I really enjoyed my curry and ran out before I finished all the crispy noodles. Would definitely want to try the massaman curry next. The flavor of the pad see ew was good but it was very saturated with the sweet/salty flavor--perhaps needed a little dilution. Thai iced tea was good, typical taste but on the sweeter side! Tonight I had the very worst mini eggrolls I've ever had in my very long life. These tasted like freezer burned logs put in the microwave for way too long. Serious cardboard. I want my eight dollars back! This is such a great place and we've always had excellent food dining in. I ordered the basil ground chicken and it was tasty but wish I had gone spicier. I paid for hot sauce but it wasn't spicy to my taste either. We also had the Thai curry puffs appetizer. I thought it's supposed to have chicken but ours were vegetarian. We also ordered two entrees that both came with rice but we were only given one small rice take out container for both of us. I ordered takeout. I had a panang curry with crispy noodles. It was good. The broth was a little on the sweet side but I enjoyed it. Next time I'll probably order it a little more spicy. I also got chicken curry puffs. The puffs were actually really good but I don't think they had chicken. They were like an Indian vegetable samosa. Very rarely do you have come across a restaurant these days that has a great atmosphere, great service and great food. Yasotorn is a hidden gem that has all 3! Easily one of my new favorite restaurants. Their rooftop patio was calm, quiet and relaxing. A few other diners but not loud or overwhelming on Friday night. It was literally tucked away with trees around. The restaurant seems to be in an old house. Our server was prompt, kind and aware of allergies. The food tasted fresh, homemade and plenty of vegetables. Large portions! I also found the pricing to be so fair. We had fresh summer rolls with amazing peanut sauce. Pad Thai, Pad Woon Sen and fried rice. It was absolutely delicious! I have a gluten allergy and my friend is vegetarian, they had plenty of options for both of us. It is so hard to find restaurant food that tastes fresh I swear. This was like someone's mom just bought the ingredients today and made it for us. I must say.. any of these negative reviews.. Hubby wanted Thai again and we decided to try this place again since we liked the Panang curry, only we ordered it with salmon instead of the chicken we got last time since it was tough. We also ordered the gyoza (pot stickers) after another customer said they were good. And they were. The Panang curry was just as tasty as last time, but the salmon was too well done. It was downright tough and chewy! Not sure if it's because we ordered less than an hour before closing time so they were rushing? Yet we were AGAIN disappointed. Ordered from here last night, and while the food was delivered pretty quickly, the quality was not it. We ordered Panang Chicken Curry, Tom Yum Vegetable Soup, and Sticky Mango Rice. All of these dishes had more liquid than substance. For what we paid, I felt a little robbed. I also asked that the chicken curry be mild in spice and it was so hot, I had to give it to my husband. The space is very cute with three levels and outdoor seating. There are items clearly labeled if they can be made vegan or gluten free. If you are vegan I would recommend mentioning it as some menu items do need modifications to be made vegan while others do not so it doesn't hurt to double check! The pad Thai was flavorful but the noodles are very thin and it reminded me more of pad wo on sen. The pad kee mao was also delicious but is spicy. As somebody who enjoys spicy food I thought it was perfect but know some can be sensitive to spice. I think the prices are also a great value and would definitely recommend trying this place out! read more

I love the food here, especially the noodles (pad woonsen). Curries are also very flavorful, especially the red curry. I highly recommend for takeout. If you prefer dining in they have some sitting room. The rooftop has a great vibe for a warmer day; the decor was bright and inviting. While walking around Evanston, we felted a bit hungry. I craved for Thai food. Joseph searched for some places. Yasotorn Thai Cuisine popped up. We decided to give this place a try. So glad we did! After reviewing the menu, I ordered the vegetarian egg rolls for appetizer, and Pad Kee Mao for my entree. The dish came with large flat noodles, carrots, broccoli, mung beans, sliced cabbage, and green peppers. The food tasted divine! I enjoyed every morsel. I felt like 5 star chef prepared my food. Joseph ordered the Hoi Tom. He said it tasted good. It came with mussels. Our food took about 23 minutes to arrive. But well worth the wait! It appeared the locals, and students, frequent this restaurant often. After eating at Yasotorn, people could go shopping at Trader Joe's or visit one of the quaint local shops. I am a huge fan of Yasotorn, especially in the summertime when you can eat on their lovely rooftop! Their Thai food is top-notch, and they even have a wide array of Gluten-Free options. I brought a friend with Celiac here and she was thrilled with how well they handled their food and had no issues with cross-contamination. I would make sure to clarify the issue of cross-contamination though just to be sure! I have dined in and taken out food from here multiple times, and it it always delicious and plentiful servings. Fried tofu and chicken pad thai were absolutely incredible! The crunchiness of the tofu was perfect and not oily tasting at all. The sweet and sour sauce was perfectly seasoned and the addition of peanuts was a nice texture. The pad thai noodles were cooked to perfection, I find a hard time finding authentic pad thai but Yasotorn did that exactly! We came in around an hour before close and our service was extremely kind and quick. Sitting on the rooftop was a little windy at times but perfect for a summer night. The owner hasn't fixed this problem, in fact it's just gotten worse. Avoid Yasotorn at weekends and peak hours. Hire more staff please! We had the potstickers (5) and the crab rangoon (5). both came with sauces and some shredded red cabbage. Both are really good. Nice and crunchy. The cream cheese was creamy and fresh. We had the Hot Tod? It was a seafood pancake with a bunch of mussels, shrimp crispy on a bed of sprouts. It's best to eat there. It was hard to get that crispiness back reheated. Finally we had the red curry beef. It comes with a bowl of rice. super good. the service was attentive but not pushy. They have a patio which we might try next time. This place was super tasty and quaint, I liked the split level dining room decorated with lots of art. I saw they had a deck on the second floor overlooking dempster. That looks great to relax on during the summer. Anyway, I had the hoi tod which is similar to Vietnamese Bahn xeo. It's a giant savory crepe, has a good amount of egg content and have mussel meat incorporate, it's fried to a tasty crisp and served on top of bean sprouts, we also tried sone pad kee mao. Yasotorn is a hidden gem Thai place in Evanston! Siam Splendour is very popular and reigns as most people's Evanston Thai place, but I'd argue that Yasotorn is just as good! The location of the restaurant was super unique--seemed like it was literally in someone's house. We sat on the second floor balcony which was adorable and felt like we were eating in a cozy tree house! We ordered Satay to start which was very yummy and served as a light snack. We also got the Panang Curry and Pad Thai which both came in HUGE portions. I loved both dishes and I think they were a great deal for the price. We also ordered the Thai Tea which was one of the highlights (and dramas) of the night. One note is that the service here is truly phenomenal. One of the servers started playing the saxophone halfway through the night which was a welcome surprise! I also had one of the most embarrassing moments of my life when I accidentally spilled my Thai Tea all over myself. Everyone was super understanding about the incident even though I was mortified, and that is something I was extremely grateful for. Definitely check Yasotorn out! So happy I found this place ! It will definitely be my go to. You can taste the tamarind paste in the pad Thai and teh veggies on all the plates were fresh. Red curry was delicious too not spicy. Knocked off a star because the salmon was completely raw on the inside and although they remade it I feel like they could've at least given a free side of sticky rice. The food at Yasotorn is very good. However, one better check one's bill carefully. First, the restaurant does not have a liquor license, yet if one brings one's own wine, one will be charged a "corkage fee," which is unjustified and not in line with standard practice. When I complained, they took the corkage fee off the listing of items charged but NOT off the TOTAL BILL. In addition, the printed charges on the bill added up to significantly less than the total I was charged. It was so pervasive that it had to be a deliberate overcharge. So, my summary is very good food, but dishonest charging. Be careful of the bill. read more

Very nice rooftop outdoor space. The egg rolls are delicious! Love the Pad Sew excellent noodles ( I've had noodles made too thick and stiff). These are perfect and the portions are generous.
