This place is great !! The best thing is they actually do THAI SPICY!!! And they r Thai so it's very authentic. I'm really surprised that such a good place is inside the parktoshop food court. The portions are huge for the price so this is honestly a bargain and a steal. I def will be coming back in the future and bringing more ppl as well. Forgot to take a pic of the food bc it was so good but I tried the kee mao chicken extra spicy -Thai spicy - very delicious and has that wok hay so the noodles weren't sticky or soggy. We returned tonight for another carryout dinner from here. I learned that as of April 2026, this eatery is now under new ownership. The original talented mom and pop owners retired and returned to Thailand, and best wishes to them. There is a newer menu and it is slightly more limited and doesn't include a favorite of ours, #51 Tom Leng, as that dish apparently was too much work to prepare. Anyway, we ordered a #22 pork hide sun (fried crispy pork with sticky rice) for $12.95 as well as a #35 pad see eiw with chicken also for $12.95. I would say the value was very good and the quality on the average side. The fried pork had good flavor but the sticky rice was microwaved in saran wrap and was a hard dough ball by the time we got home and a big disappointment. This could have been a very nice dish if the rice were steamed and eaten right there in the food court. The chicken pad see eiw was pretty average in taste and content. This is located in Park to Shop. The food court area is pretty spacious. It's one of the nicest looking food courts I've ever been to at any grocery store. Decoration is key. We ordered chicken satay, fish cakes, boat noodle, basil crispy pork, Thai iced tea, crab rangoon, and wonton noodle. Service was friendly. Overall, it's a solid 4. I would go back but try more dishes. -chicken satay 5 - chicken was very tender and well seasoned. -fish cakes 3 - they were okay, nothing to wow you. I think the curry paste could be stronger. -boat noodle 5 - it is served in a large bowl. The broth has a sweet and spicy mix. There is beef, noodles, pork rind, bean sprouts, and meatballs, -basil crispy pork 3.5 - I feel like the pork was too crispy and chewy. I would have liked it to be a little bit softer, crispy, and juicy. No one likes eating tough meat. -Thai iced tea 5 - standard, not watery. -crab rangoon 5 - pretty standard. It had a lot of crab imitation and cream cheese. -wonton noodle 5 - the wontons were very meaty. Don't sleep on that broth, it's very savory. read more

To start off, the MILD is spicy. The MEDIUM is spicy. I haven't tried the HOT, but I can figure out the trend. Of course, your taste bud mileage will vary. I've gotten the carry out here a few times so I've only scratched the menu. The Pad See Ewe is and Crab Fried Rice (nice wok hay) is good. The Crispy Pork over rice seemed a little tough, maybe a touch stale. The Pad Thai was noodle-heavy and not very interesting. They all "looked" attractive for their presentation, even for carry-out (except for the pad thai - just kind of homogenous and sad). This is located in the Park 2 Shop, in their food court. I do have a fondness for food court dining, especially the non-chain stuff. I think it's always worth finding a hidden delight, and P Dern is certainly one of them. read more

Tucked inside the former Assi Korean Grocery is a stall in their tiny food court (6 stalls total) that shines with their Thai Favorites like Pad Thai, Pad See Ewe, Kao Soy, Papaya Salad, several Curries, but I usually go for their Wonton Noodle Soup or their BBQ Pork Noodle Soup. I know, these are actually Chinese Noodle Soups! But, I love Egg Noodles! They also offer a few fruit milk teas, oh and they also serve Mango with Sticky Rice for sweet tooths! Yummy! read more

There have been a revolving door of restaurants in the food court of Park to Shop/formerly Assi. P Dern Thai Kitchen is one I am hoping never leaves!! They have a variety of drinks, food, and appetizers. My friend and I stuck with the basics, she had the pad see ew, and I had the pad thai. We also ordered drinks. The drinks I think are pre-made but were delicious. I also felt like letting my inner child out and ordered the bright pink Thai Milk Ice Pop which the staff were only able to describe as "sweet". It was sweet and delicious, and I later found out through Google a common Thai drink! The food was also sooooo good, very reasonably priced, came out quickly, and was super tasty. Based on reviews I ordered spicy basil crispy pork with egg and while the flavor was good, the pork was too crispy where I was biting into hard pork and mostly fatty. Based on that I couldn't enjoy my food and left most of it to waste. I felt like I was eating alot of fat pork and it was so hard, I couldn't swallow and end up spitting it out. Excellent flavors in the panaang curry! I also really like the Thai iced coffee, and the price on this is very reasonable. It's in a food court, so lots of options for what kind of Asian food to get, which is especially nice if you come with a group and everyone wants something different. This restaurant is hidden in a grocery store previously named Assi Mart. The food was delicious and pretty straightforward. They have many dishes that you can't find anywhere in an average Thai restaurant, but they are popular among Thai street food, like Khao Mun Gai, a dish that is similar to Hainan Chicken. It's rather plain for Thai food, but we love it. There are many other dishes that you should try, but I'm getting too lazy now. Just go there and try something. It's totally fine I didn't mind it The food is made to order , all is fresh. The woman taken the order is very friendly smiling they give you a buzzer that goes off when you food is ready to be picked up she actually came and served it to us since she had time It was very nice. Whatever you order I'm sure you will enjoy I went two weeks in a row took my other family member with me who was soo happy with their meal. I stopped by during lunch originally planning to order from Lai Lai, but I saw P Dern was finally opened. Their menu selection was what caught my eye. They have everything under the sun - boba drinks as well! I ordered their #1 Pad Thai and their Thai iced coffee. Both orders did not disappoint! Their crab rangoons are the yummiest I've had anywhere. Crispy even after arriving home in a pick up order. The green basil curry, tom yum soup and gyoza are all delicious as well. But be warned I like spicy food, I can only handle their medium. I order mild when I'm sharing with my kids. I ordered hot in the past and it was a no-go. After frequenting another local Thai restaurant in Niles for decades, we decided to look for a new Thai place. There had been a change of owners, and the quality had slipped at our favorite spot. Tonight, we tried P Dern Thai, located in the old Assi grocery store on Milwaukee Avenue. P Dern is located in the Food Court area. We ordered Chicken Pad See Ew, which contained many vegetables which were still a bit crisp... not overcooked. There is plenty of chicken and the right amount of noodles. We also ordered Chicken Satay, which was moist and plump. The Crab fried rice was also very good. The order was ready on time. We will definitely order from here again. read more
