Multiple visits which include both dine-in and takeout warrant a review. I'm pleased there is a solid Thai joint that checks off all my boxes. They are close by, delicious and affordable. My recent visit was this weekend where I treated my parents out to lunch because I want them to try things out of their norm. They loved the food especially the Basil eggplant and the Tofu and Chicken Pad-See-Ew. The Tom Kha soup was new for all of us and had interesting flavor. I like that this location unlike other Thai places offers Moo Ping too which I love. The service was courteous and swift and if you can time it right, parking is available in their lot. Came for lunch on NYE with friends around 12:30pm. It was easy to get elated right away and the older lady is super sweet and accommodating. We saw many do take out orders here so they were not that busy inside. The atmosphere is quiet and chill. I believe she is the owner or part of the family and was so kind and attentive. We decided to all order the Lunch Special and she helped give recos like the vegetable spring rolls being more crispy and the different choice of meats that go best with each dish, etc... I got the mixed vegetable entree as I wanted to have all the veggies and decided to get beef as I also got the fried tofu as my appetizer and the Tom Yum Chicken soup. I really enjoyed the stir fried vegetables. The beef was good as it was not that fatty as I don't like the fatty pieces of beef. I could have used a bit more of the gravy/sauce for my rice but the hot sauce helped with that :) I enjoyed the fried tofu with the sweet and sour sauce and the Tom yum soup was very flavorful and perfect to start the meal. It was just the right amount of food for lunch. I'm glad they have the lunch specials so you can try a lot of different things and also don't feel super stuffed after. I didn't have any leftovers. Beyond Thai serves authentic Thai dishes. I particularly liked the selection of their House Specials section of the menu. We ordered the Shrimp Clay Pot that included shrimp with ginger, celery and bean thread noodles (gluten-free) cooked and served in a clay pot. We also ordered the Sesame Chicken with toasted sesame seeds. The chicken was perfectly battered, crispy, and not oversaturated with sauce. Food poisoning. I ordered red curry chicken and a green tea bubble. The food seemed okay, but there was something about the bubble tea that was off. It came frozen and I thought oh nice I love my drinks super cold. However, when I drank it, it tasted like it's been sitting in the freezer for days. The nastiest after taste ever. The portions was good, as well as the variety in the lunch special, for $9.50, its a decent price nowadays for what you get. We ordered 2 each of the pad see ew and the pad thai. My friend and I ordered the pad see ewe with chicken and we both thought it was really good! For $10, the portion size is good and the flavor was good too! The pad see ew was just sweet enough and salty enough for me. The chicken was juicy and the broccoli added a good crunch and texture to the dish. I do wish there was more broccoli though. Overall, the service was good! We called to order and they were quick and polite. We were looking for a place that was inexpensive and stumbled upon Beyond Thai. It's an unassuming place tucked into an old neighborhood strip mall. You'd blink as miss it, which is a shame because it's one of the best Thai food restaurants around. The host/waiter sat is at a table and immediately brought us water and gave us time to look at the menus. We ended up with the pad thai with tofu, the basil entree with chicken and sesame chicken. The pad thai as not heavy and the tofu was pretty darn good (as far as tofu goes, and the medium heat we requested was just that, perfectly seasoned. Not too hit and not too mild. It was the Goldilocks of spice. The basil entree came with mushrooms which the dish normally does not have anywhere else, and yet, worked really well in the dish. The sesame chicken was lightly fried which is a rarity. These were perfectly fried in a light sesame sauce and the white rice was light and fluffy and sticky. You could get brown rice for an extra two bucks. The food came out quickly and the waiter was attentive but not intrusive and very helpful. We'll definitely be back! read more

I went here years ago because my friend looked up lunch special and they had a good deal. I was in the area one day when I was craving for "Tom Yum Noodle Soup". I called the restaurant to see if they can make tom yum noodle soup because it's a pretty popular street food in Thailand, that happens to be one of my favorite noodle soup dish (other than ramen and pho). I was so excited when the lady said they can make tom yum noodle soup so I was there so quick! I ordered the dish, along with vegetable pineapple fried ice. Out came my dish *tears* Tom yum soup with rice noodles inside. I told the lady that this isn't a tom yum noodle soup. It's supposed to be clear broth. She told me that they didn't have it on the menu, and I said that's why I called to see if you had it. There's a difference between tom yum noodle soup (clear broth) and tom yum soup (red broth typically with shrimp). The taste of the food is ok, but the restaurant is very 90s environment. So glad we gave this place a try. We were desperate because the Thai restaurant that we originally wanted to go to only offer take out or delivery, luckily Beyond Thai is in the area. While the rating was average we thought why not. It was a small restaurant in a quiet strip mall and there was only one server. You don't go here and expect and nice ambiance or fancy decors , you can expect a attentive service and simple and delicious food. We ordered fried rice( lunch special with soup and shrill for only $10), citrus chicken(think of walnut shrimp with a soft citrus flavor added to it), panang curry, green curry, beef salad, and crab Rangoon. The presentation of the food is unpretentious, but the flavor is all there. At one point, we all pour our beef salad sauce over white rice because the flavor was on point. While there was only server, he was very attentive and nice . We ask for a cup of milk because one of our kids wanted milk and he gave us a cup without charging us. My son loved their citrus chicken, he kept asking for more. My friends and I were so glad that we game this place a try because it feels like a Thai mom/pop was preparing our meal for us. When I first walked in, I felt like I was entering someone's living room. Very humble feel with simple decor. It was very busy on a weekday. I ordered "to go" but I didn't order ahead, which I definitely should have. It took about an hour to get food because there were many orders that needed to be made. The food here was pretty spot on delicious. I had the Thai Iced tea, which was actual Thai tea with the condensed milk and not the kind like you'd find at a bubble tea shop. I got the panang curry which was also delicious. They had a great lunch special! Lots to choose from for only $8. I went with the miso soup, salad, crab Rangoon, and veggie pad Thai. The food came out with good timing, soup and salad together and then the main dish once that was completed. The soup was great! Lots of flavors, no soy sauce needed. I was a bit confused about the salad. Typically it's served with ginger dresses, not thousand island..... The main course was a bit disappointing. The crab Rangoon was disgusting. The pad Thai had a strange fishy taste to it. I couldn't put my finger on it. I had to put a generous amount of lime and soy sauce to give it a chance. Alright I'm a Thai fanatic so always have high expectations for every Thai place I go. Every item we ordered here was GREAT! We started with the puffs which is a new addition to their menu and let me just say not every Thai place has these, so when they do - GET THEM! So good! You know people always talk about dinky "hole in the wall" places that are phenomenal? Beyond Thai is definitely "beyond" any type of restaurant thai food in the northshore area. I've ordered carry out many many times but tonight I dined in. Located in a nondescript parking lot in a strip mall (lots of spaces) is this magical place where the owner is super sweet and each dish is made to order. What makes Beyond Thai different I feel- is the quality of each dish. Everything seems "authentic" as in it just tastes different. My favorite things are the tom kha soup which is loaded with protein and spices, and the red curry. The soup is amazing because the broth is actually thick and rich with lemongrass and leaves and type types of onion. It does not taste watery- like other places.The red curry is yummy and I love the crunch of the bamboo shoots. With a Yelp check-in you also have your choice of free edamame or crab Rangoon. I've only had the edamame which was standard. The owner herself served us and was so sweet. She genuinely reminded me of being in a friends kitchen-and her mom cooking. It's super personal and welcoming. After our meal she was so sweet and cut up Texas oranges for us! Like that's something an Asian mom would totally do- or any mom! Maybe one of the worst Thai food places around... don't see how others enjoyed it. First let me preface this review by saying that I am a Thai food connoisseur, especially since I have been to Thailand five times and have a unique interest in the Thai culture. Nonetheless, maybe my taste buds were off because I could not bring myself to take another bite. I ordered the Pad Thai noodles extra sauce no green onions (my daughter's favorite), red curry, and cucumber salad. The cucumber salad was just that. It was dry, flat, and was missing the marinade that makes cucumber salad cucumber salad; it was a letdown. Luckily, I had some mirin and rice vinegar in the cabinet. The pad Thai was not made with the traditional rice noodles; it was the rice vermicelli kind, similar to what is in cold Vietnamese noodle dishes. The pad Thai was so nasty that I could stomach to eat another bite and it was dry as all get out especially after asking for extra sauce. My dog will eat anything and I mean anything....he didn't want this s**t!!! I don't know where to even begin with the red curry; it was very watery and the vegetables were undercooked, especially my eggplant. This dish had no flavor whatsoever and the beef was gray. In all, I will not in good conscious recommend this place to my other Thai food lovers. I called and spoke with the manager and she proffered no solution, refund or do-over.... so yeah... After eating here three times in one week, I had to write a review. I was looking for a good thai place in my neighborhood, and found Beyond Thai. The menu looked good, so I gave it a go. As far as appetizers go, I've tried the Crab Ragoon as well as the Fried Tofu. Both were great. Every restaurant does Crab Ragoon differently, and at Beyond Thai, it's really light and isn't gobbing with filling. I like that, so I can still have room for my actual meal. I've tried four different items - the Cashew Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai. It's pretty rare to say about any restaurant, but all four were a hit! I especially recommend the Pad Thai. It is delicious!! My friends that accompanied me tried Rama Chicken, Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken. They loved them all. The portions are great, and you don't really need any appetizers to fill you - but the prices are super reasonable, so it wouldn't hurt. The portion size will definitely leave you feeling stuffed. It's just right. I also like the fact that soft drinks are only $1.50 and not crazily overpriced like other restaurants. Each time I've always gone here with a friend and I'm always surprised that the total is so reasonable. Most entrees are $8 which is super reasonable and will definitely bring me here as a regular when I'm in the mood for thai. I also redeemed my free Maki for checking in on Yelp. Surprisingly, this place have great food for a very decent price. We were here with our friends, triple date with our spouses and the bill did not break the bank. You can have dinner here easily for under $10 an entree. Keep in mind, the portions are good, but not huge. We felt full after having our appetizers and entree with almost no doggie bag to take home. I would highly recommend getting an appetizer here. Overall, most of the noodle dishes tend to be very saucy. The Lad Nar had so much sauce, I thought it was a soup! It was floating in A LOT Of sauce. In turn, all the flavoring is very rich and definitely they are big on the sugar and salt. I ordered a Penang curry dish which was excellent. My only complaint about that is that the rice portion was too small! So I was still hungry afterwards. I think ordering extra rice cost another $1. I never feel good about having to pay for extra rice if the initial portion was very small to start with (it looked like it was just 2 big spoonful, and did not fill up to my small bowl). Being Asian, I feel like rice is a staple and should be part of the meal. Therefore, again, you should order some apps. I recommend the Maki rolls for $4-5. They were not overly padded with rice so you can really taste the ingredients inside. My husband had the Pad Kee Maw noodles which was sweet and soft. Some place I've been to actually burn their noodles or make it too crispy so this place made it just perfect. They also use a lot of fresh veggies in all of their dishes, and nicely done too as the veggies are not overcooked. Lastly, my tip for them is to have friendlier service. The entire time we were there, the waitress hardly broke out a smile. She looked like she was having a bad day but since the food was good, that was half the battle. The service wasn't rude but it wasn't as welcoming as some of the Thai places I've been to. I would come back again if I'm in the area. Oh, and a check in with Yelp will give you a free offer of a Maki roll ($5 value) of either California or Avocado.
