    chicago fire roll (8pcs)

Ordered this for delivery last night and it was delicious! I really like the Chicago fire roll with extra eel and spicy mayo sauce on the side, the seared tuna on it was perfect. The nigiri was INCREDIBLE, specifically the hamachi with the truffle on top and the otoro. The salmon was so buttery and delicious as well! Will definitely be ordering again and going on to check this place out.

Nice ambiance with huge open window on the storefront facing a Winnetka side street. Lots of locals are eating here, including families with little kids on this early Saturday evening in July. Creative flare shines on a variety of rolls, with lovely presentation. The three of us ordered three rolls plus a couple of nigiri (tuna and hamachi, 2 pieces in an order) and salmon sashimi. The fish was very fresh. The green tea was unique: the high-quality tea bag included tea leaves enhanced with aromatic herbs, and we asked for hot water refill in our teapot. We left room for apple tart for dessert. Gorgeous, tasty, not too sweet. There's a full-service bar with seating along one side of the cozy space. Sushi bar seating is along the back of the room. There are two tables for two out in front, on the sidewalk.

Not the best experience. The fish is okay, but a little too salty. Not a lot of people here, even it was weekend dinner time.

Loved! the Spicy Tuna and Spicy Hamachi rolls. Great atmosphere!

Excellent Sushi! Had the Spicy Tuna and Spicy Hamachi rolls for lunch (tuna gone). Great atmosphere and cozy decor. Highly recommend!

Jimoto was a different experience than we had thought. We stumbled upon this place in the suburbs of Winnetka and I was taken by surprise. The sushi and salad was a very tasty and filling combination. We got the salmon on the salad for some extra added protein. We requested that they grill the salmon and they did just that. We were so appreciative for them doing that because I cannot have raw salmon. So with that, we will say the service was excellent! The restaurant is a cute, vibrant, and comfortable setting in the suburbs. If you're looking for sushi or simply a fun place to go with friends in the suburbs, this is your spot. All in all, we had an enjoyable experience.

I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a fresh, new sushi place to dine in. I had just dined there with my girlfriend for a Valentine's Day dinner and it turned out to be a great choice. The sushi was very fresh and the interior decor was chic and modern. The food came out to our table amazingly fast once we ordered it and everything was delicious. Faster than the McDonald's drive through. Lol. We order 2 nigiri rolls (1 tuna and 1 hamachi). We also ordered the spicy tuna roll, Godzilla roll and rainbow roll. The price point wasn't bad either for the quality of sushi that they serve and they also have a full service bar. I'd definitely go back again to try the other rolls.

The ambiance in this restaurant was amazing. We made a reservation and got seated right away. Our server was so sweet and she made sure she took care of us. The food was delicious and I couldn't get enough. I definitely want to go back.

I was looking for a good sushi spot in the North Shore and a friend recommended this one. I didn't know what to expect but I noticed that they rated high on Yelp so immediately I was intrigued. I didn't make reservations in advance but probably should have since it was busy when we arrived. Luckily there was seating available at the sushi counter which would have been my preference anyway (I like watching the chefs prepare the food). I wanted something warm to sip on so they brought out their box of teas and it was such a treat going through the process of selecting the perfect one. I don't know why but when they bring out the box of teas, it immediately elevates the experience. We got the steamed dumplings and ordered a couple maki rolls, a hand roll and a few nigiris. The fish was fresh and really good quality. Next time I come back, I would probably create my own omakase and order all the nigiris to try!

I'm so happy jimoto has finally opened their doors! I've been anticipating the opening of this spot since I love everything their sister restaurant (501 Local) next door does! As expected, jimoto did not disappoint! Everything from the service, to cocktails , rolls, and dessert was just what we needed. I started off with sipping on a smooth shot of sake... nibbled on edamame... then onto the rolls... First, the Spicy Hamachi roll... perfect balance of flavors and the texture of the hamachi was divine... Then the Soy Paper Salmon Roll... mango. spinach. asparagus. mango sauce... I've never had spinach and asparagus in a sushi roll before and I liked this one! Last but not least, the crispy rice roll... So different and maybe my fave because of its uniqueness. The combination of crunch, and I sipped on a Lychee Martini then a "senba zuru" a thousand cranes throughout the meal For dessert, Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream & Vanilla mochi Ice Cream... I didn't ask but I'll bet the mochi was fresh and stuffed because it was soft and had the perfect flavor... The Japanese Cake Roll was delectable and had the most perfect balance of fluffiness and flavor. Not too sweet and tasted so fresh! Can't wait to come back!

Again, my friend thought it really tasted like tuna. My friend wanted to split the steak which I thought wasn't their strongest dish because it tasted more processed and not like lovely tofu nor like meat. But for those who enjoy vegan steaks, it was quite flavorful and moist. The potatoes were so fluffy and crispy. But not my fav of their dishes. According to their friendly staff their plan is to open right down the street on Vernon, but while things settle down from Covid-19 they are operating as a pop up within Guildhall. I ordered online on my way home from a Dr. appointment this Friday evening thinking that I would pick up 20 minutes later. Silly me because they needed about an hour to prepare my sushi. I got home ready to feed my hungry sushi loving children and realized they forgot 6 pieces of salmon sushi (the kids fave). So I ran back and they had it ready, but prepared without rice which would do for my picky children...and so I waited a bit longer. There were a bunch of others also waiting curbside for both sushi and Guildhall's regular menu, which made me happy to see them somewhat busy during this time. The sushi itself was very fresh. We got a few typical rolls (tuna, salmon, etc). An order of vegetable gyoza. And then their avocado toast and a special version of the California roll. The rolls were much smaller in comparison to other favorite sushi spots nearby and also more expensive, but it was tasty and convenient to have down the street. My entire family enjoyed, but complained they were hungry after, which was a bit annoying for spending $100 on takeout. I'll likely stick with other less expensive spots for takeout (AO, Dempster Fish Market to name a few) since my family can devour a lot of sushi in one sitting, but will definitely be back lots when possible for dining in or even patio dining.

The young woman at the host station wasn't exactly rude but not super friendly either, but she sat us at our table just fine. The decor inside is really attractive. Lots of Asian style decor and little bridges as you walk to your table. Why isn't there water in those little ponds! That would add so much to the overall aesthetic! I had the sirloin and shrimp with chicken fried rice and my boyfriend had the filet with beef fried rice. Our food was very good and prepared well. The sirloin was very good, as was the shrimp. I didn't know egg sauce came on the shrimp, considering you already get a shrimp appetizer with egg sauce. It's a very heavy sauce and I would have preferred it on one serving of shrimp and not both. The only side sauce you receive is a little dish of soy sauce. No ginger sauce and no yum-yum sauce. Service and waiting did take a bit of time, but this isn't the kind of restaurant where you go if you're in a hurry. We had a older woman as our table attendant and a man who did the grill work. They don't do any of the little hibachi tricks like other restaurants do. I kinda like that, but maybe Ron of Japan is too classy for onion volcanoes and such. My biggest complaint are the plates. A traditional round dinner plate is really nice as your food is being prepared in staggered stages. When everything is cooked, you have a nice full plate. Here, they give you a small rectangular plate that rests on the hibachi grill and it's slanted downward towards the grill surface. It's searing hot, so you can't touch it or move it closer to you. I found it a bit awkward and could easily see myself dropping food in my lap or something. Overall, we had a really nice dinner and a really nice family sharing the hibachi table with us. I would come back here, but honestly, I don't see much difference between Ron of Japan and any other hibachi restaurant in the Chicagoland area, such as Benihana or Tsukasa.
