Felice anniversario! When we were seated, we were wished a Happy Anniversary and presented with a glass of champagne. We shared a roasted beets appetizer (with the most delicious walnut butter), and bread with olive oil. I had an Amore Primaverile Spritz, with Prosecco and passionfruit. For my entree I had the lasagna bolognese, very tender noodles, delicious sauce and delicately cheesy. My companion had a steak, perfectly cooked, with mashed potatoes and broccolini. For dessert, they presented us with a cake. Not cake. An entire cake. It was quite tasty and there were two togo boxes with the leftover pieces. This was a very nice anniversary dinner.

This quaint Italian eatery has a definite upscale vibe to it with a lovely, large outdoor seating area that is nicely shaded during the dinner hours. We sat outside and so we weren't expecting great table service but I was pleasantly surprised how excellent the service was. Chris, our waiter, did a great job and at least three other staff members interacted with us. The meal started with complimentary bread and grated parmesan. We split the Insalata ala Francesca (veggie salad) and opted to split the Pollo Arrosto Ala Romana (roasted half chicken with roasted potato wedges). The chicken dish came in a savory, lightly lemon rosemary sauce with shallots and it was expertly prepared. The skin was nicely crisp and the breast meat portion was a little dry in spots but it didn't detract from the dish in any way. We were too full to order desert but it was tempting with several choices blending Gelato with baked goods. A wonderful dining experience - definitely eat outside if weather permits.

Good Italian in Lake Forest, every dish is fresh, made to order a family feel based on decor and atmosphere. One of the best Italian restaurants in the area.

I rarely leave reviews, but wanted to thank the staff and our amazing server from last night (Tessa I believe). We don't eat out very often as we love to make our own food. However, this was a wonderful experience, with extraordinary food, and thoughtful service. It was our 35th wedding anniversary, and I can't think of a better place to have celebrated it.

Great lunch specials! They have a current lunch option for $25 that includes soup, bruschetta, an entree, and dessert. (Some limitations) plus bread for the table. The food was delicious!! You get one piece of bruschetta with fresh mozzarella, and I had minestrone soup that was hearty and flavorful. For my entree I got pasta with vodka sauce, sausage crumbles, and fresh mozzarella. Lastly, for dessert I finished the meal off with tiramisu. Everything was amazing. I left full to capacity. Service was wonderful. The staff were very attentive to all tables and helping each other out by making sure everyone's drinks were refilled quickly. Love to see them working as a team instead of individual only covering their assigned tables. Definitely recommend!

Stopped by Francesca's for a date night and it was just as cozy as I remembered. We started with the brushcetta and Caesar salads. Bruschetta was delish! I was a bit disappointed in the salads though - we've had them before and the parm used to be fresh and they were parm shreds, this time it was just grated parm which took away from the flavor a bit. And it lacked a bit of salt. I ordered the spinach rolli and my partner for the agnolotti - both delicious, the rolli could have used more sauce, but the agnolotti was like heaven. The tiramisu for dessert was amazing as always!

It wasn't so much a speakeasy because it was not hidden, but that didn't really matter to us once we were there . The food was Asian themed and they had different drinks than the other restaurant next-door . I thought the focal point would be a bar in the middle of the restaurant, but there was never any bar that I could locate so that was also confusing. The food was really good. We had black garlic, deviled eggs, some tuna tartare and a lamb Ragu that was really good. So if you're looking for speakeasy, this is not really a speakeasy, but it has really good Asian food so just an FYI when browsing the Internet. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I was expecting one thing when I walked in and I got another, but we were pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks that we received so we will be back.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made the experience even better. We tried the cheesy garlic bread on their fresh house made focaccia, the rigatoni vodka, the jalapeño pineapple pizza on the Roma crust, and the veggie pizza on the pan crust. The fresh focaccia was easily the star of the meal and made both the garlic bread and the Roma crust pizza so good. The rigatoni vodka was also a standout with a rich, flavorful sauce that I'd happily order again. The pan crust wasn't my favorite, but everything else was fresh, delicious, and made with quality ingredients. If you're looking for a hidden gem in the Chicago suburbs with great food and even better service, I'd definitely recommend giving Ferentino's Pizzeria a try!

Man, am I glad we got the flyer, because they have since become one of our local favorites! For the longest time, Lou Malnati's was our favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza, but Cansino's is now #1 in town for us. Their cheese blend is soooo creamy, stretchy, and delicious! It's apparently their own in-house blend of California cheeses, and it reminds us of the tasty Wisconsin brick that's popular in Detroit style (possibly a little creamier but less salty). Their tomato sauce is super savory, with a rich herb blend and not too sweet or tart - it's so satisfying! The crust is firm and delicious, and their sausage is leaner than Lou's while having a stronger fennel essence. We still love other Chicago style deep dish pizzas, but Cansino's will be the first on our list when we get a craving. We love onion rings in principle, but are a little particular about how we enjoy them. Cansino's onion rings are excellent - crispy seasoned breading and supple onion slices that are cooked juuuust right. Their fries are also really tasty, and we loved their fried mushrooms. I've tried two of their Mexican style tortas, which were also very good (I loved the fajita style veggies and beans, and the seasoned beef was pretty good). The steak and veggies were excellent, and their bread was pretty good. Next time, I REALLY wanna try their paninos. Their staff is super-friendly, giving us great suggestions of new things to try. The restaurant is always clean and well lit. Prices are fair for the neighborhood. Their preparation times are reasonable, and everything we've ordered was ready on time. There's plenty of parking right in front of the shop, and their front entrance is easily accessible. They're right across the street from the Fort Sheridan Metra Station, so I recommend trying them out if that's your stop. They also have some breakfast items, so it might be a good treat before your morning commute. We're definitely going to be trying more of Cansino's menu, and we'll be sure to add more photos and updates.

We ordered the Margherita pan pizza and the thin mac and cheese bacon pizza. The Margherita was my favorite. I thought I had ordered it thin crust, but it came as pan instead. You could tell the ingredients were high quality. The mac and cheese bacon pizza was good too, but you definitely have to like both mac and cheese and bacon to fully enjoy it. It is very dark inside, even in the afternoon. My clients, before making our dinner arrangements, had told me they had heard good things about The Silo; upon reading various reviews posted online I had my doubts but since they were my clients, I did not say anything. Perhaps I should have done so. Although I arrived early, the noise inside was tremendous; there is nothing to absorb the chatter and it was very hard to hear my clients speaking, despite being at the same table. The table was clean...sort of. It had been wiped with a wet rag, and the surface was sticky and unpleasant; a good scrubbing with Murphy's Wood Soap would have made a tremendous improvement. Our server was pleasant and friendly; I do not recall his name. He was very young. I ordered a diet soda which came reasonably quickly; however, it was more syrup than fizz and I did not care for it. For $4 a well-mixed soda should not be an issue. My clients and I ordered a standard deep-dish pizza (I don't remember the toppings) which arrived in about thirty minutes or thereabouts. Well. The crust was delicious: hot and steaming fresh, with a wonderful flavour. The toppings were cold. I don't know how you order a pizza pie baked to order with a hot crust and cold toppings. Perhaps the crust was baked first and the toppings heaped on before servine. I don't know. The tomatoes were bitter and spoiled the flavour of the toppings. The meat was burnt and tasted bland, as though it had been reheated several times. I honestly can't tell you what the toppings were; they had no flavour and as I've mentioned, the tomatoes were bitter. Overall, The Silo features good staff, and that's about all. I don't recommend The Silo and I don't plan to return. MEH
