Was craving pho and looked up restaurants near me and landed on this establishment. Cute vibes and pretty big restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. It's a fusion offering Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and Hawaiian. Normally I stay away from fusions, but this one did not disappoint. Ordered the Round Steak and Brisket Pho. The broth was a 10/10! I added the additional toppings into my pho plus chili oil and it was perfection, especially on a cold night. The noodles were good and the meat wasn't bad. Not the most tender and best cuts, but did the job. Delicious pho that I would get again if I were ever in this area! Service was also very nice!

Still a great place after so many months. Service is good, seating is nicely laid out where tables are not crowded. Food is still good- updated one picture, more to come as I will come back again. There is a small parking (14"3 car lot) outside that makes this place extra special as parking is always a premium.

This is your no frills Vietnamese and Japanese Restaurant. The staff are nice. There's plenty of parking and seating. The Vietnamese food is great, but I haven't had their Japanese dishes. Grilled Sausage Spring Roll: I haven't had a spring roll like this anywhere else around here. There is a savoury sausage, a crispy bit, fresh veggies dipped in a mango sauce. It is a nice sweet and savoury bite! Grilled Pork & Egg Roll Vermicelli Bowl: this bowl is so yummy. There is a generous portion of meat, a crispy egg roll, fresh veg, rice noodles, and a yummy fish sauce to round out the dish

Went here when the restaurant open at 11. The restaurant is pretty big. We order different kind of foods like Vietnamese spring rolls and shrimp rolls and house special pho noodle. It came pretty fast. The staff and service was pretty good. The foods are big and very tasty. Will come back here when I am in Chicago

Here's a place pho you. Or should I say here's the place pho pho? Pho sho! This is a bright open space with plenty of parking (a plus). It was sparsely filled when I dropped in for lunch. They thoroughly cleaned my table and I noted that hand sani is on the table, alongside the hoisin sauce, chili sauce and sriracha bottle. I ordered the shrimp spring roll which were two large rolls filled with about three shrimp, mint, lettuce, vermicelli noodles and accompanied by peanut dipping sauce. This was crisp and refreshing and I brightened with some chili sauce. I ordered the Pho Tai Chin Nam (round steak and brisket) which comes with a dish of bean sprouts, lime, basil and jalapeño to customize to your palate. The broth was fine, I added the lime and basil, and though the brisket was tender, I found the steak to be slightly tough. I found this to be a very large portion and they packed the leftovers to go. The menu has Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese items, so if you are not looking pho pho, there are plenty of other dishes to entice. Service was friendly and fast. Some light music would help the ambience as I was able to hear the shop talk of the (vet techs???) on the other side of the dining room. I will be sure to return pho more.

PHO PHU YOU KILLED IT! All the hype by fellow Yelp! friends who did NOT lead me astray on this one. I couldn't wait to try and this one takes the top spot for sure. From the service, to the appetizers down to their smoothies-everything was fantastic. The menu is so extensive. I usually get weary when places offer a variety of variations of Asian cultures blended all together but from their Vietnamese to their sushi, everything was bangin! We ordered their deep fried Godzilla roll which took a long time BUT when it came out-it was hot and fresh right off the presses. Crunchy and tasty! The meat in their pho hardly had any fat and was super lean and edible-delectable ! Their broth was very subtle in flavor but appreciated it where it wasn't overpowering at all. Delicious. Superb. Magnifique.

I've heard about this spot from my parents, who have tried this spot before. Pho Phu Linh is conveniently located on the way to visit my parents, so my husband and I stopped here for a quick bite before stopping by. What we ordered: Pho Dac Biet (pho special, one size) Veggie Spring Rolls (tofu, 1 order has 2 rolls) Grilled Beef Banh Mi (comes with plain crinkle chips on the side) Banana Mango Smoothie with Boba We came on a Sunday night and there were a few parties seated across the restaurant. There were also quite a few call-in orders, so I think this spot just be popular for take-out and folks can pick up their food. There is a small parking lot right next to the restaurant with plenty of spots available. There is also outdoor seating, although all the diners that day chose to sit indoors. It's nice to know they have that option, in case it is really nice outside or you want to bring a dog on the patio. There was only one server that night, another staff member who floated between the bar (making boba drinks) and serving food when it was ready. Service was still pretty prompt with one main server - we had no complaints! The veggie rolls were freshly wrapped, and I liked how there was a hint of mint among the lettuce. The dipping sauce had a great consistency and balance (mostly hoisin) with a dash of crushed roasted peanuts. It was delicious and a great appetizer. The broth for the pho was clear and tasty, and the portion size was not bad at all! There is only one size for pho, and they had generous amounts of noodles and steak/meatballs/tripe/tendon/brisket. It came with their standard tray of basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeños on the side. I wished the broth had more sliced onion and green onion - I love these additions in my bowl but understand this amounts vary from restaurant to restaurant. Next time, I will ask for extra onions and green onion. I noticed that they had REAL sriracha bottles on the table, along with the typical hoisin. They don't have fish sauce on the tables, but I didn't mind. I assume the patrons might not use it that much so they don't have it out. If you want it, I'd ask the server if they can bring some out from the kitchen. Their menu is pan-Asian, with sushi options, Thai options, and Chinese options. Usually I am weary when a spot offers that many types of cuisines but based on the quality and freshness of our food, I actually wouldn't hesitate to try their other non-Vietnamese items. Looking around the restaurant, most people ordered a bowl of noodles but some also ordered a sushi roll. If you're in the mood, why not?! You can get all your favorite Asian dishes in one place. I'll be back to try their other options. It's awesome to have a Vietnamese restaurant in Skokie. Growing up, my parents would drive our family to Uptown/Argyle to get our fix and now, it's right in their backyard. While they have already pledged their allegiance to other pho spots in the city, Pho Phu Linh is a great option to have so close by. A solid 4 stars! For more, follow me on IG @gratuitousgourmande

I am so upset it took me so long to discover this hidden gem here in Skokie. They have so many options. The staff is great. The food is even better. I am so sad it took me so long to try this amazing and underrated place. I will definitely be returning!!

Really nice restaurant with attentive staff. I ordered the chicken pho which was really good. The broth was phenominal, noodles were cooked just right, and there were plenty of bean sprouts, mint, and jalapeño to go with it. I also ordered some spring rolls and they were hefty. Two rolls come with one order. The mint on the spring rolls was not too overpowering and the amount of shrimp was good. Between the pho and spring rolls, I was full. The overall vibe of the restaurant was modern and clean.

I've been to this restaurant several times, and the cơm tấm is consistently amazing. The pork is always tender and flavorful, and the rice is cooked perfectly every time. A reliable choice for a tasty Vietnamese meal.

Vegetable Pho
Marcus D.

Excellent service and a very good meal. Went the vegetarian route with the spring rolls and pho. The spring rolls were some of the largest that I've seen, filled mostly with lettuce, a little bit of noodles, thin pieces of tofu and some mint. The peanut dipping sauce was also very good. The pho had a good portion of vegetables and tofu, and was tasty although the flavours were not overly complex. Overall, a very good experience and meal.

I'm still on a banh mi craving so I decided to look up on Yelp to see if there were any restaurants near Skokie that had it since I had to be in the area. This is my first time here but I've definitely remember passing by this place before. I love that they have their own parking lot - it's pretty decent size as well. The inside looked very nice - clean and modern. There was a good size crowd already at 11am. I was prepared to sit down to get a banh mi and try a couple of things but life happened and my phone started going off the hook. So I asked the nice waitress if I could just get a banh mi & avocado smoothie for take out instead of eating in and she was very understanding. She made my smoothie and it was pretty good. A lil more icey that I would like but it still had good avocado flavor. I was in a rush so I ate my sandwich in the car after I got where I needed to be. I was very happy with the bread to filling ratio. It also came with a bag of chips! In true banh mi form, I got bread crumbs everywhere. The bread was very good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The meats were good though I personally would've liked more pate. I would definitely go back to try some other things on their menu.

I was driving around the area and needed a spot to eat so I looked at Yelp for some ideas and found this spot. The weather was chilly so some noodle soup sounded really good at the time. This spot has ample parking and it's got plenty of seating inside. Their menu is extensive and I was pleased to find that they over vegetarian pho. I had to take a pic and share with my vegetarian friends since I've never seen pho served that way before. The Bun Bo hue is delicious and it even came with the blood cubes. My brother always gets the pho and he enjoys it. I also tried the seafood noodle and the flavors were more subtle but it had plenty of fish balls and shrimps. I ended up adding some siracha and hoisin to make it my own. Overall a good spot and will definitely be back here again.

Not expensive, but uninteresting. It is not really Vietnamese, but pan-Asian, hence generic. I had beef pho and it was bleah.

Unfortunately by the time we decided on a restaurant & I arrived there it was already 12:50. I had a doctor appointment in Glenview @ 1:50 so we really didn't have much time. I really liked what I saw at this restaurant. What I saw was large dining space w/high ceilings w/stamped patterned copper ceilings and a very nice dining area w/a cool Asian theme w/very nice Asian wall murals & a great menu selection. I ended up ordering the black garlic ramen which had an excellent rich pork broth with soy base, grilled pork, bamboo shoots, sprouts, green onions, marinated egg, house-made black garlic oil and seaweed. The flavor of this broth was outstanding. The portion size was also generous. My sister ordered some fried oysters & tea. What I ordered I really enjoyed but I was really rushed because of my doctor appointment. HRS has an AYCE for $23.95 for sushi & ramen M-F from 11am - 3pm. The menu selection looks awesome . Soft classical jazz music in the background. On a Saturday night, only a couple other tables were taken. We were seated immediately and provided the waters we requested. The menu is extensive but the server knew exactly when we'd finished deciding and came to take our order. The miso soup and salad arrived under 5 mins after ordering. The salad had a fresh orange dressing that provided a refreshing citrus flavor and no mayo so it felt quite light and flavorful. Once we finished the soup and salad, the sushi arrived quickly. The nigiri salmon was excellent - melt in your mouth quality. The nigiri tuna was definitely the best I've had. And I loved the maki. The negi hamachi had far larger pieces of fish than I've seen anywhere else. And the sushi rice had some sesame seeds in it, giving it a slight bit of satisfying crunch. We should have stopped there but everything was so delicious and fresh that we ordered the mango crunch maki for dessert. The mayo was fresh and ripe, offering a succulent contrast to the sweet soy drizzled on top. But it was a little too sweet for my husband. The crunch came from what we think might be puffed corn. I didn't like the crunch and felt it detracted from the mango. Others would probably love it but I'll stick with the fish! Can't wait to return!

Updating my review for Tenjin (formerly Renga-Tei Japanese)…read more Feb. 2026 While hubs and I don't venture toward the city much, when we do we always tried to make a point to eat at Renga-Tei. We know the owners retired and sold their restaurant with recipes & techniques, but hadn't been in the area to dine under the new ownership. I feel like we cheated ourselves of an excellent dining experience! Few recent reviews mentioned the rise in menu prices, but honestly every restaurant has risen in price. The high quality of freshness and the good service we received matched the pricing. Hubs & I were in the city and decided to visit Tenjin. Already knowing the standards and quality of the previous owners, we hoped our dining experience would be similar and we were NOT disappointed! I called and easily made a reservation for 6:15 for the 2 of us on a Thursday evening. I immediately got a text confirmation of my reservation. As with typical Chicago traffic our timing had to be changed and there was no issue with modifying our reservation. I received another text confirmation with the new time. Stepping into Tenjin we were quickly greeted by the sushi chefs and other staff members. There was a party of 2 ahead of us and they were quickly seated. We were checked in next with our reservation and led to a spacious table toward the back. Our server quickly took our drink order (green tea) and gave us time to look over our menu. They had a special feature of the day, but we opted for something hubs and I both enjoyed - the Bento Box! We ordered edamame and goma-ae to start. The edamame was steamed to perfection, just tender enough without being mushy. The goma-ae portion was so generous! Hubby went for a double steak dinner combo A (no chicken) and I chose the steak and teriyaki salmon dinner combo B. We also had the appetizer sashimi and chef nigiri assortment. The sashimi and nigiri assortment was so fresh and generous, each bite was truly savored. The kampachi was my favorite, buttery and tender. The chef was incredibly kind to us because our assortments really were assortments - we didn't have duplicates between the sashimi and nigiri which was greatly appreciated. The dinner combinations were just as delicious, plenty of food to satisfy any hungry appetite. Each combo came with shrimp and vegetable tempura which was delicately battered and fried. The steaks and salmon cooked perfect without being dry or chewy. It also came with miso soup and salad. This was one dinner where our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but that didn't stop us from savoring every single bite! There was plenty to eat and we had leftovers for the next day (which was just as delicious)! I wish we didn't fill ourselves up so much because I would have loved to see what was available for dessert. I guess this means we'll have to return again :) Our server was so kind. She gave us time to look over our menu, asked if we had any questions, kept our glasses refilled and our tea warm. Every server we saw that even was upbeat and so friendly to all the tables. They all seemed to pitch in to help one another. We left with extra full bellies, smiles on our faces, and warm wishes for a good night ringing in our ears. If you have been wondering if the food is the same or if the service has changed, don't think twice and make your reservation!
