One of 4 Vegetable Egg Rolls and sauce
Christine D.

Great location and good food. We had a late lunch, so the tables were mostly empty. The server was nice and efficient. We had Chicken Pad Thai and this was the first time I was served tofu in my Pad Thai. Unfortunately, there was much more tofu than chicken, which disappointed me. However, the flavor was delicious. The vegetable egg rolls (4 to an order) were tasty and the sweet and sour sauce was perfect. An order of Basil Fried Rice with Pork was spicy as was noted on the menu. Also delicious. All of us had lots of food to take home for another meal. The total on the bill, before the tip was $61. All in all, it was a fine lunch and worth trying again. But having said that it was not anything spectacular. I would most likely order for take out next time, to eat in a more cheerful atmosphere.

Veggie Egg Rolls

Picked up dinner at The Elephant Thai Cuisine since this my friend's favorite Thai restaurant and I really do get why she loves this place so much. Their Pad See Ew is soooooo good; sweet, flavorful, and savory. I almost ate the entire container. Their veggie egg rolls were crispy and so good paired with the sauce. Service was fast! It only took them 10 minutes to prepare our food, by the time we picked up our order, they had our food packed in a bag ready to go. Definitely try it out when you get the chance!

It is NOT a dine in restaurant. We came in for a sit down lunch but it turned out to be a take out restaurant. The owner (I assumed) was super friendly who allowed us to sit and eat with our to go order. The food- it was not too too bad but for the price, it should be better. We had appetizer sampler and it was like from the frozen market. Tamarind was lacking in the pad thai and pad see ewe.

Pad ped catfish

*Just a reminder that they are take-out only right now. My friend and I ordered a pad see ewe tofu and a pad ped catfish. Pad ped catfish is one of my favorite Thai dishes and I was super excited to see that Elephant Thai Cuisine had it on their menu! I will say it was pretty good, but it lacked heat. I love spicy food, so I was kind of disappointed that it wasnt spicy at all, even though it's supposed to be. But the catfish was good! There was a good amount of it. And I enjoyed the vegetables and curry sauce too. My friend's pad see ewe was okay. It looked really good, but I feel like it could've used some more soy sauce and sweetness to it. I do want to give them another try, especially because they have Catfish 3 flavors, which sounds very similar to a dish that I absolutely loved at another Thai restaurant.

So delicious. The egg roll and wontons were very tasty. And I loved the pad Thai. Was $16 with delivery charges and tip

This is probably the best place in town to grab the freshest Crab Rangoon and piping hot egg rolls. Their prices are reasonable and their Pad Thai was one the best my wife and I have tried. It came with a fresh lime and a fresh homemade egg roll. I ended ordering another two egg roll because they were unbelievably good! (I have had over 100 different egg rolls in my lifetime and they were not as fresh and good as these) Furthermore, the same thing goes for the crab Rangoon, you have to order yourself some! The service was quick, delightful and attentive, which really put the cherry on top of this hidden gem of a restaurant.

Pot Stickers and Egg Roll for Special Box A
Georgey Z.

Pretty good food overall. I tried the lunch special box A which came with pad thai, basil chicken, rice, 2 pot stickers, and 1 egg roll. The pad thai had a gentle sweetness that I liked. The basil chicken was somewhat salty. but had a pleasant, mild spice. I liked the egg roll as well. The pot stickers were too greasy, and the soy sauce was excessively salty. If the salt was controlled and pot stickers/egg roll weren't so greasy, I'd give a 5 star rating.

Didn't have many dishes. Pad thai was okay. Not the best I've had, but not the worst either. Cucumber salad tasted like chemicals.

Did not wait too long but my family does not like waiting at all Ordered the soup to share- total win. I could have poured that juice in like water it was so good. The lemongrass and fresh ginger. Reminded me of the food we ate in Vietnam. Lots of shrimp, fresh mushrooms and a nice amount for a family of 4 before our meals. I ordered the Talay Pad Pong. That sauce once again made me shake my head. Could not believe how flavorful and unique it was. I shared a tiny bit with my family. Just enough to get a try of their Pad Thai. Pad Thai: I'm always like common branch out. This one did not taste anything like any other pad Thai we have had before. It was silky and saucy. Like a Thai broth- not dry like some just barely covering the noodles. Fill our two teenage boys up. Okay, dessert. Came for the mango sticky rice . Did not disappoint. We got 1 to share. Bad move. Next time 4. One for each of us. I have no idea how they made this but it was moist, purple. Sweet mango. Really kind of a dream come true. Kanom Tuay next: not really a sharing dessert, but we did. It sits in a coconut wet custard, mochi like balls- small. Very hot. In a hurry to beat our parking meter we ate quickly and learned next time. Mango sticky rice wins our tongue. Anyways, this place is vibrant , cute, friendly and delicious! Go check it out.

To put it in perspective, the Khao Soi we ordered is a curry base yet that was the most mild and almost acted like a pallet cleanser for us. I appreciated the spice levels as well. We ordered a medium for one of them, but I was sniffling throughout the meal. The workers also let us stay into their break hour to finish our meal, which was beyond generous. Very cute interior.

Indeed, this spot did not let me down! It is a small Thai restaurant in West Loop, with a large menu featuring monthly specials and quite a few dishes I rarely find in other Thai restaurants in U.S. For food, we ordered the following: 1. Khao Ka Moo: a stewed pork hock platter served with rice, pickled mustard greens, shitake mushrooms, sauce (similar to soy-sauce) and egg (which I opted out). It was my first time to have pork hock in a Thai restaurant. The meat was juicy and the skin was mouth-melting. Highly recommended. 2. JJ Tiger Cry: Basically grilled ribeye served with Thai style sides. The ribeye was cooked at ~medium well. I wish it could be a fattier cut and cooked for a shorter time, but my friend thought the temp. was perfect for her. It was served with a Thai sauce and cabbage+carrot slaw. 3. Green Curry Chicken: my sister's entree. The curry tasted refreshing and flavorful. It was also great that the dish came with both rice noodles and jasmine rice, so you can try both of them -- indeed, the rice noodles, after soaking it in the green curry, tasted heavenly! 4. Yum Hed. Grilled mushroom salad. There were shitake and king oyster mushroom. Served over a bed of fresh lettuce and a kind of spciy, sour sauce. Great as a side. 5. Guay Tiew Tom Tum Koong: Shrimp and rice noodles served in a generous bowl of Tom Yum Soup. It also had much veg. Unfortunately, I am allergic to some seafood so for safety I did not try this dish. Overall, the dishes are of medium sizes, but definitely enough for us. Service was friendly and quick. I may try more dishes the next time I visit Chicago.

The food was completely underwhelming, and when we shared our concerns with the staff, nothing was done to address them. The service was equally disappointing. Our server spent much of the time sitting on her phone while we waited for basic service like water refills, being asked about drinks, and receiving the drinks we ordered. We repeatedly had to get up and find someone just to receive attention. As for the food, the gyoza was bland and tasted like unseasoned pork. The lemongrass beef stew curry, which was highly recommended, arrived cold, had an odd texture, and lacked any real flavor. Most shocking of all were the drunken noodles. I've ordered them countless times over the years and always considered them among the best in Chicago. This time, I couldn't get past a single bite. Every dish was left unfinished. We didn't finish a single plate and didn't take any leftovers home--something that never happens for us. Between the poor service and incredibly disappointing food, this was an awful dining experience from start to finish. Unfortunately, after being a longtime customer, I won't be returning.

(Unfortunately, the sidewdalk is sloped, so the tables are sloped.) C and I order shumai, which in my experience, is served as an appetizer. Our order didn't arrive until after the main course was served. (Note to self: Next time order the main course after the appetizer has been served.) Cuisine: 4 stars - We ordered Basil Rice, to share. The flavor was different than what I have been served elsewhere. More sour than sweet. I think a better balance between sour and sweet would be better. Also, elsewhere, the rice and ground chicken are served tossed together. Here, the rice and chicken arrive on separate plates. It's difficult to mix sticky rice and chicken on a flat place. Nevertheless, the meal was completely acceptable; just a bit different. Service: 4 stars - The server was polite and friendly. Ambiance: 4 stars - We dined outside, but the interior looks nice. It's really nice to find a Thai restaurant with outdoor seating. What to know: It's BYOB (a plus) and does not accept card; only cash. For me, that's also a plus. Would I return? Yes.
