I saw online that they are closing this location and moving to Koi. My friends and i came in about an hour and twenty minutes before close and they were so friendly and accommodating. We split some dishes family style and everything was really good. The eggplant kinda tasted like barbecue, the ox tendon was in fact spicy and delicious and the tofu curry had a very mild flavor, although I enjoyed it.

Haven't been here for over a year because of dietary restrictions since having a baby. We live 30 minutes from Peppercorn and the drive is definitely worth it. Cold noodle is our to go order every time. My husband ordered the millet soup because he is not feeling the best. The soup is always my comfort food. The food is better than I remembered! We also got some 052. Fried Short Ribs w/ Chili Pepper, would also strongly recommend. Missed my days in graduate school when I was able to come here multiple times a week.

Service: Fast, clean, polite waiter. Quick ordering. Food: 1. Egg drop soup 4 stars 2. Cucumber salad 3 stars: the thin tofu is too rubbery and it doesn't need the chopped up parsley. 3. Rice - perfect 4. Walnut shrimp - 4.5 stars could use a slight honey drizzle. Ambiance: Soft music playing, mostly bossa nova, clean tables, decor is clean and uncluttered

12/07/22 - I met my buddy here for lunch today around 1:15pm. It was kind of nice cause we missed the lunch & dinner crowd. What a difference a few hours makes. We ordered 3 dishes Fried Fish Fillets w/chili peppers Chongking Popcorn chicken w/chili peppers Salt fried Tofu All 3 of these dishes were awesome. The menu selection is huge but I found myself craving the first 2 dishes, Fried Fish Fillets w/chili peppers & the popcorn chicken w/chili peppers as both dishes are excellent & I have had them before. The only issue I have is MORE fish fillets & chicken & LESS chili peppers. Dam this is becoming one of my favorite Chinese restaurants

My family's favorite authentic Chinese food place in Evanston area. If you love spicy food, this is a great place to experience the Chinese spicy food, typically in its sichuan region. Because the food is very authentic, it could take a while to acquire taste. But they are so special and different peppers have different flavors. Quite a food adventure. Service could be slow when it's busy. Casual dining vibe but also good for gatherings given they have big round tables. Love the place!

Stopped by Peppercorns Kitchen in downtown Evanston for lunch, which features a variety of Sichuan dishes on the menu. We ordered the pork belly with garlic sauce as a cold app, along with sauteed fish fillet with vegetables and taro chicken. The flavors and the cooking was good, especially for both the pork belly and the fish, but I would have liked more pork belly to be included in the dish. There were only a couple of pieces of meat, and while the dish looked full, it was really just a bunch of cilantro/scallion taking up volume. The restaurant is modern and clean, along with being relatively quiet, which makes having conversation with your party easy to do.

Affordable price and friendly service - wonton soup: delicious and warming - chili chicken: so so - beef tongue: tender, but too salty - pea shoots: always a must order - bok choy: so so - fish in sichuan pickle: delicious

We ordered their popular ribs and fried fish filet from Uber eats. We both liked the filet the most and would reorder. The pork ribs could be more tender. Both dishes were a little too greasy for my usual liking but they were too spicy. They looked spicier than they were.

Kind of hard to spot as it is in between a bunch of restaurants. Stopped by for lunch and had a great meal! The portions were large for two people. I had the egg drop soup which was as I liked it and my boyfriend had the hot n sour soup which spicy and had tofu in it. For appetizer we got the Dan Dan noodles without pork and it was so flavorful also a huge portion for an appetizer. For mains we got the Mongolian chicken and shrimp fried rice. Both were super delicious but I wish it was a little spicier. The service was very fast and friendly!

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive. Portions are straight out of the 90s--massive trays that could feed a family of four for under $15. Cash-only, BYOB, and everything comes out blazing hot in under ten minutes even when the place is slammed. The ladies running the show are legends: fast, funny, and they'll roast you (lovingly) if you can't handle the spice level you asked for. If you leave Chicago without hitting Dai Yee's at least once (preferably at 1 a.m. with a six-pack), you didn't really experience the city. This is real-deal, no-filter, soul-satisfying Chinese food that reminds you why we fall in love with restaurants in the first place. Dai Yee's isn't just a restaurant; it's a Chicago institution in the making. I'd wait in line in a blizzard for those smelts. See you at midnight.

The staff is always friendly whenever I go to pick up my food. They normally have the food ready by the time I arrive. I rarely have to wait long if it's not ready by the time I arrive. Food: I have yet to have a bad dish from Chengdu Impression in Edgewater. My favorite items to order are the General Tso's chicken and the pork pot stickers. Both items are always consistent and reheat well. I've also ordered the fried rice and I have no complaints. Chengdu Impression in Edgewater is my go-to spot whenever I want consistent food! Plus the ingredients always taste fresh. The food is reasonably priced because I always get a few meals out of my order. Overall: I highly recommend Chengdu Impression in Edgewater. The food is always delicious and you get a lot of bang for your buck.
