAM Paragon is our favorite, hands down! My husband and mother in law are pretty consistent ordering pad thai, pad see ew, or musamun curry but I like to explore the menu and order as many different things as I can. It's ALL been good! (Note: we haven't tried much of their Chinese or sushi, so can't comment on those.) I also have a 2 year old, who's a bit of a picky eater and she LOVES their kids bento boxes. I was shocked! She thought it was so cool to have her food in little compartments, and gobbled up the majority of the meal. I can't wait to take her back some time! I also couldn't leave a review without mentioning that they have a very nice and hard-working staff. There's one waitress in particular who's almost always there, and she's so nice. She remembered me coming in when I was pregnant, and then with my infant daughter, and when we showed up recently to try dining in with her as a 2 year old the waitress remembered all of us and was so amazed and how much my daughter had grown! The food is delicious, fresh and well prepared. Unfortunately, the service SUCKS. Servers are rude and like to argue with customers. Have had the same experience now twice in a row and will only order pick up from now on. Today, we and 2 other parties sat waiting to be seated for close to 10 minutes in an empty restaurant while we could see workers in the kitchen laughing and joking around. Finally a girl who was here to pick up food approached the kitchen and 2 ppl scrambled out. They sat us out of order as more people came through the door. I said something to the waitress and she was annoyed at my comment so she proceeded to answer in one word answers the rest of the time we we're here and refused to give me a box that for my leftovers. She argued that I'd have enough room in a tiny container when I had 75% of my food left over, plus 1/2 of my rice. It was obviously not going to fit and she kept going that I needed to make it fit. Finally, I told her to sell me the bigger container if she didn't want to give it to me and she brought it. The day before we came here to lunch too and had a similarly bad experience with service. They have a buy one get one sushi menu that you can get any day of the week. The menu is huge and has multiple pages so the options are plenty. I've only come here for the sushi so I can't comment on the main entrees, but I think it is one of the better sushi places in Evanston. They have a weekday bogo deal during certain hours which makes coming here pretty worth it. They also have an all you can eat option as well. Food - there are so many sushi rolls to choose from - one page front and back - which is great! You can also substitute purple rice in any of the rolls - probably one of the best options in substitution history. Anyway, their Japanese food menu is also pretty extensive and the price isn't too bad. I love their sake don (salmon on rice - $17) which comes with a good portion of fish. It also comes with miso soup which I really liked (usually, I find miso soups to have a 'fake' sort of taste, but this one didn't). Rolls are big and filling. Service - service here is pretty average, but I'm really just here for the food. The inside is very spacious, so there has never been a problem with waiting for a table or slow service. read more

One of my go to sushi places in Evanston! I frequent their AYCE sushi deal on Sunday and Mondays for $22.95. I love this place because they have a good variety of rolls, nigiri, appetizers, and because the portion of rice to fish is excellent! A lot of sushi places will stuff their rolls and nigiri full of rice with just a little piece of fish. This place IS NOT like that. I come about once a month for their AYCE and I can attest to the fact that they give you good quality portions. This would be my go to place every single time I craved sushi if only they had white tuna nigiri and vegetaable/shrimp tempura on their AYCE menu. Currently, they're running a Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) roll deal during the times when they don't offer AYCE. Seems like a great deal to me even though I haven't tried it yet. Though it'd be nice to see some other ingredients in the former other than just noodles, broccoli and your choice of protein. The noodles were also really chopped up and short for some reason. We also ordered this stir fry dish where you get to choose your sauce and protein, but it doesn't tell you what else is part of the dish. I was very disappointed by this one. For the most part the rolls were good. Each of my rolls has so many pieces. I need my husband help to finish my food. One of the rolls my husband ordered was wrapped in cucumber and had no rice. I don't think he enjoyed it, mostly because it was really tough to eat. For 8 rolls we paid $60ish. Not bad. We also ordered Thai iced coffee.
