The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for a cozy meal. We just stopped for appetizers and drinks everything was flavorful. The staff is friendly and attentive, enhancing the dining experience. Beautiful patio!!! Overall, it's a great spot for anyone craving delicious Italian food.

Good little Italian spot in Northbrook. I've been here twice now and have had great experiences both times! Both were with friends on a weeknight, not too crowded and easy to get a table. Definitely an older crowd. I got the Penne Russo which was super flavorful, large portions. We had the same server both times--love the family owned feel!

A little peak of sunshine during this area's winter doldrums and suddenly it's like everyone has awoken from hibernation. We stopped by pizza place #1 and the parking lot was full. I said, let's try Yelp-suggested pizza place #2 and the line was out the door. As we were looking for parking I noticed Trattoria Oliverii (pretty empty - clue #1) so when we left the restaurant across the street I said, "let's try that place it's pretty empty." It's cute looking, from the bold neon name splashed across the window, cozy tables with tablecloths, wall of wine bottles in the front. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and we said no and she said sit anywhere you like (clue #2). The menu had traditional Italian entrees but since we were hankering for pizza, my companion said let's try the pizza. There were four pizza options (clue #3). We ordered the Oliverii Pizza Special which had sausage, pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives. The pizza was a disappointment (wah-wahhhh). The crust was doughy, chewy, tough. There was just a dab of sauce and the slightly cooked veggies were on top of the cheese. There were a lot of toppings stacked high, but they scattered all over the plate and table when trying to take a bite. We took one bite and I whispered, let's get ice cream across the street. We ate another slice to be polite and there was still 3/4 left. We asked to box it up to take away (trying to be nice). The server was polite and the patrons eating their pastas seemed to be enjoying their plates. Moreover some of them were probably regulars. I would not recommend the pizza.

    Oliver in the summer!!

A warm chef-owned medium-sized restaurant that attracts Northbrook folks looking for good creative Italian-styled night out.

Both food and service are great. Place reminds us of the family owned restaurants in Italy. Simple and elegant.

The decor is so cozy, it reminds me of my grandmas house in here haha, I love it. My partner and I split a pizza and it was plenty of food for the both of us. I also got a diet root beer , which is typically pretty hard to find so I loved that. We only waited maybe 10-15 mins for our order. Definitely recommend checking this place out!!

I ordered and paid for two small pizzas at the counter, and learned I had to go to bar for drinks. The same cashier came over to take my drink order, where I paid separately. In about 15 minutes, our pizzas were ready at the counter: One with only cheese, and the other with sausage. We immediately noticed the ruffled-edge crust, which looked more like a pie for dessert. We both took a bite of each pizza, and immediately disliked the cornmeal crust. It tasted to me like it was made from Jiffy corn muffin mix, with a cardboard-like hardness. My wife disliked it so much she barely ate one small piece of pizza. I liked their cheese and sauce, and especially liked the sausage. I managed to eat two pieces thinking I'll give it a chance, but hated that crust so much I couldn't eat a third piece. There are plenty of other items on their menu other than pizza, which are the only things we will consider for any future visit. The dining room is large with a dark, traditional wood decor. Parking is free in their own lot. Having no table service, other than cleaning tables, logically results in a tip and cost savings. Now that I know this is how Barnaby's operates, I am not down-voting them based on service.

We came for the first time on a Wednesday evening. Wish the tables were a little bit further away, or maybe along the wall, anyway, that was probably the only issue with the tables outside. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of dishes. My better half got the pork chop, which was pounded thin yet still on the bone. It had a very nicely seasoned breading with lots of garlic and a few herbs. It also had three or four fresh cayenne peppers, which were sautéed with a butter type sauce and poured over the pork chop. It was nicely spicy with very good flavor. My entrée was the chicken Milanese, which was virtually identical in preparation as the pork chop, except obviously no bone, and no peppers or spicy butter sauce and was served with an arugula salad, which was delicious. Our two table mates got salads, one with grilled chicken, which was nice and warm and the other with shrimp. We also shared an order of the sautéed broccoli. It was amazing! It had nicely crisped and toasted garlic pieces, some lemon and olive oil. It was one of the most delicious broccoli side dishes I've had at a restaurant. Even though I took a pass on dessert, they ordered the cannoli which came two to an order. Am going to have to say that the cannoli shell itself was not very good. I tasted a tiny piece of it, and it seemed to have a little stale/refrigerator flavor and was not crisp or fresh tasting. That was the least favorite part of the meal. Everything else was delicious. Service was solid and there were a decent variety of wines by the glass available. We will definitely return to try other dishes that sounded great!
