I waited another 1/2 hour (7:15 ) and then called back again...the lady said oh we don't have your order in the system ( which I pointed out she could have told me an half hour ago ) and she said we're not busy so you could reorder and we could have it to you in 45minutes ! Their Crab Rangoon and Won Ton soup are tasty! They are quick with delivery and in general, our family loves their food and kids' meals.

*Gluten* This restaurant does not understand gluten and the ill effects it can have for people who have problems with it. I was surprised when one of my sushi pieces arrived covered in a brown sauce. (In the photo on the menu there was no sauce.) Knowing it probably contained soy sauce I asked if there was gluten in it. My waitress said, "do you need gluten soy sauce? I can get you some." I said no, I needed to know if this sushi was gluten free. She said yes. I wanted to believe her because she is a professional in the food industry and I was hungry, so I ate it and was then sick for several days. If you have problems with gluten use your best judgment, don't rely on Dowzie to understand. read more

I love that DoWize is in downtown the very quaint but small and bustling Wilmette. The setting is relaxed, nicely designed and doesn't feel like it's take-out foodish even though they offer that and delivery. They have good quality ingredients that are well flavored. I think we've liked everything we've had here. Of note are Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. They make it family friendly too, and even offer some kid faves like mac-n-cheese in case your kiddo is not quite into Mandarin or Sushi today. Compared to most Chinese we've had, the portions are smaller and prices about a dollar higher. When ordering in, it doesn't seem worth it to me, but if doing the whole downtown dinner out thing, it's worth it. read more

Actually horrified after my experience of this place. I am convinced I was poisoned here and I wish I had the pictures to prove it but unfortunately in order to get my refund I had to give back the sushi that I ordered. Here's a condensed version of the horrific experience: My friends and I decided to pick up sushi from here. With this being my first time ordering from this place I kept it simple with a California roll, a sweet potato roll and a miso soup. My friend also ordered a California roll. The sweet potato roll was fine and then I bit into the California roll. I KID YOU NOT it tasted as if someone had poured hand sanitizer and chemicals all over my sushi. I spit it out immediately and started freaking out and asked my friend who also ordered a California roll to taste mine. She said hers was good and then took one bite of my roll (from the opposite side of the container just to be sure it was the whole roll) and she spit it out too and screamed because it tasted like HAND SANITIZER or bleach or whatever chemicals taste like, that's what my sushi was soaked in. I brought my sushi back and asked for a refund, I even told the lady working at the register that I understand that she does not work in the kitchen, but that I would like some sort of explanation as to how my sushi could have tasted like this???? She was dismissive and rude and ignored me and gave me my receipt. I asked her again in the nicest way possible if she had talked to the kitchen staff and she said "We don't cook with chemicals," and walked away. I then asked her if she wanted to try my sushi for herself to see but of course she refused that offer. Anyways avoid this place at all costs. I wish I still had the sushi so I could see exactly what happened with my food. I was so anxious the entire night because I truly thought I was poisoned it was that apparent of a chemical taste. Small quaint restaurant in downtown Wilmette. I was curious to try this out since it is in my neighborhood. The name doesn't help to tell you what kind of food is served but it did say Thai Bistro with Sushi, however there were Cantonese food options and Korean food options as well. My husband ordered the Udon noodle dish with tempura and I ordered the Bi Bim Bop so one Japanese and one Korean entree and sad to say it was only mediocre. The udon was al dente and it really should have had a softer texture to the bite and the tempura was not deep fried fresh or if it was, it wasn't crispy as expected. The Bi Bim Bop tasted like a Chinese version of fried rice. The beef was sliced too thick and therefore rough and tough to eat. We shared the fresh roll which was nice and fresh, but too many vegetables and only one slice of tofu which didn't leave much for flavor. I have to agree with my husband, they should narrow their menu down to what they do best and not try to be pan-Asian. They serve bubble tea and fruit smoothies that I didn't have enough room to try, but will give it another try. read more

I've been here for dine in Dinner and a delivery lunch and I feel like Dowize is one of the best options for Thai food for an Evanston resident who can go a little further out of town. Their Pad Thai is above average and fresh and their appetizers are great as well. I would recommend their delivery (for some reason GrubHub has a farther range than the delivery on their site so if you are in Evanston use GrubHub) for lunch since their 7$ lunch plates are a great deal, getting you miso soup, a small salad with ginger dressing, 2 pieces of an fried appetizer of your choice, and a good portion of an entree. If you order about 15$ too they have a free Spring Roll offer which is pretty sweet as well. For ~20$ including delivery fees I got 2 plates, the order of free Spring Rolls, and a side of vegetables (to bring the subtotal up to 15). Really good value considering how much comes with the plates and the freebies. The dinner service is pretty standard and still good but has less value than the lunch since they don't offer the many additions as the lunch plates and the prices are higher. read more

Love love love this place. First, the staff here are the most sweetest people ever. They are always smiling and come to your table as quick as possible when you need them. For them, I would come here again. I ordered the volcano roll and chicken satay skewers. The roll was alright. Nothing spectacular but it was good. Same goes for the chieck satay skewers. Very reasonably priced. I had summer rolls and roast duck noodle soup. The filling for summer rolls is the way that restaurants distinguish themselves from the pack. This was the rare well balanced veggie version. The filling was composed of just the right mix of rice noodles, bean sprouts, mint and tofu. The peanut dipping sauce was also good. Yeah...a good Asian place in downtown Wilmette. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service here. I've been twice in the last couple weeks - once for dinner with the family and another time for lunch with a friend. Both were good experiences. They have typical Thai fare like Pad Thai, Pad See Iew plus a big Sushi menu. At lunch the specials are good and come in a nice little large bento style box with soup to start, an appetizer, salad, and small portion of the entree. My son really liked that the kid meal came in a bento box. The chicken satay he had was okay - a tiny bit dry but still nice meat. It came with a very thick peanut sauce that may have been better if it was a bit thinner and had more balanced complex flavor (seemed too much like just dipping in peanut butter). Our dinner entrees came on nice pretty square plates that give a bit of an upscale feel. The Pad See Iew with chicek was good - nice wide tender noodles and good flavor. They have thai iced tea and other refreshing choices to drink. I had a cold ginger tea that was bubbly and very refreshing. Looks like they have wine and beer but didn't order any so not sure. Environment is nicely done - slightly modern asian feel, comfortable and clean. Server was attentive and helpful. Seems to have gained some popularity already as there always seem to be people there even during off times. read more

This is a pleasant venue in which to get some flavorful Thai food. Although the menu offers a little variety of the Asian flair, it is good quality food with strong flavors. I've only been here once for dinner, so the perspective is very specific to one dish. The prices were fairly standard for the options available. It was later in the evening on a Monday, so the venue was fairly quiet as is to be expected. The staff was welcoming and hospitable, which make the calm evening dinner that much better. I will have to dry a couple more dishes, but I am definitely willing to visit again. read more

Food was decent. Ordered delivery. They overpacked the delivery bag and 5 seconds after the driver handed it to me, the bottom fell out and a dish exploded in our entryway. Both Grubhub and Dowize declined to take any remedial action. Disappointing on both fronts. We've dined in here twice and ordered for delivery three times. The food is very good. Fresh ingredients, some unusual menu items. The staff at the restaurant is very attentive and the deliveries come quickly. The restaurant for dine-in is pretty quiet, which is a nice option in Wilmette, where many of the restaurants are on the noisy side. The decor is kind of hip and sleek. As a new restaurant in town, the only suggestion I'd offer is to install some form of foyer at the front door, since the cold air has nothing to stop it or slow it down when people enter or leave the restaurant. I love this place!! I have been going here ever since I was once invited by a friend over three years ago. Ever since I go back at least once a month if not more. The orange chicken, the spicy beef salad, and the fried rice are all exceptional. There is always something new to try and the staff is exceptional. And a cup of steaming jasmine. So, sure. I might have started coming here because my friends felt like Thai food on a random Wednesday-- but I've now transitioned into full-on fan: I called for take out today and brought it back to the office. Excellent Cuisine. We tried the Orange Duck, which was very tasty and cooked perfectly. Not overly sweet. Try it if you love duck. The steamed Shrimp Shu Mai was very good. They give you four with sauce. I think the portion could be bigger for the price. The Shredded Papaya Set comes with Sticky Rice and Chicken Satay pieces & sauce. Recommended. Lastly we had the Bip Bim Bop with beef. The menu reads it comes with sauce but there was no sauce at all. Very disappointing. It was dry. We did take out on the internet using Foodler.com After ordering online, our order was suppose to arrive in 45 mins; which seemed quite long since we lived less than ten mins away. But perhaps the snow storm made traveling tough. Anyway, the 45 mins came and went. We called after giving them 10 more minutes. Once we called, they said they never looked at the internet orders. Great :( They also said once they looked, it wasn't there. Weird. We just wound up stating our order over the phone and the man said it will be quick. We saw the ratings on Yelp and decided to get a papaya salad to go. My wife and I both enjoy the papaya salads at other Thai restaurants. The restaurant was pleasant and clean. The two front of house people seemed busy with carryout orders. One took mine and it came out 10 minutes later. We ordered the salad medium spicy since one of the Yelp reviewers called it bland. My wife and I ate the salad at home. The papaya was fresh but there wasn't that much of it, and the amounts of ground peanuts and green beans were too small. The salad also had lettuce which I have never had in a papaya salad before. I disliked that because it's a filler. Worse, one piece of lettuce was brown, a real turnoff. The spiciness was actually a little more aggressive than medium, so the salad is certainly not bland. Yes, it's only 6.25 but there's not enough papaya, beans and peanuts, lettuce has no business in a papaya salad and brown lettuce has no business in a restaurant. That having been said, they have a busy carryout business and maybe there are great items elsewhere on the menu. But I can't recommend the papaya salad and I'll likely not be back. read more

This is a pretty solid Thai restaurant in downtown Wilmette. We noticed the blue awning during our stroll on Saturday and decided to stop in for lunch. We ordered two Thai iced coffees and lunch specials for the red curry and the kung pao, both with tofu. We ordered the curry extra spicy, but it wasn't. The kung pao could have also used more spice. Even so, they were both good, with the kung pao winning between the two. The salad was fine, with a ginger dressing that could have used more ginger. The special also came with miso soup and an appetizer. We got the fried tofu (competently crispy) and the crab rangoon (no detectable crab presence, which was a good thing for us). The crab rangoon wins here, but we recommend both. Most importantly, the ingredients were fresh and the ratios generous. I don't think I've ever had so many tofu cubes in a bowl of miso before! read more

I used to love their beef and broccoli, but the dish is 4/5 broccoli and 1/5 beef (which equates to 4 small pieces of beef).
