Outstanding! I lived in Glenview just short of 5 years. I didn't go to Gusto before the water damage but so glad they reopened. The restaurant is so welcoming. The decor is beautiful and bright. I actually wanted to take the oil pitcher from the table. Our waiter was a delight. Very attentive. Water glasses were constantly being filled. I ordered the angel hair puttanesca. It was amazing. We went to dinner early so parking wasn't an issue. Valet is available. Everything about this restaurant was amazing. I can't wait to return.

This is my favorite place to eat in Glenview. Best Pour around. Food is totally awesome Service is as good as it gets! Great ambience, everyone working here is 1st class.

    Super LAME minestrone! Mostly broth.

First the bread wasn't a loaf cut into slices it was little rolls and they were not good. Then the minestrone was mostly broth with a few beans and vegetables. This should never been brought out of the kitchen. My wife and I didn't even finish it. No offer to remove it from the bill although they didn't charge me for my two beers. After that fiasco we were hesitant to try anything else but we were assured that the Grilled Octopus and the shrimp vesuvio from the appetizer menu would make us happy and it was better.Perfectly grilled and served hot, the shrimp was good but just a bit plain tasting. When I get a vesuvio dish I like a lot of garlic flavor. Bar service was good, the food not so much except the Octopus. The only reason we went here is because we were at an event right across the street. Overall two stars. Will not be back.

Classic looking Italian restaurants are rare like this one in Glenview. Gusto Italiano has the atmosphere right. It also has drinks and food, the reasons why people still come here after years. Has a convenient location in downtown. The train station is close to here so you can use public transportation. A lot of the Italian classics. It has a bar in the middle which is good if wanting to watch the live music. This place looks pretty classy yet it's casual and has good prices. It's about $10 for a cocktail. On special was the Gin Flower. Good combination. This was gin, grapefruit, and St. Germain topped with sparking wine. As far as the food it's not on the same level but it's good from what I've had. The menu is meaty. Common items include spaghetti with various meat sauces, and there's crazier stuff like octopus. It's $6 for a House Salad. Basic looking but it was was a good amount. This was simple but good for light meals. Good place and there's a pretty big menu of classics and newer items. It gets busy but there's usually enough room inside, but big groups should get reservations. This is a quick walk from the Metra station.

First time dining here as we heard it was under new ownership. Made it a date night and was very happy with our meal from start to finish. Service was excellent- waiters n busboy were attentive. Definitely will return as heard they will have more to their menu in the near future.

Fettuccine Alfredo had a great balance of well seasoned creaminess without being clumpy or oily.

Another solid dinner at Gusto. I've come here several times with the family and we've never been disappointed. The restaurant has an old school feel, with classic voices of the past playing overhead as you eat. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams all taking you back to yesteryear. My chicken parmesan was very moist and flavorful, perfectly cooked with hot mozzarella and Parmesan melted all over the top. It came with penne pasta in marinara sauce, a very traditional accompaniment. My son loves their fettuccine Alfredo which he orders every time. This is normally a rich dish wherever you get it, but Gusto's has a great balance of well seasoned creaminess without being clumpy or oily, which seems to happen too often at restaurants. My daughter's gnocchi in marinara was very tasty. The total portion size was very large but the potato dumplings were small enough so that 4 or 5 bites didn't quickly make her feel stuffed. There's plenty in the dish so after eating over half of it, she still had plenty to take home for the next day. Each entree comes with soup or salad which seems harder and harder to find these days as you have to order a salad in addition to your entree. Prices are definitely reasonable for the amount of food you get. Gusto is a very tasty Italian meal and a pretty good value for all the food you get.

The owners are so friendly and hands-on, making sure every guest feels like part of the family. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and perfect for and special casual meal with loved ones. The food? Absolutely delicious! Every dish is made with care and top-quality ingredients. We started with the homemade bread with garlic spread and calamari "Bobby style" a signature appetizer, which was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. For the main course, I had the Veal Pancetta, and as always it was one of the best I've ever had - rich, flavorful, and packed with layers of love (you can really taste the passion in the cooking). You can tell this restaurant is dedicated to keeping things local and supporting the community, which I truly appreciate. It's rare to find a place that combines amazing food with such a strong sense of family and connection. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area - you won't be disappointed! My family has dined here twice now and enjoyed both meals thoroughly. A full bar is stocked, and I've enjoyed a strong lemon drop martini here, as well as a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Dining area has about 18 tables, so it feels very intimate and cozy. The menu is posted on a large whiteboard and can change frequently. Favorites we've tried are the ravioli (filled with spinach, mushroom, whatever is offered) and chicken picatta. We don't leave with any leftovers. Entrees can range from $25-60 at moderate portion sizes, so it is a spendy meal but worth every penny. Warm bread and butter are served before dinner and the fried calamari is a crispy appetizer that hits the spot. To touch on post dinner... save room because that butter cake is one of our favorite desserts anywhere!! It is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, served with gelato on top/side, whipped cream, and caramel and toasted pecans on our latest visit. Because there is no dessert menu (just what the waitstaff verbally tells you), here's what I can recall from it on our last visit last month: carrot cake, tiramisu, gelato, Oreo cake, banana chocolate chip cake, butter cake. Skip the Oreo cake. It tastes just like chocolate cake (a tasty one with a lovely crumb, just not reminiscent of Oreo at all) with a scoop of chocolate gelato on the side. Can't wait to return!

The Downside: They don't take reservations, which means the wait can be frustrating. Timing your visit is a bit of a gamble, but honestly, the food makes it worth it. The real highlight is the owner, who personally greets every table to make sure you're enjoying yourself. That kind of hospitality is rare and unforgettable. Final Verdict: Even if Italian food isn't your thing, this place will win you over. It's authentic, welcoming, and downright delicious. A true neighborhood treasure.

I found a parking spot in the small lot and the bread was good (when they actually brought it to is after asking four times). And mind you, they were not busy at all. There were a lot of empty tables. Everything else was terrible: service was non-existent, food was flavorless, bussers kept taking our appetizer/bread plates away, and the noise level at the bar was loud. We could not hear people talking at our own table. They put two tables together and covered the difference in heights with table clothes, so naturally our glasses fell over and spilled water all over me. Their solution was not to remove the soaking wet table clothes, they brought another one to put on top of the wet ones. Not a good solution. The waiter never checked on us after we got our entrees. My wife's pasta dish was just a bowl of mushy noodles in a bland sauce. My chicken lemone was flavorless and drowning in an equally flavorless sauce. Instead of the mashed cauliflower, I ordered the Vesuvio potatoes that turned out to be four small potatoes that were overcooked and mushy sitting on a bed of peas. No olive oil or oregano. Just flavorless mushy potatoes. How a chef lets this food leave the kitchen is beyond me. The hostess was at the bar constantly chatting up the other people sitting there which was directly behind our table and they were obnoxiously loud. We're done coming here.
