This is an interesting arrangement where you are seated in the taco place but you can order from there distinctly different menus. It worked out perfectly as everyone found exactly what they wanted on the menus. Plates were shared and all of the Lulu's shareables were so very good. We had fantastic service and a very enjoyable meal. Definitely recommended and we will be back next time we're in Evanston.

I just finished eating my take out from Lulu's and it was so, good I had to just jump on Yelp to let people know! Right now you can order for pick up online (20% off on your first order). I got my tried and true favorite: Bulgogi Beef Ginger Salad that comes with a delicious bag of crispy fried wontons that I wish could just buy and snack on daily. The portion of this salad is HUGE btw. I know everyone is a big fan of the peanut sesame noodles, but I wanted to try something different and I'm so very glad I did. My new favorite dish: Panang Curry Noodles. It comes with delicious grilled shrimp. The noodles are thick udon noodles which I'm very in love with right now. Amazing. Where has this been all my life? I'm so impressed. Would highly recommend. If you have a sweet tooth, I suggest the sesame balls. They're deep fried chewy mochi balls filled with red bean and sesame. I know these as "jin dui" which is found in many Chinese restaurants. I never actually been inside the restaurant, but I'm looking forward to seeing their Godzilla theme.

    spicy dragon noodles

the food presentation was very appetizing and the atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and dimly lit, very good for a date spot. however, the food itself disappointed me. i got the spicy dragon noodles with extra spice, but the sweetness and the saltiness of the noodles overpowered any other taste that i could experience. the vegetables were soaked in sauce and i ended up getting a headache from it. my friend got the curry noodles; but there was no resemblance of curry in there and all i could taste was sugar. it's surprising how someone could finish a whole plate by themselves when i couldn't even take 2 bites of the either dish without getting a headache. i hesitate to give this place a 1 star since the staff was so nice and the place was very pretty, but this definitely is not asian food.

This has to be my favorite bento box! The cucumbers and salad were amazing. Service was also great.

Lulu's makes me happy because I really got into Godzilla as a kid and there's a lot homage paid to Godzilla and Japanese cartoons and manga stuff in general. So I feel youthful in here!!! The service is very attentive and friendly, they have a chip of good cheer on their shoulders, that's for sure. I do like the booth seating and art work which is seemingly all around you. The beignets were really super good, fluffy, hot chocolately - wow!!! The churros came out differently on two separate occasions and I would have to say that I like the stuffed chocolate as opposed to the chocolate sprinkled on top. The chicken wings came out different as well, it was chili style once and BBQy the second time. These inconsistencies are fine with me because I enjoyed it, the main courses were very tasty too. I certainly look forward to coming back, and having some of their sake. Ample parking up front, so no need to sweat it.

I went here with the wife and a friend after seeing a movie in Evanston. I had never even heard of this restaurant before even though it's close to the theater. The drinks are a good deal. I had a bottle (small) of sake for $8.00 and the wife ordered cold sake for $8.75. For the drinks alone, I would come back. We ordered crispy spring rolls and blistered green beans from the share menu. Both were good. The beans come with delicious slices of tofu. I ordered the ginger salad with grilled shrimp. This is good, but too heavy on the red cabbage. This dish is essentially a big bowl of coleslaw with shrimp and a massive pile of wontons on top. Next time I will order it without the wontons. The Vietnamese rice noodle salad with tofu that a friend ordered is not good. It tastes like lettuce and, again, a massive pile of red cabbage, floating in vinegar. I tasted this and wow is it strong. The taste of the noodles, and everything else, is overwhelmed by the vinegar. I would recommend using about one quarter the vinegar.

We ordered the bento box & it did not disappoint! This traditional lunch box style meal had the perfect combination of food selections that provided a well-rounded array of flavors. Would highly recommend visiting, as the service was just as great as the food!

We have been ordering delivery from Lulu's forever. It's a favorite of our Labor and Delivery night team. The food is always wonderful, the service is always fast, and I've never had an incorrect order. Tonight they included the sweetest note with our delivery, and we just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts- you made our night! Thanks for keeping us well fed always and being out delivering during this time. -The Labor and Delivery night team

Big Bop Rice Bowl, Bento Box

To start off, our server was so sweet! She was very attentive and patient with our questions. My friend and I ended up ordering the Big Bop Rice Bowl and the Bento Box (which had the peanut noodles, salad, and gyoza). We thoroughly enjoyed both of our meals, and the biggest plus was that the portions were huge! I also really appreciated the ambiance here, and loved the decor. Lots of really homey vibes and interesting wall decorations. Although I wouldn't say it's the most traditionally authentic Korean spot (you won't be satisfied if you come here looking for that), for Evanston's crowd and what Lulu's offers of higher end fusion Korean food, it does a great job.

Our group had six people in it and for it's size, overall I felt the table service was minimal and very hands off. In fact, several times, a member of our party had to get up for a few things. An empty bottle of sake slipped off the table onto the floor, thankfully did not break, and no one even came to see what the noise was about. Having said that, the interactions with staff that I did have were friendly and helpful. When the check came, it of course had an automatic twenty percent tip included, so I guess the staff figures they are covered either way. The food overall is good, it's more the cost of everything is just so high these days it is a turn off. I am not sure you really feel the value return for the money you spend these days in a restaurant. I feel you get more bang for your buck cooking at home these days. So as I said previously, I would try to take advantage of some of the happy hour deals.

Setting the stage: It was 11:00 am or so on a Saturday. The bigger room up front was closed off for an event so we were directed to the back room. I'm not gonna lie: it gave off vintage high school cafeteria or church bingo vibes, with the vinyl floor and basic 1950s tables covered with layers of disposable paper/plastic table covers. We and 2 other groups sat at 3 of 20 or so tables. There was no wait for the goodies: carts immediately came our way before we even had our coats off. We chose 4-5 things from 4 different carts before waving off carts so we could settle in, have a sip of oolong tea and ready our chop sticks. The aging decor ("vintage") had me worried but the dim sum was good. In all, we had pork buns, sui mai, shrimp balls, chow fun, taro dumplings, cucumbers, eggs tarts, crab rangoons - all delicious! It was a lot but we wanted to taste so many things! I wouldn't call it gourmet quality but it was solid, standard dim sum. What elevated this to 4 stars was the service: super pleasant servers wheeling the carts around and keeping our water glasses filled. They were prompt and watching if we wanted another cart to come around. After that first rush, they were not pushy just showing their wares and then letting us enjoy them. Seems like a popular place because the tables were filled up by the time we left. It's upstairs (elevator if you want it). We found street parking but there is a private lot next door that you can get stamped for. Give it a try!

It was raining and chilly outside so I decided on something soup based and got myself a bowl of rice noodle soup with fatty beef for my protein. For an appetizer, I got the pork belly with garlic sauce. I really liked this because the pork was thinly sliced and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The rice noodle soup was spicy and hot and the serving was plentiful, so I took the rest to go. As for the service, I was the only one in the restaurant and the server was standoffish and was on his phone most of the time. No big deal but I was really peeved when I said I wanted the rest of my noodle soup to go and he just gave a container and a plastic bag. I usually didn't mind packing my own to go but in this instance, the bowl was bulky and I wasn't sure how I was going to transfer the soup without spilling. I wish the server was a little more thoughtful and offered to help but nope, he just went back to his phone. The roasted pork was perfectly salty with a crisp exterior, yet not greasy. The lo mein came with a bowl of soup, and while the noodles were a bit different than I expected, the egg noodles were still flavorful and the beef was tender. One standout detail: the chili oil.
