I love this place! I've been to one of these in Chinatown before and was glad to see that there was one in Evanston as well. It was life changing because I could order on a ipad. As the items are submitted I could hear ding ding ding. It was not busy at all on a afternoon Monday in early August. The server was really nice as appetizers came out fast. I think I got a little carried away for the appetizers when those are good I have a good time. My favorite was the yellowtail rolls, they were small and cute and booming with flavor. Really enjoyed the meal and I guess this is my default place now for sushi in the burbs when the urge arises. The restaurant was fairly quiet and spacious before the start of NU school starting so I'm glad I had quick serve sushi. Made the experience most excellent. read more

The all-you-can-eat lunch offer is a hell of a deal if you bring an appetite: $25 for adults and half price for kids. The entire menu is available too--salads, sushi, appetizers. Between my daughter and I, we polished off eight rolls and an order of calamari, so I'd say we got our money's worth. The green dragon roll was my favorite; everything else ranged from good to great. The tempura shrimp roll had a high rice-to-everything-else ratio, so that was a little bland. The electronic ordering system is pretty slick, so you don't have to wait for a server to come around. However, the food sometimes took a while to come out. We ordered three rounds and were there for well over an hour. The space is open and bright; we really enjoyed our time here. This is a unique model (as far as I've seen around here) and I'd gladly come again. read more

Tried this via Ubereats and the quality was delicious! Such a good deal. We got two rolls that were huge and fresh. The black dragon roll had the yummiest unagi on it. The scallop and seared hamachi nigiri were our favorites. The fish to rice ratio was a great deal. We're huge fans! Didn't realize they had a suburban location other than the one in Chinatown. read more

Ordered for delivery. Food was delivered on time and it came fresh. We ordered about 6 different rolls to share along with fried chicken wings. The sushi was satisfying. Even my children enjoyed their rolls. However the wings lack in flavor and I'd skip those. The spicy tuna jalapeño is great too! read more

What an unassuming little spot. Not going to lie-- i was really skeptical when i saw the place and the vibe. It's clean, but it was just so empty and quiet. Sushi is so easily a hit or miss. Boy was i wrong. I was so shocked at how fresh and very light their apps were. Got the crab rangoon and fried oyster. So fresh, light, crispy, and did not ruin my appetite for the sushi at all. The sushi itself was crazy. The flavor combos seem so heavy but i really need to applaud this spot for their number one quality: the rice ratio. you know how all you can eat places stack on the rice so you get fuller faster, not want to eat more, get sick and bloated, and regret everything in life-- not here. Their rice to fish/filling ratio is so beautiful and tastefully done. You do not get heavy at all and it allows their quality of fish and ingredients to shine so wonderfully. Each bite felt like the first. To the point of i had 4 rounds when usually i can do 1.5-2 rounds then tap out. The fish quality is great, freshness is amazing, service is fast and friendly, and everything was so great. Dreaming of my next trip here ! read more

Have been to the location in Chinatown before but this was my first time here in Evanston. We came in at the tailend of the weekday lunch pricing, ends at 4pm. The only thing that was not available during lunch time was the scallop nigiri, there was a spicy scallop roll for lunch, that was only for dinner time. The service was good and attentive as we were the only group in the restaurant. The ordering is done on an iPad and they get notification dings when the order goes in. You can order as much as you want on the iPad and as many times as you want too. The sushi was fresh and made well, the pieces of fish were very decently sized. A bit much sometimes on the nigiri rice amount, but the rolls were good. read more

Simple comfortable vibe, nice service. Very good selection and variety of sushi. Spicy Maki roll was quite excellent. Edamame could have used a bit more salt, but still good. Fair prices, easy parking nearby. read more

Fast and to task: a late evening brief meal before closing-- a tuna role, miso soup and gyoza. Not a big palette for measuring mastery but, within limits, competence. It was good: ipad ordering, prompt and friendly service, dishes arriving in order of prep. And tasty. read more

The staff was friendly, the sushi was fresh and the orders came out quickly. So why just a 3 rating? We absolutely didn't hate it. But everything -- from the rolls to the nigiri and the seaweed salad -- is hefty. Big chunky rolls, large slabs of fish on the nigiri, and massive tall specialty rolls with tempura that are doused in mayo. Even the cup of green tea was a big one. And we like more sensible portions. Supersize sushi seemed odd to us. We're not unhappy, just really FULL. It's probably due to our misjudgment, since the waitress cautioned us against ordering two kinds of specialty rolls since they both had deep-fried ingredients, and we didn't understand until those rolls arrived. Our 3 rating might mean nothing -- Mira has gotten a 5 or 4 from many others, so try it out for yourself. read more

Meh. It was just okay. I was excited because I'd been on a huge sushi kick for the last month. An all-you-can sushi place from Chinatown in Evanston--yes, please! So I went in during lunchtime and got two rolls I knew I would eat: the Fire Dragon Roll and the spicy maki. They were just okay. There was eel sauce on both and most of their rolls, which I am not a fan of. I loved my soup, so I stuck with water. Because most of the better rolls featured eel sauce, I left it at just those two rolls. But for $21, it was not bad. I pay $30 easily at other places for two rolls. Overall, it was not my favorite, but it did the job. I was disappointed that there were not a lot of deep-fried options. The wait staff was friendly but talked aggressively. Don't take it personally. Parking was plentiful, and the vibe inside was lovely. I'm unsure if I'll visit again, but it was a good try for a reasonable price. read more

Ordered from here because we happened to be close and was pleasantly surprised! Good rice to filling ratio (key evaluation of a sushi restaurant) and always have great deals for takeout. Our go to sushi place to order from now. Nothing ground breaking but does the classics well, and that's all we need in a takeout sushi place! read more

Our server was very polite and friendly each time, and the staff were incredibly sweet to families with children. Great AYCE sushi. Fish was fresh, good-sized pieces, spicy tuna and dragon rolls were good. The nigiri selection was strong for the price. Decor is nice and clean. Service was fast even when busy. Definitely going back. read more

Four of us came on a Monday. The way the AYCE works is if one of the party wants AYCE then all have to. There are two different menus. The AYCE is a little shorter but we couldn't really tell much difference. We on the AYCE. We started with drinks which aren't included. Then ordered off the iPad for all the items. It was quite easy. The items came out quickly and had been made to order. I particularly liked the soft shell crab so I ordered another one. Nicely battered and fried. All of the fried items were hot and crunchy. We had the oysters, gyoza, calamari, tempura as well. The portion size was 3-4 pieces. The nigiri was a single piece. But you can order as many as you want. It avoids waste. (You have to pay $1 @ piece if you leave any.) We had the salad, 2 black dragon rolls, salmon roll, volcano roll, salad, The staff were friendly and helpful and attentive. Definitely will return. The Hokkaido AYCE includes ramen and other items. I think the quality at Mira is slightly better and they have a better wine list. But I really liked the batter fried items at Mira better. read more

Great sushi, fast, and really reasonably priced. Absolutely will come back. Wonderful addition to downtown Evanston.

Im visiting from California and as a huge sushi eater and lover I noticed right away that the salmon had a weird taste. The salmon tasted like canned tuna and was kind of tough with some dark spots in it. I told one of the workers kindly and she came off as rude. Telling us that the sushi comes fresh everyday with such an attitude as if I was lying. Out of every sushi place I have been this is so far the worst sushi place I have been too. When I eat sushi I eat a lot and here I could not even order anymore because I was afraid I was going to get sick. The place was nice. I would never recommend anyone to come here. This place does not deserve its 4.5 stars review. read more

We had a fantastic lunchtime experience at Mira today. Mira's wide variety of sushi and appetizers are prepared meticulously by a trio of chefs behind the counter, yet they arrive at the table quickly, tasting delicious. Mira has an open, airy atmosphere, and they use artistic serving trays that add to their appeal. The staff truly goes above and beyond to accommodate guests. This is a brand new restaurant in Evanston, and I can tell that the owner and staff work very hard to provide delicious food at a great value to locals and students alike. You'll love it! read more

Our first visit will be our last visit. I can't understand the positive reviews we see here, especially for someplace that prepared a meal for us that was essentially tasteless and stale. The exception would be the Gyoza. 013. Tuna Tataki (4pcs) 1 $10.95--- Dumped in the bin 002. Fried Shumai (6pcs) 1 $5.95---Dumped 001. Fried Gyoza (6pcs) 1 $5.95---Okay 615. The food is very good, the prices are reasonable and the place is bright and clean. The service needs improvement though. My water wasn't refilled like I noticed the server did for other customers. The salmon wasn't fresh. It gave my friend and I upset stomachs. At least they didn't charge us full price.

Friendly staff. I called in an order and picked it up. Food was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. I wish I could order pick up online directly through the restaurant but it has to be done through grub hub. No big deal because phoning in the order was easy. But I like for the restaurant to get the sale instead of them having to pay commissions on it. Food was great though. read more
