I have tried several Thai places in a few cities. This is probably my favorite! The food is consistently great. They're tight. Tea is very sweet but always great. Penang is my favorite but red and green are fantastic! The valley is fantastic. Pick a busy. Service is sufficient.
Great food, excellent prices & service and not to mention chill atmosphere !! Would definitely return. Yum num num.
Menu has a lot of variety, so everyone in the family found something they enjoyed. Enjoyed the tom kha and it was nice and creamy with some spice. Service was good overall too. A couple of people in my family tried the sushi and loved it too!
Thai Spoon & Sushi has a great lunch special. We stopped by on a whim while exploring downtown. I got the Pad Thai with tofu and it was a generous portion that I couldn't finish. I would have had a lot of leftovers if only I had been heading home afterwards. The noodles were very flavorful and it was very quick service. The egg rolls were nice and crispy, but the miso soup was a bit watered down for my taste.
We have ordered in for delivery several times now. Today we actually dined in for lunch. I'm so glad we did! They have a lunch special-- I didn't know! It's a few dollars less than the normal menu but a pretty good deal. My daughter and I ordered the pad see ew lunch, a regular Kara age chicken appetizer, and a taro boba. They also gave us a miso soup and two veggie egg rolls, unsure if that's part of the lunch special or not or standard for all done in customers, but it was a great addition! The food was delicious and made SUPER fast. I'd say we only waited about 5-7 minutes for everything. There is a lot of seating inside and the decor is really cool. The staff is really nice too!
Our go to carryout restaurant and on rotation , we love the food and quality . For new people please be aware of the spice level and order accordingly. Highly recommended!
I forgot to take proper photos, but it was nice. Know that. I enjoyed the appetizer, even though I thought I was getting veggie spring rolls, it was a welcome surprise. I wanted to be healthy because summer body is loading (and fyi any body is a beach body), so I got the veggie and tofu with some light sauce. Lovely! Fresh!
I liked this place so much I ate there twice on my last trip to Chicago. My favorite dish, by far, was the Vegan Futo Maki, which was almost too beautiful to eat. A close second was the tum thai (papaya salad), sans shrimp. The dressing was just the right mix of tangy and savory. On my second trip I went with the spicy basil with tofu, which was just ok. I suggest sticking with the sushi!

I was pleasantly surprised by the fast paced service and quality of food I received at Thai spoon & sushi. We had to settle for an early dinner since we had to catch our flights. Menu had a lot of options both on Thai cuisine and sushi options. I ordered a Panang curry and my friends ordered Pad Thai for dinner. Food served within 10 minutes. That was great. Panang curry was creamy, perfectly spiced and delicious. Meat cooked perfectly. I really loved it. Talking about ambiance, they had a lot of tables & also an open bar concept.
Great service, quick and enjoyable experience, the miso soup was chock full of tofu and seaweed, very filling. We had the pork gyoza, vegetable spring rolls and crab rangoon. We also ordered the shrimp pad thai and beef pad se ew. Apps we nice and crispy with nice tasting sauces and the noodle dishes had wonderful flavor and nicely cooked vegetables. Good sear on the noodles.
I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Thai food. The flavors are rich, authentic, and absolutely delicious. They also offer some Japanese dishes, which were all quite good as well.
Great, chill atmosphere with comfortable seating with lively design. Wonderful selection of both Thai and Japanese food. My daughter (vegetarian) and I shared the veggie gyoza and the vegan Futo Maki roll, which was delicious with a nice variety of veggies. She had the Pad Thai with tofu, recommended in another review, and it was very flavorful with a good texture. She ordered it medium spicy and that's how it out. (We took most of the Pad Thai home; this was a lot of food.) I had the Chirashi, chef selected variety of sashimi-prepared fish over rice with veggies and crab sticks on the side. It came with a lovely miso soup.
We recently visited and had egg rolls, Kara-age chicken and chicken fried rice. The flavoring on everything was ... Light and super dependent on added sauces (that you got very small portions of) to add flavor and depth. Maybe it's just a matter of mis-ordering. I found a hotel deal in the area and Thai Spoon caught my attention with their window menu and reasonable price range and their cute decor. I came back the next day for a late lunch . I think I was the only customer in the restaurant at the time. The server was really nice and kept my water filled when I was thirsty from walking around all day. I was happy to see khao soi on the menu. I had been mixing it up with khao poun which is a different dish and doesn't have fried noodles. I like both. I was hungry and tucked in to soft noodles, crispy noodles, pickled mustard greens, onions, and in this case tofu. The server noticed my enthusiasm and said it would make him happy. I hope so, this was a lovely meal and a standout among all the chains and custom-bowl places. Would definitely return. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. The location is connected to the Travelodge so didn't think the food was going to be great. But when we got our food we wanted more!! Everything tasted fresh and was flavorful. We'll definitely be returning for more! The service was also great, very attentive. I also loved how they had chili sauce on the table as opposed to having to ask for it! Give me more of that peanut sauce!! read more
Food Service Ambience Ordered the egg rolls for an appetizer, and they were nice. Crispy, flavorful, delicious. Entry was Dragon Roll, Spider Roll, Cali Roll, Eel Crunch roll. All were deliciously tasty, it could definitely be a frequent place when in the area! read more
We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived (around noon). Lots of tables and seating. I've never been to a place that served both Thai and Japanese food. We stuck with the Thai food for lunch. We ordered Thai iced teas, papaya salad (it was missing the shrimp paste/fishy salty flavor), basil fried rice, green curry, and egg rolls. The spicy basil fried rice had slices of fresh jalapeño. The green curry was more on the soup/liquid side as far as curry goes. We didn't ask for spicy and we should have. The egg rolls were small, but they weren't bad. Overall the food was good and the service was good. It was a good amount of food and a nice, quiet setting. read more
Ordered Ubereat once and I would give this place an overall 3.5. Not an authentic Thai restaurant, kind of Americanized. There are definitely better Thai restaurants in town. Papaya Salad: mediocre papaya salad. The portion is a bit small, but really appreciate that they use fresh shrimps instead of dried shrimps. It is not spicy enough and not greatly marinated. Spring rolls: definitely skip this dish. It got a weird ginger taste (not the sauce but the roll itself). It is a very light dish, only veggies and shrimps. read more

Now Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines so I am a tough critic and when I tell you this is some of the most delicious that food I've had! Specifically, Pad Thai is one of my overall favorite dishes and I always get nervous trying it at new places! Their Pad Thai did not disappoint at all! I'm a sucker for Crab Rangoons and that too satisfied me! The sushi was really good, it just was the least of my favorites when it comes to the rest of the dishes. This restaurant lies right on the streets in downtown so I didn't see many spaces for parking! We took an uber so I would recommend either that or walking! read more
I absolutely love Thai food, and this place did not disappoint. I came here with a friend who lives and Chicago and said this is one of her favorite Thai spots. We came here around 2 for lunch on a Monday and there was plenty of seating available. We started with the veggie tempura maki and added cream cheese and jalapeño, which was such a delicious addition. The sushi was flavored very well! I order the pad see ewe for my entree I really enjoyed it. I wish the tofu was flavored a bit more, but it was all really tasty when put together. We have ordered takeout from here 3-4 times now and it's been consistently good every time! We love the thai red curry, pad see ew, pad thai, and the basil fried rice. It's very spicy even when ordering medium (and we love spice) so we would probably get a couple medium and some mild next time! Love having this place as a go-to Thai takeout spot. read more
Really great Thai place in south loop! We didn't have reservations on a Saturday night and the wait was about 20 mins. The prices are all very fair ($12-15 for most entrees) and the portions are large. The pad kee mao was a tad bit oily for my liking but otherwise solid read more

Yum!! I got to try Thai Spoon & Sushi after Lollapalooza since it was super close by and I absolutely loved their Pad See-Ew. A lot of restaurants make it wayyyy too sweet for my preference sometimes but they made it perfectly here! Definitely go try it read more

I was craving Thai food while visiting Chicago and came across this cute spot on the corner downtown, a block or so from Michigan and near the L. Walked in for the lunch special and ordered chicken pad see ew, Thai coffee, and a green tea (because it was hella cold). The drinks came quick and so did the food. It wasn't crowded during the time we went, mid day during the week. As far as the food, I love Thai and this was 7/10. But the location, convenience, and service was on point. read more

My best friend and I had came to Chicago for the first time and after a whole day of walking and sight seeing we were looking for a late lunch place close to our hotel l. Turns out it's right underneath our hotel! We stopped here it wasn't busy so we were seated and ordered our food. The portions were large and very filling. The food was super great and tasted very authentic! I felt bad about having leftovers since the hotel didn't have a fridge in our room! And for the portions the bill was not bad at all! Ordered Uber Eats from Thai Spoon & Sushi during a very cold week in Chicago in January 2024. Overall the food was decent and I am leaning towards more between a 3.5 and a 4... however in agreeing with other reviews, this seems to be very Americanized Thai experience versus other places I've been. I ordered: Pad Thai with chicken Red Curry with Vegetable And STEAM TOFU side The pad Thai did not have any spice at all to it, or really the Thai flavors I was craving. The steamed tofu probably is better to be ordered while visiting the restaurant, and not through take out. I was very excited about the pad Thai based on other reviews, however maybe those people are not looking for a medium to high spice level, common in Thai food. The red curry with vegetable would rate a 5- it had a decent amount of spice and flavor and I would order it again read more

I was attending a conference at a nearby hotel, and came here with a big group of over 15 people. I ordered the green curry lunch special which came with a small bowl of soup and an egg roll and a side of Jasmine rice. The highlight of the meal was the curry it was perfectly balanced with heat, fresh herbs and coconut sweetness. The waiter was so gracious and provided separate checks for the whole group. Everything was very well prepared. I had the shrimp soup and it was delicious. The sushi was also very tasty. My daughter enjoyed her rainbow roll and my other daughter had the teriyaki grilled chicken. Joani had a salad with chicken and spicy garlic ginger dressing and we shared the Holy Cow roll which was really good. The service was really nice. Our server was very attentive and checked on us often. Our water glass never got low. There wasn't that many customers but the music was light Jazz and low lights and it was very quiet. Ordered a takeout order last night with Panag Curry, Red Curry, jasmine rice, and a lychee and mango smoothie. When opened, the panag and red curry looked pretty identical so we had to mix a spoon into the ingredients to see which one was which. The red curry has bamboo in it but the other ingredients are the same as the panag curry. We ordered chicken with both and it was delicious. I definitely recommend the lychee smoothie! Such a tasty flavor. It was the highlight of the meal. read more
This is one of the many Thai restaurants that populate downtown Chicago. I went here for lunch as it was just a block from where I was staying. It was pretty much isolated around 2 pm. Luckily they had their lunch special going on till 3 pm and I decided on that. I got my go to Thai order, chicken pad kee mao - Thai hot. It was a tad hotter than I was used to. It came with two crispy egg rolls and miso soup that was full of tender tofu. Everything was delicious. After the soup and egg rolls, I did not have much room for the noodles. So, that made a nice leftover dinner. The Thai art on the walls is interesting. Despite being isolated, but for the occasional patron who came to pickup their order, the service was quite lacking. We had to flag down the waiters a couple of times. But, that wouldn't stop me from going here if I'm in the area again. read more
